I provided them with the information requested and was sent a text with the estimate. I then asked about the Costco 15% voucher and a time to bring the car in for repair. Their responds was I needed to bring the car in to the shop for a physical inspection to provide an accurate estimate. I brought the car to you on Friday May 14, 2026 asking for the estimate on the trailing arms and inquired about the dash board lights. They asked for 2 hours of time to prepare this. I received the estimate for the repairs along with an inspection report and quotes for 17 other "issues", I did not request an inspection of any kind. When I return to retrieve the car and finalize the repairs I ask a couple of question, first will they honor the Costco voucher and timing to have the repairs completed. Here are my challenges with the transaction, I had temporary access to these estimates and was locked out once I paid the fee of $81.00 ($77.,25 actual debit transition), your website states a free estimate but you charged me and then restricted my access. The garage has a deal with Costco to take 15% off the total bill but when asked I was told you would take 10% on part and 15% on labor. The texted estimate was $1610.00 prior to me asking about the Costco discount and the realtime estimate was $1750 as I recalling only being able to view it prior to lockout. Most concerning was your raid silent when I called to follow up on Saturday as requested by you, I called around 8:30 AM , followed up with a text at around 11 AM and another at 2:15 PM and as on this email there has been no response. The work has been completed by another garage and its is worth pointing out in this review it was completed at a cost of 1/2 what Logan Square Garage was going to charge me. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST, it is a money grab.

I initially brought my car in for what I understood to be a fairly basic issue. Despite this, I ended up waiting approximately 10 days to get my vehicle back. I understand that automotive repairs can sometimes take longer than anticipated due to parts, scheduling, or unexpected complications, but the length of the delay did not seem reasonable given the nature of the work. More importantly, communication throughout the process did little to make the situation better. My biggest concern was the way the repairs and pricing were handled. The cost changed significantly from what I had originally anticipated, and work was performed on my vehicle before I had given my approval or consent to the additional charges. I was not contacted beforehand and given a clear explanation of the proposed work, the associated costs, and an opportunity to approve or decline it. Instead, I was essentially informed after the fact that the work had already been completed and that I was responsible for paying for it. The final pricing was also extremely high, especially considering that I had not authorized the changes before the work was performed. As a customer, I expect a repair shop to communicate clearly about any additional work or significant changes in price and obtain authorization before proceeding. Finding out afterward that the work had already been completed left me feeling as though I had no meaningful choice in the matter. Unfortunately, my interaction over the phone made the experience even more frustrating. The person I spoke with came across as unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and confrontational when I attempted to discuss my concerns. Rather than acknowledging the lack of authorization or trying to explain the situation professionally, the response was essentially that the work was already done and therefore I had to pay for it. The tone of the conversation made an already frustrating situation considerably worse. I am willing to pay a fair price for properly authorized work, and I understand that unexpected repairs can arise once a mechanic begins inspecting a vehicle. However, customers should be informed of those findings and given the opportunity to approve additional work before being charged for it. Between the approximately 10-day turnaround time, the unexpected and excessive pricing, work being completed without my prior approval, and the unprofessional communication afterward, I was very dissatisfied with my experience at M & R Auto. Clear communication, transparent pricing, and obtaining customer authorization before performing additional work are basic expectations when trusting a business with your vehicle. Unfortunately, I did not feel those expectations were met here.

Do not trust this shop. They completely misdiagnosed my AC issue and tried to charge me over $860…read morefor a new compressor that I did not need. I told the manager, Luis, that I suspected an electrical issue, but they jumped straight to the most expensive replacement. When I arrived to pick up the car, the AC still did not work, and the mechanic was still scrambling under the hood. They still took my money, only to admit the next day that they couldn't fix it. They left my car running for about 20 minutes with a radiator fan unplugged, telling me if they plugged it back in, the AC might stop working. This is dangerous and could have overheated my engine. I took my car to Cermak Automotive down the street instead. They diagnosed the vehicle for free in under an hour. It was just a faulty AC pressure switch. Luis later admitted his mechanic only checked the sensor with a multimeter, completely failing to test if it was actually reading system pressure. As you can see in my attached photo, the old sensor was heavily and visibly corroded. They completely missed this obvious visual cue and relied on a basic electrical test that didn't prove the part was actually working. I asked them to at least cover the small repair cost from the second shop since they completely misdiagnosed my car, but they refused. They are "parts-changers" who guess with your money rather than doing real diagnostic work. Avoid them at all costs.
