We stopped by Dick's Last Resort on a Thursday and it was pretty dead, which honestly made me feel bad knowing it's the off season. Even so, the food came out hot and fresh, and the service was great. Our waiter was extremely personable and nailed the classic Dick's personality and shenanigans without being over the top. You can tell they're still putting in the effort even when business is slow, and that really stood out. Ok it isn't fancy for sure but the staff is great. Shout out to Ariel. The drunken shrimp is a great deal. The peel and eat shrimp (drunken) are large and cooked just right with the perfect amount of Old Bay added. The service with sarcasm is funny. The hot dog is huge and pretty good. The waiter gives you a hat with something crazy on it and you wear it the whole time. You're not supposed know what your hat says until everyone has theirs. Today is my birthday. I cheated on my diet (keto) by accident, so I decided Imma enjoy my day. Haha. got the Sex on the Beach Shot. This shot came with a logo glass that I can take home. The shot was good. Joey talked me into getting an actual drink too. I for the Sucker Punch. Joey stated that its the stronger and it goes down easy. It was really good! Definitely one that will sneak up on you! I mainly game here because I wanted some fried shrimp. This is just an in between before I have my birthday dinner. I got the Fried Shrimpies with fries and a side of pulled pork. My bf got the crab legs. $26/27 is the MP for 3 clusters of crap legs. It took a little bit for the food to come. When I got my food, my fries were barely warm and my shrimp were a tad warmer than my fries. This was disappointing considering the wait. Additionally, you get 9 jumbo shrimp. About $20 seems pretty expensive for Fried shrimp and a small amount of fries :( My bf fries were also warm/cold. His crab legs were hot and fresh tho. This leads me to believe that everyone was ready, plated, and sitting while waiting on the crab legs. They could've/should've brought the food out while it was fresh to avoid bringing it out cold. I didn't complain because I didn't wanna wait longer for fresh food, especially since I knew I'll be going out for dinner. The pulled pork I got was tasty but again, cold/warm. That's no good. I expect my food to be hot when I get it. Overall, I liked the atmosphere. I was reading the hats of other people and some was soooooooooooo funny!!!!! Absolutely loved the experience. Not for anyone without a sense of humor or who can't take a joke. You will leave with your little feelings hurt. The fried picked were AMAZING. Super crispy and not soggy. It was completely dead. Maybe because it was February, there was a pandemic, and we did arrive a little past 9. We were visiting Myrtle Beach on a girl's trip and Ubered there. They never rushed us out even as they were closing! Our waitress was amazing. She was like "one of the girls". Stopped in on a recommendation. Found the staff to be on par with comments expected. Full rack of short ribs and fry's didn't disappoint. Had a great laugh at the paper hats and staff interactions. The service was meant to be snarky but taken past the point of the ability to communicate it is totally inappropriate. The waitress refused to come to my end of the table so I can communicate my food, allergies and desires, she decided to yell in a noisy environment. . What I got was an overcooked strip steak with vegetables covering plate some of which I was allergic to. Vegetable on my 12" wiener which I was definitely allergic to. When the bill came, I was met with "I wasn't told" and "I didn't hear you". Charged $24 for what was suppose to be $8. And some of the stuff they wrote on those hats move from inappropriate towards child exploitation with young children and grandchildren. Can you imagine being asked by a pre-teen why I masturbate and why grand mom like anal? Can you imagine a 5 year old grandson asking "why is that lady so mean"? We should have learned our lesson from the less than stellar experience we had at the Pigeon Forge location, but when we saw this location had a 4.8 average at the time, we decided to give it a shot since we were feeling up for some sarcastic fun. But overall, it was a let down. Our server was nice (snarky) enough and there was some good banter to start, but when we each got our hats, with the exception of out daughters, they were all a let down. I totally understand that things had to be a little more tame since we had little ones with us, but our hats were nothing more than recycled jokes that we could see on other hats throughout the place. Ones we had already laughed at. I also understand that some jokes need to be recycled, but maybe try not to do it with two tables sitting side by side? My husband was so bummed that he didn't even wear his hat. And the food was underwhelming. High prices (I get it, resort town) for nothing spectacular. Sure the portions were a decent size but, again, anyone with a deep fryer could do it. And I ordered the Trashcan Shooter (described as so strong you won't be able to drive home) and it was mostly fruit mix. We likely won't be back to this one or to any Dick's. Atmosphere: Dick's Last Resort had a rowdy atmosphere, even despite going at an odd hour. It has the vibe of a typical sports bar, with darker lighting and TVs along the wall. Service: To be honest, we were hoping for our service to be worse. Our server threw out the occasional insults, but she was still nice and made small talk with us. They initially forgot to bring out the Jalapeño Gravy with the Country Fry'd Steak (aka "old people food"), but it was given to us shortly after. Food: We ordered the Country Fry'd Steak with Creamed Corn and Mashed Potatoes and Dick's Big Pig with Mashed Potatoes. The Country Fry'd Steak was average, though the Creamed Corn and Mashed Potatoes were pretty flavorless. The Jalapeño Gravy wasn't very spicy, but still added a small kick to the dish. Dick's Big Pig was quite bland and the buns were almost plastic-like. The BBQ sauce wasn't good, and the only way to palatably eat the dish was to wash it down with water and the Mashed Potatoes. Overall: Our low review of Dick's Last Resort is mainly due to the low quality of their food, as well as the lack of poor funny service we received. As we each paid around $30 for our meal, we were hoping for some half decent food or at least some good insults. Many of the jokes told by our server and written on our paper hats felt generic and reused. Therefore, we'd say that Dick's Last Resort is a restaurant you try once and don't return to. read more
