First time checking this place out because I was in the area. The two young gentlemen working inside the truck were friendly and received food quickly. Now to the food. Oh my gosh was the adobo overly salty! it was like shoyu chicken basically but 10x saltier and a very very dark brown color. The fried rice was not what i expected - basically flaky rice cooked in what looks like dark soy sauce? It was weird! Anyways, the lechon was pretty decent so would return just for that. read more

Had lunch at Dicks. Well in the Waikele parking lot . Bought the Lechon plate. It comes with rice and pancit. Potion size was ok. Being that I got there at 11:15 am expected the Lechon skin to be crispy. Not all pieces where crispy. As for taste it was good but not exceptional. The pancit was average. Also tried the lumpia,it had a good taste and wrapper was crisp. The service fast and friendly. Stay safe. read more

I don't know if anyone else experienced this, i went to order the lechon special and it wasn't till i got home shortly after n saw that my lechon was still bloody in areas of the meat. I was soo dissapointed. Eating undercooked pork can definitely make you sick. I wont be going back. read more

I was not hungry but just wanted a snack and you really can never go wrong with fried foods. We were ordering malasadas from Leonard's a few trucks over and while waiting, I decided to see what other food trucks were there and happened to see Dick's. The pork lumpia immediately jumped out at me. They're already fried up but somehow they're still hot. One order is $5 and comes with four big pieces. My parents, hubby, and I each had one and really enjoyed it. So much so that we happened to go to the Safeway in this lot the next day, that I ordered the same thing again so that my sister and BIL could try. Of course, it wasn't hot and crispy by the time we got home, but nothing a toaster over can't fix. Wouldn't mind trying some lechon next time! read more

Every so often, I hear my friends comment much about Dick's Lechon (DL). I have driven by H-1 freeway heading the west direction many, many times where I've seen this iconic pink lunch wagon. "One day...." I told myself, multiple times. Well, that day finally came. Just the other day, I had to run errands and had to pick up some supplies from Lowe's at Waikele Shopping Center. After loading the car, I realized it was just before lunchtime. Despite already having brought home lunch, I took my colleague hostage and drove over to DL's pink lunch wagon. We easily found parking and immediately noticed many people standing in line for Leonard's malasadas, which I do enjoy. But I wanted food not a snack nor dessert. I walked up to DL and was pretty excited to be finally trying them. Before ordering, I asked the staff if the skin was crispy because it's a real disappointment to be served soggy, chewy or tough lechon skin. "Always." the staff replied and I asked for one pound of lechon. Within seconds, I could hear the other staff chopping away and you could clearly hear the crispy skin. After paying, we both went back to the car with great anticipation. VERDICT: As I opened the container, I immediately noticed not much crispy skin but quite a bit of fat - - not the marbling that I prefer. My colleague and I took that first piece and it was super fresh. With further observation, some of the crispy skin was on the bottom of the biodegradable container. I did find the flavor to be subtle, not like some places where they use fresh lemongrass and garlic. We each took another piece and this time I strategically chose one with skin in tact and it was so crunchy, but again lacked in flavor. At this time, we packed up and headed back to the office. After arriving back at the office, I decided to have lunch and heated up my rice. When I reopened the lechon container, I now saw a pool of oil at the bottom that was unappetizing. I fished out pieces from the top and the lechon was still warm and this time I dipped it in the accompanying sauce. It was a sweet sauce with a kick but it didn't really appeal to my palate. I am more into savory than sweet when it comes to meats. I probably ate about 3-4 pieces with my rice before I called it quits. Overall, an average experience at DL where I was able to satisfy my curiosity. In some ways I did appreciate the fresh product with crispy skin but not a fan of their subtle flavor. I have heard a lot about their fried rice and pancit so the next time I'll try ordering a plate to compliment the lechon. read more

WOW WOW WOW. THIS place has the best lechon on the island. I always get the lechon special with the onions and tomatos on the side- so the skin doesnt get soggy. The umami tatse of the crunch skin, the gooey chew fat and the perfectly salted meat is the best if you love the salty fix. DONT forget your sauces- the vinegar, the hot sauce and the lechon sauce along with the thai sweet chili. Drooling as I write this one as well just thinking about this place read more

