I have been coming here for over a year and it's been wonderful The spa is small but well stocked and maintained by lovely staff. I use Carolyn Aliotti for my facials and waxes and she does a wonderful job. Pleasant , friendly and very professional the two hours spent there go quickly with wonderful results You can use the facilities at Carmel Valley Ranch which is another perk of making a spa appointment especially if the weather is beautiful using their pool and hot tub. I planned on celebrating part of my 40th bday here but they sent an impersonal email less than 3 days before canceling everything. No other spa I was interested in is available for the weekend and I have 5 friends traveling from out of town. They canceled last minute because the rented out the whole spa for a weekend. I had an amazing experience with Daura! I went in for the Swedish massage with the lavender oil scalp massage add-on, but after explaining where areas of muscle pain/tension were, she transitioned to a deep tissue massage and explained what postures at work were causing muscle stress and some exercises and positions that would relive my low back and shoulder pain. The scalp massage was also so soothing and my hair looks so hydrated and healthy the day after. Cannot recommend enough! read more

I had an incredible experience in Spa Aiyana today. I got the 50 minute ranch alchemy massage with Emily, and she was fantastic! She was so personable and took the entire 50 minutes. She didn't seem rushed, and it was very relaxing. The massage itself was one of the best I've had. The amenities are wonderful - outdoor hot tub, fire pit, pool, steam room, and many lounge areas. After the massage, I got a complimentary glass of champagne and a cupcake, an in was a nice touch. I also like that you can order food and drink by the hot tub throughout the day. The makeup removing cleanser and the exfoliating toner have been interesting to adjust to and you were right, the exfoliating toner has given a nice replenished skin look & feel. lots more control to my oily t zone and overall a true life changing facial. I want to first start off by saying the grounds are beautiful! The spa is so peaceful and relaxing. We were a big group, so it was impossible to sit inside. Therefore, we sat outside by the hot tubs and fire pit. My massage therapist was perfectly professional and used the right amount of pressure. The showers and changing rooms were clean. The gift shop was convenient for those of us needing a snack during our wait. I appreciated the glass of champagne in the spa as well. The only downfall was the parking space situation. But we came on a busy weekend, so it's not really a downfall. Totally recommend whether it's for one, two, or 12 of you! read more

2 stars because this is a review of the SPA and its treatments. I got a lavender garden with reflexology massage because their online brochure says massage to include hands, feet and Scalp. My massage was so so, nothing great. I didn't feel like she did a really good job at the hands and feet. I've had better at other day spas. That would have been fine but I didn't even get a Scalp massage! It's not like i can keep time to ask if she's still going to the Scalp, frankly not my job...but then it was hot towels on the feet and we're done! I mentioned this disappointment to the lady at the front when paying and she could care less. All she responded was you got the reflexology massage, they spend time on hands and feet so don't do the Scalp. Perhaps she should read what their website brochure advertises? Spa facility was meh. Felt dated. There is only a wet steam room but no dry sauna. They also had no Sunscreen. How could a sunny California high end spa not have Sunscreen as an amenity. I forgot mine and had to use my face Sunscreen all over my body it was nice they had a swimsuit spinner to get the water out but that's it 5 stars to the view where the jacuzzi and pool is. My bf and I received two spa treatments on 4/13 at 4:00pm. A couples massage and scalp treatment. After the visit, we were charged a service fee of 20%, on top of our services. (We were never told this but said it was stated in an email) We asked the cashier is this gratuity ? They replied " No." So we gave cash tip of $45 per person. (Later we come to find out that the service charge is in lieu of a tip and that we paid double!) We were very confused by the service charge and this left a very bad taste in our mouth. I felt very deceived by this and I have tried to contact the spa 3 separate times. I've spoke to two people who claim is isn't a tip? But it's in lieu of a tip? During the last conversation, the front desk asked me to email the spa manager. I'm unsure how customers are treated there but after my 3rd attempt you would assume they would take MY NUMBER down and contact me! And explain what is going on. Super disappointed with their service and staff for not being more informative/ honest with their fees. read more

