A shoddy company, recommended by Frigidaire to repair a warped stove top on a brand new stove. Dimitri, the service man was unable (or unwilling) to figure out how to repair this. He came first to evaluate and returned the following week with another top, which was similarly warped. Both times he was angry, uncommunicative and kept muttering,"this isn't my problem." In the end, my contractor removed the top, bent it slightly, put it back and resolved the issue. I would give this company 0 stars if possible. I've used Dial Appliance twice. One for my washer/dryer unit back in 2010 - at which point, they were excellent. Then in late Jan 2012, the ice in my ice maker in my fridge started to melt and create chucks of ice.... We called Dial Appliance for an appointment. First they told us it was the ice maker - so we paid close to $250 for a new ice maker unit. That worked for 2 days, then same thing happened again. We called them back and told them the other owners from my building have experienced the same thing and it was because of the computer board...This time they said it was the water value and not the computer board - now this time we paid close to $70 for the value. That again worked for 2 days and failed. Before they came back for the third time, we followed their instruction and did a complete overnight defrost. This time, they had a more thorough check and guy was honest and said he will check with his boss because he's not sure what the issue was. He believed it was the evaporator, but definitely not the computer board.... Well, we got a call back 2 days later and indicated it was the compressor that was broken - which will cost $700 + labor. Well, long story short, I paid $100 and called a certified GE tech... and guess what?! It was the computer board. Even though I paid another $150, but at least the problem is now fixed.... Don't get me wrong, the service people and dispatchers are extremely nice (in all instances)... BUT, I just think if they don't know the root cause, just tell the customer rather than keep charging them for parts that weren't broken. I would have given them a 5 star for the washer / dryer experience, but a 1 for the refrigerator service.... So all in all, 3 stars. read more

THEY DESERVE NEGATIVE STARS! So, I called up Dial and told them the exact model number and manufacturer of my air conditioner. We set up an appointment, in which they gave us a 4-hour range. The service repairman (who was very pleasant) arrived 2.5 hours late. Upon looking at the system for less than 5 minutes, he said that he could not fix it. He also said that DIAL DOES NOT provide any service for the model and system we have. So, DIAL WASTED 6 HOURS OF MY TIME. In short, you cannot trust anything they say on the phone. I am one of the hardest critical reviewers. You gotta really do well to get 5 stars from me. I really like Dial Appliance Repair. They are great under a warranty appliance plan used by Sears. Dial appliance came out to my house years ago and recently. I have only had nice caring people over the phone. The appointment and follow up caller which is a lady, she's very nice. All of the service men 2, I've met were the best. Very knowledgeable, dedicated & stuck to their word. If they could not get the part they would try other measures. The first time 4 years ago Frigidaire Electrolux made very expensive Affinity washing machines. Dial came out 2 times under extended warranty and tried very hard to fix an all plastic interior machine. Each piece was cheap plastic, what a shock. The exterior was the same a chrome like plastic even the front plate motor board. I watched them replace so much & it still did not work. If I did not have a plan I would have lost out & over $1000.00. With the plan the washing machine was replaced for free. This washing machine was beautiful outside powder blue & did not work for a couple of months, it was just sitting prettying doing NOTHING. I went back to the old sturdy white washing machine and gained a refund of a few hundred dollars. Recently Dial came to my home October 2015 & replaced a LG refrigerator part. They ordered the slide in draw part & had it sent by UPS to my home within 1 week. Also Sears will contact you again for a follow up & a repair review of the service. A great company, please give them a chance. I did & would call them with or without a warranty. The problem is not DIAL Appliance its FRIGIDAIRE / ELECTROLUX. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! The company performed a service call to identify problems in my over-the-stove microwave and dishwasher. Service call went OK, and the technicians quickly identified the problems. However, when I called the next day to find out the cost of repair I was blown away by the ridiculously high asking price. To replace a the turntable motor in the microwave they quoted at $219 and to replace a broke drain pump in the dishwasher $269. The company does offer to subtract the service call fee if you decide to go through with the repairs. Even so, I looked for the broken parts on the internet, the mircrowave motor par was $19 and the dishwasher pump part was $60, which means minus the service call fee they would still collect $328 labor fee(without parts included). That is way too greedy! How many hours where they planning to spend installing 2 parts? The guy on the phone gave me some lame excuse about labor & parts being almost expensive as replacing the units with new appliances, said something about his industry dying because the cost to replace is cheaper. I just called other providers and got quoted cheaper labor rates, bought the parts myself and was done with it. Saved myself over $130 by doing a little extra. read more

