From the outside, Dick's Diner looks shiny and new. Inside, it's kind of a split personality: one side is, indeed, a diner, with the booths, counter and it's bright white. The other side is more like a family restaurant, carpeted and a bit dark. The menu is small, but the food is good. We went there twice, once on our way to VA and once on the way back. I played it simple, with just eggs, sausage and potatoes. Nothing fancy, but it was good. They also have beautiful pies. I don't really like most pies, but I kept staring at these. I judge a diner on how the potatoes are cooked. If they are using fresh sliced potatoes you know its going to be good. Well this place failed. This one does not use fresh potatoes The hash browns are patties like from McDonald's and the home fries are seasoned fried potatoes. The one redeeming quality is that they know how to cook an omelet and the toast Is thick sliced. The coffee and sweet tea is good as well when they decide to come by to do a refill. My husband and I stopped this morning on a whim and we had the best experience! I've been talking about it all day. The service was quick and our server was friendly (I wish I could remember names). The food was amazing - we both got the country breakfast. The scrambled eggs were a bit off to me but everything else made up for it. My husband liked them and I'm pregnant so could just be me. On top of the amazing service and food, the overall feel of the place was just right. I tried their breakfast it was amazing so I knew I had to go back and try the lunch. I'm so glad I did. As usually the food was AMAZING! I ordered the hot meatloaf sandwich with fries and everything coated in their homemade gravy. For my beverage I had Ice Tea. The meatloaf was thickly sliced, the fries were deliciously coated in a homemade beef gravy that was fantastic. Now keep in mind I'm 6'4" and weigh in at 280lbs. I couldn't even finish the portion given to me. The service was exceptional, the waitress checked on us several times refilling our drinks. This is the first time I've had lunch at Dick's Diner and I guarantee it will not be the last. If you're hungry for comfort food this is the go to place. The portions are huge. I brought a slice of Coconut Crème pie home and had it with a sandwich for my supper and their pies are literally the best I've ever had. You owe it to yourself to try them. Great breakfast spot. Newly renovated. Been there since 1946 so obviously they're doing it right. A traditional diner atmosphere. Everything I've eaten has been great. Service was excellent. Very clean restaurant. Fresh baked pies are simply mouthwatering! Always seems busy but the food comes out in a timely manner. Highly recommend! Haven't been through the area in a long time. I discovered that this place is now under new ownership. Waited to be seated an abnormal amount of time. Counter and booths were all closed. Had my usual roast beef, fries and gravy. The gravy tasted the same. Yay! However, The roast beef was different and not as good as I remembered. It was cut into very small pieces and actually had a weird aftertaste to it. And the price went up 6 dollars to boot. Will keep the good memories of prior ownership but, unfortunately, will not return to this place. read more

AMAZING! This restaurant speaks for itself! Jam packed with customers and the delicious smells of fresh baked pies and breakfast. There is a handicap ramp for people with disabilities. There are 2 seating areas. A breakfast counter seats 8, and a few tables when you first walk in. The dining room was very classy. 1/2 booths and tables with chairs. We recently had our monthly retired group go to the diner for breakfast. The waitress was overwhelmed, gave the wrong food to one of us. They reordered the food and it took forever to get. Yelp recommends considering 3 key things when reviewing a dining experience. Food, Service, Ambiance. Based on today's visit, the diner did not have any of these 3 key items to boast about. We heard lots of grumbling around us, so we did not feel alone in our disappointment with the experience. Since we are not one of the regular customers, we just assumed what was featured on the menu was available. Turns out, oatmeal is not an option on the weekend. We were also encouraged/ guilted into ordering the breakfast buffet and since we chose not to, we had to cross our fingers that our breakfast order would be accepted at 10:00 am on a Saturday. I no longer live in the area and probably hadn't eaten at DICK'S in 30 years, but it was just as good as I remembered. We had a breakfast sandwich and the hot roast beef with mashed potatoes. Stopped in with the family for an after camping breakfast. Overall the food was pretty good (3.7/5) the service was good and hospitable but a little careless (4.0/5). Additionally the portion sizes to price ratio was very good with the average price being $10 for 5 breakfast items (4.5/5) The time to get served was a little long but that was to be expected with the busy house. This would be my first visit after the ownership change and I was pleased to see that the restaurant has retained its image of the last decades. I cannot speak to the food however as I left after fifteen minutes of no