I reached out to Doug of lint bandits on Monday and we scheduled an appointment with him for Saturday @10am. They never showed up. No call, email, text, absolutely no communication. Just didn't show. I was quoted $240 for the service. But if you don't want my money I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. I scheduled my weekend activities around waiting for them to show. I don't respect a business that doesn't respect my time. Update: I am updating my review to change my star rating from 1 to 3. Doug did reach out to me and took the time to explain there was simply an error in booking by one of his associates. I understand that mistakes happen and he offered to perform the service at a discounted price to make up for it. I already had another company clean my vents for me, so I didn't need his services. He seems like a nice guy and does seem to work hard to maintain a good relationship with clients. While I do understand it was a mistake, it was still one that impacted my time. I was referred to Lint Bandits, I gave Doug a call, he answered and contacted the tenants within minutes (incredibly responsive, which is important) This is a very important cleaning that should be done on a regular basis. First of all I'm only knocking off one star because when arranging appointment at first they thought I was in Stockton. On the day of the appointment they called me saying they were going to be an hour early than our planned appointment. No big deal. Turns out they were looking for my address in Pleasanton instead of Concord. So after reconfirming my address they wind up actually showing up a half hour late. 2 guys that showed up were pleasant and thorough in theor job. Disclaimer- I didn't actually use their services, but they still get 5 stars and if I do need services, I would call them. Here's why: After doing a search on yelp for dryer vent cleaning (had no idea who to call), I contacted them to schedule a cleaning (it was taking 80 minutes to dry clothes). Doug answered the phone, very friendly, explained clearly the process of what they would do, and I was able to book an appointment for the same day! He even gave me a Yelp discount! When I asked if I needed my landlord's permission (we just recently moved in), he said this was something usually done by landlords, not the tenants. He suggested I ask my landlord to cover the cost. So I booked the appointment and called to ask the property manager if they would cover the cost. They ended up telling me they would use their own worker to clean the vent. I called Doug back to cancel the appointment. He was very understanding and even gave me some helpful tips to make sure the worker cleaned my vents properly! I wish I could have used Doug's company since he would've been able to send his team out the same day, but he saved me some money, since the owner is now doing it. I just have to wait a week or two until their worker is available...... Anyway, friendly guy, honest (didn't have to save me money or give me advice), and didn't give me any attitude when I called back to cancel. Lint Bandits is fantastic! We had all of our air ducts cleaned and I already feel like I'm breathing cleaner air!!! We moved into our house a little less than a year ago and it has been on my list of things to have our ducts cleaned... I could see the build up and filth in the vents and knew that our heater/air conditioner was probably not running well. I called three places to get estimates and Lint bandits had the highest price... but they are a local business and Doug was friendly, knowledgable and over the phone gave me an exact estimate, so we went with them. The positive feeling I got from Doug over the phone was followed through by Fred and Gary who cleaned our 15 air ducts, vacuumed our house afterwards and cleaned the dryer vent in 2 hours! They even showed us the filth that came out of our air ducts... (I'd post pictures but it is too embarrassing to see how much grime we were living with). Easy to set up an appointment via Yelp and texting. The guys arrived on time and fixed the problem. Lint Bandits is quite zealous in following up and seeking feedback, which is mostly a good thing (better than not caring!). However, I'd prefer to just get an email rather than an email plus voicemails, phone calls, and texts. If we have a dryer vent problem again, we'd call the Lint Bandits. read more

Highly recommended service. Our 5 year old dryer quit drying clothes, as it blew a heater element fuse, mainly because of the amount of lint in the house vent, which reduced the outgoing airflow so much that the fuse overloaded. After requesting many dryer duct cleaning quotes, it was very easy to decide who I would hire to do the job. Although they were on the higher end for pricing, they were the only vendor that explained the step by step process, how long the process would take and the price was exact. We bought a new house last year and I'm fairly certain the dryer vent had never been cleaned since 1976. Ours ran down through the crawl space and had a couple turns before it vents outdoors. I decided to have my dryer duct cleaned, for peace of mind, not because of any decreased efficiency of my dryer. This is my first review, ever, for any product or service. I felt compelled to write it because the expediency with which they perform the job surprised me positively. The day before, I had my home warranty company service fixing the dryer. The dryer heating element burned out because the blocked vent caused hot air to overheat and burn out the dryer parts (I am happy it did not cause fire). Unfortunately, home warranty companies DO NOT cover dryer vent cleaning, so I Jumped on Yelp and chose the local company with best reviews, which was LB. When I called, no one picked up the line, but, to my surprise, Doug called right back apologizing for missing my call. Even though he was booked, I pleaded that I already took day off and would be great if they could come today. He said his team is nearby and, perhaps, they can fit me in - he would check with his team and get back to me by 10:30am. He called me exactly at 10:30am (a shocker for a contractor to even call back when they promise) and said they will be here in 20 min. The team showed up on time and completed the whole job in 20-30 min. They even asked me if I found them on Yelp, because I would get $10 off. From now on, I am their permanent customer! The only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because there were couple of small pieces of lint they left behind, which could have been easily vacuumed up, which I expect for a 5-star rating (advice to Dough to let them carry a small hand vac since the shop vac they use is too bulky for a small job). read more

My dryer was taking too long to dry clothes. I thought I needed a new one, but after my appliance repairman, Scott, with Superior Appliance checked it out, he said I had a venting problem. It was still heating, but stayed moist. He cleaned out a lot of lint, but said he didn't feel air from the vent outside. He said to observe the dryer and see if the time improves considerably. It did, but since we haven't had the dryer vent cleaned since we bought this old house in 1997, we thought it was high time anyway. I called Doug and made an appointment. I was nervous about the rain today, but there was a break in the weather when his crew, Fred and Mary, arrived, so it worked out. I initially hesitated calling because I assumed they only serviced the Tri Valley area, but they came to Castro Valley. Mary and Fred were kind, funny, and quirky. They did a thorough job. I always research jobs to be done at home, and I thought perhaps I could tackle this one myself. But after considering that I need to buy a vent cleaning kit, a bigger and stronger shop vac, and have the skill to clean a vent ( I mean you can watch all the YouTube videos all day long and still won't get it), I thought, forget it. Hire a professional. I'm glad we did. If I didn't know what it was, the lint Fred removed from the outside vent looked like a wet, dead cat; it was that much. The price for the service was not listed on the web site. However, on the web site, I was directed to yelp for a coupon which caused confusion re: the total price. I paid $10 for $20 service, so assumed that was the cost. After job was done I was handed a bill for $180. I negotiated a cost of $150 but that was on top of the $10 I paid on Yelp.I should have checked the pricing before committing to service and recommend that you do so before scheduling. Less than a quart of lint was removed from my vent, so don't think it was worth $160. read more

So long story short, my dryer wasn't heating up and was getting old, so I bought a new dryer, which also didn't heat up. I had the sears people come out and check the new dryer which it was not the dryer but the dryer vent that was clogged. We like to use local people to help them out so I found lint bandits on yelp, made a next day appointment, and was completely satisfied with the results. The two men, Fred and Alex, showed up 10 min early,were clean and professional, worked on the super major clog, had to climb a steep ladder to get on our town house roof that is four stories high, and they never once complained.
