First time at Hood's and it did not disappoint! We shared a ribs + two meat combo which came with choice of two sides and two breads - choice between corn bread, biscuit or one of each. Everything was delicious. Loved the decor and the service was great. They have a parking lot out back with additional parking across the street and they have a great little country store where the sell merch, pre-packed food items, and to-go orders. Can't wait to return!

Great food and service! Great food spot before heading to longwood gardens. I got the pulled pork sandwich called the Hoodie and it was delicious! Also the corn fritters are a must. The crème brûlée cheesecake was amazing! Overall really enjoyed dinner here.

What a stellar revamp to this place! Last time I came here, the diner was a tad forgettable and old timey, but I came in today because the food was legit, and they blew me away! The whole place has a diverse and incredible theme, a delicious menu, and a bunch of great staff. Not only did the onion petals impress as an appetizer, the namesake BBQ ribs were the best I've had in years. The eating space, even for the table for two we had, was spacious and sturdy. Wi-Fi is free here, which is great since the area is no signal. The price is pretty fitting, but the portions you get are supreme. Everything comes with a variety of sides and salads, and despite having only wooden chairs, they were pretty comfy. The restaurant even has a little shop section where you can get merch of them, but also their house made BBQ sauce! Staff is super helpful and friendly. A true 5 star experience! Go into the bathrooms for a surprise too. The interior designers went crazy!

I came here at the request of a friend of mine and I know he likes BBQ. I've lived a few years in TX, so I think my tastes are a little more picky than his, but I'm getting ahead of myself. This place is really cute with super knowledgeable and attentive staff. We arrived an hour prior to the traffic coming to a peak, so we had her full attention. I know the place is family run, but I don't think that our server was "in the family". I was determined to get brisket as I haven't really found anything in PA to be what I call Black's or Salt Lick comparable on brisket. And....I still haven't found it. While the waitress insisted that if I tried the brisket, I would find it to be flavorful if not fatty, it was just too lean. The BBQ sauce was nice and not too sweet or spicy. But what *was* too sweet was the sweet tea. They advertised a strawberry tea and a regular tea. I ordered the regular and I think they must be cross contaminating it with the strawberry tea because it was too sweet. My friend who had been here before ordered a full rack of baby back ribs, with the intent of bringing half of it home for a future dinner. I should have followed his lead when he ordered. He let me try one of his ribs, and I will say that I will be coming back, but only for the ribs. As far as the sides go, nothing really stands out. Anyone know anyone in this part of PA which makes a nice batch of Charro beans? Dessert appeared to be homemade and it was nice and tasty and not overly sweet. As far as the restricted bar operation goes, let's just say that in this part of the country, it is difficult to get a full liquor license. We were limited to PA selections of only wine or beer. Puritans. SMH. Bottom line: stick to the baby back ribs.

We had the buffalo burger and ribs and chicken platter. Ribs and chicken were good but a little dry. The buffalo burger was smaller in diameter than a McDonalds hamburger. They should either make the burger bigger or the bun smaller. The menu says it will be cooked medium rare. Mine came out well done and of course dry because you can't do that to buffalo

Everything taste like it's been slow cooked for hours.

Honestly some of the best bbq in PA. Service is always exceptional. Barbecue sauce is probably the best I ever tasted hands-down. Like I said some of the best barbecue in PA when it comes to words in this situation less more.

Neat place. Food is excellent. Portions aren't the biggest. But what you do get is good.

Happy Valley BBQ used to work with Clem and is cordial with him (I think). If you like midwest/kansas city BBQ, it is a thick sauced bbq. it is very good. the ribs are great, the country ribs are great (but slightly less great), the pulled pork is pretty good, the chicken is pretty good (but less great), the sides are all good to great (but the macroni salad used to be crazy good, now it's just good). they move around. check the facebook site for hours. they cater, a lot and well. They sometime appear at Meyer's Dairy in state college, and currently are by the Bellefonte highschool. I hope to be back again and again. This is a gem and deserves to be found. He also needs to settle down and have a restaurant, but he seems better at BBQ than at management (somehow, he seems like he would be great as a manager too). Perhaps he prefers front of house. WooHooo! as good as it gets! He can't hit the consistency to be in the le Guide Michelin, but the food quality for what it proposes to be, is that good. Service is Clem, what could be better? ps Clem, remember that poor, late, lost guy who showed up after you were closed but before I99 went in, and you gave a huge sample to because you were too lazy to charge him (or kind)? And you thought he would clean the pan instead of you having to clean the pan? Well I ate that for two meals and this is just payback baby.

The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.

The menu was great and service was quick, then we ordered the burrata as an appetizer. Mentioned the nut allergy in our group and the server had said that they can't guarantee anything in the kitchen is safe to eat although some menu items didn't have nuts on them. The menu also says this, and maybe it's unfair to give this spot a four but in my experience restaurants shouldn't be mixing items in their dishes and there are pretty good safe serve/allergy friendly practices out there to follow and I've never had any issues. This is the first time I got a response at an American grill that they can't serve anything. Maybe it's just new to me and they're being extra cautious which is not wrong, and this place came highly recommended so I'm sure it's earned more stars, but would love to hear opinions on allergies and places that don't have "safe" serving spaces for nut allergies. Even the creamery had a nut free station
