This review is a culmination of years of less than fantastic experiences with Dickey's. I try to give the benefit of the doubt before posting a negative review but have had multiple bad experiences at this location. My husband loves going here and I go simply to make him happy. Today, however, was the final straw for both of us. In recent years, the product quality has decreased considerably while the price has increased. Today, we went to the drive thru and ordered two, two-meat plates and one single meat plate. All of them with sliced brisket. The two-meat plates also included pulled pork and smoked chicken. Two of the plates had what we THINK was chopped brisket but could have easily been pulled pork and only one plate had the sliced brisket we ordered. The meat was very dry and had little flavor. We had to drown it in sauce to make it palatable. The baked beans were too peppery, as always, and not enjoyable. The coleslaw was mid, the fries were limp and greasy, and I can't say what the mac and cheese was like because it wasn't included in the bag. My husband didn't check the bag because he refused to believe that Dickey's would forget something and I didn't feel like arguing about it since I was driving. These were three of the absolute worst meals we have ever had and the fact they cost $62 and some change just adds insult. My husband and I agreed that we will never eat here again. It's a shame really because Marianna already has limited decent options for eating out and now it has one less for us. read more

The ambiance is what you would expect from a Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Our server was friendly enough. For a chain barbecue place, it was a decent enough stop. read more

First look: 1. They keep their bbq sauce warm in large metal soup containers just next to the fountain drink dispensers. Genius. 2. Pebble ice! 3. They only sell plastic cups for refills when you come back for a discount. 4. Food is a bit slow coming out due to not being able to keep up. don't think they have enough staff. The drive thru was really busy. 5. Fridge full of Brunswick stew to go and desserts like cake and banan pudding. Cole slaw: finely chopped and Th r perfect balance of vinegar to mayo. More on vinegar side BBQ sauce: spicy, original and sweet Soda: bottles and fountain drinks all COKE products. The staff was friendly but would have liked for them to explain about the plastic cup situation instead of me asking if the cups are only plastic and why. The turkey is cut across the grain. As a result it chips which is fantastic because most of the time it sliced like lunch meat. The loaded mashed potatoes are were very good but half way through I was over the flavor. I could have gotten white gravy but opted out. Could have made the flavor balance out more. French fries tasted like fresh cut and the seasoning was fantastic but salty for my taste. The texture was so good tho! Mac and Cheese tasted like a velveeta cheese base. Very southern in elite texture-gooey. The banana pudding did not have bananas but they use banana flavored pudding. I did not miss the bananas with that pudding. Loaded with the right amount of wafers. Hubby said his brisket was a 7. We did not smell smoke or see it coming out of a smoke stack so not sure if it is smoked in house. This spot is very very busy with locals. Sonny's is down the street and I grew up eating it but would come here any day. read more

Food has no flavor. Portions are anemic for the prices. Staff are dull and bland like the food. My first time here. But I'll never return. Jim and Nicks in Dothan are one million times better. Next time I spend the extra gas and mileage instead of coming here. What a complete disaster read more

We sure enjoyed the ribs! Got some as takeout during a recent roadtrip both on our way there and on the way home! The chicken wings were ok but not great as they were a bit dry. Loved the original and spicy sauces!! Staff and workers we encountered were young, respectful and attentive. read more

Place is dog shit. Halfway made my sandwich with cold ass brisket but forgot the chicken. Returned it to the counter and the girl had to ask someone else what to do and so my plate sat there getting colder, they dropped a chicken patty and just dumped it onto the plate and slid it across the counter. I'd rather eat a fucking tennis shoe than go back to that establishment. Have some common sense people. read more

We stopped into Dickey's during a gas stop at exit 149 on I-10 in Marianna, Florida. It was close to the gas station and easy to access. Since it wasn't a franchise, or so it seemed, we wanted to give it a try. This is an order at the counter and pick up your order style restaurant. The aroma when you entered the restaurant was one that you smell when you enter a good Bar-B-Q establishment. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they hand cut the meat as we ordered. Options for sides were plentiful and fries were hand cut. Chicken was a little dry but had very good flavor. The brisket was tender and juicy. The buns were warm, ran through a toaster and buttered. Sauce options were original, sweet and spicy. I mixed the sweet and spicy for a nice flavor. I don't use much though because the flavor of the chicken was very good with no sauce. It seemed that it was busy, more with locals than travelers. It was a nice change from traditional interstate stops. I am glad we saw it and would stop again. read more

