There are lots of parking spots outside in the mall parking lot. They do not have a fishing section anymore which is a let down. The web site said they had shoes in stock in the store that they did not actually have when I went over which was also a let down. Letter to DICK'S I'm writing to share a recent experience at the Augusta Mall location, in Augusta, Georgia; wherein, I and my companions, were verbally assaulted, by a sales associate.  On Sunday, April 8, 2018, my companion, son, and his companion, arrive at Dick's Sporting Goods, Augusta Mall location. I inquired with the young lady behind the service desk/register, the location of the inversion tables. She did not necessarily answer but instead looked hesitantly at the other cashier when she bopped up, and explained that they have to use locks so we wouldn't be able to actually hang. I said thank you, I understood, and asked again, where they were located. She finally pointed, and, off we went to look. We arrive at the section where three inversion table models are displayed. My group is looking them over when a male sales associate, in a light purple shirt, comes out from the back, and asks if we need any help. I looked at him, and said, "We are definitely buying an inversion table. At the moment, we are deciding which model, so at this moment, I do not believe we need help but when we make our decision, just be around then so you can pull it, and we can get on out of here." He nodded his head, agreed with me, laughed, and said, "Let me know if you have any questions." In hind sight, this where I should have asked, "Which models do you have in stock?" But, I didn't because, well, gosh darn, Dick's is a pretty major retail store. I honestly didn't think that stock would be an issue. And, at this point, begs the question, why didn't the sales associate actually do his job and go check which were in stock for the customer to purchase when the customer flat out told him exactly what they were looking for upon initial contact? To continue with the story, we spend ten, fifteen minutes discussing, and we decide we wanted the more expensive Teeter model, for $399 and change. We look around to locate the sales associate, he's no where to be found. We search, we ask, we ask, we search. At this point, no one is helping us. Finally, he bops back around, I smile and tell him the model we've decided upon, joking that they've selected the most expensive. He walks over to it, looks at the tag, looks back at me and says, "Let me check to see if we have it in stock." I looked at him, and said okay. Admittedly, a bit irritated that he didn't take the time before to look what he had in stock, if there was a possibility of a stock issue. He takes leave, we wait, and wait. The sales associate comes back, and informs us that he doesn't have two of the three models in stock. TWO of the three models NOT in stock. I then ask my one and only, very reasonable question, "When will you have them in stock?" His answer was, "I don't know." And, said it, with a very lackadaisical, mocking, laughing tone in his voice. At that point, "I turned and said, "Well, you're useless." And, walked to the front of the store. Having trained in customer service for over 30 years (Fortune 100), the one answer that is overwhelmingly unacceptable in any given sales opportunity, is the response, "I don't know." It is an absolutely inappropriate response. His response should have been, "Let me check", but it wasn't. For me, that sales associate had become useless. I was there to purchase an inversion table, and HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO HELP ME, was unable OR UNWILLING to answer my ONE question. As I was walking out, I stopped at the register of the only associate that appeared to know anything, the same one that directed us to the inversion table display area, and explained to her what had just happened. The male sales associate literally CHASES me down, and starts yelling at me! Screaming at me, shouting over me and the other female sales associate, "I asked you if you had any questions. You should have asked me your questions when I asked you if you had any?" SCREAMING at me, physically posturing his body, raising his hands over his head YELLING, and conducting himself in a HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE AND UNCALLED FOR MANNER, "Have a blessed day." No less than a dozen times. Literally, shouting me down, my companions down, overtalking the poor little female sales associate. He became UNGLUED, PHYSICALLY AND VERBALLY AGGRESSIVE with a female customer, and your other female employees. It was the worst display of misogynistic, religiosity driven behavior I've ever witnessed. So, this sales associates, instead of doing his job, treats a customer who has made it clear that they are buying, no actual sales skills needed, just the stock to actually purchase an item ends up getting chased out of the store by a screaming sales associate???? I called the store yesterday, Monday, April 9th, early morning, and did speak with a young man that identified himself as Corey. Considering how upset I was when I spoke with him, he handled himself quite well. read more

It was a mixed experience. I was looking for shoes and walkie talkie radios. The guy in shoes was tremendously helpful and nice. He helped pick the perfect one and made sure they fit exactly right. Then he answered some questions we had about a particular brand of replacement laces. He was knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. The radios are locked up in the sporting goods area so I look around for someone and can't find anyone. Eventually someone from the front passing by calls for the guy working that area. He was less then happy. He stated there is a button over on a side counter to push if I need help again. I asked a few questions about the different radios to which he said anything but the most expensive were basically junk and was seemingly put out by the questions. Their prices are higher, sometimes considerably, but they have a wide variety of products and brands in stock. read more

