DHL has been a horrendous experience. This is not the first or second time that I've experienced a supposed "address change" with DHL. It's a crock! I purchased items and had two large international packages shipped to my home office address. Not only did the packages supposedly receive an "automatic address update," but I also had to go back and forth repeatedly just to get a representative on the line, reach someone capable, and get the situation sorted out. What kills me is that I paid good money for the packages to be delivered to the actual location -- not to be picked up. It's very interesting how, all of a sudden, some phantom person supposedly changed the delivery location. I was instructed by DHL to "pick my package up." Neither I nor the shipper (whom I know personally) changed the instructions. DHL simply didn't want to deliver it, so they pulled something shady. I do not enjoy doing business with DHL. I hate their process and customer service dynamic. After 2.5 freaking weeks, I finally received my packages, but lost money and incurred other issues due to the tardiness of the package, unnecessarily. Outrageous. read more

I don't know if the delivery driver for my package was based in this location but that SOB of a person is so lazy as to not do a short walk to my house to knock on my door or give me a phone call when he is tasked to deliver my package. He just leaves and claims that there was no response and so did not leave my package! Response to what??? I work from home and I did not hear anyone by my door. I have a camera focused on the approach to my front door! Apparently, he cannot even make a phone call! DHL continues to demonstrate a lack of care for non-business customers by providing insufficient tracking information. No updates has been given to their tracking systems in years. Forcing customers to hyperattentive to a sudden "Delivered" update by 9PM is an act of bullying. At least provide us with an updated city location so customers can plan accordingly. I've been housebound ill this week and medication has forced me to sleep every few hours; I can't take my medication and rest adequately due to DHL ableist practices. Others in the same building have been known to camp outside for the day to ensure their package gets delivered. We don't need FedEx or UPS level tracking, but we do need more than our package has left a sorting facility. read more

I ordered a part through Rock Auto and needed the part very quickly so I paid extra shipping through DHL Express to get the part a week sooner than regular shipping. On the day of delivery they tried to deliver the package to the wrong address in a town 1 hour away but stated no on was home to sign for the package so it went back to the warehouse. It sat for 2 days after making phone calls trying to get the package. It ended up being 3 days late do to them not bringing it to the right address. I then filed a claim to get a refund on the shipping. This company responds with they can not issue a refund because I was not the one who paid for the part or the shipping and I was not on the billing address. How stupid can someone be when the shipping and billing address are the same and it came to that address. And it was my bank card with my name and address that was used to order the part and pay for the extra shipping. I will never use this shipping company again and I will do my best to spread it for others not to be screwed over on shipping and money read more

I have mutiple items to Mexico, its not th cheapest service but the most reliable. The process was quick and efficient, making my experience smooth and stress-free. I had my toddler with me, which can make shipping a bit challenging, but the staff went above and beyond to assist me. Their helpful and friendly attitude made all the difference. read more

We have suffered for years from DHL changing our address on the packages delivered, usually from Europe. We get notices that deliveries have failed because there is no one at our address, which is not true. DHL changes the address to something at ECalifornia St. which has nothing to do with our address and is not an actual street. My parents recently send me International shipment from my hometown in my country through DHL . I was tracking the shipment and the tracking said it was delivered on friday last week . I didn't receive any shipment until now . It has passed 5 days since it says delivered and and when called and complained DHL said the driver delivered it to wrong address and they "ll investigate sbout its where abouts using their GPS and give me an update . They have been kept saying the same thing for the past 4 days and until now they couldnt trace it . This is extremely dissapointing . They keep saying they are working to recover the package and I have to keep waiting for it . That package is so valuable to me . I don't recommend this courrier service to anyone. This is tragic. They arbitrarily route your package to one of their access points instead of delivering the package to your address. Then they update the tracking status as "Delivered to your local DHL access point." They do not provide an address, a city, a zip code.... It takes hours to deduce who to call in order to speak with a human instead of a chat bot. I finally get someone live in billing. They give me instructions on how to by-pass the prompts that do nothing but keep you in a mindless doo loop. I finally reach someone who informs me that my package is at the Oakland Access point. One day and 15 hours later, I have an actual plan for when I will get my package. What a horrible process. DHL must be dirt cheap for shippers. I ordered a part for my car Monday June 5 from an online retailer. I paid an extra $40 for express shipping, since I am going out of town for a week and need it fixed ASAP. The next morning, I got an email stating it had been shipped. Great! Things were on track. That evening I got an email with the delivery date - Monday, June 12. Completely unacceptable when I paid for express shipping. I called DHL about it, and the ever-so-unhelpful woman on the phone asked me who I paid the $40 for shipping to: DHL or the retailer? I answered that I paid when I ordered it. She repeated her question. I said I guess the retailer since it all was in one amount. She then said that was the retailer's problem. What I SHOULD have said was "no, ma'am, once the shipping company picks it up it's THEIR problem." It's not as if the retailer is putting the shipping fee in their pocket; they pay it to the shipping company. The package did arrive today; however that is not what I would consider 'express' shipping, as the retailer said their packages generally would have arrived by Friday with their free shipping option. To top it off, after paying extra for express, they handed it off to the postal service to deliver anyway. Absolutely not worth the fee. I would not recommend DHL. read more