Received a spa treatment for my birthday and did not expect anything special as I have received massages before and thought this place was going to be hyped up due to being at a resort and my wife liked the amenities at the spa. We received a couples massage and she stated Wen Li was great which was good to hear. I received my massage from Wendy and was a little worried as I usually like pressure but was wowed by her finesse and different angles I have not experienced. Her pressure was firm but not too hard nor soft and gave me different stretches I hadn't felt and the transition from one part to another area was very smooth. Asked her how long she did this for and she said over 20+ years....that made a lot of sense with why she was well versed. I wish I lived closer, so I could come again. It is a pricey massage but the perk is you can use their spa, pool, steam room, and other amenities. Overall a lovely experience. A tiny bit overpriced, but you're paying for location. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The facilities are clean. I wish the locker rooms had more amenities like hair ties or curling irons. I appreciated the comfy robes and delicious spa water. The massage was good and the cleansing facial was phenomenal. Savannah as the receptionist, makes assumptions based on how you look (l had my bathing swim on), and she made me feel l was "unworthy" of her time or kindness. She didn't say hello or, "do you have a reservation with us today?". Her first approach to me was: "Unfortunately, we don't have lockers available for visitors; this is for clients only." This is very unprofessional and not-welcoming, considering this is the face of the Spa and the company. On top of that, she switched the type of massage between my friends and me. So, it took precious time to clarify that, and definitely, l didn't get an apology or her willingness to fix the situation. The massage I got at the end was good, and the rest of the staff were lovely. But this person made the whole experience quite bittersweet because of a hint of discrimination and, of course, rudeness. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our time at the Carmel valley ranch but spa Aiyana was the highlight my trip. My masseuse Aliya was absolutely fantastic. She worked out my knots and stretched me out with the arnica massage. Bernadette was my hubby's masseuse and he said she was great too. I had the hydra facial, which isn't very relaxing and they pretty much run the machine over your face with all the exfoliants and serums. Kimi did ny husband's men's facial and he loved it. We loved the complimentary gluten free cupcakes after our treatments. The food at CMR is really good and light. Spa aiyana has the covid protocol down right. All staff wear masks and shields, UV sanitizers are placed in rooms and waiting areas, and the bathrooms/showers are disinfected between clients. The steam room in the women's lounge isn't working but the one on the men's side is up and running. I've been to the vista blue spa at Monterey plaza hotel too and pepper was my masseuse there, but Aliya was a cut above and that makes me believe they're very selective about who they hire at Spa aiyana. I'll definitely be returning and recommending them to friends and fam. read more

I had a wonderful experience the last time I was at this spa, but it was more because of the providers that I was assigned to rather than the spa itself. I can't say enough good things about Katarina for massage and Crystal for a facial. Katarina "Kat" took her time to ask me all the right questions as I was coming in after an abdominal surgery so we had to modify the massage and it was amazing!! She had really good ideas on how to get the maximum benefit even though I was still early on in my healing phase. Crystal is just awesome. I have sensitive skin and she was able to recommend products that were soothing and she was also just super fun to chat with during my treatment! I know some other people have posted bad reviews about this spa so that's why I wanted to post this and let others know who to request if they choose to go. I highly recommend calling ahead and requesting these two ladies!! read more

I booked two separate couple's massages on Tuesday for this past Sunday at 2pm. In fact during the call, the young lady--I recall her name to be Victoria, though may not be recollecting correctly--was super helpful. We were looking at either the Saturday or Sunday, but she only had availability for the 2 separate couple's massages on Sunday. Specifically, Sunday Aug 4. In fact, at the end of the call, she specifically stated that it will be great to welcome us this coming Sunday, August 4. Yes indeed, I said, and thanked her so much for being helpful. So looking forward to this as we were driving in 60 miles for a nice 1/2 day long enjoyment with another couple. Gave her our CC number and all the names of the parties and all was good. Or so we thought. We arrived about 2 hours early and was told we were not in the computer. "Hmm...let me look again" I'm told. A few moments later with a perplexed look and the first of several "I am so sorry" lines, we're told that our reservations were made for the FOLLOWING SUNDAY, August 11. Huh? What? After more of "I so sorry", we were told they were completely booked and had no room for us, but that she'd be happy to allow us to use the facilities if we'd like. Really? I was so disappointed, as was our group, in their complete screw up on the reservations. Completely unacceptable. To compound the matter, the desk person--who otherwise is a nice person--did nothing that offer the facility to us. Great! I wish she would have phoned a manager or had done something other to address the complete mess up. Not that we were looking for anything, and we weren't, but how about--"hey, let me get you a table and enjoy lunch on us, and during that, I'll contact my manager to see what we can do about this mistake"--or "let me get you folks a wonderful bottle of wine and a few appetizers and allow me to check into this further so we can welcome you back another time"--or SOMETHING MEANINGFUL that makes up for your complete service failure. Again, it was so, so disappointing. We would very much like to support and enjoy Spa Aiyana but with their poor attention to client service not once but a second time with deafness while on property, I'm not sure we will. read more