Was craving lechon and saw this place was by my office! Off I went after reading a few reviews... Ordered the lechon plate. Comes with rice and pancit. The lechon wasn't crispy and felt like it was sitting for a bit. The pancit was literally plain noodles cooked in shoyu with maybe some fish sauce? Not worth it. Not pictured is the banana lumpia that looked fantastic and was 4 for $6. By far the worst banana lumpia I've ever had. The wrapper and caramel sauce were great. The banana tasted like hardened glue. Super unripe and almost green plantain'ish. Threw all of them in the trash after one bite... Skip the banana lumpia! If you want lumpia walk to the outlet side and support Alysandras. Overall a one and done place. read more

Stopped by completely randomly without even looking at reviews... (gasp) Which is why I am a bit surprised at the overall rating on this listing. I didn't go for the platters though - I was looking for more of a snack, so I ordered: half a pound of crispy skin pork belly ($7), 4 pcs of pork lumpia ($5), and 2 BBQ sticks ($3 each). The pork belly was one of the best versions I've had! The skin was super crispy and the pork was very tender. The lumpia was also good - okay flavorwise, but what stood out was how large they were (at least twice the size I usually find at other places). The BBQ sticks were also good - but I was definitely more of a fan of the other 2 items. Service was fine - it's a food truck. But one that I would definitely come back to for another by-the-pound order of crispy pork belly! read more

What happened to the lechon? For years they were famous for having that thin layer of crispy glass like skin. Last two orders looked very different. Not as crispy and almost soggy. Maybe its a different crew running the truck. read more

A friend of mine is very picky with his fried rice and he raved about the fried rice from Dick's Lechon. I told him I would try them out the next time I have client meetings on the West side. That day finally came and I was excited. They are located in Waikele Premium Outlets on the bottom lot by Starbucks, Jamba Juice and the old Kmart. They are among the row of lunch trucks that you can see from the freeway. You can't miss them because they are the only pink lunch truck there. I knew I was going to order the Lechon Fried Rice. They were quick and had my order out in less than 5 minutes. I couldn't wait to eat it so I snuck a bite in my car before heading back into town. It was SALTY!! There wasn't any egg too which I thought was odd since it's fried rice. Their Lechon is about average but the skin had a nice crunch to it. I was expecting only a slight crunch. When I got home, I had to add some fried egg to the dish. It helped with the saltiness. Overall, 2.5 stars...gonna give them the benefit of the doubt since my friend loves their fried rice. read more

When we drove by just before 11 a.m., no one was in line. Within 10 minutes a line had formed. A while back I had read a really good review about this food truck but finally tried their food today. Hubs got in line after I took a screen shot of a photo posted on Yelp. I got the lechon with rice and pancit. Hubs got the special topped with tomatoes and a smaller separate container with some rice. Couldn't wait to get our orders home to dig in and decide how good it was. Hubs said he likes the lechon from B@Pearlridge food court more But, he said he would order from Dick's again. The first piece I put into my mouth was a tiny piece of skin, oh yes, I heard and felt the crunch. It was like a natural lip gloss cuz it moistened my lips itself with its own emollient- cool! Not heavy or too greasy, just magically right. The pancit was tasty and I added some seasoned nori so as not to waste the one scoop of rice. The serving of lechon was generous and I put the leftovers in a sandwich sized ziplock bag and placed it in the freezer to garnish a future ramen dish. Why not 5 stars? I found a piece of what looked and felt like a sliver of perhaps a chopstick, thicker in size than a toothpick that had been cooked inside my food. It was the same color of the pancit and damp, pressed flat. I'm glad I took the time to remove it from my mouth instead of just swallowing it as it was pretty thick and hard. read more

