This is a great find if you dig an old-school steakhouse. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the real fireplace with fire was welcome after a cold day of off-roading. The service was friendly and casual but attentive. It was a nice way to unwind! I had the lamb, which was cooked perfectly though the au jus (they call it jelly on the menu but it is more broth-like) was a little sweet but had a unique flavor. My dinner companion had the ribeye and stated "They know how to do a steak!" which is pretty high praise from him. The crudites and ranch complimentary appetizer was a nice touch and the only reason this was 4 starts instead of 5 is that we were wanting creme brulee and they were out. At least that gives us an excuse to go back! Pricing was a good value also! read more

Great stop on Friday night headed up to the rim! Very friendly waitress gave us veggies, and thankfully bread too as I was starving lol. Got a filet steak which was a bit pricy but tasty. Desserts I wanted had nuts but O well. Hope to be back again soon. read more

We found this place while driving back from Colorado, and we had a 3 hour stretch so we decided to stop coming down the mountain. We are travelling with 4 dogs and we let them out to go potty. (Pee) and one of our dogs decided to jump on the grass area behind the restaurant and peed. We were met by a male almost screaming at us saying he did not want any sh*t on the property and that is was a private property. We explained there was no poop and we were sorry as he said it was private property, however he decided to reiterate he just did not want any #++t on the property, when we enquired if the bricked area (parking lot) was also and he just said it was all private property and stormed off. I walked in to the restaurant to ask for the manager and i was told they could get the owner!! Surprise, he claimed to be the owner and we started to talk and i told him that he did not need to come to us with that tone, and we apologize that we were there, he was adamant about it being private property in an angry manner, i told that if he feels that way he should post signs that it is private property and that we would not have entered. He apologized for the language and so did we. However we left as we were going to patron his business, but being treated that way we decided to leave. We had stopped to eat but took the dogs out to potty after a long stretch, shame on treatment of patrons. Beware of this place if you have animals or small children, you may be treated the same way. read more

A needle in the haystack! The filet mignon was exceptional good! The dinner came with a choice of soup or salad, I had the soup which was corn chowder, it was very good. For sides I had a baked potato that had a creamy tasty texture along with green beans. The bread was delicious! I can't say enough good things about the food here. What seems so simple, most restaurants don't get it, they get it here. No complaints or suggestions. The service is good and the staff made sure you were taken care of. The ambiance was fun I enjoyed the feeling of a restaurant that felt back in the day. The price for dinner was more than fair. Too compare the night before I ate at Rene's in Tlaquepaque Sedona which is excellent. Fine dining vs. good cooking, I'll take the good cooking! Don't waste your money. Overpriced steakhouse with mediocre food. I ordered the steak and shrimp. Steak had absolute no flavor and was tasteless. My side was green beans that were drowning in oil. The side salad is just a pile of lettuce with 1 cucumber and 1 slice of tomato. Shrimp was good though. Service was slow. The waitress barely knew what the sides were off the top of her head because they're not listed on the menu anywhere... Weird. They also serve au gratin potatoes on Saturday's which she never told us. Had to ask for silverware after we received our food. read more

I've driven by this place for 15 years when I've taken trips from phoenix to the rim area. It always intrigued me, parking lot woukd be empty, drive back by, it's packed. So the rare time we're looking to eat in the area before heading home we decided to try it out. Expectations were not super high. Before you order they slide you a random assortment of raw veggies and some ranch dressing. Appetizers - all they have are bar food. Fried stuff like zucchini, mushrooms, and 1 or 2 other things. Drinks - I ordered a Manhattan, other person ordered a martini. I received what tasted like Jim beam on the rocks, with a Shirley temple cherry. I was thinking a place thst charges $30-55 for a steak would have some tolerable cocktails, or at least a bartender that knew to use rye. There were no complaints about the martini. Entrees - they have the smallest steaks. 8-12oz. This is what I'd expect from a person selling steaks in a parking lot with some low grade beef, or something garbage mail order stuff like Omaha steaks. The prices range from $30-35. Comes with a boring side salad. When the meal comes the sides are uninspired as well. I got a baked potato, other person got brocolini. Taste - the reviews are right, there is literally ZERO seasoning on the meat. It's a bad first bite. But some salt will bring it to life. I'm wondering if their regulars are just seniors that can't have much salt, or maybe that's just how people serve their steaks in this area. Neither make sense, but trying to give them some benefit of the doubt. They cooked it fine. We ordered all 3 medium rare. The grill marks give me the vibe that it's like Applebee's where they microwave the steak then do the fake grill marks thing on a small grill. There's nothing natural about large grill marks like that. They claim char broiled but i got a weird propane flavor from a semi burned end piece... they also claim choice meat which I am suspicious of as well. The meat seemed like select or below, similiar to the mail order frozen steak brands. All around just not a good steak or meal. Kids meal - only thing of value. Was only $8. I'd imagine this is a place locals go to out of convenience, because they don't want to drive 10min to payson, and then folks like me who are tourists that will go once and never again. You can get a better steak at outback or chili's or Applebee's. read more

