After seeing how highly rated Devi's was, my husband and I were beyond excited to come in for a visit especially knowing they served gluten free donuts. We asked the owner what flavors of gf he had available, and he handed us a list of flavors and said any on the list could be made. We ordered a rainbow sprinkle and a lemon pistachio. He stated he needed to go make the donuts and would be back. At this point we were extra excited thinking that meant they would be very fresh. After about 5 minutes, the owner came out and handed us a closed box and took our payment. As we were heading out, he said by the way, the gf donut base is premade and refrigerated, so let them sit out for a bit before you eat them. We thought this was a bit odd to tell customers after paying since we were expecting to eat them right away, but we said okay and headed back to our car. We opened the box to find two "donuts" that were already completely falling apart. We already knew by looking at them that no amount of waiting was going to make the situation better. When we did go to finally taste the donuts, they were nothing but a liquidy mess. Both donuts had a frothy texture like if you dissolved a donut in water, and they tasted absolutely horrendous. We each took one bite and threw them away immediately. I can safely say up until this experience, I have never thrown away a donut or anything sweet in my life, but what was served to us was actually inedible. There is no way the owner did not notice this before hand. We would have much rather been told that the gf donuts were not ready or unavailable than purchase something we could not eat. We cannot speak to the regular vegan donuts. Perhaps those are worth the hype, but if you are looking for a gluten-free option, this is not it. read more

Then my daughter said her friend tried a "good looking donut" at the farmers market. She got a business card. Sure enough, it was this same place! I decided to stop by this morning. They are vegan donuts. I've never had such a thing. I'm not vegan nor am I even vegetarian haha so I wasn't sure what to expect. I picked the pretty, pink strawberry donut with a fresh strawberry on top. The strawberry was sweet and delicious and the donut was really good! The other donuts looked tasty too. I was meeting up with my vegan friend and she was in the mood for donuts. A quick check on my Yelp app led me here. The exterior of this tiny shop is very cute. There are only a couple parking spots in front but street parking can be found nearby if necessary. The interior can only accommodate a couple people at a time. There are menu screens above the register which show the various donuts available, both regular and filled. I purchased half a dozen: Chocolate Sprinkles, Raspberry Blackberry, Strawberry, Chocolate Coconut, Lemon Meringue (filled), and Espresso (also filled). The fellow who helped me (possibly the owner) was very welcoming and friendly. I didn't have the pleasure of trying all of them but I did try a few, in part or whole. The espresso had a nice almost pillowy texture and some sweet crunchy stuff on top. The filling was some sort of coffee cream but was extremely bitter. I didn't care for the filling much. The chocolate coconut had a delicious chocolate frosting and sweet coconut flakes on top. The donut texture was cake-like but a bit more chewy than a non-vegan donut. Still good though. The lemon meringue had a lightly sweet lemon filling while the two berry donuts had delicious berry frostings which were not too sweet with a fresh berry on top. My favorites of what I tried were the lemon meringue and the chocolate coconut. As someone who is not vegan I could tell a slight difference in flavor and texture but I enjoyed these as much as any donut I've ever had. read more

OMG! I went to this vegan donut place with my fellow foodie Lotus. She told me they just opened the day before and we should give it a try. I said yes please!!! We drove to this food truck turned brick and mortar. There a few free parking spots in the tiny lot right in front and plenty of street parking. The donut store just opened so is short on signage. We walked in and we greeted by the two workers. The selection of donuts are wonderful. I tried the creme brûlée, lemon meringue, triple berry and lemon pistachio. What i also love most is the variety of flavors which you don't get a lot of when it comes to vegan donuts. They also have special flavors once in a while thats always worth trying - this month was vegan coconut with maple "bacon". Devi's donut is such a cute little hole in the wall donut shop located in Long Beach. The place is not easy to miss and when you enter the shop, it smells so heavenly. Eva, the baker, greeted me with a warm and friendly smile so I chatted with her for a little bit. They have been doing farmer's market for a couple of years and decided to open up shop during the pandemic. Devi's was named after their daughter and they have a cute mural of her inside the shop. I tried a variety of flavors: the lavender rose, coffee glazed caramel pecan, rainbow sprinkles & the oreo crumb. Eva mentions that they make their dough in-house and that they're glazes are made out of real fruit. My favorites are the lavender rose and the coffee glazed caramel pecan! The donuts are light and airy although some of they donuts are cake-filled, like their gluten-free donuts. I have yet to try their new flavor, their blueberry banana gluten-free donut. There's very little spots for parking here and no space to eat it. I would also highly suggest coming in early or as soon as they open because they sell out in the afternoon. They are not like the other vegan kind floating around coffee shops in Long Beach (although I've found that Wood Coffee on 10th does carry Devi's). A Devi donut is on the airy side, not cake-like or dense. They come in a good variety of toppings. As far as filled donuts, I had two flavors and enjoyed them. The creme brulee was caramelized so had a crispy top. The lemon had a custard that was not too tart. They offer a decent cinnamon roll too. Come get them at the farmers market or their very small storefront but not on Mondays when they're closed. read more