I would certainly not recommend Dial. They repaired a dishwasher door at my apartment -- a repair that took less than ten minutes, BTW -- and charged $175. It would have made more sense to buy a new dishwasher, but the repairman from Dial was REALLY persuasive in insisting that old dishwashers were better, blah, blah, blah. Less than a year later, the door is broken again. Despite the fact that I use the dishwasher only about once a week, the supervisor told me the problem could only have occurred through "customer abuse." How about the fact that his repairman talked us into going with a fix over a new appliance? Well, he said, that was only "my word." He added, "My advice? Get a new dishwasher." The warranty was 90 days but under the circumstances, I thought they'd be reasonable. Do not expect reason from Dial! The supervisor could not have been ruder and less helpful. The upshot: half the price of a new dishwasher was spent on a repair that lasted less than a year, and now a new one will have to be purchased anyway. Dial will NOT be installing it. read more

My Samsung french door fridge ice maker broke after almost 3 years. I have an extended warranty that I took out from the place that I bought the fridge. When I called the warranty company they dispatched Dial Appliances. The ladies on the phone, (Margaret and Maria) were totally professional and so nice. They told me the repair guy would be coming last Friday the 21st of May between 10 and 4. He called at 9.30 saying he would be here in a half hour, he was here in 20 mins. His name is Ishmael and he was totally professional and knew his stuff. He used to work for Samsung and said that the problem with the icemaker is a known issue with Samsung. He replaced the whole icemaker and the circuit board. I asked him how long it will take to get ice. He said about 24 hours, but the icemaker started to produce ice in about 5 hours and today, 2 days later we have lots of ice. I am hoping that this icemaker won't break again, but if it does, that is a Samsung problem, not Dial's. I highly recommend Dial Appliances as they are totally professional and very nice. Ask for Ishmael for your repair person. He is really great! I'm hoping that this Samsung icemaker will last more than 3 years. read more

I had a great experience with Dial from the moment I first dialed their number. It was pleasant and easy to schedule an appointment. Sergy came out to fix my ice maker. Turned out, the problem was very minor, didn't require any new parts. I appreciated that Sergy didn't try to amplify the problem, sell me parts I didn't need, etc. He left me with a working ice machine and a very reasonable charge for his service. Very happy with Dial. We were having a problem with our refrigerator. The repairman arrived promptly, inspected the refrigerator and said that nothing was broken. I just needed to unplug it for a day to melt some ice that had accumulated. There was a $50 service charge (not as much as some other repair people have charged), but it could have been much more expensive if it had been a dishonest person saying that parts needed to be replaced. read more

I love these guys! I had a warranty from Frigidaire and they were an option. First it was my fridge, months later my microwave, months later the stove. All new appliances that had some minor issues. Maybe this is a sign I shouldn't continue buying from this company. Anyway, back to Dial Appliance. All three times, they were professional and even e-mailed when a part they did not have on hand came in. Professionalism over the phone a plus, of course. Just awful service. Extended warranty company Square Trade contracted them to fix my dishwasher and I think they took Square Trade for a ride. First, the say stay home all day because their time frame is 10- 4pm! The guy gets here and says it's fixed in under 5 minutes. Lo' and behold, I try it out that evening and it's not fixed. I suspect he finagled with the filter as they say you could do on the internet. Even the internet says it may work temporarily but you will need to replace the part. I call the next day and they will order a part but will call me back when they get a time estimate of the part delivery. They never called back; we had to call them. The guy returns two weeks later, 'fixes' it and leaves a mess on my kitchen counter but is exasperated when we ask him to take the mess away. Again, that evening, the dishwasher still doesn't work. They now need to order another part and finally Square Trade says no more and just pays us outright for a new dishwasher instead. At no time did Dial Appliance ever call us back to say they can't fix it or that Square Trade denied them a claim for a third repair. Stay away from these guys. 1. they want to bleed your wallet dry 2. even when they are getting paid, they still don't know what the heck they are doing 3. Customer service is awful! Even cable companies nowadays give you a better time window 4. They don't ever bother calling you back to give you updates. read more