Stopped by Dickey's as my daughter's were starving and love a good bbq. My daughter had the brisket platter and loved it. She left nothing on the plate and it was a big serving. I had the pulled pork, brisket and 2 sides which were baked beans and potato salad. The portion sizes are HUGE! My other daughter had wings and Mac n cheese- she said the wings had great flavor and loved the mac. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Only complaint is that the buttered roll they give you isn't hot, that would take the experience over the top! read more

Forgot to write an review last time I was here... I remember the food being good. So I decided to revisit this particular location while in the area. I got the pork out platter which consists of ribs, pulled pork, sausage and burnt ends. Unfortunately for me they ran out of the ends so I didn't get to try. The pulled pork was tender. The ribs were somewhat ok and dry on some parts.. the jalapeño cheddar sausage was good and always my favorite. Also the meats weren't really hot but the sides were. I really enjoyed the Mac and cheese it was very cheesy and tasty. I got the jalapeño beans bc I remember them tasting ok... this time they were a little bitter I had to add some salt& pepper after that they turned out to be straight. Oh I ordered extra sauce but the girl didn't tell me there was a extra charge and I confronted her about that and she ended up giving me extra sauce( which I didn't need, but what the heck). My first time at Dickey's - after traveling through the Panhandle and completely in awe at the devastation that Hurricane Michael left in its path it was time to take a break and refuel. Marianna is about 72 miles almost directly north of Mexico Beach and the destruction here is incredible. Even though I was low on fuel and hungry I was surprised to find any businesses open at this exit but there were a few still operating over the holiday so I pulled into try Dickey's. Just a note: these people still need our help so support the charities that are helping our neighbors rebuild their life's if you can. This appears to be a newer location, the staff was friendly but all of them appeared to be extremely young and somewhat disconnected and disinterested - my first impression here was not a memorable one, I'm not really a fan of the walk up and order at the counter when it comes to bbq but it seems to be a popular business choice in Florida. It so reminds me of fast food and in my opinion bbq is meant to be a low and slow process so I always imagine the restaurant should somehow reflex this mantra. Pork Ribs - fall off the bone tender Smoked Turkey - hand carved and a bit dry Bbq Chicken - sliced breast and a bit dry Brisket - fall apart tender Mac n Cheese - yuck Jalapeño Beans - good choice Bread - yuck I'm on the fence with this place, since it's a chain restaurant I may try them again at another location this location seemed to lack management more than anything... read more

Just off the Interstate and it's not even advertised coming off the exit. It's next to some fast food joint. This is a gem for the location. Really good considering where it's at. I've been twice now on my way home from a sales trip. It's not the best BBQ I've ever had but it's better the most. Service is good and place is clean. I did not enter the restaurant. But the drive by went smoothly. The food was better than I expected. I had the pulled pork, okra & slaw. It was excellent! The man got a sandwich, fries and slaw. This was a quick and delicious BBQ stop for me. One of the employees wisely suggested eating my fried okra with ranch sauce, that interaction might have changed my whole life, I can never untaste that combination. The food was all delectable, they have a spicy BBQ sauce that's truly a real slap on the butt! Don't pass this place by because some vegetarian decided to give it 1-Star, maybe BBQ shouldn't have been their first choice of restaurant. Very disappointed not only with this restaurant, but what is most definitely false advertising. If you go to the menu for the Marianna store and pick the "Classic Family Pack Special", you will see multiple photos for sliced beef brisket and pulled pork. Advance to the order screen (see photos below) and there is no option to change to "(small) pieces of beef" or "(small) pieces of pork". However, that is what you will get unless you tell them otherwise. Talked with Mary Ellen, local general manager, who very curtly told me (without any apology for the web site being unclear) that I had to specify that in my order. When I asked her if the order screen showed the option, she stated "It definitely does" (twice verbally and once in a text. She further stated that they are told by corporate to do it this way at the "Dickey BBQ School" they all attend in Texas. She also stated that the meat "tastes the same regardless of whether it is pieces or sliced." Note that no apologetic gesture of any kind made whatsoever for any mistake or the unclearness of the web site. There is also a lot of room for learning more about customer relations, I would have been fine if she apologized for the inaccuracies of the web site, instead of blaming it on "corporate", (Your customers believe that Dickeys is Dickeys regardless of the location and do not appreciate a "them" (corporate) and "me" local store attitude. (If the franchise owner or Dickey's wants copies of her texts, email me and I will send screen shots.) By the way, Mary Ellen, stated that she remembered my order and that it was ready when I drove up. It was not ready, I sat in my car and watched the girl box it and bag it. It was not ready, even at 12:20 PM,, when it was ordered for noon pickup. It is reasonable for customers to expect to get what is clearly pictured without any changes. Too bad, I thought Marianna actually had at least an average BBQ restaurant. It does not. I will go to Blue Moon in Dothan from now on or even Sonny's, of which I am not a fan. read more

