These guys are great. I've never seen a workshop so clean before! I got window tints for my car; I wanted something that really blocked the heat from the sun. I went with Expel XR Plus tints. Both Paul and Dan very patiently explained the various options about not straying too far from the legal requirements. I'm very happy with my tints. I just started rolling down the windows today after a five day break to let the tints cure. They make a huge difference in how the car feels inside when it's been parked out in the sun. I got all side windows and the rear windshield tinted along with the visor strip on the front windshield. I didn't want to look like a gangster, so I stayed compliant with VA law. I'm so happy with the tints and the service I got from Detail Authority, I'm going to get my sunroof done in a clear ceramic tint to keep the heat from the sun from beating down on my head in about a month. read more

Last month Detail Authority applied a XPEL ceramic coating to my new BMW M240xi coupe. I am very happy with the results. The car looks fantastic and essentially washes itself every time it rains. I chose Detail Authority for two reasons: 1. The owner, Dan Cohen, detailed my previous BMW for years so I was familiar with his high quality work. 2. The price quote from Dan was about half of the quote by Capitol Shine of Arlington for the same coating, including paint correction. A quote from a detailer near Tysons was even higher. Detail Authority is the closest Xpel tinter to where I live. I had another Xpel certified installer do the tint on my new car, and they messed up multiple times. I brought the car to Detail Authority to fix the other shop's mistakes. They looked over the tint job from the other shop and said it was sloppy work they would never have allowed, which made me feel good. However, the price they quoted for fixing the work was extremely high, but after assurances they would be able to fix it, and being the closest shop to me, I agreed. I got the car back and immediately noticed minor issues - creases in the tint and a large (10+) amount of dust specks under the windshield tint. I pointed these out, and Paul told me to let it fully cure and if there was an issue, they would resolve it. Well, he was right - 24h later and it's an almost perfect tint job. You'll never get 100%, but they probably got it 95% perfect which is probably as good as it gets. The curing made the dust specks almost invisible. Would gladly recommend Detail Authority for tint, just be wary of the price. read more

Matte Paint Considering Matte or Frozen paint? So was I. But, I was concerned about durability and maintenance having read about issues with fingerprints, bugs and water spots. Randy Coffee at Detail Authority had done and outstanding job applying XPEL and Opti Coat to another vehicle, so I called Randy and asked his advice. The result? XPEL Stealth on the front of the vehicle (stone chips are problematic with matte paint) and Opti Coat on everything - and it's stunning. Detail Authority also applied standard XPEL to black trim pieces found in the front and the sides of the front fenders as well as the rear-view mirror stalks. I was concerned about "matching" the XPEL stealth on the front fenders to the Opti Coat applied to the factory frozen paint finish on the rest of the vehicle, but any difference is absolutely imperceptible. We've had the vehicle for 6 weeks now, driven it through heavy and light rain, and discovered matte/frozen paint is a revelation. Compared with a near-black prior vehicle that showed every speck of dust and drop of water, our Detail-Authority-enhanced medium gray frozen paint is literally spotless. We haven't washed it yet. Once, just once, we used Dr. Beasley's matte paint quick detailer on the fenders directly behind the wheels and on the trunk lip, but that's it. Dan Cohen has been detailing my cars for years. He recently moved over to start working at Detail Authority, so when I purchased my new car it was a no brainer. The car goes wherever Dan is. For those that haven't been here before, the shop is small, but they are in the process of moving a few doors down to larger digs, which will allow them to work on more cars simultaneously. With that said, the current shop is immaculate, you could literally eat off the floors it's so clean. And if the shop looks this great, you know your car is gonna get treated right. Dan recommended XPel Premium Kit (covers the front bumper, hood, and side view mirrors) and Rocker Panel covering, and Opti Coat Pro Plus. He further recommended putting down the XPel first, followed by Opti Coat on top. He's done Opti Coat on my previous cars, and I have to say it's a fantastic product. Our 2013 BMW X3 was done the week we purchased it. It only ever goes to the car wash to get washed, and the water still beads up like it was just applied. We never hand wash or wax the car, that's how great a product Opti Coat is! As to my current car, it came out looking great, you can't even tell the XPel film is on the surface (well, you can if you know where to look, and look really really hard). Dan told me exactly how long they'd need my car for, and exactly what the cost would be up front. There were no hidden surprises or extra fees. When I picked up my car I also had an opportunity to meet the owner Randy, and he's a great guy. I had my 2020 MX-5 Miata convertible fully wrapped in XPEL PPF with a ceramic coating on the car and wheels. I called around to a bunch of different places to get quotes and these were the only people to take the time to answer my questions and gather information about what I wanted without rushing or up-selling me. I first spoke with John a couple times on the phone - he was very patient, asked me questions about my car, and made it feel like a genuine conversation. He gave me his recommendation based on what I was looking for and gave me quotes for multiple different scenarios I was considering. When I brought the car in, he took