First red flag was that he showed up with gravel that was literally covered in mud (it was essentially half mud, half gravel). He came with a helper and did a couple of hours of work but then asked for money because he needed to get more supplies (next red flag) so we gave him $350 (the total quote for the job was $1000). He left his helper at my house doing nothing and returned 2-3 hours later (smelling of alcohol--red flag!) picked up his helper and said he would be back the following day. He never came. He called later and said he'd be back on Monday but needed more money for supplies and asked to stop by to pick it up. Like total idiots we gave him another $400 and guess what? He never came back on Monday. Didn't return calls or texts. Complete scam. I thought I had done my due diligence but be careful, I think that Yelp sends you contacts that you didn't actually contact in the first place. When I look back at reviews, I can't believe I went forward with this guy. He is a completely dishonest person and I kick myself for being so trusting but, live and learn. Karma will get him though I'm sure. I bought him and his helper all this food and drinks and had planned to give a really nice tip. When you take advantage of good people, it comes back around. Good riddance, George. Hope you are happy with yourself. Do not hire! Do not let him steal your money!

We got other bids on the project but none compared to the honest, straightforward communication we got with Eddie. We benefitted from his years of experience but also from his long-held contacts in the field. During the building process things came up like needing the footings for the posts of a pergola another contractor was going to build for us on top of the patio but he was out of the country at the time. Not a problem. Eddie had worked with him on previous projects and was able to get the footings and install them for us. Then we needed to make decisions regarding any electrical we wanted on and around the patio which needed to be encased in tubing with all the other underlayment and Eddie's electrician buddy came right away to help us so that our project didn't get delayed. We didn't work with an architect on this project. It was just me laying down a garden hose to visualize what a patio would look like and going over it with my husband. Getting the elevations right was tricky since we didn't want a railing to obstruct our view of the garden. Eddie was so helpful with this but he also has the smartest right-hand-man, I think his name is Manuel, who saved the day for me. I wanted to extend the patio out a certain way and in telling him what I envisioned he improved the design on the spot! He eliminated one of the steps transforming the design making it more seamless and elegant. A small thing and yet it was huge in the scope of things. Don't hesitate to have Monroe Masonry do your job. Your only problem might be that he'll be too booked with work when you call.

I had to get mad at Edwin for not paying his subcontractor which then affect us and our property. I would suggest to make sure he has current insurances and that all his sub contractors are paid before your final payment to him. So maybe get their phone numbers to verify first? What a terrible experience. The work was decent and is a 5 star. But the business ethic of getting his people paid and affect people's title of their property. Not ok! Zero stars for that. I don't want to hurt his business by giving just one star so I will give 3 of 5. UPDATED. REVIEW. Maybe I should lower the stars though because Edwin is saying he doesn't know anything about this which is now a bold face total lie and I'm gonna post photos of our text messages of him saying he's gonna clear it all up. From our initial appointment, to the final touches on my…read morehardsscaping, my experience with Titan Pavers has been nothing short of exceptional. 1) The proposal phase - Max was quick to respond to my initial inquiry and came at our appointed time to evaluate the scope of the work. I was looking to install pavers over ~1500 sq feet in my back and side yard, with planting areas and an artificial turf corner for my dogs to do their business. Max immediately took note of the drainage issues that I had on my property and came up with a very technically sound plan of installing a sump pump and draining the water onto the street. I was fearful of the cost as it sounded like a lot of labor involved (and it was!), but I was pleasantly surprised that his quote was in-line with the other quotes I received that did not have a drainage plan. After a couple of very professional and kind email exchanges back and forth, we were able to negotiate a final price that I was happy with without compromising the look I was going for. 2) Work phase - Max estimated that the work would take 2 weeks, and they completed it in 1.5 weeks. What a crew he had! They were amazingly efficient and professional. They had to manually haul away 4 full containers of dirt to get my property at the right drainage levels. Max came every day to check on progress, and his onsite foreman was there the entire time to make sure everything went smoothly and it did! I was so impressed with the amount of coordination the team had. The last thing to be done was to install the tiles that I bought for the stair risers. They ended up being a bit too large and each one had to be cut down to size. It was very labor intensive, but Max was okay with it because his motto during the entire time was "I want you to be completely happy with the result". And I totally was. My yard is gorgeous with the "Spanish courtyard" feel that I was going for! 3) The aftermath - We had a full day of rain this past week in our area and it was a great way to see how the drainage worked. We used to have puddles form all over our property after a rainy day (mosquito heaven!), but now my entire yard properly drains out to the street. No more puddles. No more overflow water rushing into my back neighbor's yard. It was perfect. I am looking forward to working with Titan Pavers again once it's time for me to repave my driveway. Project manager Josef was excellent in bringing in his partners (designers, foreman, etc.) to ensure from the design to finish we were collaborating and satisfied with the end result. For the garage, we had it drywalled (no insulation), installation of a attic ladder (bought from Home Depot) to make use of a pre-built storage area, updated garage door and exterior lighting. Front yard included adding extra pavement to be able to park two cars on the driveway (we have the pre WW II one car driveway) but looks like a part of the front yard design, installation of artificial grass (YAY), redo of the front porch to include redoing the porch ceiling with a bare wood look, and installation of a pathway to the front steps. We had 3 home improvement projects in the last couple of years (including this project) and WTG Builders was the best in terms of responsiveness, communication, and setting expectations. Perhaps I'm more wiser too about projects but I appreciated Project Manager Josef's communication and updates and the various trade teams were fantastic. I also took into consideration their work in the local Long Beach/Lakewood area which I think is important. I would use them again and recommend them for similar projects!

We constantly get compliments on the appearance of our home. Samantha was the landscape architect who created the design, and it was amazing to see her lay out the vision. She saved us space in ways I definitely couldn't have conceived of on my own. She said the remodel would be like doubling our living space, and she was right! Scott oversaw the construction from start to finish. He was very attentive and obviously cared about and was fully invested in the success of the project.
