I just went here for the first time this past weekend for brunch and it was so yummy everyone kept talking about how they wanted to come back. The only downside was that they were short staffed so we had limited options as to what drinks we could order. We ordered a mix of omelets, benedict's, waffles, and classic 2 egg breakfast. The omelet and waffle were the stars of the show. My only complaint is that the home fries weren't that great but the egg benedict itself made up for it.

First off, if exorbitant pricing is a concern, this place might not be your cup of tea. Pun intended. Prices are steep with a cup of tea running you $5, and no, there are no free refills offered. That's an insane markup! Secondly, the average to meager portion sizes don't align with the expensive cost either. I ordered an egg and cheese with crispy bacon on naan. It came with their homemade potato chips which I found kind of odd (who wants to eat potato chips with their breakfast?). The interior is dark and intriguing; it feels like you've stepped back in time quite honestly. Our nice server, Olivia, tended to our table, and kindly grabbed me more hot water (on the house) so I could extend the life of my green tea bag. It's nice that there is free transient docking offered literally in their backyard; that encouraged us to eat breakfast there in the first place. After our experience though, if the prices are not adjusted, I just don't see us going back.

My part of the bill

Went for a birthday dinner for a friend and the bill was split 3 ways but even tho we all have a tip included on each bill (which was just over 15%) my tab got hit for an extra $10! I called the restaurant and they said they would look into it but never heard back! So clearly the waiter changed my tip to give himself a full 20% on just my part of the bill. The food is mediocre in my opinion, chapel grille in Cranston is way better and worth the money. The prices here were a bit over the top for what u get. The waiter would disappear and never even came to check on our table to see how we were liking the food which annoyed me because I wanted to ask for extra dressing on the side but never saw him again to ask. I personally wouldn't go back, nothing on the menu really stuck out and flavor wise (I tried a little of everyone dish) it was just all lack luster and boring. And $8 for a side salad that only had tomato's and some shredded carrot was insane! I think restaurant impossible needs to do recon on this place cuz it's lacking. Maybe Bristol folk think it's good for a local place but the service and prices r just not good. The ambience is kinda dimly lit, we for some reason were sat near the door and would get a gust of cold air followed by intense heat which was annoying. The place was quiet and barely anyone there and they sat us right up front which was odd. This is my part of the bill was more than the other twos bills. I paid for myself, my mom and part of the birthday girls meals. The other two girls paid for themselves and part of the birthday girls. Their bills came to $49 each and we all did a $10 tip. But somehow I got hit with an extra $10! My bill came to $108.28 but my bank account was hit for $118.28 Both the other girls with their tips came to $59 each and nothing extra was added to theirs. I called a few days later after the visit to tell them I was being charged more money, the girl took my name and card number down and said someone would call me back by the next day after they located my bill.... No one ever called me! I put a dispute in with my bank!

So as a townie I tend not to visit this place that often as it's a tourist destination. Well, my hunch was right the food was just average, You're really just paying for the ambience. The pulled chicken sandwich is not really pulled chicken but chunks and some dried up scraps. Our waitress had a sour face the entire time and just could not wait for us to leave so she could go home I can assume.

I was in town for business and DeWolfs was right next door so I decided to try it out. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was awesome. The bar tender were friendly It is a very old building and you can feel the history on the inside. Definitely recommend.

Shaved steak sandwich

During the pandemic, we had a nice dinner meal outside in the covered patio area. You can still see the water and the nice view. The blackened salmon was good. The shaved steak sandwich was a winner. The Manchurian cauliflower app was also nicely done. The restaurant has an Indian influence on many of its dishes, as you can see by many of their plates. They use Naan bread. The setting and the food make this place a solid choice in Bristol.