a look and because it was so small and I had to keep it outside he changed his recommendation from a front wrap to a full wrap and gave me a quote for it then and there. This may have been an up-sell/sales tactic, but he certainly didn't push me to buy that - he was just giving me the option based on my scenario. I ended up going with the full wrap and he threw in some soft-top convertible treatment the team would apply for free. He also took me on a tour of their small garage and let me see how their technicians apply the film on the vehicles. I then communicated mostly with Paul through the actual application process. Paul was great and very kind, and called fit me in earlier than expected when they ended up having a cancellation. He called and emailed me during their installation to let me know how things were going and provided updates for when I could plan to pick the car up. Upon pickup they offered for me to come back in a few weeks as they were having some new/better soft-top treatment coming in and told me they would apply that for free once the current treatment seemed like it was wearing off a bit and the new stuff came in. Overall great service and really nice people that aren't pushy and seem to really care about your car. John and Paul are the best!! I first brought my Jaguar F Pace to Detail Authority in 2016, they did a fantastic job with filming the front bumper and the mirrors. They also did the Opti-Coat Plus on the entire car. I recently had to return 5/2020 to get the front bumper film redone and the Opti-Coat reapplied to the right side of the car due to a distracted driver. They again did a fantastic job. I bought a used car from a friend and when I got it the inside was filthy. There was a layer of dust on the mats, plus sand and grains of salt and dirt. I tried cleaning them and vacuuming myself but the coat of dirt was so thick it was to no use. The backseats had dog hair or something on them and the feet area in the back were also disgusting. There was spill stains and dirt stains on the doors and cup holders and dust all over the dashboard. I started to call up places nearby that did interior detailing and Detail Authority's interior detailing was at least $100 cheaper than the other five star places around. The owner was very polite and answered each call promptly. When I drove in and dropped my car off he started on it immediately. When I got it back, it was spotless. He did such an impeccable job, it seemed as if I bought the car brand new. The matts and the flooring were thoroughly washed and cleaned, all the stains and dirt were gone as well. The car smelled fresh, looked clean and all at a reasonably price. I was very happy with it and I look forward to going again if I ever need to. I used detail authority for their xpel paint protectant service for my 2015 BMW M4. I would say that the level of service and the quality of work and attention to details is outstanding. I was referred to Detail Authority by a random person I met at a car wash. I was not very sure if I should trust detail authority with my brand new BMW particularly with limited reviews on yelp. However, i decided to give them a call and see how I feel after talking to them. When I called Randy (the owner) answered. I explained what I am looking to achieve and he walked me through the options. Still unsure if I should trust them with my car I took the risk and gave them a shot. I dropped off my car at night and dropped my key in the overnight Dropbox. I had some concerns with leaving my car however Randy confirmed that it is a safe area and never had any incidents. I chose the full car coverage which required 6-8hrs and agreed to stop by around 5pm to pick it up. Randy offered to pick me up from the metro. This was a very nice gesture and convenience for me. I was not sure what to expect but when I saw my car, I was blown away by his work. The quality, cleanliness and attention to details was amazing. It was a bit pricey but on a car like that you are better off spending a bit extra and buy piece of mind with using Randy. A few days later I notice a small area the size of my thumb peeled off and got dirt inside. I sent Randy a pic and within seconds he responded back. He even offered to come to my house to fix it. We wagered on the day and time and Randy showed up promptly to fix it. The level of service and kindness is unbelievable. Excellent customer service, reasonable pricing, and quality work! We went to detail authority after my car of 10 days got a dent in the door due to someone slamming their car door into mine. I called Detail Authority and spoke to the owner Randy within 2 rings of the phone. While they do business by appoint he had available slots today (Saturday!) and penciled me in. He also does some services at your home, which is very convenient as well! We got to the shop and Randy greeted us outside. We filled out the basic shop paper work and he took a look at the dent. He gave us an estimate of $125 to remove the dent, which is very reasonable. Must other places I contacted charged between $150-$250 to remove the dent which was the size of a quarter. He took the vehicle back and while we waited I read the articles posted in the waiting room related to his experience in the car wash and detailing business. Randy has experience since the 1980's! Really impressive. What is more impressive is within 20 minutes or so the car was done and looked good as new :-) Really happy customer. Randy worked on my '08 Acura TL Type S, which I'm sure has seen better days before taking it in for detailing; holograms, small surface scratches, and minor blemishes were plentiful. However, he and his crew managed to not only get rid of the holograms, but most of the scratches as well. Additionally, the interior was showroom clean. Considering the age of the car, and its condition prior, I'd say the net result is thoroughly impressive and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to friends and family.
