This food is amazing! The service couldn't be worse! We have visited 3 times in the past 3 months. When they were understaffed the 1st time, we thought it was an off night. Our dinners were SO good, we wanted to go back! The next visit was the same...GREAT food, still understaffed. That night the music was far from what most would consider relaxing. We intentionally sat away from the kitchen so that we could converse across the table. Our last visit...and it may be our LAST for good. Extremely understaffed, horrible music and half of our party received their food about the time the other half was finishing. This place has amazingly good food, but they probably would have lot more guests if they were able to staff adequately. Everyone that was working, on each of these occasions, were doing their best to insure diners were well taken care of. Last night's litany of excuses for their inadequacies was unacceptable. The owners should spend some time either trying to keep this great food establishment open or close it for lack of attention. Thank you to all who are trying to do their best. We came to Dickey's while playing at a tournament close by at Newark Community Park. I really liked the food. My wife, daughter, and I split a three meat plate. I really enjoyed all three choices selected. We did brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. All were juicy and full of flavor. We did fried pickles and a couple of sides of Mac n cheese. Our bill total was $29. You can't beat that. Although I did not take advantage of it, there is also free ice cream. The place was nice and clean with lots of TVs where we watched college football. First off this place is a joke, absolutely terrible service. they hire young adults and let them run around like its recess. The food is OK if your dining in but forget it if your doing carry out or any delivery service its like the children behind the counter intentionally mess things up and work super slow. The place is family owned, so they hire teenagers (family) and give them opportunities to work which is great but on the other hand cut hard working employees (adults) hours to nearly nothing. The few times i have been there have been absolutely terrible from it being a hot day with no AC running inside to Loud mouth immature teenage workers running around like toddlers doing everything but there job. I have even seen workers outside the place beyond drunk standing on the patio benches. The GM and Owner should reconsider there workforce and business model because as of now it seems like theres more complaints than compliments. We usually go to City BBQ... comparative-wise, Dickey's would be "Wendy's" and City would be "5 Guys Hamburgers" My brisket was warm. The small baked beans really are SMALL! My wife's regular size sandwich was only slightly smaller than my "Westerner" Plus, they put margarine on the bun! So she ended up not being able to finish it. Fortunately we came on a "BOGO" Coupon. I wanted to like this place. I love BBQ and was excited to try something new. But the experience was pretty lackluster. One of the great things about barbecue is having a good hearty meal. ALL of the portions here were tiny. I tried the sampler platter (or something like that) with three meats. Usually something like that is very large. This was seriously 3-4 bites of each type of meat. Some of which was hardly room temperature. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. To start off our experience the hostess slapped her leg and called my 3 year old child like she was a dog when she came to seat us. We were seated in a corner so dark we had to use our phone lights to look at our food. Our waitress had no idea what was in the food or what a draft beer was. Happy hour on Sunday is 11-8pm she came to tell my husband his beer would be full price because happy hour was over. It was only 7:06. When I pointed out the times on the menu she told me to calm down. To top it all off the food came out after 20 min COLD and my childs chicken nuggets were raw in the middle. We really enjoyed their barbecue the other day. The pulled pork was particularly delicious. We enjoyed the experience and will be back.

Food is good when it comes out right which is only about 25% of the time. And it has been getting worse each time we go - it shouldn't be that hard to not put onions or jalapeños on something as requested. Service has been very poor with lots of empty tables at the lunch rush hour but it still takes 20-25 minutes for food to be served. Staff seems to not care much about their customers, even those who return often, bringing their big yellow cups for cheaper drink prices, and I can't remember the last time we were offered a refill. I think we might try other franchise locations for the food, but this location is no longer worth our time. read more

We love dickey's bbq!!!!!! Staff is very friendly !!! Great atmosphere and we like sitting at the bar. Its warm in the winter almost every place we go I always freeze, but not at dickey's. And the food is the best !!!!! And they have a wide selection of drafts beers. I think they have to have about 16 taps. It's not greasy and the meat is always has a great flavor and tender. My husband has been wanting to take us to Dickey's BBQ because they had it catered in from another location close to his work. To start, the server was as sweet as can be, nervous but sweet. She didn't know enough to be left on her own but we overlooked all of that. Now to the food, it just wasn't that good, we tried brisket, pulled pork & jalapeño kielbasa. The sides we chose were beans, waffle fries and Mac n Cheese. None of the food was anything to brag about, it fell short of being the quality of a place like City BBQ. My family has not eaten out and rarely picks up during COVID. We decided to splurge and spend over $90 on a meal we ordered on-line and picked up (and we included a tip for staff). When I went in to pick up my order I was surprised to see the bar area full, no social distancing and no masks. Hardly any staff, including the hostess who retrieved my order was wearing a mask. They had a sign on the door for patrons that masks are required per state order. That was really disappointing to see and told me how they felt about protecting their guests. On top of that, our order was missing 3 different sides and there was no BBQ sauce, which was ordered, in the entire order. We had ribs, brisket, chicken nuggets, wings - No sauces included. The first and second time I visit this place was excellent . Then we kept coming and things where not consistent . They have the location and the food. Most of the servers seem like they are zoned out. The las 2 times where I decided not to go there again was because they served me crumbs of waffle fries and over cooked dry wings. Again yes sometimes is good but I guess it depends who is working the kitchen and the shift. I give it 2 stars because they are able to make things great and they choose not to be consistent serving plates that are not presentable or what you pay for.
