After being made to feel like chopped liver by another custom jeweler (Paolo) that honestly left me deflated and feeling foolish for asking for such a small job, I'm so glad I stumbled across this gem while getting a sub next door at Firehouse. My husband and I first set foot in the small northern Kentucky store while searching for wedding rings. A good friend recommended them and I'm glad he did. My engagement ring was a bit of a unique setting so finding a wedding band to fit was a challenge. That is until we went to Ft. Thomas Jewelers. Kim helped us pick out a band that worked perfectly with my ring, and my husband found a band he really liked in one of their catalogues. His band was 1/5 the price of a similar band at a mall jewelry store! And if you can't find something you like they custom-make jewelry all the time and are constantly trying to help you find exactly what you're looking for. What keeps me coming back to Ft. Thomas Jewelers is their excellent customer service. They do all jewelry repairs on site and are usually available to do them when you walk in. I've only once had to forfeit my ring overnight and that was when I lost a diamond. I should mention that the diamond was replaced completely for free, and when I received my ring back it had been re-coated and cleaned to a brilliant shine. The reason I had to forfeit my ring? Well the jeweler wanted to make sure the diamond he was replacing would perfectly match what was already in the ring. Moreover, I brought in a watch, not from them, that had a portion of the watch face broken off beneath the glass. They were able to fix this as well completely for free! I needed to get the stone reset in my engagement ring, and Ft. Thomas Jewelers not only had fancy tv commercials, but also a 20% coupon on their website. I went during my lunch, and was promptly ignored for the first five minutes I was there in favor of a woman with her entire extended family of children in tow, running all over the storefront. She was clearly friends with one of the proprietors, but I was the only customer there, and I wasn't even acknowledged until someone else happened to wander out from the back. Not a great first impression, but once I was finally helped, they reset my stone and polished my ring to a brilliant, almost unrecognizable gleam in under an hour and at a very reasonable price. So while customer service leaves a little to be desired (what else is new?), the final results are pretty great. read more

WOW!!! That's really the only word I can use to describe everything I experienced with Ft Thomas Jewelers. We had searched high and low all over the city for the perfect engagement ring for my girlfriend (now fiancé!) and realized after a few stops it didn't exist. I also realized quickly that almost every jeweler I went to was focused harder on parting me with my money than they were on helping me find the perfect ring. Then I was lucky enough to meet Kim at Ft Thomas Jewelers. Kim was quick to realize that I had a vision of the ring I wanted to get, so she suggested we work on a custom design. I didn't think I had time for it, but she was able to do it right there and then on a huge screen where we could collaborate on every single detail of the ring to come up with exactly what we had in mind. At this point I was excited, but was concerned that the custom route would be too expensive. Not at all. Kim worked perfectly with my budget, found us amazing diamonds for the price and had the finished ring back to me in almost no time considering the amount of work that went into it.
