I work across the street occasionally and started to only come here for lunch breaks! The food is always awesome and they give you sooooo much that it really is a value. What really makes it is the staff here, they've been extremely flexible and empathetic when I get caught in a rush working alone at my job ending me being extremely late, nonetheless they make sure my order is hot and fresh! I love local place too, and wish I could avoid all chains, but if you don't like Dickey's, I might have to wonder about you. (Sorry John - maybe give it another go?) Dickey's is a down-home BBQ joint that ranks as the best "fast food" chain to date. The staff is tremendously nice and efficient, same with the manager/owner. They have sandwiches in 2 sizes, 1-2 meat plates, these funky loaded baked potatoes and salads. We've had ribs at least a half dozen times and have never once been disappointed with the fall-of-the-bone goodness. I normally don't think of turkey as BBQ, but there's is so tender and smoky. The pulled pork... well if you're a BBQ place you better have pretty dang good pulled pork, which Dickey's does. Actually, I've tried all the meats and sausages and haven't been disappointed. They aren't a sauce capital, but the main sauce it's not bad - down the middle on all flavors: sweet, spicy, etc. My favorite sides in order are the baked potato casserole, coleslaw, green beans, mac-n-cheese, waffle fries, potato salad and then both kinds of baked beans. Still need to try to okra and the side salad, but that will be tough to pass by the baked potato casserole & slaw. And, for some reason, that stupid Big Yellow Cup is a hit at our office. It's like you need the cup to be a secret club no one even knows about!! Don't forget about the free giant pickles and ice cream at the end. Perfect for children (and they eat free on Sundays). I like meat. I like it so much my daughter calls me 'meat'. Bacon is probably my favorite but BBQ is a close second. We have it pretty good around here with Famous Dave's but they tore the WSP location down and we've been sorely lacking a barbecue joint. Welcome to the neighborhood Dickey's! You're looking at the standard BBQ joint menu and meal options here. Two meat plate with sides is my standard and my sweetie has the sandwich and side meal. Plan for about 10 bucks each for lunch.. Dickey's brand of barbecue is mildly smoked... I usually prefer a bit more smoky flavor but the ribs and sliced brisket have been moist and very tender. I would recommend keeping the sauce on the side and getting a good taste of the meat before drowning it. I've tried the waffle fries (tasty, cooked to order and there's plenty of 'em), beans (meh... don't know why I ordered beans, I don't really care for baked beans), cole slaw (my wife makes a bad ass blue cheese cole slaw) and mac + cheese (big shells and a creamy sauce. It's good). If you order a drink, don't bother specifying a size, they only have one (32oz). They have a spicy cheddar sausage for a limited time and it's worth a try. A little spicy (for MN) but the gooey cheese takes care of any burn. Be sure to grab a giant dill pickle with your order and take a soft-serve cone on your way out... They're both FREE! read more

Ok, here's the deal. My hubby and myself are BBQ fanatics! We attend many contests throughout the summer months and have had the good bad and the ugly from different parts of the country. I was always delighted when we would travel down south because I always believed that was the true home of good old fashioned BBQ and the only way to find the best.......no longer a true statement. My husband was in Madison, Wi when he found Dickey's by accident. Well he called to brag up this place and I was chomping at the bit to have some. I didn't get my chance until he brought home Ribs, Chicken and Brisket from the Eagan, MN location. Just wow! I was hooked! The smoke ring on brisket had me doing cartwheels and let's talk tender. It was delicious! This is some of the best BBQ we've had near home ....hands down! This ranks up just as good as some southern BBQ we've had. Great food, fair price and great hospitality! read more

I want to say Thank You to Dickey's and to the gentleman that dropped off our catering this past Saturday. He was very nice, he insisted that he set up all of the food for us, and in doing so explained as to why they set up the food this way and in this order, which was very interesting and made a lot of sense. Stopped for lunch. Had pulled pork sandwich which was Monday special. Sandwich was good, jalapeño beans ok. Plenty of pork in sandwich so added to the beans made them better. Good value, I like to finish off with a root beer float, make my own with soft serve. One bad part is if you dine in you come out smelling like smoke, at least co-works know where you went for lunch. Whenever we head home from the cities we make this our choice of dining. On Sunday's kids eat free. soft serve ice cream for everyone after your meal. They even helped resolve an issue with a 3rd party online booking group (I'd suggest just ordering directly with Dickey's). I'll use them as often as our team allows me to order BBQ. I took my 7 year old daughter here for lunch over spring break. She loves ribs so we thought we would give it a try. The staff was very friendly, the food was very good. Would have given 5 stars but some of the sides were just O.K. My daughter had a kids rib meal that included a choice of many sides. She chose the green beans but was dissapointed because they were mushy. They happily exchanged them for the mac & cheese which she never ate either because the ribs were so good! The roll that comes with the meals I could have eaten about 5f. Delicious. I tried the brisket which was melt in your mouth fork tender. I also enjoyed the choices of sauce available. I tried the spicy barbeque. Very good. My sides included the jalepeno baked beans & mashed potato casserole. Average. I would probably try the cole slaw next time. read more

