This weekend we visited Detroit Fleat to check out their brunch, and I have to say it's one of the most family-friendly and pet-friendly restaurants we've been to all summer. The restaurant has ample space for strollers and high chairs. The outdoor patio and kid play area are a huge plus -- it allowed us to relax and enjoy our meal while our daughter had fun. Our server, Marissa, was excellent -- a true 10/10. Her patience, service, and attention to detail made the experience even better. For food, we ordered the Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Nachos, Pancakes, and Mac and Cheese for our daughter. Everything was delicious -- we'd give it all a 10/10, except the pancakes, which we'd rate a 7/10. The ambiance was relaxed and laid-back, perfect for a weekend brunch. One small area for improvement is the host stand -- when we first walked in, there was no greeter, and we only got seated after walking inside and being directed by staff behind the bar. We expected food trucks, but I think because it's late in the season (i.e. normally cold), food was served from the indoor kitchen. But we weren't disappointed! We sat outside on the patio, because it was a balmy fall night, and we thoroughly enjoyed the setting while chowing down on some delicious food! Between us, we got three different types of sliders, garlic Romano fries, Cajun-seasoned soft pretzels, jerk chicken tacos, and sweet potato black bean tacos. Yum, yum, yum! Hubby also ordered a drink - a tequila sunrise - and it was well made. For the three of us, with drinks, the total was $50ish plus tip. I feel like that's a pretty good deal. My husband and I tried Fleat for the first time last night after living right down the road for years. We were very disappointed by our experience. First, the service wasn't great. We were seated quickly but then hardly checked on throughout our meal. We would find ourselves looking around, trying to catch someone's attention regularly, and we're pretty patient people when we go out. It seemed as though the tables weren't put back in their proper places because the food runner was having a difficult time locating tables by their number. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were actually cooked perfectly for us. However, they brought us blue cheese instead of ranch and because the service was almost non-existent by the time we were able to get someone's attention and get ranch our mozzarella sticks were cold. My husband ordered the shroom and Swiss burger, which was probably the best that was ordered. I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which was the worst chicken sandwich I've ordered out. The description on the menu is not what you get, it states that there is a pickle slaw but there were just sweet pickles added (which, in my opinion do not belong on a chicken sandwich) The fries were okay, the seasoning on them was bland and they weren't consistently cut (not even close) which caused some fries to be way overcooked and some to be way undercooked. We asked for ranch, and were again brought blue cheese. The place is cute inside and out, but they really need to train their service staff better. So much potential. But so much room for improvement. The biggest issue with Detroit Fleat is that you have no idea what's happening when you get there. The hostess situation was a real problem. We put our name on a list and were told it was a 45 minute to an hour wait for a table. We didn't know if we could get in line in any of the food trucks prior to that or even just stand around and eat and we could not get answers. We really weren't sure what we were supposed to do with ourselves so we ended up going for a walk in the area. When we got back we wait waited a little bit more and finally got seated. Then we tried to figure out what to do next. We went to the line for cousins Maine lobster, but also try to figure out how to get a drink and other food. It shouldn't of been complicated and it really wasn't except that nobody knew what to tell us. In line at Cousins, after placing the order we were told it would be another 45 minutes because they were really busy. Hindsight we should've just gotten our food and seeing if a table is ready at that time. But that wasn't what we were told to do. Now for the good part. The food was very tasty. From Detroit fleet we got the garlic Brussel sprouts and fries. Yum. We loved both. We got lobster rolls from Cousins and these were delicious. I think problem number one is we ordered close to closing time. The jerk chicken taco with the corn was actually great. Nice flavors, nice amount and right amount of heat. The beefy boy was really missing the beef!! Ironic considering the name. The small amounts we received were just bland. Nothing special about this one and neither of us finished it. Fleat has been known as a permanent food truck park for some time. It's a cool setup, where you can order from different trucks, and then find yourself a table to enjoy your meal. Covid, plus the weather, changes the equation. Food is still served, but you don't go to a truck to order it. You can order through an app from the table, or go to a counter and place your order. Heated igloos are set up in the parking lot, replacing open tables, or you can sit indoors. I wanted to watch the football game, so we sat next to the fireplace. The drinks were very reasonable. A strong Moscow Mule sets you back six dollars. A potent pint of draft beer costs the same. They were plenty of great options on tap. The food showed up quickly. I ordered the slider trio for $15. