They were so lumpy and some of them literally pointed UPWARDS. But I was like "whatever I'll just move my hands around really fast nobody will know".. BUT THEN the first nail broke after 2 days. 4 of them broke in the first two weeks. The lady I had was very kind but just awful at dip mani. $50 and zero cuticle care, cleaning, etc. uneven, not covering the edges, $50 and this won't last a few days. I went to a nail salon in Mt Pleasant after work for pink and white and literally only had 4 nails left on after two weeks! two thumbs, a pinkie, and a middle finger. I've been coming here for around a year now and have had a fairly good experience most of the time. This most recent time however has changed my mind. I had the dip powder done on my hands and two days later they chipped badly on one finger and cracked in a couple of other fingers. It is always an hour and a half nail trip when I go here, and I always carve out time in my schedule to go. I was very frustrated that my nails chipped, and I was out of town for the weekend and waited until returning to go in. I asked if a refund would be possible but was quickly shut down and wouldn't hear me out. I did sit to get the nails fixed, and I appreciate that that was done, but it took much too long. I was a very loyal customer here but this experience has put a bad taste in my mouth. Update: it has been 2 days since I had my nails fixed after they initially chipped. Two of them have already chipped again- I am extremely disappointed and do not have any plans to return here. I was assured that they would not break again but that has proved false. read more

The worst manicure ever. They used a mechanical file on my real nail, I had to ask multiple times for them to cut down my nails and they could not shape my nails to how they were when I walked in. I felt bad for the man as he did not speak much English, but no one would help him. I went into the bathroom and attempted to shape my nails the best I could with my dull Emory board. The coats are uneven and super thick in some places. This is the 2nd time I've gone since they have good color choices, but I will not be returning and do not recommend for manicures or pedicures!! read more

Consistently exceptional work quality. I am a perfectionist and can be pretty picky but am always extremely happy with the service and result I receive at Diamond Nails. I have seen Jackie and Richard for gel manicures and regular pedicures for a few years now and they both do outstanding work. My fingernails are always shaped perfectly and the way they apply the gel (taking care not to get the polish up on the skin), it never chips or lifts as it grows out, which tends to happen everywhere else. The massage chairs are great and the salon is very bright and clean. Everyone who works there is very nice, too. I am always happy when I leave! read more

The worst manicure I've ever gotten. I do have a manicure and pedicure done on a weekly basis in Miami, where I live. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the guy who served me. He had an attitude and he was very rude. 7 of my nails have lost the lacquer a couple of hours later. Interesting enough, the first thing the guy tells me is that I should take gel because I'd lose the color before NYE. That's 2 days!! He even told me "I'm telling you that'll happen". That makes me wonder whether this salon is using altered products to benefit of higher priced services. I am not coming back, and now I have to find a new place for mani on day after. Upon entering I wasn't greeted until after about 10 minutes of waiting. I told them what I wanted and was directed to sit in the pedicure chair and someone would be with me shortly. The water was turned on, and the basin filled but when I dropped my foot it was cold water. There were only 2 other clients being serviced at the time and I noticed 2 technicians who were enthralled in a laptop video. When the woman asked if I were ok, I stated that the water was cold and she stated that when she was finished she would come help me. While I found that a tad unfriendly, because she was only removing polish and had paused twice, once to even go outside to a parked car, I remained quiet. When another woman emerged from the back, she sat and began changing out the water. I said "hello" and she said "hi"...I assumed she didn't speak English so I read a magazine. She cut my cuticles so closely that my toes are still sore 24hrs later. My pedicure was ok, but nothing spectacular the French manicure was too thick, but I wasn't paying attention to the polish being administered so I looked over that. She proceeded to do my nails and jerked my hand around quite vigorously. She seemed as if she was on a deadline because she kept checking her phone and was moving extremely fast. I asked for "pink & white" and told her before she began that I like my white really thin because of the more natural look that it presents. She carried on as if I had said nothing. A woman walked in and she stopped my manicure to assist her, hesitating when the woman insisted that she would rather see her instead of the other technician. After she returned, she seemed even more rushed. She applied all of the pink gel first (to all 10 fingers) and I found this odd because my nails had never been done this way before, and when I mentioned that maybe she should do one nail first because often more pink has to be added, she said that she would be able to fix it if necessary. When she applied the white, I attempted to lift my hand and she tugged at it as if she were mentioning for me to wait. I told her that this was way too thick and she proceeded to tell me how it's supposed to look and if I want it thin she can file it down. I stopped and told her that in order for it to be the width that I desired she would need to cut off 75% of the white and it would intersect my cuticle. I then showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said that didn't look good and she couldn't do it. I asked her to remove the white and I would go elsewhere. She asked if I wanted polish and I told her no. She finished the pink gel, very hurriedly and I left. Not only was the service rude, but the prices are extremely high for the lack luster salon with its unprofessional staff. If I could give them no stars I would. read more

When I came in I asked about how long would it be until they could service me and I was told thirty mins- Instead of telling me 10 mins like most other shops, I really appreciated their honesty! I knocked two stars off because the SNS was lifting and cracking after a week- I had to take them off after 8 days which for the price was definitely not a good value. I will likely visit again though and hopefully the dip powder will last longer next time around. read more

Their customer service was horrible! Like other customers before me, one of the girls at the store (Jackie) was completely rude. She did not speak to me the entire time she did my manicure, but instead had a private conversation with another employee in another language and asked for me to pay in advance (a notion that was not practiced with other customers, almost an implication that I was not able to pay for the service). After she pained my nails, Jackie all but ran to the back of the store to continue the conversation with the other employee. To top it all off, no one said goodbye or even noticed when I walked out the door. Never again! read more