It took 30 minutes for me to find someone to help in the shoe department. The woman who then assisted me was not capable of finding a single shoe in my size in the entire store. Seriously! I am a 9. A common size. Come on. And she acted like it was a horrible thing to be bothered to go in the back and look for shoes. I will never come here for shoes again. read more

My wife was trying on a pair of workout pants in the changing room when she stepped on a sharpe object which cut her foot. She was bleeding and I got some one to come and help. They gave her a wipe and a band aide. They did not ask how she was what her name was or offer to fill out an incident report. One of the mangers came over and found more sharpe objects in the carpet and got someone to vacuum the carpet. But none of the three of them were much concerned with my wife. Seemed more interested in keeping it low key and getting us out of the store. It would have been nice if at least one person showed some concern for my wife and her well being. Bottom line is that customer service lacked the most basic rules of retail, take care of your customer. We won't shop there again. read more

Large store and variety available and clean but expensive and would recommend academy instead if looking for cheap things

After a terrible experience with another fitness provider, the hubbs and I went to Dick's after we got our money back to see what we could get for our refund. We were looking at the weights for only a few moments when Daryl and Austin approached us. We were looking for weights and had three choices there. Right away Daryl was quick to point out the differences/locks in the Bowflex, Core, and PowerBlocks. I wish we had purchased our previous machine from Dick's as those guys were so helpful and nice and listened to my crazy questions. We ended up getting the PowerBlocks floor model. As I left, I mentioned to my hubbs that I had one of the best experiences EVER in pretty much any shopping experience. read more

You walk in and see employees everywhere, but when you want assistance, you have to go up to customer service so they can page someone. And then you wait 10-15 minutes for an associate to help you only to be told it's not not there department. It's ridiculous!! NEVER AGAIN!! read more

We bought a treadmill 2 weeks ago from Dick's. We were told in 1-2 days the company they've contracted with, Select Express who's outsourced their services to Huddleston Delivery Services owned by Warren Huddleston based out of Gainesville, Ga, to both deliver and assemble the treadmill would contact us in 1-2 days. 1 week later they called and informed us that they'd be delivering the treadmill last Wednesday. Wednesday the delivery company called with an excuse that there was a "family emergency" and they'd deliver the treadmill on Saturday. Saturday 2 "men" showed up arguing outside on our driveway and forced their female partner to bring all the supplies up to the 2nd floor then when it was time to carry the actual treadmill upstairs they said they weren't strong enough to do it. We called their manager who said he would come and help them deliver it 2 days later, which was yesterday. Yesterday after not having shown up 1 hour late, I called Huddleston who first admitted he had forgotten, then changed his story, blaming us for not confirming the Monday delivery despite both not having received a call on Sunday and having spoken to Huddleston directly 2 days before. Huddleston then stated he'd show up today, Tuesday, I called him at our prearranged time of 4, he said "I'm on my way". 90 min later, still haven't heard from him, he states he's in Atlanta, 3 hours away and yelled blaming us for being stuck in atl traffic. Absolutely terrible experience! I went in shortly after they opening looking for a punching bag for my grandson. I walked all around the store without finding it. Finally a guy who was stocking merchandise asked me what I was looking for. I told him and he said "it's on the other side of the store" in a very disrespectful way. I asked him if he could at least point me in the right direction and he said (without pointing) "you passed it on the way in, how could you miss it?" with a very aggressive and confrontational attitude. I turned and walked away and just said "wow". I could not believe how I was just treated! And I immediately heard him mock me by saying loudly "yeah, wow." I turned around and asked him if he was about customer service or just being a jerk. He said something smart and just stared me down. I have never experienced anything like that! I just walked away and reported it to the manager who didn't seem to take much interest in me experience. I'm done with Dick's and will not shop there again. This was totally unacceptable! read more

Went to Dicks (Augusta Mall) to purchase a set of Nike Vapor Irons today. Man working in golf was not interested in helping me or letting me hit clubs. He was busy with one guy who was hitting, hitting, and hitting....maybe going to buy a shaft. While I waited to make a 800.00 purchase...and waited. While I waited making a few calls, I found that Edwin Watts Golf Shop on Bobby Jones Exway #21 Martinez GA. Had same club in stock...so went there where the customer service was Great! They were happy to take my money! Work on your customer service Dicks! read more