My first time here, went surfing in the morning and was hungry. The smell of the pork was so inviting that I had to get a lechon plate (mini this time). The skin was crispy and the pork was tender and bite size. The noodles were really good, but a tad salty. You must get the sauces for dipping (prefer the vinegar one) as it elevated the flavors. Would stop out here again if I ever get back to the West side. read more

This review is for Dick's Lechon food stand at the 2020 Pow!Wow! Hawai'i Wrap Up Party/Honolulu Night Market which was held on February 15, 2020. After roaming about the Kaka'ako neighborhood and browsing the Pow!Wow! Hawai'i artists' galleries on Cooke Street, we could hear the live music and smell the tantalizing aromas of the various food vendors at the nearby Honolulu Night Market. We had made plans to browse the Honolulu Night Market after doing the street art crawl but left our options open. I stood in line to get a free tote bag which was sponsored by Hawaiian Airlines and featured artwork by local artist Jasper Wong and tokidoki artist Simone Legno while my husband went to forage for dinner. Well, after standing in line for 40 minutes, my stomach was growling more than my patience to get a freebie so I stepped out of line to meet my husband. He gave me the lowdown of the various food trucks and stood stalls (sadly, Istanbul's stall wasn't participating). He called me over to Dick's Lechon as he pointed out this vendor's various dinner plate options and the pork bellies rotating over hot coals. Dare I say that lechón is the Filipino version of Italian porchetta? However, in addition to the pork bellies being rotisserie roasted, the meat rolls are then deep fat fried to enhance crispiness of that swine skin. Smelling and watching the workers cook and serve their product led me to exclaim "Pork Heaven"! FOOD: -Pancit with Lechón : we both ordered the same combination since lechón is this vendor's specialty and we weren't feeling like ordering chicken. The noodles (Pancit Bihon) was generously portioned and is similar to stir-fried Chinese rice vermicelli. After all, the word "Bihon" originated from Chinese 米粉 Mifen or rice flour. The pancit bihon was very lightly seasoned with soy sauce and had some pieces of chopped chicken and scallions but was otherwise bland to our taste buds. The rice noodles had a nice chewiness yet tender bite. There was a good amount of chopped lechón and it looked quite succulent. The ratio between tender meat and fat was just right and the crunchiness of the pork skin was a good complement. However, given the preparation and generous portions, the tender lechón fell short in flavor. There didn't seem to be much flavor on this plate. $13 We realized that after we picked up our plates that we should have tasted the food before walking away to find a place to sit and dine. There were several different types of condiments near the pickup area but if we returned to season our food, we would have lost our table seating in busy SALT shopping mall. I'm not sure if we'd return but if we do, we'll make sure to taste our food for seasoning before walking away. read more

Some pretty good food-truck food for a quick lunch. The lechon by the half-pound and adobo fried rice omelet were our picks. Lechon was crispy and yummy. Sauces were good too. The fried rice was yummy, not quite an omelette, but separate and egg sitting on top. It was still good. Lumpia looked great and I was sorry I had not ordered any once I saw it. Service was quick, even at noon. Staff was nice. Pricing was about what I'd expect. I didn't recognize a few item names on the menu but will get up to speed and go back again for something new. read more

I stopped by Dick's during the Kalakāuā Festival on 11/9/19. They block off most of the strip (Kalakāuā Ave). The specialty of the house is lechon and there is good reason for it. The lechon brok da mout!!!!! It was super crispy and flavorful. The only downside was you could not order it simply with rice, or order a side of lechon. It had to come in a combo with pancit. The staff was supah nice and working their asses off. Dick's had the longest line at the festival bc they had the best food. The smell of grilled meat from the skewers was in the air, attracting customers. In addition, it didn't hurt that they had a choice location in front of IMP. I would go to Dick's in Waipahu no problem. They serve some of thee best lechon I have ever had. read more

I ordered a two combo plate lunch: rice, pancit, pork guisantes, and pinakbet. I also ordered 1 bbq stick. Pancit was ok. Nothing special. Kinda oily. Wish it had a lil more flavor. I read other reviews about the rice being too watery, so it wasn't watery but it was kinda mushy like the person who scooped the rice didn't shake off the excess water before scooping. The pork guisantes was kinda too salty. Didn't really care for it. The pinakbet had great flavor! Would've loved to see more bittermelon in it and wish the pork fat was rendered more. I don't like eating soft pork fat. The bbq stick was delicious. Whoever made the marinade for that did a good job! Overall, I only liked the pinakbet and bbq stick. read more

