Called Dickey's on Memorial Day to see if they were open. They were closing @ 6. We headed up there. Greeted as soon as we came through the door. Was asked to wait a second while she finished a DoorDash order. Service was top notch. This is family run. The daughter fixes the food & is cashier. She does a great job. Menu was explained in detail. Dinner date Ordered rib platter with 2 sides. Diner date said ribs were delicious and tender. Good selection of sides except out of French fries. The sides container are very small. I didn't order anything as I don't eat meat. They do have free soft serve ice cream. I indulged & it was good. My dinner date would come back again for the ribs. Absolutely delicious. Everything we ate was very very yummy. Even as a vegetarian I had plenty of food. The 2 boys running the place were friendly and efficient. We will absolutely stop again when back in town. read more

I was pleased with the two meat meal that I got at Dickey's. The kielbasa was really good and the brisket was good too - I tried the regular and sweet BBQ sauces and both were good, but the sweet was my favorite. The slaw was fresh and tasty but the mac and cheese was kinda blah - could definitely use some work, like maybe some freshly melted cheddar on top or something. My meal came with a hot roll which was also good. BBQ is known to be pretty expensive and I didn't feel that Dickey's was any more expensive than anywhere else. I felt like I got my husband's money's worth. The service was just fine and the servers were pleasant. I do think they could use an "Order Here" sign at the counter where you're supposed to order so the workers don't have to keep telling people that. It also doesn't bother me that it's a chain - we recently had BBQ at a roadside joint nearby and it wasn't anything at all to write home about. If I had to choose, I would go to Dickey's again over that place any day. read more

So i ordered from uber eats tried three meat combo. Its probably a disconnect with uber eats but i showed i should have had texas toast there was none. Chicken was on the dry side looking forward to the sweet bbq they sent me two carolinas even though i asked for one . Brisket was very dry as well. But the ribs were good. I got The chopped brisket sandwich, and a quarter pound of brisket to take home to my boyfriend for him to try. Everything totaled $19, and considering the sandwich didn't come with any sides I felt like $11 was a little pricey. The meat was tender, could have had more flavor. I got the spicy barbecue and you can see from the pictures the red pepper flakes popping out of the sauce. It actually wasn't that spicy & I felt like I had to pour a lot on in order to even taste the sauce. I'll probably be back just to try some of their other items on the menu, but if you're looking for filling barbecue there are probably other places in the area you could try instead. read more

Terrible experience. Ordered dinner for pickup. Total chaos when I arrived. Plenty of frustrated customers waiting and bunch of kids behind the counter with no direction. Wished I hadn't placed the order but was hoping it would be okay. Got food and went home. The brisket was a clump of fat that encompassed no meat at all. The sides were not good. Picked up lunch at newark delaware restaurant today. Disappointed. Brisket dinner was VERY dry meat. I watched the employee pull the premade (who knows how old is was) package of meat from the fridge. I did not see how he reheated it. I'm assuming microwave. The jalapeño beans were a can of beans warmed with very little spice. The okra was good. I had a Brisket sandwich. I put a lot of bbq sauce to compensate its dryness. The bread pictures on the website looks like a ciabatta roll. We got a rock hard chunk of grocery store french bread. My lunch was 24 bucks. read more