Tacky decor. Why any restaurant feels the need to put silly knick-knacks all over the walls I wonder about. Personally I don't need a giant tv when I'm out to eat, and I don't need an attempt to make me think I'm in Texas. I had the ribs (not on the menu at the main website for some reason), baked beans and fried okra. The beans were good. The okra was run-of-the-mill breaded deep-fried and bland but okra is good. The ribs were fine but not enough smoke flavor for my tastes. The sauce is good. The staff was fine and when I mentioned the lack of smoke flavor, the guy said he'd make sure they did it better the next day. I'll go again since I drive by it a couple of times a month but I wouldn't make a special trip to any of their locations. No one beats Ted's in Mpls for real BBQ. They are a destination. read more

Cheap and quick. I turned my nose up against this place for years. It's the McDonald's of ribs in my mind. So when I went for the first time, boy was I embarrassed. This national franchise is doing something right. The ribs, brisket, and baked potatoes are killer. They are probably one of the cheapest places for ribs. Nothing fancy. Just good BBQ when you have the hankering for smoked meat in your belly, fingers, and lips. I docked a point because they are a national chain. Not a big fan of chains. Had a coupon for 2- 2 meats for $25. Okay, good deal right? I have had Dickey's food before, my wife has never been there before. The company I work for went there for our holiday meal. Loved it!. We would either go to the one in Bloomington or the one on hwy 7. ( pre covid 19). Check the reviews and decided to go to the one in Eagan. They did except the coupon, great. I did see one review about the restaurant had a venting issue. Well that was the case for us also. ordered the beef brisket and the beef burnt ends. The quantity of food was great. The quality not so much. Now I can only speculate that because I was not paying full price we did not get the good stuff or not, but the beef brisket was dried out and the burnt ends some were great and others had to be tossed. They were dried out to the point like tough Jerky. We could not finish the food there because of the heavy smell in the restaurant. Went home ate what we could and through the rest. First off, before I get to the food, I have to say that the one comment I saw regarding bad service is baffling to me. The service I received tonight was impeccable. The one employee, Tyler, was extremely polite and very helpful towards me and my boyfriend while we were trying to make our selection. We were originally not going to get a combo, but he showed us how it was more bang for our buck, and i'm always happy to get more for my money. Also, the manager stopped by our table and made us feel very welcome. You could definitely see his passion for barbeque as he explained the bark on the ribs, and gave us tips for our leftovers, such as "toast the rolls for about a minute then drizzle some honey on them." But service isn't everything. The food has to be equally good, if not better for me to warrant something with 4 stars. And this food was DELICIOUS! We got a combo with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. You get to choose 3 medium sides, and we chose the potato salad, barbeque beans, and the coleslaw. You also receive 6 heavenly rolls with this combination. The ribs were perfectly cooked, with a noticeable smoke ring on them, and a crispy delicious bark. They had minimal fat, yet still were tender and full of flavor. I preferred them with the original BBQ sauce that they offer. The brisket was some of the best i've ever had, and I thoroughly enjoyed it with the spicy BBQ sauce. The pulled pork was good (i'll admit, i've had better) and i really enjoyed it with a mixture of their sweet BBQ and spicy BBQ sauces. The barbeque beans were fantastic, with a slight peppery note to them that made them unique to most places where they are overly sweet. The coleslaw was quite good, the perfect level of creaminess if you ask me (I hate when places have runny coleslaw). And as for the potato salad, oh my lorrrrddddie the POTATO salad! It was amazing! Me and my boyfriend were both ranting and raving over it, and we just polished off the leftovers much to my disappointment. I think it was better than my grandmother's, but don't tell her that! As for the rolls, the manager informed me they were yeast rolls, and I thought they were to die for. Perfectly buttered and a very light texture. I don't understand the bad reviews. Perhaps when ordering small portions you're chances of a 'bad' piece of meat go up. I ordered a family meal and was very pleased. The ribs are wonderful with a great rub and almost all meat. I was also just as pleased with the brisket and pulled pork. Yum! The buns are good but small and the cornbread is average to slightly below. The mac and cheese was really good, the coleslaw is very similar to KFC's (which I like), and the great beans were horrible. Cookies are good but nothing special. Tried Dickey's for takeout. When we opened the bag at home we discovered they had not given us our brisket and one of our sides. We called with the thought they might send us a certificate to make things right. Instead the told us to drive back to pick up what they missed. This was during a 6" snowstorm. The ribs are were overdone with little smoke flavor. The side we did get was potato salad. It tasted like something you would get at Cub or Rainbow, but had the consistency of mashed potatoes, terrible. Never again. read more