Overall a disappointing experience that began at the front desk. The feeling that I got as soon as I walked there was that they were not going to do anything to be accommodating or to make my experience worth of a spa. I had two services booked, one for me and one for a friend. The one for my friend had to be cancelled because she had had a procedure done recently and they said that they had a policy for those cosmetic procedures, there was a seven day period that needed to pass before a facial could be done. Very quickly they mentioned that the 50% charge would be applied for her service because it was not their fault. I asked if it would be possible to get a massage for her instead, that way she would have a service. They said that it was okay to get a massage, but she will still have to paid the 50% fee of the facial that she did not have. At no point there was an intent of making things work. The attitude was so unkind and condescending. My facial was okay, not terrible, not great, a standard experience. When I went to paid they said the gratuity was already included and they charged me a $108 processing fee, which is what I think they were referring to as the tip. So, not only do they not do their best, but they charge the gratuity as if they had done the most amazing service possible. I will not be coming back to the spa and I do not think that I will return to the property at all. This is the second time that I have this experience when I deal with staff there, that it is as if they do not want you there. read more

I had a floral mist massage and my mom had the hot stone massage both were awesome! The staff are professional and very well trained. Also the pool area has beautiful views overlooking CVR complete with a hot tub and many lounge chairs. I booked a hydrafacial appointment with Kimmy and I absolutely love it! I've been hearing a lot of good things about hydrafacial and I very want to try it. I'm so glad I found the spa while staying at the Carmel Valley Ranch. Kimmy was patient, lovely and highly professional. I have acne-prone skin with lots of blackheads around T zone. Kimmy explained every step she did to me and her skills are purely amazing. She also did the extraction for me although it's not included in the services I purchased. My skin looks so great after the facial. Kimmy also gave many skincare tips which are absolutely helpful. Highly recommend her if you're down to the Carmel area and looking for some self-pampering time! read more

First of all I went for a prenatal massage and this place was recommended because I really wanted Refuge up the road. They were nice in making the appointment and flexible ( now I know why). The spa was beautiful as in the lodge grounds very well maintained. The shop was nice with some great spa buys. The two women were nice in there but not very welcoming and I had spoken to one of them on three occasions so remembering me should not have been difficult. The one 5 star attribute as to guest services would be the sweet little attendant that brought me to my locker. She was what I assume the housekeeper and was the nicest sweetest person the whole day. She actually congratulated me and was memorable. The lounge area was warm but NOT serene. There was a birthday group and they were loud talking about their mediocre spa treatment. Should have been a sign. So I wait for my masseuse which happened to be a massure and I what I got was not a relaxing experience. The room was cold, you could hear all the squeaking of shoes, and they didn't have a maternity pillow or anything special for mother's to be. So let down. The actual massage was nothing special and was more like a rubbing of my body ( completely missed my arms!!!!!). He said he had been there for 8 years and that was shocking. The way that the linens were put were put were loose and you could feel a draft . They should be tucked right and there should always be consistency with the motion of the massage. It was jumbled and the least relaxing experience. And he talked. Which is fine for a hair dresser or pedicure but this was the only getaway and talking was not on my agenda. A few tweaks here and there and this spa could be elite. Get some massage techniques refined, really explain services to new customers, always ask if you can get them something don't expect the guests to serve themselves ( there was plenty of attendants to do this), and offer other amenities. For the price they should have at least one maternity table where the prenatal massage can take place so they can lay on their stomachs. The side lay really isn't accomplishing anything. read more

