This place was way too expensive for the quality of massage that my husband and I received. I booked a couples massage for us for our anniversary, and although his massage therapist was asking all the right questions before and during the massage, he still left wondering if she was new. He said he felt like she was just winging it the whole time, and didn't know what she was doing. Like, poking around and just digging in his skin. My massage therapist didn't talk to me at all. In fact, I had to ask her to massage harder at one point. She also had a tendency to stay in the same spot longer than normal. She barely massaged my arms and hands. When she did do my hands, she didn't even do my fingers. Same with the feet and toes! I know that may sound petty. But when you pay a certain amount of money for a massage, fingers and toes matter! The facility was nice. They had water, tea, light snacks, slippers, robes, and a comfy waiting area. We would have had a better time just sitting and hanging out in their waiting area in our slippers and robes. We actually had a good time enjoying each other's company and snacking, we were actually bummed when they called us in for the massages haha! My husband and I get massages on a regular basis, so we know what is expected at a high end massage place. And this wasn't it.

Long over due review! Casa Munras is one of our favorite properties because it is central and allows us to bring our dog. During this trip we explored more of the hotel's amenities and thankfully massages were on the to do list. My husband and i had a couples massage with Cini and Anthony. As regular massage clients I was expecting to be on and shuffled off as some property spas do. Thankfully not the case at desire, from reception/check-in being easy and friendly, to enjoying the slow exit after the massage. It was a great experience. Cini provided the BEST deep tissue massage I've ever had. Really worked out knots and made sure the circulation was flowing. I also had a stomach massage add on and it was spectacular. Cini's skills and quiet energy were very relaxing and comforting. Anthony worked in my husband, which was hilarious for me. He usually books with a female therapist. After his massage I checked in with him and he said about 5 min. Into his massage he was trying not to fall asleep! He was completely relaxed and felt comfortable. His favorite part about the massage was that Anthony could target specific knots in my husband's muscles. He even walked out saying he could go to another male therapist. Which is a win! 100/10 on the massages and service!

My husband and I got a 50 minute couples massage (he got Swedish and I got a prenatal). The facility was clean, welcoming, and tranquil. The front desk attendant was polite and welcoming. She gave us a tour of the space and check-in was easy. Nice water pressure in the showers! The lounge area was nice too with lots of cushions, chairs, and lounge beds, with offerings of tea, water, and light snacks. My prenatal massage was WONDERFUL! Alma was my massage therapist and she asked of any areas I would like for her to concentrate on and she delivered! She worked the knots and stress out of my upper back with good pressure. I was able to lay on my stomach with a special prenatal pillow with a hole in the middle to accommodate the pregnant belly. I left my service so so relaxed... thank you! Would definitely come back to try other offerings on their menu.

I've visited this establishment a handful of times and have always had excellent service. The last time I came it was a different name and had access to their hot tub, not sure if this is still the case. This visit entailed a massage and facial. Alma was my massage therapist and was great! She focused on the areas of concern and did a amazing job. Adriana was just as delightful and professional. Look forward to more visits.

These were supposed to be white, but this is how many times they have been washed

Is the waterfall jacuzzi & garden still available to relax pre or post spa service?

No sauna or jacuzzi. You can use the hotel pool which is not relaxing at all as it's in the middle of the parking lot

I will go ahead and give this spa 5 stars but let me explain why…read more.. First the staff is truly amazing! Harmoni was so sweet she greeted us and showed us around the entire spa! She made us feel very welcome and I really appreciated her hospitality feel. Second, Allison did my massage which to be quite honest was a 10 out of 10 for me! That's one of the best massages I've had in a very long time! Only downside was I did a 50 minute which was not even close to long enough! I would come back to her for an 80 minute hands down no questions asked! Third, they have pretty decent amenities. The tea is freakin delicious! Water a plus! Robes were comfy and they provided sandals. Awesome! Now here are the cons: 1. The pool and jacuzzi spa are outside and shared with the hotel guests so when you go outside little kids are jumping in and out of the jacuzzi, splashing around and making a lot of noise. I believe kids should be kids and not have to feel restricted. So with that said this spa is lacking in having its own private spa jacuzzi for relaxation vibes. 2. The "relaxation room" ain't so quiet. It's too close to the entrance so when people come in or check out you hear everything which is so annoying if you're trying to read or relax before or after the massage. Plus it shares a room where the staff out away the items used. So yeah lots of movement going on. 3. The steam room completely lacks steam! Which totally defeats the purpose. I hated that so much . 4. They do not have a swim suit spinner to get the water off your swim wear! You have to leave with it sopping wet in a plastic bag. That's the upside of the situation they provide a bag for you! Big Whoop! Overall I give it a 5 for what they do have and not for what they don't! So just know if you do go that's what's lacking!

