My friend commented that it reminded her very much of the pubs she'd been in when she visited Ireland. I don't think you could give a bigger compliment to an Irish pub!

Her focus should be on the experience, food service, and properly training and managing staff. Been patronizing for many years but this summer's experiences have been very negative and disappointing. The neighboring restaurants, directly beside and across from Portabellos, have been holding higher standards without the strong turnover we've seen at Portabellos. Perhaps it's time to hire a friendlier, kinder face as manager/hostess. When bringing things to her attention, she deflected and turned blame to the "busyness" of the towns local events. With that being said, being of her obvious age and acclaimed experience, she should know to fully staff and properly manage her team. The seats will fill themselves, not needing her hand in literally asking guests at the bar to shuffle their seats to fill two others. Perhaps the patrons at the bar sat in the selected seats purposely, and for reason of disability, anxiety, etc. Never had we experienced a manager asking patrons, in mid-meal and deep conversation, to quite literally shuffle themselves to fill an empty barstool. Absolutely appalling. Highly recommend avoiding unless you enjoy overspending on lacking, cold, sometimes forgotten food, and terribly inadequate attention to details.

So she said if we wanted, they would let us order from the dinner menu and give our original food to someone else.