There's good BBQ, decent BBQ, and bad BBQ. I've eaten here once before and was kind of disappointed. So after a LONG time I decided to give the place another try and it was exactly the same as my previous experience. The service was decent and the people were very friendly but the food on the other hand, was disappointing. Even the bad days at famous daves or other local bbq joints had better tasting food and food that was actually served hot than this place(for the record, I'm not affiliated with Famous Daves, just a regular hungry customer lol). I got the two meat platter and I chose ribs and beef brisket. The beef brisket was diced(kinda unusual), conservative and the flavor was very bland. There was no taste of rub or smoke, no visible bark on the small little pieces, tasted like straight up boiled beef. Poured some of their sweet BBQ sauce over it and made it a little bit better. The ribs were bad. I got three ribs that was really tough. They were over smoked and burnt. It honestly tasted like i was eating jerky instead of bbq ribs. I wasn't going in expecting to get Grade A BBQ, just some good ol ribs and sides that can fill me up for dinner but having tough/ hard to chew ribs and cold food will make anyone think twice and at the end of the day, I'm going to stick with the other local BBQ joints for now. I've read some of the reviews that said service here was terrible and for the one time I've been it was great. Lunch rush and they handled the line quickly and my order was accurate. For another, any review comparing this place to Famous Dave's is like comparing something to Olive Garden when mentioning Italian food. I've been to several Famous Dave's and have never been anything close to impressed. Now for Dickey's...like I said I've been here once and it was amazing. On par with any BBQ I've had in Texas and not at all resembling fast food or a chain restaurant. I had pulled pork which was amazing. The sides were good too. They even have sweet tea, score! It must been the low rent that attracted Dickey's Barbecue Pit to this hidden spot in a strip mall in Eagan. Budget may have been tight since no drastic changes were made to the former Cousins Subs interior. That's too bad because the preparation of the sublime meat dishes is hidden from view while you move through the line. Especially the Texas Style Beef Brisket is finger licking good. The sides are forgettable with beans and fries lacking appropriate preparation and seasoning. If you can find the place, you'll probably be back though for some more barbecued meat. read more

The BBQ meat cannot be beat in Minnesota. It could easily be better than a majority of the places where I grew up near KC, MO. The green beans had no flavor. The potato salad was not the kind that I preferred. It is a dill potato salad and I like more of the traditional type. The original BBQ sauce was really good. The sweet BBQ sauce was ok, but I have had better. I did not try to fried okra. I am sure not very many people from Minnesota would appreciate fried okra. I was not going to try it because it would have to come to the restaurant frozen and I prefer fresh. A friend of mine did not like the stuffed potato. I have not tried to cole slaw. I look forward to seeing if it is adequate because I *really* like the meat! AND ... they have Luzianne Ice Tea ... HUGE KUDOS from a southerner on that!!!! read more

Tried Dickey's tonight for the first time since I got some coupons from work (as we do business together so someone there gave them to us as a "thank you"). The staff was pretty rude considering I blatantly told them that I had never been there before. I get it, it's later on in the day, but if you hate your job THAT much... quit. Did not honor my coupon but the service was horrible which made it even worse. I will be spreading the word at my workplace so all of my coworkers can not only give them business but throw the "complimentary" cards in the trash. Being a native Texan transplated to Minnesota, I have longed for Texas-style barbecue (Baker's Ribs is another good choice). We went to Dickey's with the Living Social coupon and enjoyed the meal. The kids loved the free pickes and soft serve, and we liked the traditional meat choices (including sausage) and the traditional sides. A down side: There does not appear to be any healthy option on the menu, except perhaps a lean meat such as chicken and a baked potato. If you are supposed to be reducing sodium in your diet (as I am), this is not the place for you! But it is delicious, and it reminds of of where I grew up. read more