Well I speak barbecue too, and I assure you dickeys is not speaking the language I'm speaking -- they're not speaking bbq at all. At best they're speaking cookout in the backyard. The brisket was chopped and not sliced properly and the turkey was wet from being in some type of water sauce. The sauces, the spicy was ketchup with hot peppers, the sweet was ketchup with sugar. Overall the atmosphere was nice and the folks working there were nice. I'd eat there again for sure. It was a decent, inexpensive lunch. If you love sides, they were great! Loved the green beans. Loved the potato salad. And even liked the barbecue sauce. The staff was also extremely friendly and prices were good. However, a barbecue restaurant should be known for the meat. We had the brisket and pulled pork. Both of which were extremely dry and tasteless. Luckily we liked the sauce because we had to put so much on it to make it edible. I believe the dog will be enjoying the leftovers. I think the smaller, family owned, non-chain restaurants are much better. I wish I Could write a better review as the restaurant was lovely and the staff was amazing. Weak. Wawa's puts you guys to shame. I just spent $38 on a very light, nasty, fat ladened brisket sandwich. Driest brisket I have ever eaten. I'm glad I spent the extra money to get some barbecue sauce on the side. Blech. Oh and the smallest bag of chips for a party size price. Picked up an order of ribs and brisket. The brisket was smokeless and dry - definitely not a low and slow job. Ribs were tender and were made with a dry rub, which seems to be the standard way they make them - not too bad. One star for the brisket, two for the ribs. Either way, neither had that signature smoked flavor you want. Can't say I recommend. Edit: Should've read the reviews here. Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but i was practically dying of hunger so i pooped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular burger and wow... there are no words I am speechless. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (ketchup, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall of specials, so it can get a bit overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself!! you wont be disappointed. And the worker named "Trevor" (if that's really his name) was a bit sassy on the phone. We had high hopes for Dickey's as we could smell a smoky meaty aroma in the parking lot. If you are a first timer, you may find the menu on the wall a bit difficult to navigate at first, but they have full menus posted along the wall leading up to where you order. I got a 2-meat plate, which comes with 2 sides and a roll. The first server chops the meat, the second asks what you want for sides. I ordered beef brisket and a half rack of pork ribs (3), with barbecue beans and slaw for sides; my husband ordered the brisket, jalapeño kielbasa, and pulled pork with jalapeño beans and mac and cheese. The meats were all lukewarm. Tender--or maybe mushy--but not juicy, rather dry. I had to quickly drink my soda to keep from choking on the first bite of brisket. The barbecue beans could have been Bush's beans. Even the sauces were kind of eh. Everything was okay...not overtly offensive, but not delicious. I would have given them two stars, except that we had to pay $30 for the privilege of eating this mediocre lunch for two; their "big yellow cup" alone cost $2.50 each (0.99 to refill if we brought it back, but...). I've been to this Dickie's location several times and the service and food has always been good. Because we live relatively close to the Rt 40 restaurant friends have asked us to pick up 4 - 6 lb brisket and pulled pork orders for their parties. This review is on the review for the party that my wife recently had catered. Although she had a good idea of what she wanted including how much, she worked with the manager(?) Trevor who guided her on suggestions for selection and quantities including sides and condiments. Trevor made sure that we didn't over order on some items and under order on others. His recommendations ended up being spot on. We had brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and chicken. Sides were Mac and Cheese, fried okra, and cole slaw. All were very good and freshly prepared. I even had a cousin from out of town ask for the cole slaw recipe. Brisket - lean and cooked perfectly was chopped and the crispy outsides were well mixed in. There several nice finger pickin pieces mixed in for folks to snack on. Every human I know loves brisket cracklins. Pulled pork - also lean and cooked perfectly was tender and falling apart. It wasn't over-seasoned at all and guests were able to use whatever sauce they wanted for their pulled pork sandwiches. Ribs were lean and tender. These were top quality restaurant style ribs, with no fat or gristle. Cooked perfectly and sliced. Party ribs are not supposed to be falling off of the bone, they are meant to be firm enough to be eaten with one hand while holding a plate. The real kicker was the chicken breast. This was off the hook fantastic. Everyone at the party raved about how good it was and fortunately due to Trevor's recommendation we had enough to go around. I've never heard people rave about chicken like this. Fried chicken maybe, smoked chicken never. Overall we are more than pleased with the food and the service that we have received from the people at Dickies. read more

I walked into this place finally after months of passing by. I was hoping to be wowed by some southern Smokey half rack of ribs on this cold windy winter day. Unfortunately that was not the case. Service was mediocre to start with which could of been masked by good food in the least. Wrong again, although my sides were good. I ordered the mashed potato casserole and creamed spinach both small orders. The patron before me ordered a large which almost depleted the spinach supply. This is my first written review of Dickey's. I have ordered from them three times. I have never had get and order complete. They are always forgetting something on my order. Twice they have missed one of the sides with a meal, and today it was a extra item. I have call them, and they don't anyone to bring the missed item, and also offer to give me an replacement item. Only when I can in, and they have not done, or offer a refund for the missed item. The food is good, but double check your order. read more
