It wasn't great, I barely finished any of my food. I came based on some reviews on Yelp. The woman who greeted me was not very friendly. The two gentlemen who took over and served my food were very nice. I found the meats to be very dry. There was flavor but it was rough. There were only 2 diners while I was there so I figured there might be some extra love that could go in my food but it wasn't great.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Moe's! I got pulled pork (pay extra to add the white sauce. You won't regret it!), slaw, cornbread, and Mac & cheese. The atmosphere is really cute and fun, and the staff were so nice. Will definitely stop again if I'm ever back in town.

We stopped for the first time tonight, and based on the food we had, it won't be our last visit! We ordered a chicken sandwich with Mac & cheese and Mississippi mud pie, and a pulled pork sandwich Bama style with baked beans and potato salad. For both meals, we upgraded to add two wings. I'm so glad we did. The wings were delish! They were big and meaty, cooked perfectly, and seasoned really well. The pulled pork was juicy and savory, and the chicken was tasty and flavorful albeit a bit dry. (This might be because I asked for the white sauce on the side, while it usually comes on the sandwich.) The sides we picked were okay, but none of them blew us away. The grapefruit Paloma was yummy--not too sweet, not too tart. Before leaving, we were already talking about looking forward to bringing our barbecue-loving family and friends here when they visit.

NEWARK, Ohio - A drizzly grey November Sunday, 11 am. Wife and I, heading thru Newark, stopped for lunch at this downtown restaurant. We left pleased. Ambience: Good. Big, roomy, plenty of seating, nifty metal tree sculptures inside. Staff: Friendly, very prompt, attentive. Food: Honestly better than we'd anticipated. She got the smoked chicken sandwich, sides of hush puppies and Mac-n-cheese ($12.50). I got the smoked chicken platter w/ jalapeño grits and fried green tomatoes ($13.50) and fountain drink ($3). Sammie wasn't overly generous with the meat but an ok size for a lighter eater. Cole slaw on the sandwich. Potato roll bread. Chicken was tender, juicy. Hush puppies were crisp outside and not overly greasy. Served hot and fresh. The chicken platter was a generous amount of chicken - took some home. Fried green tomatoes had a nice thick cut, very crispy, cooked well. Maybe a touch overly breaded. The sauce drizzle on it maybe could've done without or on the side. Grits had a nice creamy but not thin consistency. Prices quite reasonable . Plenty of downtown parking right in front. Decent draft selection of a handful of Ohio craft beers - we shared a $7.50 Y Bridge blood orange wheat ale. Weren't fans of the Mac-and-cheese side, which was macaroni baked into a lump with coagulated cheddar. Also would've liked actual silverware - the plasticware wasn't cutting it. Overall a nice B+ experience and we'd return when in greater Newark.

Amazing pulled pork, cornbread, and seasoned fries! Clean, great music and staff. I haven't had skillet corn this good since I lived in the South. A must visit when in downtown Newark!

My husband and I were kidless and wanted something good but different then the every day norm. I have seen post on social media for Moe's so as long as we could get there early enough to snag a seat and food before it sold out, we knew it was going to be a solid pick. We arrived, walked in not knowing what to expect, but they have a counter set up with register where you order from the hanging menus, pay then wait for your buzzer to go off to go pick up your food. The brunch menu only consist of so many items, everything sounded great so we ordered a few things. Sausage gravy and biscuits were great! Surprised but I'm not sure why with it being a bbq place that the biscuits were cornbread. It was a pleasant change from the norm. Personally I could have used a little more gravy as it seemed it was scarcely put on and the biscuits overplayed the gravy which was delicious. Cheesy potatoes- so adulting with this dish! I never though I would like onions like this in my potatoes but it worked excellent and has me reconsidering how I make my own. Macaroni it was good/ok but maybe just me. Buttermilk chicken was fabulous crunchy tender all in the same bite Hush Puppies - cornbread and prob the best I've had in awhile Bacon - could not order just a side of bacon since only so much quantity is made per order so we said just give us the whole sandwich in which they obliged and actually added more bacon to it - YES! Score for the hubs! Mimosas- perfect touch to wash it all down It was a beautiful Sunday mid morning and the patio set up on the side is very fitting for a relaxing ambiance. I cannot wait to return and try their daily menu. Totally recommend!

Excellent experience, I happened to get there just before the lunch rush - when the line went all the way to the door. I ordered the brisket platter. I received several large sliced cuts of brisket. cooked perfectly. With a great bark to them. I had Greens and Potato Salad as my sides and they were very good as well. The platter also came with a piece of corn bread, but cut and toasted almost like you would Texas toast. I opted to get the traditional and white BBQ sauces on the side as I wanted to truly get the full flavor of the meat. Im not the biggest fan of 'white bbq' sauce, but this was the best ive ever had.

I enjoyed the catfish dinner. Sides are kind of small but tasty. If you are in the mood for a cocktail, they have a great variety here.

Our dinners were SO good, we wanted to go back! The next visit was the same...GREAT food, still understaffed. That night the music was far from what most would consider relaxing. We intentionally sat away from the kitchen so that we could converse across the table. Our last visit...and it may be our LAST for good. Extremely understaffed, horrible music and half of our party received their food about the time the other half was finishing. This place has amazingly good food, but they probably would have lot more guests if they were able to staff adequately. Everyone that was working, on each of these occasions, were doing their best to insure diners were well taken care of. Last night's litany of excuses for their inadequacies was unacceptable. The owners should spend some time either trying to keep this great food establishment open or close it for lack of attention. Thank you to all who are trying to do their best. To not have the support of your owners is a thankless place. We truly hope they can turn it around.

Very excellent. The sauces are delicious and based on a 70 year old family recipe handed down from the pitmaster's grandfather to his father to him. I especially liked mixing the black pepper sauce with the sweet sauce. Great sauces. The sides are all house made family recipes. The vinegar coleslaw was refreshing and tasty. The green beans were nicely seasoned and delicious. The honey cornbread was tasty. For $13 I got more food than I could eat. For the quality this is a bargain. Jay is the owner, operator, and pitmaster. He's a 3rd generation pitmaster and barbeque joint owner, and definitely knows his way around a smoker. He's also a really nice guy. I'm quite sure we will return again and again - definitely worth stopping if you're anywhere east of Columbus. The rig is permanently located at 10961 Hebron Road - 1/4 mile south of I-70 on the way into the town of Buckeye Lake. Highly recommended. Dad and Grandpa would be proud...

I was looking forward to trying a couple beers listed on the website, but they were not there. My BLT was delicious, but the "avocado" upcharge was really just an avocado sauce, not real avocado. Most irritating though, the waitress brought us our check while I was only halfway done with my meal - I didn't ask for it and was clearly not ready. My friend commented to her that I still was thinking of getting a boozy milkshake. She didn't get the hint that maybe we weren't ready for the check, and just asks me which one I want. I was planning that as a dessert, so I stared at my half-eaten meal and told her that I'd like to finish my meal first before thinking about that. I haven't felt so rushed in a restaurant a long time. My friend told me that he goes often and had never had that experience before, so we'll try it again - and get a real burger.
