This cozy, little diner (tucked back in a corner beside the Methodist Church) was a wonderful discovery for hubs and me. We were in Ligonier for the town-wide Christmas Open House to do a little shopping and see the Christmas decorations. We got hungry and the first restaurant we tried was closing early. We continued our walk and found this little gem. It's very small, but the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu was American diner, food. No fuss or muss. We ordered the hamburgers served with chips and dill pickles, plus a side of zucchini fries. The hamburgers were very good and I will go back for more of those zucchini fries. Prices were very reasonable. I like the decor with framed postcards from all locations. There's an electric train running on a track right below the ceiling. We enjoyed our time here as the owner and his staff were laid back, yet attentive. Lots of humor between the employees, owner and customers.

Very cute local feeling cafe in the heart of town. All the women behind the counter felt like family and the customers all seemed to be a part of a coffee klatch. Wish I had a picture of this place but... I stopped by this town in the fall of 2006 so I uploaded some cute americana decorations that the town put up for Halloween.

Noisy, fun train runs around the ceiling.

Great little spot tucked away off Main Street. Reasonably priced and breakfast was good. The train on the ceiling was a fun throwback

Food was ok. The service was slow and sort of unfriendly. Wish I could say more positive things.

I haven't been back to Ligonier in a while but plan on getting there soon…read more I loved this little cozy place with a good bit of seating and very eclectic. I'm a strict vegetarian who eats some seafood. The coffee is excellent. I got the French press. Loved it. And I had a plate of food at the time and loved it too. Can't wait to go back. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it be because of the quality and care that is given. I'm always looking for really good coffee - not weak- and this passed the test.

They were super accommodating to us, allowing us to BYOB and providing not just some delicious lunch entrees but a phenomenal dessert to top it all off. This is an order at the counter and then be seated type of establishment. You can choose from gourmet grilled cheese, a soup of the day, a frittata or soup of the day and several healthy salad options. We ordered and our food it was brought to our table within a few minutes.! Fresh lemon water was offered and filled when empty. I pre-ordered a dessert, a white chocolate raspberry tart, and we absolutely loved it! The cafe is nicely decorated with artwork and there is a section of Free Trade wares for sale in the entry area. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. High quality foods served by a very nice staff member in a pleasant atmosphere. Try it next time you are in Ligonier for a shopping day.

The outdoor patio is beautiful but quite a few ants, nats, and mosquitoes. Menu is full of great options. Everything tasted wonderful; the mushroom soup is a well known staple around the region. The burrata pita bread was a little soggy, but tasted great. The smash burger had good flavor combinations but was definitely not a smash burger as the patties were full thickness. I would call it more a double bacon cheeseburger and it arrived overcooked, but the peppercorn aioli was a nice touch. The salmon salad had perfectly prepared salmon and I loved the dressing. In the future I think I would omit the tomato and cucumber because there were so many ingredients I feel it took away from the dish. The wedge salad special was great. Very blue cheese forward but I enjoyed it. Would be even better with some smoked bacon on top. The salmon dinner was well prepared, fresh and the presentation was on point. All in all, I would definitely come back and give this place another try. Also, with some fine tuning this cafe will be well above par for this area.

I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! The name "Bittersweet Cafe" will take on a deeper meaning (the news articles can be found in the walls before the counter by the bathrooms). Cheers Bittersweet, thanks for having me, and God bless!

This is probably not the place to come when you have a time crunch, but if you can eat a leisurely meal, come on! I had the Bittersweet chicken salad sandwich and we shared a peanut butter mousse dessert, both were great!