I've been to this salon off/on over a couple of years since moving here. The service is dwindling lately. As a walk-on when i ask how long it will be before i will get my service, i am told about 10 minutes, which in reality becomes 30 min. Early in the day today I made an appt for after 5. One of the male techs who works there said he could give me an appt at 6pm, which was fine. I arrived about 5 minutes prior to my appt. The salon was full of customers with clients being serivced and a couple of people waiting. One of the women giving a customer a pedicure looked anxious when she saw another customer walk in. I let her know I had a 6pm appt that I had made hours earlier. She said she didn't know about my appt and that 3 nail techs had just left for the day. Despite that i had an appt, I was told that the walk-ins would come before me and that I would not get my serive for another 40 minutes. I told them I was not going to wait, nor was I going to come back. I went to Regal Nails in Walmart in West Ashley. They were providing 3 pedicures but Mike, the owner, told me to have a seat that he was just about finished. Within 5 minutes he was working on my nails. He remembered me from prior times and spoke with me about my work, his family. Diamond nails techs rarely hold a conversation with you and speak with each other in their native language. He explained why my fill was $5 more that the advertised price (I had a gel polish on that he needed to remove. This time I was getting a fill with regular polish. I didn't even ask why it was more as I had already figured the reason. He said he likes to let people know why if there is a different charge.) Last time I was at Diamond Nails, I wound up paying $90 for a fill in which the tech broke 2-3 of my nails when filing (so i needed tips when I was trying to avoid those), convinced me to get the gel polish - which apparently costs a lot more) and a pedicure. I had gone in with the intention of a regular fill. Be aware of when they say Oh this would look better, it's not much more. Each thing that looks better costs a lot more. The reason i had decided to go back was that they have more techs and i had made an appt. Mike at Regal Salons, Walmart is often very busy - obviously this is for a reason! Even if i have to wait I will go back to Mike at Regal Salons, Walmart who takes an interest in his customers before Diamond Nails, where they don't care if you have made an appt and take time out of your day to bring them business! read more

For one I came in for a full set with my own gel polish $40 , I find that their customer service needs improvement and they should keep their insults to themselves in the near future. I have tried nearly EVERY nail salon in Charleston since I moved here two years ago. This salon isn't as fancy or shwanky as some of the locations downtown, but instead they focus more time on quality, not ambiance. Richard does a fantastic, thorough job. I always get a pedicure and a gel manicure. Unlike EVERY SINGLE NAIL SALON IN CHARLESTON they actually SCRUB your feet here. It isn't a weak little brushover---they really make your feet BABY smooth. I prefer a good scrub, some don't b/c they are ticklish. Give this place a shot then go to Southside 17 afterwards for a beer :) read more

I'm still mad about how rude the girl I had was. If I knew her name I'd blast it on here. This is my first negative review... I'm signing up to just write this. I believe the owners are nice but I didn't get the pleasure to have them. But the young woman was hateful as ever. She spent majority of the appointment on her cell phone in a private conversation (in another language) which is baffling that is tolerated in a business. She never once spoke to me in a polite manner. She refused to understand anything I was requesting and upset when I wanted to see what two different nail shades looked like. I usually don't take the time to post reviews but I feel it necessary to do so here. I don't think I've ever been to a nail salon where my consistent thought was I am going to become a regular here. I have been to two nail salons in Charleston since I moved here and was never truly satisfied with the service but didn't want to take the time to try a new place and I wish I had just tried this so much sooner. The services are more than affordable compared the others In Charleston but it's not a scenario where you get cheap service. From the moment I was deciding on my nail color One (that's her name) stood next to me and joked with me and treated me like I was an old friend. As a matter of fact for a split second I panicked and thought it was possible that she knew me and I just didn't remember because of how friendly she was from the beginning but she remained that way during my entire manicure and never once did she try to push other services on me or really even ask which I have been subject to so many other nail salons. I ended up asking if they did eyebrow waxes when I overheard another person talking and asked how much they were and she went ahead and did that for me as well. My all and all take away from this is I was able to get two services that are better than any other I've had in Charleston, they were quick, and I also didn't leave feeling like my bank account was just robbed. Two part review: nails and customer service. This was my first time getting my nails done at this establishment. The nail technician did a good job on my gel nails. She was very personable and sweet. Post nail service everyone including the owner was very nice. The next day I noticed two pending transactions from Diamond Nails on my account. I waited a few days thinking one would drop off. Today I reviewed my account and noticed that both charges were on my account and $70 was withdrawn from my account. I went to the shop to discuss the two transactions. The owner was not happy and told me that I need to wait for a statement to come in the mail. I receive E-statements, therefore no hard copy directly from the bank would be available. He then began to speak in his native tongue and became upset with me. Then his wife came over and asked to view the transactions on my mobile banking app. I showed her and she said it will drop off soon. I told her that it wouldn't because the money was already withdrawn from my account. I showed her my original receipt from the day of the transaction. She asked if I had another receipt for the other transaction and I told her I did not. As I stated before, this was my first (and last) time at this establishment, therefore I would only have one receipt. The wife and owner both were not very understanding of my concerns so I called my bank while in the nail salon. My bank has initiated a dispute and will return my money. It's unfortunate that I have to jump through hoops to receive money that was taken from me without my knowledge. Beware if you decide to receive any services from this business. read more