Tried to get my Bosch dishwasher repaired twice with this company. Both times the technician blamed me for the problem. First because I was using too much soap, so I started using extremely small amounts, then when that didn't work, it was because I was not cleaning the machine (not the trap and filter) at least once a month. I am not in a hard water area. Called Bosch and was told that didn't make any sense. Basically they did nothing and added insult to injury by blaming me for the problem. Un-Believable! They tell you they charge $75 if you don't let them do the repair. They must use that a lot!! Simple igniter for a stove and they want $225 to fix it!! "These are very expensive" Nope Nope Nope!! I kicked him out of my house and went to Amazon and the part was $20. $20!!!! I'll do it myself for $205! Un-Believable. Yes, They got their $75 out of me. Also, I gave them make and model and they brought No Parts, so they could charge for a 2nd visit. I used to do this on the side. Parts places have No Problem fronting equip for a job. Just return unused unopened. Quite a scam these guys have going. UPDATE: Okay, To be fair. This job was harder than expected. The mounting screws stripped and I spent Hours trying to get them out. (That $225 started to look pretty good.) Finally butchered it and got it out. Install went fine. FYI for DIYers: I cut notches out of the new mounting bracket and was able to slip it over the screw shafts and then just tighten them down. Never did get the screws all of the way out. While this took longer than expected and was high on the frustration meter, I am pretty confident that the repairman would have had the same issue and increased the bill to cover additional time taken. Overall, glad I did it myself. If I had it to do over? I would have bought the new stove off Craigslist for $275. and been done with it. read more

Once again the repair guy Steve came to my house, hit one button on the washer (this was his second visit to my house) and says, "I did a full diagnostic check everything is fine. I had a leak the last time he came and had to pay a plumber $400 to fix Steve's error. This company comes out to your house and does not repair anything. They pass the buck and are absolutely rude to their customers. I would not hire them as a third party vendor if I were a big corporation or a consumer. read more

I am extremely impressed with this company. They sent two technicians to repair my dryer, a tricky foreign model. The men spent a very long time trying to identify the problem. Unfortunately, although the technicians seemed highly competent, the repair required information from the company and it turned out that Dial is not the factory authorized servicer, so they could not get the information. I had thought Dial was factory authorized. Clearly they were already losing money on this, but when I spoke with the supervisor about it, he volunteered to refund our charge completely because of the misunderstanding. If you've dealt with any repair companies in New York, you know that is shocking! -- they start from the premise that 'the customer is always wrong.' Dial earned my business from now on. read more

They did nothing to help the situation meaning they did nothing to find a refrigerator part for a broken fridge in July. The service technician Sergey was awesome. He told me my fan was broken and it therefore translated to a broken motor. The freezer was also iced up and therefore the fan couldn't move and therefore it harmed the motor. Makes sense. After paying their service charge of $50, I was told that it was the fan and the evaporator fan motor that needed replacing. With the serial and codes in tow, I called CAPS APPLIANCE on 2016 Utica Avenue, Brooklyn and got the part. Previously I was quoted the price of $269 by DIAL APPLIANCE and once I stated the price was too high, they took $20 off. After calling later on to find out the price of the part, which they said no, they don't sell it. But after he contacted Sergey, he came up with $79.10 for the part. $7.00 for the fan and $129 est for other. But still the numbers don't add up. They are overpriced, although Sergey is super sweet. He does good work but he should have knowN the installation price without calling his boss. This seemed suspect. It took him no time to take refrigerator apart. He seemed not to have used any tools but when I took it apart, I removed 2 screws. That's it. Cmon people I wasn't born yesterday. I can get companies from CAPS APPLIANCE. And pay much less. They only supply PARTS. read more

I'd bought a Frigidaire Professional series French Door fridge about 5 years ago. The ice maker never worked and was replaced within the 1 year warranty. Still never worked. Five years later after being very tired of not getting ice from an expensive piece of kitchen furniture, I contacted Dial Appliance. They worked within my available time frame was very prompt and the tech Oleg was courteous. My problem was accessed and the following week he returned to install the new Ice maker parts. A couple of issues have developed where now the ice maker is leaking water and it made ice for one day after it was installed. Hopefully, the problem will be fixed when he returns! These guys were good. Gave me an appointment the next day (a Saturday), arrived on time, with all the right tools and parts. Did the job and thoroughly tested the machine after he was done. No attitude, and no attempts to sell me unnecessary repairs. They weren't particularly cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. One thing, get an appointment in the morning if you can. I share the strong negative experience with Dial Appliance Service in Brooklyn. They arrived with one price and the price kept going up. He just 'happened' to have a part in the truck that doubled the price I was expecting. He had already dismantled the machine by that point. I later learned that the part that was replaced had nothing to do with the symptom I was experiencing. I made the mistake of leaving him alone in the room to take care of a work emergency by e-mail. No repairman should be left alone in your house . By the time he left, the cost was about 75% of a new machine. I had no choice since the parts were on the floor. The part in the truck was a different size than the part he was replacing. Be safe. Be careful. Have your guard up when you let anyone into your house. read more