This evening, I decide to eat Lechon Fried Rice instead of a McD Southwest Salad, knowing for $8, I get a good deal. Tonight was not it... As I walk up to the truck about 6:30pm, I see the signage is new and more vertical..noticed the prices have all gone up a $1.00. The Lechon Fried Rice is now $9, the entrée plates up a dollar...everything went up in price. Guess they didn't sell well today...I see like 3 racks of large pork belly roasted sitting on the table in their truck not even cut... A few minutes later, and I get my plate lunch in a black plastic bag, it felt like he gave me a bag of air with a few rocks...it felt that light...opened up my plate about 3 minutes later at home, and the lechon is COLD and no sign of any chopped green onions. Yeah, Dick's Lechon...shame on you guys tonight for the embarrassment of food provided... don't rest on your laurels thinking you guys are da best. read more

My husband went to Dick's to pick up pancit for potluck pupu. I wasn't happy with him when he told me he went there (after my last experience) but too late. When we got to the house, we put the plate on the table and opened it and there were some "oooh"s and "wow"s. I was shocked to see such a professional presentation. The Lechon was lined up beautifully over the pancit. I asked my husband if it was the young people working and he said no, only had one older lady working. You could see the difference in the pride and passion of the older lady compared to the younger workers. Thank you Nana; you're a keeper! We stopped here because we were craving some lechon. Decided to give this place a try...Lechon is in their name so we figured it must be good. Not. We ordered a pound of lechon and a side of lumpia. Both were disappointing. The lechon had no flavor, it was burnt, dry, and the skin was so hard we had to throw it away or risk cracking a tooth! Never before had I ever had lechon this bad. Even in my air fryer I did a way better job and it tasted much better! It was like they cooked it a week ago and kept reheating it until it was like driftwood. The pork lumpia was exactly that... oily pork in a burnt lumpia wrapper that tasted like rancid old oil. That went into the trash with the lechon... $19 down the drain. What a disappointment. Oh well, we tried, we ate, we threw it away. Maybe it was a bad day, but I don't want to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again, I'll stick to other restaurants that never disappoint. read more

Not so friendly customer service. Came close to closing time and wanted to order the pork chop but the man said that they're almost closing so they don't want to cook the pork chop. Ended up ordering one embutido ( not worth it ) & a pork adobo with half pancit/ half rice. The adobo is super oily & fatty and so was the pancit ( super greasy ). Sorry Dick's customer service & food not worth it. When my order was ready and I went to retrieve it, I got no smile & no thank you. Highly won't try this place again, unfortunately. One and done for me, I was not impressed at all. Ordered one plate, pork guisantes that came with rice and pancit. Pancit lacked flavor, definitely needed salt, and noodles seemed all smooshed/ smashed. Pork guisantes was disappointing. Pork was cooked okay, but no flavor. I made pork guisantes in my instant pot with more flavor and sauce. I really wanted to like this place and may it be unfair for me to judge so harshly based on one try? Maybe. But the first try should leave a great lasting impression. There's better places in waikele/waipahu to get some Filipino food for sure. read more

Recommendation: YES!! Their lechon is amazing! Price: great price Service: they were nice This food truck have a lot of great Filipino food. Although I never really had real Filipino food, but I ordered the lechon "roast pork". And oh my goodness. It was so good that I had to go back a second day here again to get it. The pork was juicy, tender, and very flavorful. Usually roast pork seems a bit fatty for me sometimes. But these were perfect for me. It had a savory sweet taste that is so addicting. If you like pork belly, bacon, roast pork and is craving some, this is the place to go. Making roast pork can take a long time to make. So the price u pay for delicious lechon that requires lots of hard work and time is so worth it. I believe it's $7 for 1/2 pound or $13 for 1 pound. I would definitely want to come back again. read more

