I hate to say this was the worst massage I've ever had. Wasn't the warmest of massage therapist, came off rushed and honestly untrained. I was a bit perplexed by what was even happening. A weird combination or lack luster lotion rubbing and some odd pink point pushing. I get a lot of massages and know every therapist is different but this was not enjoyable for me. I also paid for 75 minutes and found it tacky that she stopped 5 minutes before my ended time. How do you tell someone you are paying that their massage was not good? I asked Destinee to go heavy on the massage because my sports make my muscles super tight and she absolutely destroyed me; it was great. So relaxed now. I'll be sore for the next couple days for sure and then I'll be the most limber I have been in months. Highly recommend her. Trisha gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. I got a day-of appointment on a Saturday by giving them a call and was so grateful. The person I spoke with for the booking was accommodating and caring. I tweaked my back badly the day of a family wedding and the only way I was able to get myself to that wedding was because of the amazing CBD and hot stone varied technique massage Trisha gave me. Trisha is kind, super talented, and knowledgeable. She made me want to take an anatomy class haha! I was a bit apprehensive about the CBD oil as the last time I used it it had a strong cooling effect I didn't like, but the one they used did not do that. Good: Barbara, my masseuse, was wonderful. Her energy is positive and relaxing. She puts so much care into her craft. She learns about you but doesn't forget you're there to relax and be quiet. She has several unique methods I loved. Would see her again. My friends had massage/facial from Destinee and they both said it was really good Bad: we were told in advance we had to give 20% gratuity and that we had to cancel 2 days in advance. Destinee knew we had a party of three so she booked two at 12:30 and one at 1:45. However when we arrived, Destinee said the 1:45 family member couldn't sit and wait in the spa because both staff members are working with clients. What?!! She should have said that on the phone when she gave me all the payment warnings. She said if I had a complaint I could address the owner. I think the better thing would be to 1) introduce herself and 2) recommend a nearby coffee shop or wine bar to wait. Just pretend you're empathetic. She never introduced herself to either of my family members. We found her name on the receipt. read more

I called the evening before the day I was hoping to get in...me and my last minute decision...and Ethan was very accommodating with my schedule. From the moment you walk in it's like the stress of every day life begins to melt away. Aqua Wellness is a quaint day spa with a relaxation room for you to enjoy before and after your appointment. Now onto the massage itself. Ethan is amazing! He takes the time to listen to his client and then figures out the best massage for said client. We were considering getting massages at this spa after our breakfast, until the store clerk was extremely rude to us while we were standing outside. We were ordering food from the deli next-door and she came outside and very rudely and sarcastically told us to leave her storefront and that we were disturbing her customers. It was awfully sad to see a white woman with a Buddha statue outside of her establishment, asking Buddhist people to leave her storefront. Would not recommend. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The scrub was terrible. It's pretty much just like a scrub you can purchase at the store and use in the shower. Also, I have had many body scrubs where you lay on your stomach and they scrub your entire back/legs etc. However, she made me sit up uncomfortablely and scrubbed my back like that. I felt like a grandma being given a shower. I had also booked a facial and I should have just walked out after that terrible scrub but I gave her a chance and it was a complete waste of money. Everything she did I already do at home. $340 later and a VERY unhappy customer. A $53 tip that I never would have given but there's an automatic 20% added. Massages were great definitely should've done more time. Go easy on the firmness these ladies look petite but they are packing power! My friend has all kinds of bruises lol I fell asleep since I was so relaxed so I had no issues. If you get there early theres a cool area downstairs with a water feature, and comfy chairs soothing lighting. Nice. They were great with a last minute reservation too very accommodating. read more

Spa squeezed us in which was very much appreciated. Booking process was very easy and nice that there was no need to check out. The facial massage was pleasantly unexpected. Never had that much massage in a facial could really tell the masseuse knew how to massage. The body massage was also nicely done. The feedback to share was during the first service there was disruption..had to move car, pick up a call. During the second service someone was knocking quite loudly and could hear her arguing with the other tech. It was very distracting and hard to enjoy. The same applies to my fiance who also had a break in his service to handle the situation. The facial was not a typical facial with steam or extraction. Most of the time was spent massaging. Additionally sent two emails after service as was overharged and no responses. For the price of service was not worth it. Will not be coming back. read more

I explained to Lila where I hurt and my injuries and She actually listened and really worked the areas without making me hurt. I am still in amazement. This is a long delayed review. My wife and I just got married a day before we went to this spa on 10/28/2019. We called the morning of and got an appointment for an early afternoon slot. We didn't mention anything about our wedding. We booked the lavender scrub and massage, 2 hour session. The owner was the masseuse for my wife and another woman was my masseuse. Yes the spa is small but the hospitality and massages were top notch and you will bump into other clients during the transition but everyone is friendly. We went for the scrub because we were staying in a treehouse in Watsonville that was hit by the PGE power shut offs so no hot water and that was all we wanted after the wedding. My masseuse, an Asian lady was amazing. I had a sore neck for months but her hands were magic. She was able to squeeze out all the soreness and and bad mojo. Absolutely amazing. The masseuse/owner did an amazing job on my wife as well. Prices were reasonable since the service was well worth every penny. I don't know if they were reasonable in comparison to other spas in the area since we are not Carmel residents and like going to the cheaper Thai massage places. Will definitely come back again. I got the body scrub and wrap. The lady didn't scrub the back of my legs. I've had scrubs before and they usually start you on your back to scrub down and then have you flip over. This girl had me lay on my back, which she then wasn't able to get the back of my legs. I had to sit up for her to do my back which didn't make the experience relaxing. I purchased the add ons of the facial and masque. The facial was supposed to be 30 mins per their website but it was only 10 at most. It felt cheaply done for a price tag of $300. I also couldn't add my own gratuity bc they add it to the price. I see why their people aren't motivated to do a good job when they know they'll get a 20% tip no matter what. read more

