My wife and I cannot say enough good things about DiBarra Masonry. We needed a new driveway (2500 sq ft). We got 4 quotes before we got our quote from DiBarra. DiBarra was the first company to say "We can work within your budget". This was huge in our decision making, because we really needed to save money. So Renee, who was the first person we interfaced with from DiBarra worked with us on the price/scope from the very beginning. Renee was honest, professional and so easy for us to work with. He told us exactly what was going to be done, which was exactly the surface required for our driveway, which had huge roots cracking our whole driveway horribly. They removed the roots and put rebar down and then cement. And another thing to note, when they were done, there were no puddles of water when it rained. All water flowed exactly as we needed off the driveway. And then the driveway crew started work less than a week after we met with Renee. They worked for three days, completed all tasks as scheduled , and we could not be happier with the driveway and the way DiBarra employees worked with us so closely on what was being done. Everyday we were told everything that would be done, and they were spot on with the proposed schedule. They finished right on the time they said they would, and never tried to have us spend more money for things that were not in our budget. The price we were invoiced from the beginning is the price we paid. We have to give a special shout out to Eddie and Carlos. Eddie was a worker bee and was here everyday for the three days of effort. He was the best. He was helpful in explaining everything and kept us in the loop on all that was being done. He was professional and meticulous in his work. I am a retired Director of Engineering for Boeing's Space & Communications division, with over 1000 employees working under my directorate. Eddie would be one of those employees that in my performance review, I would say "exceeds in his performance" for everything. When I have future jobs done by DiBarra Masonry, I will try and make sure that Eddie is part of that team. And along those lines Carlos, a manager on the effort, I saw everyday as well and he worked very close with me on what was to be done. Carlos also was professional and had a great bedside manner which made him very easy to talk to. DiBara did a brick patio to the front of the house, and extension of brick patio in back. They extended a stucco block wall, and provided large multi-colored rocks to existing planters. Before selecting DiBara, I vetted an number of general and masonry contractors and pavers. I went with DiBara--and so happy I did. They gave a free quote, were reasonable, and clearly knowledgeable about the work to ensure a good work product, without water drainage issues. The finished job was beautifully executed. It was better than I expected. There were no disappointments. They even did a yeoman job in managing to come as close to possible to matching my existing old brick--no easy task. I am beyond pleased with their professional work ethics, workmanship, results--and DiBara. I cannot say enough good things about them and the experience. Rene, who quoted the job, the foremen (Edgar, Carlos), and absolutely everyone of the workers, were, without exception, truly wonderful and caring people--who knew what they were doing. I had the great pleasure of working with Dibara Masonry to get a quote for repairing the cracks in my driveway. As my wife put it, now that I've messed up the masonry work trying to fix it myself, let's call the real experts. I called Dibara Masonry and left a voice mail, and within 30 minutes, Matt Dibara, one of the owners, returned my call. He asked if he could drop by the next day to look at the job as he was going to be in my area. Wow, now that is being responsive. Matt showed up, he was extremely polite, and he explained to my wife what needed to be done in easy-to-understand terms rather than masonry jargon that would have been hard to understand by anyone but masonry experts. He also videotaped the driveway so that he could show his team exactly what needed to be done. As my spine surgery recovery and return to work was just extended, I can't move forward with my work now. Darn. I would strongly recommend DiBara Masonry to anyone who has cracks in their driveway or sidewalks, or for replacing either one of them. Our previous experience with a contractor (a kitchen remodel) was so terrible that we were expecting the worst when we hired DiBara, just because we are newbies at this remodel thing. My wife has been through child-birth that was more pleasant than what we experienced with that contractor. Our experience with DiBara couldn't have been different if we'd scripted it. The whole company embarked upon our job with great enthusiasm, kept in constant touch with us regarding what was or wasn't going to be done at any particular time, made us feel that there was nobody they'd rather be working with, provided us with a crew of professionals that remained constant throughout the whole project so that we came to know each person individually, they did what they said they'd do when they said they'd do it, were unfailingly polite and conscientious...I could go on and on. We have NOTHING negative to say about these terrific people; they did beautiful work on our new porch and walkways, made suggestions that were always better than what we'd envisioned...working with DiBara was extremely rewarding, and we've already asked them back to do masonry repair and to work on our chimney. A good job requires: 1) a clear meeting of the minds on the work to be completed and clear communication throughout the project with no surprises, 2) no attempts at upsells or surprises, 3) friendly communicative staff that engage with the customer frequently on progress and ask questions to ensure the clearest understanding, 4) scheduling without surprises, 5) review with customer regarding work completed & reaching agreement that everything is satisfactory. Renee (Sales), Edgar (PM), Eduardo, and Jose P exceeded my expectations on all of the above... I've never been able to say that regarding previous work done by other contractors. Renee and I easily reached agreement on work and cost and he never tried to upsell me--which is important to me. Edgar was friendly and engaging from the moment he rang my doorbell and Eduardo, great conversation and responsible work as well. Edgar and I had to work through some details--which posed no problem for either of us. When dealing with a retaining wall issue, someone will suggest to you that they know someone who knows someone who can, "Just fix it." Thankfully, we went with Matt DiBara and DiBara Masonry. Matt guided us patiently, knowledgeably and confidently through the best way to address a 70' x 7' leaning wall that is still doing its job after last year's 100-year rains. Matt's experience combined with a structural engineer's input ultimately resulted in a solution we believe to be safe for our family. DiBara Masonry came through for us on a historical restoration project. The job was to replace a large section of a concrete walkway that dates back to the 1920s. The walkway attaches to an even older historic adobe structure, so not only did the new concrete have to be color and texture matched to the remaining historic concrete, but extreme care had to be taken where it joined with the adobe structure. Throughout planning, demolition, prep, pouring and finishing, the DiBara representatives were on time, on schedule and very professional. The cost was reasonable as well. We are extremely pleased with the end result and hope to work with DiBara Masonry on future projects. My organization is often challenging for contractors to work with due to our paperwork requirements, but the office team at DiBara helped make the transaction as smooth as possible. DiBara Masonry recently completed a full remodel of my backyard patio. They did an outstanding job! Starting with my initial contact, they were extremely professional, great communicators, and demonstrated amazing attention to detail. They had to remove my old patio, then lay the new patio, which included brick ribbons, a wrap-around brick step, and some additional brickwork enclosing a new cement patio. The team was very helpful, recommending some design changes which proved very effective, including matching the opposing curves on a walkway from the patio to our pool area that looks lovely. The real test came on the day when the concrete was to be poured and a few areas still needed the brick work finalized. We asked DiBara to correct a terrible job of concrete steps another inept company did. They examined the problems we were left with and gave us their analysis, cost and remedy. They did such a beautiful job at a fair price in just a few days. We were impressed with their precision in laying out the project and matching the bricks to match the rest of our patio.
