Went in on a Saturday at 4 and there was not a single customer. I lived in Texas for a long time and at here a lot of even in Southern California. So just having moved to CO I was excited to go back as it's been at least 6 years since I've been near one. Well it won't happen twice. All I got was a brisket sandwich and mashed potatoes and it was over $21. Wasn't worth it for that alone. It let's get to the meal. The meat was SOOOOO DRY that the only way I could get it down was to drown it in bbq sauce. Like it's been sitting around for days since there's no customers. It had ZERO flavor on its own either. The mashed potatoes had a weird taste. They used to be my favorite. Maybe because they were pouring them out of a plastic bag into the container. I don't know. But there was absolutely nothing good about this meal especially for $21!!! If you're in Longmont go to the bbq place on Ken Pratt x Main in the food hall. The food isn't bad; it's just not good enough to warrant going a second time. The sliced brisket was tender and soft, but not juicy and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were good, as was the fried okra, but that's probably a frozen item. The mac/cheese was ho-hum, and the slaw was what you'd expect. Nothing special about the sliced chicken. We did think the sauces were quite good. One thing to note is, their side portions are the SMALLEST we've ever seen! They are served in a tiny paper container. I placed an order online for pickup and almost immediately got a call indicating one of the items I ordered wasn't carried at this location. So I asked for a refund of that item but would pickup the rest. It was my first visit and the staff was super. I decided to get a 1/4 lb chicken since it's kind of fast food BBQ so I wouldn't have to wait. The chicken was very tasty so I wasn't disappointed. Recently I ordered take out to be picked up. The order was supposed to be for four people and I found the amount of food for the $100.00 to be lacking. The portions of brisket and chicken were very small and did not have barbeque sauce on them and there wasn't any additional sauce included. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Way back it used to be just Shorty's BBQ in Longmont, but it has been long gone and several BBQ joints have popped up since including Dickey's which serves Texas style BBQ. The set up is counter service. It was late lunch on Labor Day, the place was not busy and the service was prompt. The staffs were courteous also. I had the pork rib plate with mac and cheese and green beans. The ribs were tender and tasty by themselves and not too sweet but also lack smokiness. I tried all 3 BBQ sauces, regular, sweet and spicy but none of them added much to the ribs. The mac and cheese was cheesy but overcooked, maybe in the sauce for too long. The green beans had lots of black pepper which I like. Free self serve soft cone to round off the meal. Very impressed with this location. The brisket with the sweet sauce was so good my mouth is watering just thinking about it (really!). The baked potato casserole (loaded mashed potatoes) was delicious. I got the jalapeno baked beans, but my son's green beans were better and I'll get them next time. The food,decor and cleanliness is good. But the staff and management sucks. Went on a non-busy night. The main server ignored me for a long period of time. When he finally decided to look up and address me, he acted like he wished he was somewhere else. The rest of the staff acted like they were very new and the manager simply ignored the staff. This is a new place and really hate to see it get off on the wrong foot with the public. I have eaten at several other Dickie's and they were pretty good. Hope this one gets their act together. Pros: - Plenty of food for the money - good quality meat - Location and seating are nice enough - Brisket was very moist Cons: - No smoke flavor whatsoever. No smoke ring on the brisket. They depend on the barbecue sauce to give the meat flavor. otherwise it is very bland. Boo! - the Ribs were not cooked low and slow. They were meaty with the texture of a steak. I'm not a fan of falling off the bone ribs, but these needed more cooking. I'm guessing they boiled them and threw them on a grill at the end. - Beans were canned. I have been to several Dickeys in 3 different states. I truly do not know how this Longmont dickeys has stayed in business. Usually the Barbeque at dickeys is wonderful. But this location consistently seems to select brisket that is at least 90 percent fat. I have given them several chances over the past 2 years and each time the brisket provided on sandwiches and in 1 pound orders is nothing but fat. Inedible. read more

I didn't order from door dash so I waited. Another 20 minutes went by and I called back and my food was still sitting. The associate told me it was best if I just came and picked up my cold food. When I arrived I told them I was not willing to pay for old cold food I had to pick up and they told me if I didn't pay, I couldn't have it. I asked for a refund and went elsewhere. i went in for lunch last week and the person serving up the food had his mask down. i reported it and was told it would be taken care of. yesterday, i went in again and as i was leaving, an employee without any mask at all walked through the food prep area and out into the dining area. again, i reported it - and was told the employee was "new". seriously, we depend on restaurants to take care and serve safely prepared food - more now than ever. any restaurant who can't be bothered to enforce mask rules may not be enforcing other safety rules. i'd like to support my local restaurants, but i can't do that if they don't care about my safety. read more

I am completely pissed at the staff. Two out of three were rude to me. My family comes there every Sunday. We are made to feel guilty about taking advantage of the free kids meal almost every single time. This time the woman has the audacity to comment that no kids even like the burnt ends on a brisket. First off it's literally none of their business is the franchise owner wants to get people in with a free kids meal and secondly it's none of their business what I order my kid!!! The guy at the front of the assembly line didn't smile or greet me and made me sit there a few minutes to take my order. That's fine. But not saying hello? Or smiling???? And to make me feel their stress when my husband is nice enough to take me out so I don't have to deal with the stress of my own kitchen makes the entire point of us going out null and void. I work for a living too and would never treat any of my customers this way. I am furious to say the least. Tell your staff to get a grip on how they treat people. I don't care if they think they're friends with that owner. I don't care if they think they're some kind of wonderful for operating a bbq place. And I definitely don't need to be made to feel any which way because the season is picking up and they're busy. The only one that treated me like a welcome guest was the younger kid. I will be calling the owner as soon as possible too. By the way, they are giving away a free pile of meat. A small side, a drink and a piece of bread for the kids meal. But they act like we are robbing the system some how. I will try my hardest not to go back for a long time. And they're lucky I'm not the one they normally deal with, if they treat my husband like that, he's a lot more easy going. Popped in Sunday afternoon and discovered that all day Sunday, you can get one free Kid's Meal with the purchase of an Adult Meal, so our lunch was about half the cost of what it would have been any other day of the week. Kids ordered Brisket, Ribs and Kielbasa. Ribs happened to be 2 pretty substantially sized bones, the brisket was a perfect kids' portion and I'd say there was a good 3 or 4 Oz of Kielbasa sliced. Sides were about a 4oz portion. Hubby ordered the Beef Brisket with their Barbecue Beans and Slaw, and I indulged in their Pulled Pork with a Potato Casserole and their Asiago Creamed Spinach. 6oz of meat with 2 4oz sides for $11 is a decent ratio of food to cost. Dickey's boasts their meats are smoked on site, and the pork was moist, but a bit underwhelmingly seasoned. Brisket was passable and ribs were good. Kielbasa was greasy, and sides were lukewarm. Service was ok. Menu is confusing. Not sure we'll return.... read more

I absolutely love this place. The meat is very flavorful and tender - all falls apart in my mouth --favorites are brisket and pork - have enjoyed everything I've tried, including the sides! The staff could not be friendlier, more helpful or generous. I am here at least twice a week and sometimes more. The deals of the day are of exceptional value. Went to the Dickey's in Longmont for the first time today. Recently moved from Texas, so we appreciated the authentic Texas style and vibe. The food and the service were both fantastic! The food was authentic Texas barbecue and affordable for the whole family. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that not only the food was great, but that we truly enjoyed our visit. Even brought out some lollipops for the kids after the meal, and also pointed out the free ice cream. We will be back often. read more