I like that they take walk-ins as I am visiting Carmel and Monterey but did not have all activities planned out. I was so lucky to be able to grab the last spot for the day for myself and my boyfriend. This is the first massage both is us have ever had after the pandemic. Fantastic service and experience!! My wife and I came in town to visit my parents and for my wife's birthday and wanted to make a reservation for a massage. It was the day before and they worked to accommodate us for the next day at the time we wanted and it worked out great! The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming and the feel and vibe of the place is really cool. The downstairs relaxing area has a neat little waterfall feature that's super cool! Both of our massage therapists were professional and did an exceptional job!! A special thanks to Lila who was my therapist and did a stellar job!! My masseuse whose name I unfortunately can't remember, listened and followed my needs. I do think the 20% automatic gratuity is a bit off putting. We chose a couple massage at AW, and I can't say enough good things about it: 1) Great front desk with a friendly and helpful employee; we came a day early to book our massage, and she answered all our questions and helped us choose personalized massages. 2) On the day we arrived, we were escorted to the relaxation room, which is truly relaxing, not pretentious, and almost put us to sleep. 3) Both masseuses (wish I knew their names - I'm sure they told us, but we were already groggy from the relaxation room!) asked the appropriate questions about pressure and problem areas, and then really did a wonderful job. They checked in appropriately, and we agreed the pressure found the right groove for our specific needs. 4) Also - for what it's worth - I usually am kind of "meh" with massage/spa music, but they had a good Pandora station - sadly I've blanked on the name; I'm sure you can find out if you contact them! 5) The price for an hour-long couple massage was extremely reasonable ($220), particularly for the area. I had a wonderful facial with Destinee this weekend! It was very relaxing and my skin loved all of the products that she used.. She gave a great massage too! I would definitely book another facial with her! The spa itself is quaint and has a dark, relaxing waiting room.. The spa room was very pretty and the wall of products inside the room was very cool! So many different treatments to mix and match exactly for your skin's needs. The room is next to the deli so unfortunately, there was some noise and occasional banging against the wall. The one bummer is that the spa adds automatic gratuity to your treatment and charges a $5 credit card fee.. that's a bit much if you ask me. And adding gratuity.. this isn't a restaurant with a large party! I would have much rather been able to tip in cash and an appropriate amount.. not on a credit card and what the salon thinks i should tip. I understand people in the beauty industry don't always get the gratuity they deserve but the gratuity should also be up to the client and how great their experience was. I would have gladly tipped Destinee the automatic amount and maybe even more.. and in cash! But what if she didnt provide a great service? i mean just what if? then i would be stuck.. I have never not tipped even if i didnt have "the best" service but i just really think it should be up to the client. Besides that, i loved my facial and really enjoyed spending a day getting pampered! read more

I've been a customer of Aqua Wellness for years at their Pacific Grove location. It's no surprise to see their success spill over into opening a Carmel location. They created something really special in Pacific Grove and have surpassed that in what they've made in Carmel. The massage rooms are comfortable and the decor is appealing. As far as the massage itself, I've been seeing Tricia for years, and she if by far the best therapist I've had. Very intuitive, with extensive knowledge of the human body and muscles. I had been through 5 therapists in the Monterey area before finding the perfect massage with Tricia. The most unique thing about this new location is the relaxation room they've made downstairs. It has many comfy lounge chairs where they serve tea and let you unwind before or after your treatment. The premiere feature is the large cascading waterfall they built off to the side of the room. It truly emulates the sound of steady rain. Combine that with a perfect balance of lighting and darkness and you have coolest relaxation room that I've seen. It's something that must be seen to appreciate. read more

Last month our daughter gifted my husband and me a day at the spa. Wow! First a body scrub/wrap; HEAVENLY. Next a massage, then finished with a facial. Heather did my body scrub and facial. She was incredible! Heather managed to take years off my face. Seriously! I'm using some of the same products she used during the facial at home and I'm pleased to say the results continue. The bags under my eyes are gone, and my skin is firming up, yet soft (I'm 59 yrs.). Every aspect of our day was relaxing and the Éminence products are WONDERFUL. I can't wait to return. I don't usually write yelp reviews, but based on my experience I feel the need to warn others. I came to visit recently from my hometown of Orange County. I decided to treat myself to a little massage while on vacay, this place had good reviews so thought I'd give it a go.. oh man was I wrong. When first walking in I was alarmed by the sight of this dirty spa. Dust & filth everywhere, it just felt so cluttered. Next I was so thrown off by sitting and waiting in their "relaxation room" which actually felt like a damp dungeon. I was underground with cold bricks surrounding me, the air also felt damp as they had some tacky waterfall running. Flood insurance ?! Nobody came to retrieve me either- I had to go find someone to help me. Who knows how long I would've been waiting in that claustrophobic basement . The massage itself was mediocre.. I was continually startled by distant yells from what seemed to come from the front desk from what turned out to be the owner sitting at the front desk . I just kept looking around thinking about how cheap the furnishings were.. fake shelves and Kmart art ... yuck. You're supposed to get what you pay for and I didn't pay to go to Kmart. When I was finally able to escape the massage I waited for a while before the receptionist came . As she rushed me thru the checkout she demanded that I leave a 20% tip. She was so insistent that I must leave 20% tip in her hillbilly accent. Really?! My experience did not warrant a 20% tip. I was never even asked how my services were. I will NEVER BE GOING BACK THERE. WARNING: I suspect that their eminence products might be expired. Please don't waste your hard-earned money on this sh*thole ....... read more
