The facilities are really great -- there is a steam room, dry sauna, nice changing area/locker section, and waterfall showers.

The receptionist was very friendly and showed us all the amenities of the spa. Even though we weren't staying at the hotel, we still would have access to all the features, such as the gym. We started off in the changing rooms which were really nice and clean. There were a lot of little goodies available to help you freshen up before your service. We were also each given a locker key, sandals, and a robe which we appreciated. Once you are changed, you wait in the lounge where the staff will get you when they are ready. The lounge was water, coffee, tea, and a handful of snacks available while you wait. My husband and I were picked up promptly at our start time and were led into our room. The ladies that worked with us were great and did a good job adjusting things for us as needed. Since I'm pregnant, they had special pillows for me so that I could lay in my stomach. Overall, this was a great experience and we would definitely come back!

I have scoliosis and told my massage therapist I have tightness on my left side. She went over it quickly then spent a LOT of time on my right side. I thought she'd return back to the left side but then she moved to the legs, so I figured she'd get back to my problem area as a finisher. Soon, the massage was over. So that was a bummer. I also asked for firmer pressure early on and I could've sworn I heard her scoff at my request. Another big bummer. I'm not mean spirited so I said everything was fine at the end because at that point what can she even do? Probably nothing. I didn't speak up during the service about returning to my problem area because who am I to direct a professional when I'm assuming she heard me and would address it later on? I really hate to say it but I could have paid less than half the $300 I spent here and stayed home instead of flying out to this spa specifically to be disappointed like this. I reached out to them about this on a Friday and as of today (Wednesday) I haven't heard back from them. It's definitely a very cute, fun place to throw money at if you have it to throw, but if you want services that are actually worth your money with providers who are world class professionals at what they do, this is not the place. The amenities are nice. I can tell it's not meant to get ready in, rather you'd have a spa day then return to your room to get ready. Very... intimate locker room, awesome sauna, and the view from the outdoor hot tubs is to die for!! In the future I'd stay at the hotel and try out a different spa nearby (:

I will go ahead and give this spa 5 stars but let me explain why…read more.. First the staff is truly amazing! Harmoni was so sweet she greeted us and showed us around the entire spa! She made us feel very welcome and I really appreciated her hospitality feel. Second, Allison did my massage which to be quite honest was a 10 out of 10 for me! That's one of the best massages I've had in a very long time! Only downside was I did a 50 minute which was not even close to long enough! I would come back to her for an 80 minute hands down no questions asked! Third, they have pretty decent amenities. The tea is freakin delicious! Water a plus! Robes were comfy and they provided sandals. Awesome! Now here are the cons: 1. The pool and jacuzzi spa are outside and shared with the hotel guests so when you go outside little kids are jumping in and out of the jacuzzi, splashing around and making a lot of noise. I believe kids should be kids and not have to feel restricted. So with that said this spa is lacking in having its own private spa jacuzzi for relaxation vibes. 2. The "relaxation room" ain't so quiet. It's too close to the entrance so when people come in or check out you hear everything which is so annoying if you're trying to read or relax before or after the massage. Plus it shares a room where the staff out away the items used. So yeah lots of movement going on. 3. The steam room completely lacks steam! Which totally defeats the purpose. I hated that so much . 4. They do not have a swim suit spinner to get the water off your swim wear! You have to leave with it sopping wet in a plastic bag. That's the upside of the situation they provide a bag for you! Big Whoop! Overall I give it a 5 for what they do have and not for what they don't! So just know if you do go that's what's lacking!

Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about the technology-free environment, as I had planned to catch up on emails. However, disconnecting turned out to be a blessing. It gave my eyes and brain the much-needed break they craved. The location itself is a serene oasis. I thoroughly enjoyed moving from the cold plunge to the heated pool, then relaxing by the fire pit, and indulging in the steam room and dry sauna. The eucalyptus steam was an absolute highlight--hands down the best I've ever experienced. Walking out of Refuge Days, I felt rejuvenated and like a whole new woman. This place is a true sanctuary for relaxation and self-care. I can't wait to return and embrace the tranquility again.

Reception was helpful and friendly and facilities were overall pretty clean and well maintained. No issues with the steam room/hot tubs/cold plunge pools and sauna. The only bit that irked me a little was that this place is supposed to be SILENT and also they clearly stated in the rules that there are no saving seats with personal items but these rules were both not enforced, people were talking/laughing and not a single staff was there to remind them to quiet down. Also around the firepits people were leaving their towels to claim spots so it was hard to find a seat around the firepits, 2 of the firepits had no one sitting there but all the chairs had towels on them. The anti-gravity chairs were also really squeaky (like more than normal), so it was hard to relax with all the sounds. Overall a nice place but they really should enforce the rules that they have to make it a more pleasant experience for those of us who are there to relax. Also- not sure why it is so hard for people to follow the rules, i mean are you guys just stupid or illiterate and can't read the signs that say "silence"?

I had never had this kind of massage or facial before, so I enjoyed speaking with both staff about the benefits and how beneficial this form of massage and facial were to me. And when I left, I was not only very relaxed, but the fine lines and reduction of sagging neck made me look 20 years younger. And the effects of the facial lasted almost 4 days. I was glowing aty birthday dinner and felt amazing! The spa is very zen and welcoming: pastel tones, sea art, candles, soft music, comfortable robe, cucumber water and a variety of teas in the waiting lounge, which faces the pool with several lions trickling fountain and Jacuzzi. They sell several different skincare lines, and there is no pressure to buy anything. I was very pleased that I received samples of the products used for my facial, which I will use after I determine the order in which I need to use them. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I was the last appointment of the day, but they did not push or rush me to leave. I felt pampered and special, and that they truly wanted me to have the most relaxing and enjoyable day. As Monterey is one of my favorite California cities, I look forward to returning to the hotel and the spa soon. I have had a number of spa treatments over the years, but never had a facial with results that lasted for more than one day. I highly recommend this spa for anyone who wants to feel relaxed and pampered. It is the ultimate experience for self care!