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing: crispy and well seasoned on the outside, but juicy on the inside. The hamburger slider was small, but with a lot of beef flavor. The whiskey BBQ slider was similar, but with barbecue sauce that distracted from the flavor of the beef. Next time, I am going to try the veggie slider instead. There are a variety of different fries available, all of them crispy steak fries. I got the Parmesan garlic fries, which or suddenly seasoned. My wife usually loads up on ketchup, but she said they were so tasty if she didn't need any. Despite cheap drink prices, prices add up because everything is separate. Today was my third time here and maybe my last. It's too bad because it's 2 miles ish from my home, and the space is super cute and perfect when the weather is nice. The first time we did the igloo, which was nice but was freezing despite the heaters. The second was ok. Today was absolutely ridiculous. First of all, the online system is completely useless and you don't actually have a server who checks on you so when I couldn't get the stupid thing to work, I had to go up to the bar to ask someone and they basically admitted to me that the app doesn't work right and sucks. So why not get rid of it and give us a server like a normal place? The app wouldn't let me check out or add anything to a tab. The pretzel bites are ok, but they are way too overcooked and the seasoning is weird. The cheese is good, however. I got a salad and it was truly disappointing- mostly just lettuce with a few pieces of vegetables and was $11. Never again. I think I'll stick to just drinks in the future if I decide to return. I visited Detroit Fleat for the first time in about 3 years. I made reservations for their Wednesday Trivia night a month ago, and prior to our visit I saw a few negative reviews regarding the service which made me a bit nervous. Thankfully, we had a great experience! When we arrived we were quickly shown to our reserved table. There is a QR code on the middle of the table that you can scan with your phone, and you can both order and pay from the website. It automatically inputs your table number, and when your items are ready someone brings it out to you. This was probably the easiest ordering experience I've ever had. A server did bring us waters when we sat down, but all other items were ordered from the QR code. You also have the option of ordering at the bar. We did have pop, and when we needed a refill we went to the bar as there was no line. I am unsure if a server would have come to our table for refills, but we had no problem asking for our own at the bar. We started off with the buffalo chicken dip appetizer. The flavor of the dip was good, but it was on the runny side and could have benefited from more chicken in the dip. You definitely have to be a fan of buffalo sauce in order to enjoy this. The chips were good, however I would not order this again unless the dip was revamped. For our main we ordered the Slider Trio with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken slider, the Whiskey Bacon slider, and the Classic slider. All three were amazing. The house party on the Whiskey Bacon and Classic slider had a great flavor and was not overcooked. The Classic was straightforward, but had a tasty sauce that made it my favorite of the trio. The fried chicken had great flavor in the breading, and the garlic aioli was a nice touch that brought it all together. I added a side of their potato wedges to the order. You can choose a flavor for your wedges (I went with salt & vinegar) and they have numerous dipping sauces that come with it (I chose bang bang). For dessert we ordered the cinnamon sugar pretzels, which came with a maple bourbon cream for dipping. The pretzels were a little on the flavorless side, and could have benefitted from more butter and cinnamon sugar. The dipping cream also tastes mostly of cream cheese. This was a large portion, but overall it fell flat. I would not recommend it. Detroit Fleat is definitely pricey. Our meal plus nonalcoholic drinks ran about $60 with tip. However, the trivia night was fantastic so overall it was worth it for a unique night out. I would highly recommend the Slider Trio and a full order of their potato wedges. I would also be interested in trying another one of their appetizers, but I would skip their dessert options. Depending on the night there are also different food trucks that stop by, so that may offer some additional options as well. If you are interested in reserving a table for trivia, it looked like they were full for the next 4-6 weeks so book early inorder to enjoy the fun! read more

Can I give more than 5 stars? This place was enticing from instagram pictures but let me tell you it not only lived up to the hype, it was better than I expected. First off, the staff was friendly. And not that half smile when you bring your toddler in, like one genuinely nice interaction after another. The food and drinks are ordered from a QR code on the table and came out very fast ! We ordered the bbq pork salad (much bigger portion than I anticipated!), the fried chicken sandwich, kids tenders and fries, and salt and vinegar fries. ALL of it was so good. The happy hour beer is $3.50 . Um what. excuse me? I have found my new place! The kids area took us by surprise, I just assumed this food truck place was outdoor and my daughter can run around for 30 min while we eat and it'll be good. We stayed for 3 hours! The kids set up is great for kids of different ages and has enough to play with that kids didn't fight over anything, in fact the kids were playing together. It was awesome to sit down and eat my meal next to the kids area where my kid could play and have fun. Did I mention how I found my new favorite place!?! Only downside, super minor, and specific to summer, but there were quite a few bees around. Like 5-6 at our table, swarming us, not sure