If I could leave 0 stars I would…read more Sometime around Thanksgiving our storage unit was broken into and approximately $13,000 of our property was stolen, that we know of. We were never notified about the theft, I found out because I just happened to go by there. They (Devon Self Storage) were aware of the theft because they called the police themselves. The thieves put their own lock on the unit so they could gain entrance at any time and they took their time because they had to remove some large items and put them back in to steal some of the equipment. We did file a police report with Seabrook and they told us this particular facility has been robbed 40 times in 4 months! By confirmation of Lisa and Blake, employees at the facility, they said the owner refused to send letters or notify any of the customers about the theft problems. They also admitted that the main gates have been "broken" for some time and left open at all hours. There are 8-10 cameras on site and by Lisa's admission only the two facing the office work.

When I called enroute, Shelby answered and assured us that there should be no problem. We were still apprehensive as we were reviewing the satellite aerial shots of the location. Then Shelby did the unthinkable! She got in her car video recorded the entire course from gate entry to the exact location we were to store our trailer and sent it to us 200 miles away!!!! Who does that????? Well, Shelby did!!! In every way we were accommodated to make the dropoff painless. Get ready folks for the 'Welcome to Texas' hospitality at this place. It went to 300 dollars a month for about a year with no other options given. We used a tiny space of the unit but that didn't matter to them. They didn't negotiate any other options, toys remained in the until maybe worth 300 when we were charged 300 for a year month after month. I would never give them business or recommend business again. What started out as a compassionate business quickly gave us the cold shoulder. Just sad.