proper menu, no water, no server, no interaction at all once seated by the host. It was ten o'clock on a weekday and their two servers were busy. All vacated tables were unbussed and it was obvious that Dick's was severely understaffed. My grade of three is an attempt to be neutral as hiring staff remains a problem in the region. However, the previous owners would have been front and center and bussing the tables themselves. When I visited, Dick's Diner was under renovation. The exterior work is complete but the interior was still in progress. The work that has been completed is a nice welcome change with updated curb appeal and plenty of spacious parking. They were busy when I arrived but there was only a minimal wait to be seated by the hostess. My server was very attentive and addressed my questions and needs with ease. I never had to flag her down for a beverages. She kept the table clean and tidy throughout my meal. For lunch I ordered a cup of clam chowder soup and the reuben sandwich with fries. All the food was piping hot and delicious. I wish I had ordered a bowl of the chowder instead of a cup. Yummy. The Reuben was just as flavorful made with real traditional bakery rye bread. I did feel the price point of the Reuben was on the high side when compared to other restaurants I've dined at for the portion size. Dick's Diner was recommended to me by a few friends and family members who have been there before. I took advantage on a trip to Murysville and stopped in for lunch a week or so ago. The restaurant wasn't super busy and there were many regular customers who knew the staff. I was seated shortly after arriving in a booth in the main dining area. The staff was very friendly and helpful constantly checking to make sure everything was to your liking. I ended up ordering the reuben sandwich, a side of onion rings, and a coffee to go with it. The food was alright and didn't think much of the sandwich itself. I was told by friends I ordered the wrong thing and should have went with a hot turkey sandwich. Overall, decent neighborhood diner. Prices are decent and food selection is hearty. Would go back and try the hot turkey sandwich next time. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. The hostess left my husband standing at the hostess stand holding a baby carrier and a toddler so she could make sure to get her "regulars" their coffee right away. To our waitress, who was miserable until it was time for us to pay. The food, which the best parts were the prepackaged stuff they threw in the fryer. The eggs had ZERO flavor and were floating in oil. The steak that they didn't even bother to season before cooking, or the blueberry pancake that they threw the handful of blueberries in the middle of, so the middle was uncooked. The fruit cup for our son that was fruit cocktail out of a can. Or the fact that they charged us for 4 coffees (there were 2 of us drinking coffee and she refilled our cup from half), or the lemonade that she charged us for that we didn't order. I visited Dicks a week ago or so and had the cheeseburger & fries. Ice tea, too. The ice tea was terrible. Are they using a mix? The cheeseburger was large and the flavor was ok. I would use a better level of lettuce & tomato. The French fries were more like potato wedges. But, they looked like they had been sitting a while. They were greasy as well. My family had met at Dick's Diner with cousins from Pittsburg that we hadn't seen in a long time. We chose Dick's Diner because we loved the homemade food and great atmosphere and we all had ate there at one time or another. Let me first say, our waitress was wonderful! Those helping her were great too. Made us feel welcomed. The food was delicious! We just sat and talked catching up on life and what's going on in the country. We got there at 2;00pm. We all had dinners then finished off with dessert. At 4:00pm we had a gentleman come to our table and tell us that he had a bus load of AIDS activists coming in. My one cousin said, ok. He then said, a lot of them have AIDS. My cousin then says well, it's not airborne!! We had just figured that we had been conservatives talking about what has happened in our world and he must have not wanted any interactions with both us and the activists. ( Judging us like we would even do a terrible thing like that!!)The dining room rush was done and from 3:00pm-4:00pm we were in the dining room by ourselves. I had called 3 days before to make a reservation and the lady on the phone told me it was dead at that time so no need to make a reservation. We had already paid our bills and tipped our waitress so we decided to leave because he wouldn't leave our table. After we get outside my one cousin said, the gentlemen was the owner and was just trying to get us to leave to have our table. What in the would has happened to our country that an owner of any business would stoop to that level to get customers out of his restaurant??? Yes, we are conservatives and we were talking amongst ourselves. Normal voices. Catching up on each other. On the world. What's wrong with that. We weren't loud obnoxious nor disrespectful to anyone. Then to judge us that we would even think to act in a manor to cause problems is outrageous!!!