I've eaten here many times over 20 or so years, always great service and good food. I generally order a Rib Eye or my favorite Prime Rib. Tonight 7/29/23 4:10pm. Our server was great, on top of it all, up and until I told her the prime rib was thought, tasteless and fatty, and I want it taken off the bill. I also told her that the menu said this was a PRIME Cut of meat not on its best day, even calling it choice would be a stretch. The server couldn't make a decision she had to go to the owner. I saw them talking then sent the server back to me to offer a 50% discount I said no, she said you ate half of it, I said not half but I was trying to find something to eat that was good, THERE WASN'T ANYTHING BETTER. a soon the owner came over and accused my that I ate half of it I told her I couldn't because of the fat. Then she found out that my friend was buying and because of who he is (doesn't like confrontation) he handed her his card and says he was buying the offender immediately turned to me a and said your not even paying for it and left with my friends card and charged the whole bill. My wife and I were in this place about a month ago. I ordered grilled shrimp. When the food came the shrimp was way over cooked, I sent it back I then ordered fried shrimp. When that came the breading was so think I had to try to pull it off so I could get to the shrimp. This is now twice back to back that the food was Less than par. Because the owner was extremely rude, accused me of eating over half of it and then charged my friend the full bill. The Diamond Point doesn't deserve your money. My recommendation would go to McDonald's. read more

Best steakhouse ever! My husband and I are always happy with our meals. I love the veggies that they bring out when we sit down. I'm a vegetarian so I usually go with a salad and baked potato and I'm never disappointed. (The ranch is homemade and I love the blue cheese crumbles.) The bread is delicious. The margaritas are awesome! My husband has tried a lot of the entrees and they've always been wonderful. He loves the shrimp and steak but he recently tried the seafood skillet and has been raving about it ever since. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We love this place. read more

Went here on the recommendation of friends who live in the area, who apparently patronized this restaurant previously. The ambiance was pleasant, the restaurant appeared clean, and the staff were friendly. I ordered the grilled shrimp and mashed potatoes, and was prepared to tuck in when I noted a gentleman at another table being berated by someone who purported themselves to be the owner/manager/cook. Apparently, the gentleman was displeased with the amount of fat on his prime rib (and from what I could see, the fat took up at least a third of the serving), and seemed to be quietly asking for a replacement. Not only did this poor man not get his fatty prime rib replaced, he was subjected to a loud tirade of "What do you want me to do, amigo???" and "This is it-there's nothing I can do about it." Needless to say, I was appalled by this attack, and decided to rescind my request to the lovely waitress that my cold mashed potatoes be heated. (I'm sure the poor girl would been somehow blamed for the fact that they came out of the kitchen that way.) Same for the grilled shrimp-it was unfortunately over-cooked, dry, and room temperature. I understand this restaurant has previously enjoyed an excellent, and well-deserved reputation under it's prior owners. What a shame to see it deteriorate under the management of an incompetent bully. read more