I was warmly greeted at the front desk and escorted right away to get changed for my massage. My massage therapist was Amy and she was lovely! I do a lot of computer desk work & Amy relieved a lot of my knots. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Then, I enjoyed a hot cup of herbal tea & was able to shower after. I highly recommend this spa for any of their services!

Absolutely incredible experience. I am a busy mom of 4 young ones and I don't think I have had so…read moremuch silence in years! I could have spent the entire day here. Everything here is clean and everyone is respectful. You check in and they give you a water and a key to a locker. The locker rooms are clean and each have towels and a super comfy robe. After changing you get to explore. We started with the sauna which has a wall of Himalayan salts. It was packed when we first went in yet despite how many people were in there the room is completely silent. After the sauna we headed over to the cold plunge- they have two options, cold and cool. Probably about and 10-15 degree difference in temperature, both were perfect to plunge in after the sauna. Then we warmed back up in the hot tubs, which again they have two options, warm and hot. We also went into the steam rooms which were great for my husband who was congested at the time. The eucalyptus and steam helped him so much and smells great! There are also fire pits to sit by and enjoy and zero gravity chairs which are in a room with some wonderful relaxing music. The silence policy is very strictly followed which was amazing. I think my favorite aspect of this concept is that even polite courtesies which are typically expected when around strangers are not expected. Everyone is respectful without feeling the need to say anything. It's was so refreshing. There was only one group at one point of 5 young girls all enjoying the hot tub and chatting quite loudly ( we could hear them from inside the sauna) but seems like maybe someone said something to them because when we passed by them later on they were still talking but whispering. Other than that I don't think I heard a word from anyone the entire time. I just wish we had been able to get massages, we booked this last minute (our fault) and everything was full. Next time (and there will definitely be a next time) we will get massages! Yet even without a massage I still left feeling as though we had had one, that's how relaxed we were.

The massages were 2 out of 10, it felt like our therapists didn't know what they were doing. After massages, we wanted to spend some time at the facility. I forgot my face wash at home, so I asked a guy who worked there where can I find one. He said that their estheticians were gone for the day, but they might have something in front that I could buy. So I went to the front. I explained to a woman what I was looking for, she directed me to look in the cupboard but wasn't sure if they had anything available. There was no product that matched my needs. On my way back to the lockers, I encountered her again. I told her that I didn't find the product I was looking for. She said you pay $50 for entrance and you expect a face wash to be here??? I was stunned. First of, I paid over $400 for 2 massages. Apparently, they were running a promotion with discounted entrance after 4pm or something. Second of, yes, I do expect a good spa to have products available including a face wash. This was extremely unprofessional of her and it made the time we spent there unpleasant, like we were not welcome there because she thought we paid $50 for entrance. Never coming back. The employee needs to be held accountable for how she treats spa guests no matter how much they pay.

I had never had this kind of massage or facial before, so I enjoyed speaking with both staff about the benefits and how beneficial this form of massage and facial were to me. And when I left, I was not only very relaxed, but the fine lines and reduction of sagging neck made me look 20 years younger. And the effects of the facial lasted almost 4 days. I was glowing aty birthday dinner and felt amazing! The spa is very zen and welcoming: pastel tones, sea art, candles, soft music, comfortable robe, cucumber water and a variety of teas in the waiting lounge, which faces the pool with several lions trickling fountain and Jacuzzi. They sell several different skincare lines, and there is no pressure to buy anything. I was very pleased that I received samples of the products used for my facial, which I will use after I determine the order in which I need to use them. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I was the last appointment of the day, but they did not push or rush me to leave. I felt pampered and special, and that they truly wanted me to have the most relaxing and enjoyable day. As Monterey is one of my favorite California cities, I look forward to returning to the hotel and the spa soon. I have had a number of spa treatments over the years, but never had a facial with results that lasted for more than one day. I highly recommend this spa for anyone who wants to feel relaxed and pampered. It is the ultimate experience for self care!