When the sea was America's highway, the DeWolf family ruled along with the Browns of Providence, and as with the Brown family, the DeWolfs made their money in trading slaves. George's family and descendants occupied the house for 177 years until the Friends of Linden Place, a non-profit group, assumed ownership in 1988. Perhaps the most famous occupant was Colonel Samuel Pomeroy Colt, George's grandson. He started Industrial Trust Bank which later became Fleet and he formed U.S. Rubber which became today's Uniroyal Tires. This house is considered the "architectural crown jewel" of Bristol and it is important to the social history of the town as well. Walking around the house with a guided tour, you can hear and learn about the history of the house and the town, bright time and dark times. Learning about the slave trade is important because it was a part of our history, even though it was a sad one. The decor is exquisite, with the furniture, chandeliers, artwork and interior design set the same way it was in the 19th century. We have also enjoyed the outside grounds during wedding receptions, concerts, special events. The grounds are always immaculate so the events outdoors always shine. A beauty of Colonial architecture in Bristol.

A lonely little…read morecoffee pot Hog Island Light is a lonely little lighthouse that few people get to see up close. It's located about a third of a mile southeast of Hog Island and north of the Newport Bridge and most of the boat traffic. Distance views can be seen from the Mount Hope Bridge and a few places in Portsmouth but you really need a small boat to get good views. The area south of Hog Island has treacherous shoals and rocks so it was decided back in 1838 to place a small buoy as a warning. This of course didn't work so in 1866 a small lightship was anchored there and then replaced by a larger lightship in 1886. Lightships were always at high risk and deteriorated quickly so in 1901 at real lighthouse was constructed. This is the newest light in Rhode Island and is a very generic design that was popular at the time. Called spark plugs or coffee pots because of there shapes, these lights certainly weren't as aesthetically beautiful as the earlier lights but were cheap and strong as hell. There are three other lights in RI that look a lot like it and they actually are well designed with five levels inside to house the keeper and all the equipment. The light is about 60 feet tall and never had a real dock. That means anyone trying to get on the light has to climb from a boat up a ladder and then into the light. Not as easy as it sounds in crappy weather and nasty falls were always a possibility. Interestingly tons of granite was placed around the light to protect it from ice flows even though I have seldom seen much ice in the area. I suspect the weather was quite a bit cooler back when the light was built. The lighthouse was automated in 1964 and is now a private dwelling. Nobody actually lives in the lighthouse but it was bought by a couple from South Dakota in 2006 for 165,000 dollars. Part of the deal is that they have to do the maintenance and keep it looking nice but exactly what they do with the light is unknown. Having your own private chunk of maritime history would be nice and It certainly is a very cool place to hang out and spend some time.

It is near the entrance of the port of Providence at the mouth of the Providence River. The original stone tower stood thirty feet tall with a small, 120-square-foot stone house attached and was described as an odd-looking structure, more like a windmill than a lighthouse. In 1833, a three-room wooden addition was added to the keeper's dwelling. Two years later, a lime and pebble covering was applied to the structure. The original beacon was a collection of eight lamps and nine-inch reflectors arranged around three-fourths of the circumference of a circular table. The cast iron structure was moved to its current location in 1939. It was placed on an eight-foot-tall concrete base so that ships could see its beacon over the top of the keeper's house. The tower is 51 feet tall and has a focal height of 66 feet. It is on Coast Guard property, behind a gate that was secured when I visited. I'm not sure if it is ever open for tours. There was a spot to stop my car and enjoy the view I posted. Three stars because it's pretty but secured from visitation. I went with the ahi tuna platter, which was set up almost like a charcuterie board, and it was excellent. Also grabbed a clam chowder, because... New England, and it did not disappoint. Caught the fourth quarter of the game, and the place had a great vibe. Crowd was lively, staff was friendly, and everything was clean and comfortable. The drink menu was not very extensive. Our Asian salad cups appetizer tasted exactly like an Asian salad mix I've bought at the grocery store and looked like it too - I'm convinced that's exactly how they prepared this. My veggie burger had burnt edges and wasn't too enjoyable flavor-wise. It didn't help my overall impression that when I got takeout here another time, they totally butchered my boyfriend's name when we ordered over the phone, and we had a hard time picking up our order because of this (how you get "Stephanie" from "Anthony," I just really don't know). I think this place just gets lucky having a good location across from Independence Park and being close to but just out of the way from downtown. Can't say I was impressed by the food - there are too many other good options in Bristol, I just can't say I'd recommend this to others. Perhaps it's improved since I visited, but it's a pass for me based on experiences I've had.