I have been here a couple of times with hubby and the lechon here is legit! So fresh and delicious. Today, I had rice, pancit, lechon, tocino, and a bbq skewer. Oh my! Plenty of parking across the street. The lechon was soft and chewy. The skin is what I like which is crunchy. The tocino was soft. The pancit was soft but no meats inside. Prices are reasonable. I think I paid $30 something dollars for two plates, two drinks, and lumpia. I definitely think it's worth the drive out here. I would come back over and over. read more

Last minute lunch plan on a Sunday Fun-day led my family here to Dick's Lechon by a great Yelp friend who wanted to eat Lechon. I've heard of Dick's Lechon per friend's post on Yelp but never had a chance to try it. After stopping by Vera Bradley & Coach store at Waikele, we drove over to the other side of Waikele outlet. Located near the freeway, in the old parking lot that use to belong to Kmart, you will see about 4-5 food trucks and one of them is Dick's Lechon. ( I believe its the pink food truck) During this visit, we didn't see his smoker for the Lechon and asked Tata where his smoker is and he said due to the Hurricane Lane, he had to remove it. My first time here and I do realize it is food truck, cute Tata & Lola was working the food truck. Since my family never had Filipino cuisine for so long this sure hit the spot. We picked up large order pancit (8.00), lechon (12.00 per lb), pack of banana lumpia (5.00) and Yelp friend picked up a plate of lechon & pancit. Since we were staying out in Ko'olina, she came over for the day, she put the lechon in the oven for more of extra crispy taste. The verdict, my family and I enjoyed the pancit, lechon, & banana lumpia. We had to have our rice with it, We can't have pancit and lechon without rice, and luckily I had rice in our fridge. The pancit is mixed with canton noodles, veggies and even came with pieces of lechon. The lechon was very crispy! Its been years since I had lechon, sure reminds me of attending a family party at my in-laws side. The banana lumpia was the grand finale. It was so good, I loved that they use cooking banana along with the coated sugar on the lumpia, just like how my in-laws would make it. During the mid week, the hubby requested for me to make a stop to pick up banana lumpia for him on the way back to Ko'olina. So I made a quick stop to grab him 2 packs of banana lumpia. We loved the lumpia!! All in all, I will def stop by again for Pancit, lechon, & banana lumpia. I am surprised that they accept credit cards, even better for buying more during my next visit and don't forget to ask for a stamp card. The prices are super resonable. It is worth getting off the freeway for or when you are at Waikele, make a stop!! read more

Was in the area and craving Filipino food. Waikele shopping center located where all the food trucks are is Dicks Lechon. The menu is very extensive offering a wide variety of Filipino food to choose from. Menu is easy to follow but being that I'm watching my carb intake I went with 2 choices Ala Carte. Lechon (of course) and the longanisa. Lechon: All I can say is that what makes good Lechon is the skin. 110% loved that part of the Lechon but the rest fell through. Meat was juicy but it was really really salty ! Luckily was included with Lechon sauce so I could eat a few pieces . Longanisa: was expecting the red ones. Got the brown ones. Pieces are inconsistent and very salty as well. Both were super oily. I guess I can't expect much from not consuming rice with these delicacies .. but my experience here left me longing for more. We tried this place after a recommendation from a friend and the fact that it wad located in the same lot at Leonard's truck. I ordered the lechon plate (large) and it came with rice and pancit. They were sold out of lumpia so my son was disappointed. The lechon plate was $14.14 I think and was ready in just a few mins. You can hear them chopping it up. Reminiscent of Chinese roast pork I was excited to try it. Granted we took it back to our hotel so we couldn't eat it right away. A few pieces of the skin were kind of crispy but a few were way too hard and thick I thought I was about to chip a tooth. Overall it was good, the rice needed to be better and the pancit was an afterthought. I wish I would've subbed something else for the pancit, it wasn't very good. The meat was good but skin needed to be crispier and not so hard and thick. Worth a try though! read more