Dickey's is one of the newer resturaunts in Marianna and just off the interstate. I heard that they were decent, but really expensive so I decided to go and try their food. It is a quick service chain where you can see what the employees are doing and you can also point out what food you would like I decided to get a rib platter and Mac and cheese and beans. It also came with a roll. I was told the sauce was in the corner. I scooped some of the sauce on my plate and sat down to eat. Honestly the ribs didn't have any flavor at all and neither did the BBQ sauce. I was very disappointed. The sides were alright though. Honestly for the price point I would assume they would spice their meats and add more flavor to the sauce. All in all I didn't enjoy it. The staff was very polite, the store was clean and I got my food on time but the food wasn't what I was expecting. It's a pretty average BBQ resturaunt. read more

First time to visit any Dickey's. Rule 1, when you get out of your truck and can smell wood smoke, it's promising. Rule 2, the menu is straight up and starts with MEAT, not overbearing in variations. Just MEAT. Rule 3, the server is attentive and guides you through. And the best, the manager, James. After asking if this was our first time (suggestive that he knows who comes to his business), James orients us to all the warm sauces , condiments, and drinks. AND, my shorn haircut and tactical slacks portrayed military....my 36 years of service got us a discount. James' place is spotlessly clean, works with the customer in mind, and that BRISKET!!!...big hunks of meat, not chopped to mulch or slices from arid poor cuts....solid smoke ring with an edge of bark. I've been to quite a few Dickey's, and even worked at one in high school. Over the years, we've been satisfied and disappointed at the various business models. This one was great. The all-woman staff was accommodating and honest about items they were out of, or still smoking, and made great suggestions. I had a 3-taco combo with their creamed spinach. Let me just say, "WOW!" My three year old daughter ate more of it than I did! It was so good. My husband had a westerner and couldn't finish it and my daughter had the chicken nuggets. No one left hungry. The restaurant was clean and the sweet tea was fresh. This will be our travel stop from now on. read more

We are still fighting off the Covid-19 pandemic and this place does not practice what they preach. The drive thru dude had his mask UNDER his nose and two people preparing the food had NO MASKS ON! I called them out on it and they said masks aren't mandated in Florida. I called them nasty and phoned Headquarters. The female that answered sided with THEM. Is would have to say that this place is NOT a vegetarians delight. We stopped while traveling. Big mistake. Virtually every dish had a meat product on it. The green beans were canned and barely recognizable. The Caesar salad had chicken on it and dairy dressing. Omg at least offer some good diet options. Ok the service was fine. The decor was fine. It's a chain bbq and it's not the best by far. Potato salad is mashed with vinegar mustard and extra black pepper. The baked beans are straight out of the can pork and beans soupy style bland with the exception of an extra dose of black pepper. They seem to like that here. These beans have an extra beany flavor that Mongo would be proud of. Mac cheese is over cooked, mushy elbow macaroni noodles mixed with industrially processed cheese gunk. Creamed spinach is dip style with a huge helping of well salted, powered, industrial Italian cheese product. Chopped pork and brisket sandwich is served dry just like the meat itself and tasted like it had been smoked in cardboard. That means they probably use a wood pellet machine although I have seen wood at other stores. Curious--just for show? The only art to making this sort of bbq is the technique in which style of flair you use to push the start button on the smoker machine. Portion size was ok for sandwich. If you like substandard bbq, for the price it is about right for the genre. Staff friendly, clean inside. Must ask for onions and pickles. Self-serve fountain drinks and condiment side bar. Standard corporate fare. Original sauce is like Kraft Original. Maybe the same. A vinegary, liquid smoke, fabricated tomato based sauce. Harsh on the tongue. Ate half of my sandwich and gave the rest to my dog. He eats anything and didn't pass it up. But then he also likes to lick his butt. Smokehouse Salad had a great amount of meat and onion rings, but barely any lettuce. Mac and cheese and potato casserole were average, although my brisket was flavorless and mushy albeit moist.
