We first used Dick Ray when our HVAC shelled out a little over a year ago. I initially just called for a quote. AB May was my first call and they quoted me something egregiously high, so Dick Ray was my second call. The guy who showed up was no stress, no pressure. Gave me some quotes on various models and I went ahead and chose the middle level one. He did credit approval for 0% APR right there and in a few days they were installing it. I waited to leave this review until we'd had the unit a while. It's almost made it through 2 summers now, has run perfectly and is very efficient. The financing was easy, the scheduling was easy, the product works well. Since we had such great results with Dick Ray in the HVAC endeavour, we also called them for an issue we had with leaking in our basement. Again, excellent experience. The guy who came explained everything clearly, he was very helpful and we were happy with the service and cost. That was about 6 months ago and we haven't had any issues with it since. I was surprised to see such negative reviews. Not our experience at all and they will definitely be our go-to from here on. If something changes, I'll come back to update, but until then, we are locked in Dick Ray customers. read more

My scheduled AC inspection was cancelled and rescheduled four times in one week. Each time, I was told this was because of high demand for services. This suggests that service calls have stretched their staff too thin to cover inspections. Repair calls earn them more money, so they kick inspections down the road. I requested to speak to management and got no response. A few days later, I got a call to schedule an inspection again. The caller had no info about my request to speak to management and said she would be sure to relay my request. I told her I wanted a refund for my $169 maintenance plan because they were not able to provide service. She said she would pass on that request to management. Several weeks later, I still got no reply. They sent me a reminder postcard to schedule my inspection as if I had not tried to do that with four cancellations. Don't waste your money on a service plan. They can't provide it. read more

Tell you it is $89 to clear a clog waited 24 hours because they were busy! Got there and it is $240. To clean a sink drain. The $89 is for a main drain. I am sure they take a camera to the main and then tell you it needs to be replaced. Huge ripoff!!! read more

I had them out for a routine review of our household plumbing, just to ensure there are no problems we are not seeing. Matt was our technician and he was great. He was thorough, patient and offered us some very good tips about things we could do, but didn't necessairily have to do do. It was our choice. He didn't "brow beat" us into buying new products or get new services. We greatly appreciated this and it's not the first time that this has taken place with Dick Ray Plumbing and Heating. So far, we have had very good service from them and their technicians have gone out of their way to assist. They have always been polite, knowledgeable and friendly. I will continue to use them and recommend them as long as this positive attitude and great service continues. My thanks to Matt for an enjoyable and helpful service. read more

This company is the worst. I wish I had checked Yelp and the better Business bureau before I'd called them. They make it sound like they'll clear drain for $79 but when they get out here they want $300. They were very deceptive and dishonest and after looking through all the other Yelp reviews I see I'm not the only one that's been taken by these crooks. Stay away from these scam artist they will rip you off. read more

We had water leaking into our kitchen from our upstairs unit. Dick Ray came out and found a clog in our upstairs AC. they fixed it quickly. I thought it would have cost more but it didn't. I'm grateful for how quickly they responded. read more

Cleaned my mainline for only $79 same day as I called and restored flow to my house. Free camera inspection showed a lot of damage from tree root. Technicians were all nice and honest people. The office staff helped send estimates and video evidence to my insurance and they are replacing my line on Monday. Dick Ray saved the day for me for sure read more

I had Dick Ray come out to repair my primary sump pump. I was told the tech didn't have the part available, but would have to order it. With rain coming I dided I needed to replace the system to avoid a rain and flooding problem. Well they did the replacement charging me $3,400 to do the work. After the fact, I researched the cost to buy the system and the cost was only $1,200. So, they charged me $2,200 for 2 hours of labor to replace my old system. Fool me once . . shame on me. But, they won't fool me twice. Think once before you hire them. read more

Dishonest.. companies like this is who you want to stay away from. Don't use them. Tech came and tried to charge me 965 dollars for minor toilet leak. To buy the part which is a gasket and some screws it would cost me 965. If I were to replace the entire toilet it would cost me 1500.00! The kohler genuine part cost is 7.00 on Amazon and Home Depot. So even if they had 100% markup on the it should have cost 14-15 dollars for the part. That means they wanted to charge 950+ dollars in labor. Lowe's sells a brand new kohler toilet for 199.99 and will professionally install it for 250.00! This company is dishonest. Don't use them. read more

Charged me $1500 to replace a furnace board that should have been less than $500..But I was in a emergency situation...

