We started out with an outside unit and lo and behold we found we needed 2, so we rented a climate-controlled small unit. This month we rented a 3rd mega-sized outside one and discontinued the climate control one. The patience they showed us was very much appreciated. They prorated the one we discontinued and applied the rest to the new mega storage we just opened up. Pros and cons:. 1. There is no lighting inside the units, so bring your flashlights if you come while it's dark outside. 2. In the climate control units, I appreciated the locking coded doors leading into them, but as a woman who grew up in the city, I was very concerned about the darkness of the inside corridor (during the day) leading up to the unit. I never went back into that corridor alone without my boys after my first time there and alone. There are too many bad things that could possibly happen, even in Friendswood. 3. They have excellent workers at the Friendswood location. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. 4. The 3 units we dealt with were very clean. I know it costs money, but if they lit the dark corridors in the climate-control hallways, that may solve issues that paranoid women, like myself, have when out in public in suspicious areas, e.g., areas with no lighting. Other than that, it has been a great experience so far!

Everytime they changed owners, the transition has been seamless for the tenants. I will say the price has consistently went up throughout the years, hence minus one star. That was one of my motivations to get do away with the unit and either sell or get rid of what I have in the unit. The cost of what u have paid over the years definitely is way over the worth of the property inside. The property is very clean and well secured. I wanted climate controlled and I have never been inside where I have felt it wasn't controlled. They have moving equipment on hand to help you move your items as well. Customer service, especially with Extra Space has been outstanding. I was able to put my notice in to leave online. I wasn't sure if gate codes have changed since the new ownership took over so I called and spoke to Natalie. She was very helpful and told me I have till the end of the month to move out even though my move out date was about a week earlier. That little bit of information put less stress on me. She text me with all the codes and also notified me that my unit was clean and good to go after. If I am ever in need of storage in the future, I will definitely reach back out to Extra Space Storage.

When storage king bought the property just over a year and a half ago, they started implementing significant price increases, with less amenities. in the year and a half that they've owned the property, our price has increased 4 times to nearly $40/month more than what it was when we started renting. The security is not great. And it isn't uncommon to run in to renters who think they own the property, and take up an excessive amount of space when loading/unloading. Someone attempted to break in to my vehicle, and the cameras mysteriously stopped working during the exact time the break in was being attempted. We've gotten multiple calls to come check our vehicle after gates getting cut, and things being stolen from other vehicles. they've had a plan to expand the parking storage since before we began renting, but nothing has been started. However, they're sure to let the parking renters know that when it does start, they won't be able to offer any parking spaces during the construction time. so kicking out all the parking tenants during the period of time it's being built.
