I'm not entirely sure if he's the owner, but he's always there--always so pleasant and accommodating, offering tea and snacks. He truly left an impression and added extra points to my review. Unfortunately, both the service and business practices have declined significantly. This past weekend, I came with two friends who were also getting massages. We drove an hour, and it was one of their birthdays. I had completed my loyalty card, which clearly states "complete 10 visits, receive 1 free." The owner refused to honor the promotion printed on his own card, despite having honored the same offer for me many times before. He even acted as though he didn't understand English when I questioned him. Only after I made it clear I would leave a negative review did he offer a discount on one massage--which was not the free massage I had earned. A note to other customers about tipping: The owner can be very persistent about having you pay your tip upfront when you pay for the massage. Don't feel pressured to do this. If you prefer, simply be firm that you will tip the massage therapist yourself, directly, after your service. That way, you can decide the tip based on the service you actually received. The quality has also declined over the years. An advertised one-hour massage is often shortened by nearly 10 minutes, despite paying for the full hour. After more than 10 years of loyalty, this experience was extremely disappointing. Refusing to honor your own loyalty program, pressuring customers to pay tips upfront, and cutting massage time short are simply not good business practices. I've included photos of both sides of the loyalty card so customers can see the promotion for themselves. I will not be returning or recommending this business anymore.

When I entered, I saw pricing for foot bath/massage at one price (large price banner outside shop) and inside smaller price sheet listed $5 more. Umm... okay, whatever (maybe that includes tips because some people no tipping?). The shop was bigger than expected as I walked deeper/into the inner area. There were many masseurs just waiting for clients. There were some small private rooms on the left side but majority of the front room was one open space with tables (and small side curtains) diving each table for massages (seems off putting). As I walked deeper inside, my inner thought said I should have Yelp it but too late as I followed the host inside. In the very back room were chairs for foot massage. As I sat and waited, I did a quick Yelp search and was abit more reluctant. Burning hot hot hot water basin tub was given to me to soak my feet. I guess there are many dirty feet that walked in here and they want to make sure feets were clean before massage? I had to slowly ease my feet in (a delicate dance of dipping my feet in and out to prevent burns). I wish they could have ask the temp at least and then adjust as needed. As according to other reviewers, this place is not your fancy spa place. NO FRILLS, shabby place but they get the job done. At this point, I'm abit concerned but no going back now. When he finally started on the massage part, it was lovely even tho I had to keep cautioning him to be more gentle. They do very hard pressure to work out the knots.... or maybe he doesn't know his strength? I'm not into very deep/hard pressure massage so I know that I rather have it abit more gentle (traumatized by my first body massage by a Korean auntie at a Korean spa. And you know they can be rough, hence me always like my massage abit more gentler.) After requesting him to "be abit more gentle", he ease up and I was able to enjoy it more. Steady-even medium pressure massage is perfect for me. There was a customer who got seated next to me and they converse together. She also got the foot massage (it also typically comes with a shoulder/upper back massage but I wanted only the foot part). As they converse (loudly), he forgot and would ocassionally increase pressure, hence me kept repeating to be gentler. Other than that, it was a lovely experience. I think and agree with other Yelpers, if you just want simple massage and like harder/rougher pressure, this is the place for you. I can imagine them working the knots out of your back if you did a full body massage, but make sure to opt for private rooms. Some of the reviews about the open public space made me cringe as I wouldn't want my bare bottom out for strangers to view/ogle.

I understand this is common business language to get customers to return, but I can't help but express that there should be standardized techniques - what if I come back and don't like the technique of the new masseuse? Will you ask me to come back to try a third masseuse? I understand if the client asks you to focus on specific areas (to which I did not, hence the importance of a standardized technique), but how was I supposed to know while making the appointment that she was only going to spend 90 mins on my shoulders and rub oil on the rest of my body? More importantly, how do you guarantee *consistency* for customer retention?