I had service call for leaky toilet. It turned out to be a bad flapper. $10 part. 20 min. Cost $175. I asked them to look at another toilet - it was suggested that a full flush replacement would be $500. I spent a little time on it and fixed it for $3. Would not recommend based on my interaction read more

We hired Dick Ray to unclog the drain from our kitchen sink. Jesse was there exactly when promised, was very friendly and professional, and got the drain cleared quickly. The price was exactly what was quoted and I thought very reasonable. I would hire them again. read more

Watch out for Dick Ray plumbing! I had a frozen burst pipe and when I spoke to the receptionist to set up my appointment, I was informed that a repair was forthcoming. Unfortunately, the repairman advised that he could only cut and cap the pipe due to the holiday rush. I was charged $374 for a guy to cut the pipe and pop a "shark-bite" cap on it. Now I need another appointment set up for the actual repair, with all new labor charges. This was a scam! read more

Dick Ray did work for us 11/14/19. The check was cashed today, 7/1/20. Ridiculous!

Dick Ray Master Plumber Heating and Cooling - DR trailer with loose rock on 635N , Wednesday May 6, 2020 . Rocks hit my windshield. I called the company, no response. - Plumbing Near Me - Overland Park, Kansas

Is majorly overpriced It shouldn't matter what business your in you shouldn't charge people 300% labor and 2-300% parts pricing. And plumber didn't even do the half the job right took shortcut that took same amount of time as if replaced the whole thing rather than caulk and hope... A plumber should know that. Talked to owner sounds like nice sincere man but wouldn't budge or compensate. .. Being they were recommended by friend I would of hoped for better but I wouldn't recommend. Watched you tube videos and got tips from home depot to do it right myself. Cost 30$ and few hrs vs 100 patch job. Totally agree with other review wish I would have used this app before. read more

Horrible, if I could give zero stars I would. I called after hours with an emergency & spoke to someone who dispatched a technician but no one ever showed or called me back. So much for EMERGENCY 24 hour service... read more

Was hoping to use this company as they seem to get great reviews. I was referred via my home owner's warranty program when our AC went out on a 93 degree day. Originally, Dick Ray said they could see me that day (a Saturday), gave me my two hour window and we were all set! Then I got a notification from my home warranty program that Dick Ray had subsequently rejected the job. I called back to see what was up and they told me never mind they don't have that window and can see me after hours but I'd have to I pay an emergency rate. When I pushed back indicating this was not my mistake, they put me on hold only to come back and tell me never mind, they can only schedule homeowner warranty jobs Monday through Friday, and by the way they can't actually have someone cone out for two weeks, because they only have one technician who works with the home warranty program jobs. I don't like to be obnoxious about reviews, they seemed nice enough. Just a warning that if you are planning on going through your homeowner's warranty, Dick Ray may not be very helpful. They were extremely unhelpful in my case- ate up an hour of my time with a lot of misinformation, and ultimately could not accommodate the job in anything that would be considered a timely manner. read more

I was very impressed with Dick Ray Master Plumber Heating & Cooling. First, I spoke with Lisa who helped me set up my appointment. Since the referral/fix of my A/C was through a home warranty company, Lisa was great about getting me set up with their first available appointment which was the next day. After setting up the appointment, she even called me back to see if possibly she could help me fix the issue over the phone (unfortunately my issue was a part that needed to be replaced). The next day Cody came out and repaired my unit. He arrived on time, completed the work in a timely manner and patiently answered all my questions. I was very happy with both the customer service and actual service/repairs I received. I would highly recommend the company I will contact them in the future if I have any plumbing or HVAC issues. read more

