    Eggs Benedict
    Elisha J.

This is the epitome of diner food. First, the people were great, very sweet and quick to fill a coffee cup, which for us coffee cravers is perfect! Onto the food! So I had the eggs Benedict, but they kindly made the eggs over hard (don't throw things at me here, I have to have no wet yolks for health reasons, anyway I digress) so it's great they did an overhead egg. The hollandaise was yum, more sweet than tart but good, thick ham, nice English muffin bottom. And the hash browns, these were authentic which is perfect, but the tops were crispy while the inside was super soft. So much food! I should have gotten the half portion because wow! The environment was good, old school, friendly people. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the hash browns were meh, and it was mostly just decent diner fare, but I am sure it would be brilliant for hangover mornings when you need exactly this type of food.

2 groups on list for bar. Pathetic.

Why did we have to sit at the door for a seat at the bar when the entire bar was empty? They pay no attention to the list and there is no one greetings guests. Wouldn't you look down the list and those that indicated "any" or "bar" you let sit? Got a "whatever" gesture and sure go ahead and sit. Makes no sense but two other parties left. This was the 3rd time I've come in and experienced this so pushed a bit instead of leaving again. All nice after seated and food is great.

Basic Bfast over easy, bacon, hash brown, and biscuit.

First time in. Had the basic breakfast, eggs over easy, hash browns , bacon and a biscuit. It was... fine. Bacon was good, well cooked, and tasty. Hash browns were likely made there and fried within an inch of their lives( which I like). And a biscuit. The service was efficient and adequate. The place looked like and felt like a quintessential dinner. The food lacked enthusiasm. While well fried, the hash browns were limp. While over easy, the egg was cooked too hot slightly over cooking the whites. The bacon was bacon, so bacon. Excepting the biscuit, which was fluffy, soft, substantial, fresh and delicious. The service was fine if plain. It was fine.

A great diner in downtown Bellingham. Pretty cool, setting and a clean restaurant. The service is always fantastic, the ladies are so kind. Almost all their food is scratch made and you can taste it. Another cool thing, is for breakfast they offer a lot of meals that you get the half size or full size...

Hash brown scramble with eggs and veggies.

Diamond Jims was just recently bought and now has new owner. I have always enjoyed going there, so I thought I would give it a try again. Much of the previous staff is still there. The service was, as usual, efficient and friendly. The old menu has been replaced with an entirely new, re-formatted one. Many items have also changed (some eliminated, some added). I found it a little difficult to easily and quickly understand. I realize Diamond Jims isn't intended to be a five star restaurant, but at some level, presentation makes an impact. When our orders were delivered, I was surprised by their "look". My friend ordered a hash brown scramble with eggs and veggies. When it was delivered it looked like a pile of mush. I'm not sure how else it could have been plated, but it seemed a bit "amateurish". But, it was a generous serving and my friend declared it, "Tasty" (which after all is the important trait). I ordered the classic Eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the Hollandaise Sauce tasted "flat". It lacked the rich, robust flavor you want in the sauce. I think more butter and better seasoning (salt) would have helped. The slice of ham was getting a bit over-cooked with the edges starting to get black and the entire slice too dry. Both ham and over-toasted English Muffin were difficult to cut The hash browns were browned on the surface, but somehow the interior was very mushy. I will, for the present, just consider this an off day, but I would hesitate before I ordered this dish again. I was disappointed in todays visit, but I will give them another try someday.

Steak and eggs with sourdough toast

the food was horrible but i was starved. The steak was overcooked and the toast was burnt. IDK why they'd even serve that unless i asked for it. Which, i did not. the potatoes were good and eggs perfect. For $21 this is a rip off. i asked for new i burnt toast and it took about 10 minutes to get so i just scraped off the burn to finish my meal. She discounted me for the inconvenience but then the new toast had mold on it so she took care of my bill. I still tipped her $10 but i won't be back to this place. It was a first and last time for me. The ambiance is VERY old and out dated.

First time. Food was awesome. Reviews don't match my experience. Bellingham must be a tough crowd on restaurant reviews, lol.

How I heard of this place: On a visit to Bellingham a couple of years ago, my sister and mother…read moretold us about this new Turkish cafe downtown with sweet reminiscences of our visits to Turkey. We simply had to give it a try. And continue coming back. Type of cuisine: Turkish fare - from simit and borek, to cardamom or pistachio infused Turkish coffee, apricot and apple teas, baklava and lokum. We have always loved the foods, mostly imported directly from Turkey. Ambiance: Sweet and cozy, the space is full of beautiful Turkish art/craft - from lighting to seating, from merchandise to the tasty treats served, we love our bay window benches and small, tiled tables that barely hold everything we order. The brother-owners are always wreathed in smiles and humble, grateful service. The music is soft, but always a surprise - sometimes Turkish, sometimes rock, sometimes jazzy, always fun and unobtrusive. We also love the huge barrel "tables" used as outdoor seating under a covered "patio". What I ordered: I was sad to hear that they no longer make/serve their refreshing and lovely apricot tea, so I chose a sweet cardamom coffee. My sister each chose a turkish coffee and pistachio coffee. A hot chocolate for my husband and two apple teas for the children. We ordered one of each selection of baklava available - pistachio, walnut, chocolate pistachio, halva and another walnut treat. Not to mention peach and blackberry lokum. We also ordered a potato & cheese sandwich; they ran out of the bread so substituted potato borek topped with cheese for our savory snack. What I loved: Always the service; quiet, humble, spot on. The coffee is truly magnificent and fully takes you back to Turkey. The baklava is sweet and soaked in honey, just like the cafes in Istanbul, and the beautiful lighting mesmerizes each of us every time. Why I loved it: It's always a little escape entering the doors of Ashuri, and like a mini vacation in a home away from home. Cost: Average