Went here last night with my wife and 5 of our friends (all of us 60+ years old), and at first glance, it appeared to be an old fashioned steak house. The bar was well-stocked and the ambiance was of a restaurant from the 1960's. That was cool until the food arrived. I was a butcher for 22 years in California, and I know steaks pretty well. My prime rib was OK, however, my neighbor, Bob, had a piece of prime rib that had about 6 ounces of pure fat at the end of the piece. Bob mentioned to the waitress he was displeased with the quality of the meat and she said "I will go get the manager." First red flag: the wait staff are not empowered to make things right. Apparently, the "manager/owner" has to make that call. This young man (or as I should say pompous A**) appeared next to me and said "What's the problem?' That was his first mistake. You NEVER take that tone with a customer. Bob stated that he was not happy with the quality of his prime rib because of the large amount of fat at the end of the piece. The man, who then identified himself as "the owner" stated "It's fat, amigo, that's where the flavor is." He then proceeded to berate Bob by saying "It's prime rib, dude, it's the way it's served. I personally cooked that prime rib."(He needs to go to cooking school 101, that prime rib had ZERO flavor). Bob still protested and the "owner" said "It is what it is, amigo." He still proceeded to berate Bob, even after we asked him to leave. I was a restaurant manager for 3 years and I would NEVER have treated one of my customers the way this man did. If someone had complained to me about the quality of the steak, I would have immediately apologized and asked him what I could do to make him happy. But not this "amigo/dude." To say he lacked soft skills is an egregious understatement. He was by far the WORST example of a supposed restaurant "owner" I have ever witnessed. He does not belong in the restaurant business. He is more suited as a bill collector or a used car salesman. His abrasive personality would be welcomed in the bill collecting/used auto industry. Hey, "amigo", I suggest you find another career. My bet is your restaurant will be out of business in a year, or less. The meat was bland and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked gravy and flavor. All in all, one of the WORST restaurant experiences of my life. If you are traveling down off the Rim, or coming up from Payson to have a steak dinner, take my advice: Go back to Payson and do NOT patronize this establishment. You will be disappointed beyond belief with this restaurant. Good luck, "amigo/dude." You are going to need it. I feel bad for your wait staff. Old school Roadhouse, it sits on the side of the head between places you are from and where you are going. The specialities are excellent prim Ron and lamb chops. Prime rib on Saturday only. Opens at 1600 and fills up quickly. The clientele is mostly retired cowboys, ranchers, and local characters. Service is attentive and the prime rib is generous and flavorful. Be to try the scalloped potato's, cheesy and tasty. Plenty of parking for RVs or horse trailers. Nice bar but don't expect wine unless it has a screw on cap. My wife and I drive up from Payson at least once a month to dine, on Saturday of course. read more

This restuarant has been on my radar for a couple months. Everytime I'm heading up to Christopher Creek I've notices their parking lot has plenty of cars. It's gotta be good right? I finally decided to stop by my last time I was up north. It was early on a Wednesday night. About 4:30 pm. Upon entering I was greated by a super friendly hostess. The bartender was also extremely helpful. She gave me the run down on the menu. The restuarant looks amazing inside and out. The atmosphere is great and it is definately a place to stop by for a drink, app or a full meal. I decided on a steak and was interested in drinking something sparkling or something with bubbles. Selena informed me that they have a half bottle of Gruet on the menu. She explained that the Gruet family studied champagne making in France and now bottle sparkling wines in New Mexico. I have to say her recomondation was excellent and the brut half bottle was delicious! The steak was one of the best I have had and was cooked to the perfect temperature. You can't beat the amount of food you receive as well. The price and quality of the food is spot on. Everything was done well and I will dedinately come back. The highlight of my visit was not only the food, but the staff! The employees are all great. The hostess Chloe was always on the hustle and greating guests with a smile. Selena is one of the best in the business. She did a spectacular job from start to finish. Shannon was also a breath of fresh air. Again, the food was some of the best. Our only disappointment was that the steak wasn't very flavorful, it needed seasoned or marinated, but it was very tender. I'm talking, better than Mastros or Ocean Club. I had the rib eye and it was insanely good. The Caesar salad was off the charts, the bread, the baked potato-- everything was exceptional. The owner really puts his heart and soul into this place and it shows. Also, the service was exceptional--Kendra was on it, we never wanted for anything. It was like she could read our minds. lol I can't say enough great things about this place. I will definitely be going back, probably next weekend. read more