Please run and do not use them. Their technician came out and fell through the ceiling in our kitchen. We explained to them we will pay the $65 fee when they come out and fix our ceiling and technician got upset. I called the office and no apology for the inconvenience, but they focused on the $65 at which time I told them I wanted to make sure someone came back before paying and all I got was a laugh and no apology. I explained our 81 year old mother had chemo and can not be ingesting anything coming from the attic, no empathy but more laughing about us not paying the $65. We are close to a month later and no update so I call again and finally talk to Jewel who is much more pleasant but states their drywall person is way behind with no ETA and I explain my mom having chemo again and I explain they need to hire someone else. Terrible service for an incident your technician is responsible for so please steer clear of this company. If I hear back soon I will update this post! read more

In response to your comment, Ryan, it is misleading to tell people you have lowered your service charge ($166 for first half hour) when you have not. That is my beef. Ok, so based on this business's "new" minimum service charge of $79, I did try using them again. Guess what -- their "minimum service charge" includes NO WORK. No, actual work is another $83 per half hr. So nothing's changed, it's $160+ for the first half hour. Master plumber? More like master ripoff. I feel like a chump. read more

Our heater went out in 18 degree weather this weekend. I spoke with the office manager, who reassured me that we wouldn't have a house fire, and suggested we wait until Monday morning to make an appointment, because it would save us a couple hundred dollars - so already got a yahoo for both answering the phone at night on the weekend and for being upfront on what they could do. Dan came this morning, he was super professional, kind, and we have a warm toasty house now. He was upfront on what broke and what needed to happen, and explained the invoice easily for me. So thank you guys! read more

If zero stars was an option they'd get zero. I had them out to look at an AC unit at my house. The repair guy told me I had a huge leak in my AC coil and I needed to replace the unit. He told me it was dangerous to have anyone downstairs and suggested I not light any candles due to the risk of freon combustion. I paid these guys almost a hundred bucks for the service call but before I spent 3-5k on a new AC unit I called another company to come and give me a second opinion. Not only was there NO LEAK, the problem with the unit was a simple fan issue! I don't know if it was just this one repair guy or if this is how Mission operates but I considered calling the BBB to lodge a formal complaint. IF you call these guys out don't assume they're telling you the truth. They nearly turned my $200 problem into a 3k payday for them. read more

Do not use. Overcharges, I have called 4 other companies since they left my house leaving me with an almost 400.00 bill to add freon. Every company I have contacted has been almost half. What a mistake I made by going with a BNI referrel. Won't do that again read more

Called this company when my shut off value to house failed, got them the same day but was charged a ridiculous amount of $328 for 2 hours of work. Told the tech when he arrived that the pressure regulator valve had failed in past, he replaced the gatevalve, then tried to open the line and no water, then was forced to replace the pressure valve which WAS the problem from the start. $60 for new ball valve, $390 for pressure reducing valve and $328 labor. Got a Total price of $450 from another plumber yesterday for same work. Never again Dick Ray! read more

They put the heating and air into our house when built in late 2006. From the first summer (2007) we had to have them come out for a repair on this new Lenox A/C. No charge. The next summer we had to call again. This time they charged us for the repair. Who has ever heard of only a one year warranty for parts on a A/C? In 6+ years we have had to have it serviced 6 times by others as we would not use Shawnee Mission again. Always something worn out etc. We were told by others that the unit was to small for our house and that is why it kept breaking down. So, now we learn the house size demands a 3.5 ton and they installed a 3 ton unit. Six years old and we will be replacing rather than throwing good money after bad. Our furnace has worked fine.....but it only has a 3 ton blower so now we have to replace it and add some duct work to get the ac to where it should have been to begin with when installed. Save yoursellf LOTS of $$ and go with someone else. read more