Had the best massage a couple of days ago by Emily! I had already scheduled an appointment for that day for the Ranch Alchemy Maasage. Just so happened that I woke that morning with a headache (which isn't uncommon for me). I was almost going to cancel my appointment but thought I could let the therapist know, and I would ask if I could get a massage without the essential oils. But as soon as I let Emily know about the headache and asked for Peppermint, she chose the sore muscles blend for me. She let me know all the oils that she would be using and if I was okay with that. She did such a great job, loosening all my knots, even unknotting my shoulder that I thought was due to frozen shoulder..she is easy to talk to and fun to talk to. She loved what she does and she is great at it! If I could, I would see her again! But I don't know when I'll be back in Carmel! If you are in need of a massage and need some tension relief, go see Emily! At the end of my appointment, she also gave me a mini gluten-free muffin, although everyone gets one of these. I scheduled a couple massage for 9/11 Sunday for our anniversary. We have been in Monterey since Friday and decide to spend last day at Carmel Valley at spa Anaya with a couples massage. We got there early to enjoy the infinity hot tub. It was very dirty around the hot tub not very clean service was OK and average but the location was pretty. We went in for our couples massage. My husband had a young woman I think Latina I had another woman that was half Korean and half black. The reason I'm pointing out the race is because it was important to the massage therapist for us to know what the race she is. Our entire massage experience was loud uncomfortable. I have lower back pain now since the appointment and the massage therapist that was half black and half Korean. I forgot her name was using racial slurs and saying how people are too sensitive now and how her dad used to call Hispanics w** b*** and how her brother 6'3 and he's black. she wanted to make it a point that we knew that she was half black and how big her brother was and how big her dad was and how people are so racially sensitive. I am Indian and my husband is half black and half Hispanic so for her by making these racial slurs we felt offended and uncomfortable during my whole massage and I'm sure the massage therapist working on my husband was uncomfortable by the things that she was saying it was not a pleasant Massage experience. I did speak to the spa manager and she offered me to come back at 3 o'clock yesterday to get another massage which I was already on my way home and then she offered asked me what I wanted and I asked for a refund and I only received half a refund even though our whole massage experience was ruined so if you want to use this spa, go right ahead, but be ready to listen to racial slurs, and the girl's brother is 6'3 and black . Speaking very, very loud, I've been to a lot of spas all over the world and this the worst experiences I've had and the way the staff is handled is absolutely a big joke. read more

Driving into Carmel Valley Ranch is very picturesque, the landscape, golf course, and beautiful scenery is breathtaking! The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I didn't have the time to enjoy the other amenities such as swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, etc. I scheduled a facial and it was very relaxing and my skin feels extremely hydrated and glowing!! Spa Aiyana was great! They were very accommodating and willing to work with us. I had a great time relaxing with my friend for our 2 hour service. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because on the website they advertise that the prices include gratuity however upon check out they added gratuity on top of the package price which came out to an additional $51. 10/10 recommend this spa. Tayna is working magic on that massage table in a way that will make your feel years younger and the entire support staff is exceptionally kind and attentive. The overall ambiance of the facility indoors and out cannot be beat. Christina did my facial and was very knowledgeable and informative about the products and types of skin care that would help me continue some self care at home. We had light lunch in the restaurant and our server Bert was also so kind. I think he wished me a happy birthday no less than 10 times and made some great recommendations for our meals and we were not disappointed. I was really excited to try the spa at CVR and I have to say I was fairly disappointed. As an avid spa goer I look forward to the use of the facilities almost as much as the massages themselves. When we arrived the spa attendant who consistently looked like a deer in the headlights to our questions informed us that the hot tub was not "ready" yet. Apparently because the cushions and towels were not yet out even though it was 10:45 and apparently the spa opens at 8:30, not to mention it was MDW. The attendant was then running around rushing to do so but regardless we were not able to use the spa prior to our 11:30 massages. I did enjoy the zen waiting room with snacks and plenty of beverage options including prosecco on ice. My massage was...good. I was disappointed that my masseuse kept the lights all the way on the entire massage and gave me a towel for my eyes when I flipped to my back. When we finished our treatments we went to use the hot tub finally to find it was...not hot. Comparable to a semi heated pool. We spent a little time there then went to shower in the locker room where BOTH my mom and mine showers were clogged with literally globs of hair. The property itself is so gorgeous and I had high hopes for our experience but it's earned in the details that I don't feel were carried out. read more

I had a rejuvenating facial with Kimberlee and I fell in love! My facial experience isn't extensive, but i was worried as my skin is very sensitive and with a very specific allergy, I was worried that I wouldn't have been a good candidate. However, Kimberlee made sure she did not use products with "willow bark" and basically made me feel amazing!