DHL is reliable for overseas package delivery. They are very expensive, but I can get a package delivered halfway around the world in 2 days. My recipient received a call on the same day to expect delivery that I just dropped off. There's tracking and it's very safe and reliable service. The Oakland office is basically a warehouse with a small counter that can accept your package. The wait is not bad because the staff has to document and make sure information is accurate before finishing up the transaction. I was very pleased with the service I received. Like I says. It is very expensive, costing over $100. But it's reliable and fast shipping! read more

Best mailing service I have seen so far. So I walked in with a huge box to be shipped to Nairobi, Kenya. After checking the weight and measurements Michele quoted the price and then quickly asked if the box was full/can be repackaged in a smaller box. Given my experience with other services, I doubtfully yes, expecting her to ask me to purchase a smaller box, the tape, etc, and repackage myself. Surprisingly, she brought a smaller-sized box and not only helped me unpack and re-package in their box, but also padded my package inside their box and extra-taped the whole thing. All this at no cost - I did not pay for the box or the extra padding envelope or the tape or the service (this is unheard of at places like USPS). Now my cost was 2/3rd the previous cost! At that point, Lionesha walked in asking Michele why she hadn't called her. It was then I realized that Michele was working over her shift time just to help me out! Lionesha was very cheerful and enthusiastic as well and helped me out with the remainder of the mailing. The whole process was very refreshingly smooth, thanks to these two ladies. read more

Usually, I get a disgruntled representative and dreads working, but today, Darryl greeted me with enthusiasm and excellent service. I went out of my way to let his Supervisor, Sky, know that Darryl was amazing. Darryl was nice, had a smile, got my package for me quickly, and seemed to enjoy working there very much. Drivers are nice and my package that was shipped from Turkey on 8/19/19 was delivered today (at a school) (2nd attempt) 8/20/19 at about 11:30am. I mean, basically 2 days to get a dutiable package from overseas!!?? That's unheard of. Today, they delivered earlier than the first attempt yesterday..which was nice. I also called cust svc and they messaged the OAK station to tell the driver to deliver before 4pm..because that's when the school closes for the day! Also.... I worked for DHL for 17 years (1991-2009). I worked the front desk at the OAK station. I worked on the phones. And... I was a rep at the call center when it was in San Mateo... One thing I always tell people who are expecting packages... sometimes the system can be delayed from what you see on line and what is in the inter-company system.. Also, if you come to the office to get your package and someone has to look thru the warehouse to find that package- you're going to have to wait a long time. There are literally THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of packages to go thru. There are general areas to look depending on your address..but..there are still 1,000s of packages to go thru. And... if a driver leaves a note on your door.. there's a chance it will blow off. Or, someone could come by and steal it. Or, someone could take it thinking it's theirs. And.. any type of unforseen delay can occur. The truck could break down. A customer can hold up a driver at their location asking questions or wanting to ship something. Weather. Road blocks. Road closures. TRAFFIC! Be patient.. read more