OK, if you're traveling to Payson and want to have a nice steakhouse dinner this is the place for you. Hands-down the best steakhouse in the Payson area. They have a lot of selections on the menu. Their seafood is out of this world. I like how you can get surf and turf options. Start out with their fried calamari. It is the best I've had as far as calamari strips go. I've had prime rib, fish, fry and there Wednesday night rib night. All hands-down very delicious. They're salad dressings must be homemade. I love their island. Feels like grandma made it. I really enjoy the little veggie trays they bring out. If you go up there during the winter time, they have a nice fire going in the fireplace. It makes for a very relaxing dinner. Your kids are like mine always order off of the adult menu they have a steak option on the kids menu and my kids feel pretty cool being able to eat steak with the big kids lol. Management does not seem to care that customers are a priority waited close to 30 minutes for our dinner to be delivered. Meanwhile, our grandchildren who ordered cheeseburgers were completely done with their meal. Once we got our meal and it was ready to come out to us, they informed us they no longer had baked potatoes. for a place that prides themselves on nice dining they fall far from the mark. The entree arrived, the steak was cold and the broccoli was so overcooked, it had the consistency of cooked spinach. My husband wanted steak for dinner, something I'm not generally a fan of. However, we decided to try Diamond Point Shadows after driving by it several times. He ordered steak (ribeye) and is still talking about it (we were there in August). I was pleasantly surprised to see they had an actual kids' menu with things kids really like, so that made me happy. I chose to eat sides and was pleasantly surprised. I had the broccolini, rice pilaf, and baked potatoes. I didn't care for the rice, no real flavour, but loved the rest and there was plenty of it. Last night, we were celebrating a small wedding reception of about 30 people at diamond point steakhouse. The owners were kind enough to allow us to come in early and set up an area with our own decorations and other stuff for our newly weds. Everything was perfect and fantastic. Our servers, Kennedy and Amber, made the experience flawless. They were accommodating, efficient, kind, sweet, attentive and handled our big loud group with charm and professionalism. Kennedy and amber are amazing servers with fantastic attitudes and skill. the cooks were on point with the steaks tenderness and all the food coming out hot and delicious. The bartender was quick and made me probably the best Long Island I've ever had. All in all, everything was perfect. I highly recommend diamond point steakhouse. This is our favorite steak restaurant around Payson. We got to the entrance and there were no signs requiring masks. No hand sanitizers by the door. One of the employees didn't have a mask on and left to go to the back. We were seated and ordered when they sat a table close to us. Wait staff didn't wear their masks correctly. We didn't want to leave because we ts the best place around so we took precautions. Wore masks when wait staff came over. Used our own sanitizer when food was dropped off or picked up. We used to love this place but won't be going back. They don't care about their customers. read more

This is my all time favorite steakhouse in Arizona! Since 1988, I've been getting my grub on here & have very rarely disappointed! Saturday night prime rib is a must when I'm in the area. I love the crackers & relish tray that comes with every meal- it's a nice touch! The blue cheese crumbles are incredible! We usually get some with our salads & then save a bit for the prime rib. The fried shrimp are great as well. They are HUGE and perfect for sharing. Be sure to save room for some carrot cake! read more

We were not served for at least 15 minutes while there was a scramble to find us a waitress. someone who was not even working there but there in her night off brought us waters. in the meantime the tables around us were served. Our waitress did show after another 10 minutes. she was disinterested all night. our food was late. it had obviously sat for a long time- dried out - we are nice people and left her 15 % because I believe the management had her all over the restaurant tonight. Rude Service + Burnt Food = $80 After delivering our household goods to Forest Lakes, our movers decided to treat themselves to a nice meal on the way back to Payson. Instead they were treated very poorly and the check came with the burnt food to get them out of there as quickly as possible. One man was black, the other Hispanic. We will avoid going there and will tell our white friends why. We are not a "free" country if everyone is not free to enjoy a good meal at the same restaurant. read more