how to combat that but be wary! I enjoy Fleat, my friends and I go every Wednesday for trivia. The food is okay, the prices are fair, the parking is free but limited (there is a lot on either side which helps), and the staff is very friendly and helpful (when you can flag them down). You order by QR code or by flagging down their "waitstaff" (which are more order delivery people than waiters in the traditional sense). I'm the summer they offer additional food trucks which expands the offerings of the menu. Pita Pit has a schnitzel sandwich that will keep you coming back (for better or worse the guy that runs the Pita Pit reminds me of Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" character). I honestly can't wait until Pita Pit comes back, I've been dreaming of their schnitzel since they stopped coming in the fall. The decor is your standard modern eatery style, I personally like it, lots of Detroit style (Better Maid, Faygo, and so on). Just know that if you're going for TRIVIA you need to have reservations or try your luck getting there early and sitting at the bar. It's usually booked 3-4 weeks out. I went for the first time a couple weeks ago for brunch and it was less than mediocre to me. We sat outside where we ordered on our phones and servers/food runners brought the food out to us. There was not a designated server out there so it was really difficult to get anything such as napkins, ketchup, and silverware just to name a few. My friend even asked for a refill on water and the server pointed to somewhere for her to get it herself. I think there are servers inside but I'm not for sure on that. I barely touched my pancakes and didn't want to waste them so I figured I would bring them home for my husband to try. I asked for a lid or a box. A server brought me a lid didn't even fit but I was like whatever at that point. I got a Bloody Mary and it was good but I like almost every Bloody Mary I have ever had. Cue up the laughing reacts -- first and foremost, they've been dropping vegan options.. which is kinda fucky. I would have guessed they'd be adding more rather than dumping them. The dip (oldddd picture from February of 2020 pre-COVIDevastation) wasn't great, but could have easily been improved on -- but, they still have tacos and a burger on their menu that both hit pretty nice-like. The tacos are something like nine bucks just for a pair, but they're a decent enough size. A couple doll hairs extra gets you mediocre-at-best chips and salsa. The salsa LOOKS promising, but it's super flavorless. Lime? Salt? Bueller? The burger is house made and delicious -- IF you're not expecting something like Beyond or Impossible. The texture is a little "gummy", but shit dude, it's beets and... beans or something, I dunno. Good stuff. Adding fries costs a couple extra Washingtons (sensing a theme here?) but they're boooooomb. They're wedge-like fries that you can get seasoned and with a dipping sauce. Hell yeah. I will say though, the BBQ sauce ain't shit. I mean, it's edible, but it tastes like the plastic tub type sludge that brings back memories of school lunch in 7th grade. The ALKEYHOL -- primo, champ. My girlfriend and I got a pitcher of margaritas, and they were.. uh.... very strong. Don't slam those on an empty stomach, because they don't skimp. I've been wanting to come here forever to eat, but haven't found the time or energy to drive here, and finally got the chance. I've heard fabulous things about Detroit Fleat, and it's lived up to all the hype after dining here. The decor and layout is fabulous when walking in. Very locally themed with plenty of good food options to choose from. I had a hard time deciding what to get, but ended up going with the two tacos and fries. I loved the tacos, and the fries were actually quite tasty. The barbacoa tacos were fabulous, but could have used a bit more flare to liven them up. I wish they had some more spice to them? If I get them again I have to remember to ask for some kind of hot sauce. They were actually really filling too. I wasn't sure if only 2 tacos was going to cut it, but they actually did. Fries were delicious, and this is coming from someone who isn't the biggest fry eater either. Beverages were filled constantly and my waitress was really nice. I also liked how they had one of those outdoor igloo containers to dine in as well. It was to cold for me to try, and plus I was alone, so maybe if I go with someone I'd be willing to try it. Came here on a Wednesday night in the summer and it was popping! Parking is difficult because their lot is pretty small. But there is street parking available in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. I met up with some friends and they were having a trivia night which we joined and had a lot of fun. So I was a little confused by the restaurant because there's a bunch of food trucks outside but also a kitchen and full menu inside. You can either order from the server inside from their menu or go outside and order from a food truck. Kinda cool concept but I felt like there were too many options and I was missing out on stuff. I didn't want to spend too much time exploring the restaurant and menu because I was focused on hanging out with my friends and the trivia game. I ordered from the kitchen inside and got the fish tacos. The tacos were cheap but rather unimpressive. Just two small tacos with some slaw and sauce. Meh. It took a long time for them to come out but they were very busy. I would go again and hopefully spend more time exploring the menus and to find something that's really good! Outside they have 4 igloo areas which you can reserve online for $30 for 2 hours (fits 8) It was cold today but it's pretty warm inside the igloos, warm enough to take your jacket off.