Unbelievably useless customer service!! Was expecting a package and unfortunately was in the bathroom when DHL rang the doorbell. I called their customer service number to ask if they could redeliver since I was home and the driver might still be in the area. They said NO. Monday would be the next delivery. They had no time frame to give me but they said to check on Monday once the package was on the truck. I called on Monday and they said that the package would be delivered anytime on Monday. Could they give me a time frame or am I supposed to stay home waiting for a package and not shower or go the bathroom because I might miss the delivery? No they would not be able to give me a time frame...just by the end of the day until 9pm! So in other words, use DHL as your courier and become a prisoner in your home and no, you don't get to go to the bathroom either!!! This must be a courier service established by the Gestapo! I am from Germany and most shippers use DHL when sending me merchandise and always it takes one month from Germany to California and when using DHL express they are never on time. I came in for pickup on an early morning, waited for a while but hey I know what to expect when at places like these they have to LOOK AND SORT just because you get there at 8:30am does not mean you package is waiting for you at the buzzer be patient I know it's agitating if you're in a rush but I've waited longer at the post office. So as I am being helped by this associate she was more than helpful, greater than kind, just an awesome spirit about her. Thank you for all you did, the conversation, the customer service, as well as you're work ethic. Service? An EPIC fail! I ordered a dress online for a wedding and paid additional$$ to have it sent express. Ha! What a joke that was- It was to be delivered by 12/14 but never showed up. SIX days later, I'm just picking it up. The online tracking system Does not match what the automated system says when you call customer service. Worse than that though is when I went to the facility to pick up my order there was one person in front of me just finishing up her business and I was next in line. Instead of the rep taking my order to retieve my package she told me to wait a moment and went to the back but never returned!!?? almost 10 minutes later I had to ring the bell. I recently ordered an item from Amazon. I saw it was DHL that was doing the shipping and I was already concerned. The item was scheduled for delivery today based on Amazon tracking. I checked the status and saw "Attempted Delivery". I was at home during the time of the attempted delivery, so I called DHL to determine what the problem was. I was told the driver did not have the access code to my locked building. The building has a keypad to phone occupants to let guests in the building, so not having the direct access code is no excuse. This is the second time DHL messed up a simple delivery to my home. I gave the telephone representative the direct access code for the building door and asked if they could add it to my address for future deliveries. The telephone representative said there was no way of saving that information. I was told the package required a signature and that even if I signed for it ahead of time, it's driver discretion to leave the package. So basically I have to wait at home all day if I want the package delivered tomorrow. I repeated the access code to telephone representative to double check everything was correct. The telephone representative got the access code wrong the first time and had to re-enter it for the new delivery. I told the representative that I would really be pissed off if the driver F$&#ed up the delivery again and she told me to watch my language. I subsequently finished the call with that unhelpful representative. I called the customer service line back a few minutes later and asked for my package to be held at the Oakland shipping center for pickup since I do not trust DHL residential delivery. I was informed by a different telephone representative that my package would be returned to the Oakland shipping center this evening and ready for pickup tomorrow morning. When someone orders 2nd business day shipping on a package, they tend to Oh I don't know expect the effing package to be delivered 2nd business day. Recently I wanted to ship 2 packages to England from Oakland, California. I went to USPS and was surprised at the high cost of about $90 to ship the 2 packages. I have shipped packages internationally throughout the years and this seemed too high for 3-5 day type service. The contents of both packages combined was worth little more than $100, so it made no sense to spend $90 to ship them. I figured USPS does not do this often and so is not price competitive. DHL, being based in Europe I figured, will be able to do this for much less. After a couple of searches I found their site which offered a 25% discount if you open a new account! Off I went to dhl-usa.com to send off my packages. I provided all my information including my credit card number. I printed the labels, provided the destination addresses and prepared my packages for shipping. I dropped them off at a location on Fruitvale Ave. A day later I found out they had charged me over $200 for shipping the 2 packages! I called their billing department which offered no remedy, not even the 25% discount their site advertised. Shame on me for giving them my credit card information. Shame on them for abusing it. How DHL even stays in business in the US is beyond my comprehension. It might be thriving in Europe, but customer service in the US is terrible! I expressed shipped the order online and because the merchant decided this was the best merchant to do that job...I was unfortunately left to go on a wild goose chase. Apparently, the carrier won't leave the item at your doorsteps, even if you live in a safe, gated neighborhood and have never had an issue with stolen packages. You have to be there IN PERSON to sign it. Oh, and not to mention...they won't give you a specified time. Instead, they give you a range of like 8 AM to 5 PM. So, you're telling me I have to take a day off of work to retrieve my package? So, a simple solution to that would be to change it to my work address, right? For other carriers, I have been able to change the address to my work one. But, oh, no...not with DHL. Once you've specified the address, it's apparently written in stones, and that's the only address they'll deliver to and will only give you the package once you're there IN PERSON. Wait, what?! I know, I was just as mind-blown when I called customer service. Here's the best part...customer service is only opened till 3 PM! So, you can't even call them after work because, you know....they just assume that everyone is just lounging around all day without a day job to care for at all. Oh, and don't even bother trying to pick it up from the location, but that's a no-go for them also. WORST. EXPERIENCE. EVER! My 'expressed' packaged ended up arriving THREE WEEKS later.
