They always start right on time, the spa is spotless, and everyone there treats me beautifully. The massage and facial are consistently top-tier, and they never cut corners on time--if it's two hours, it's truly two hours. AMAZING!! I've been to many asian spas and none compare to the quality I get at Athena. I find that at most asian spas, you get what you pay for.. it's usually a hit or miss on the quality. But at Athena, all the masseuses are stars! They ask you your pressure preference and check in with you to ask if the pressure is okay. They are very detailed and hit all the right spots. I have knots in my traps and they usually notice and spend time working on them even if I don't mention it. After going here several times, I've never had a bad massage. Relaxing, calm, and clean environment. At ~$55 for a one hour massage, the price is amazing for the quality you get. What a great deal! The least you can do is give a good tip! Came for a Swedish massage, was on time, but the masseuse started about 10 minutes late but ended right on time, so was a little annoyed to get less than a full hour but didn't realize until she left. The building is also hot. I don't know if people generally prefer that when massaging, but it seemed more like "we don't want to run the AC" instead of intentional. The massage itself was nice and I did get to a really relaxed place where I was almost asleep. They said they only hire women there, as that's something that can make people more comfortable. Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza. One other downside was they said they only do tips in cash. When I said I didn't have much cash, they said to go to ATM next door. The other businesses next door were closed on a Sunday and also I wouldn't be thrilled to pay an additional fee. So when I said I only had $20 they were then suddenly able to charge a tip. It would be more convenient if the cash tip had been mentioned when booking the appointment or even before the session began. I think this place was okay. Pains me to write this as I'd say I'm pretty loyal customer since 2015- found them on Groupon when it was $45 for an hour massage, which they continued to honor for my visits after that. I understand 2020 was a big year for losses so the price jumped to $50 once everyone was back in business. I never had a steady masseuse but they're all very good. In my most recent visit two weeks ago, my body was filled with knots and really aching so I thought when my masseuse found the knots, she would work them out but she did not- just proceeded with decent pressure. Upon checking out, the price went up to $55 and I didn't see Athena, there was a new gentleman working the front. He had asked if I had a tip for my masseuse right in front of her (they typically give me the envelope and hand it to the ladies later) so I handed her a $10, which is a pretty damn good tip for an okay massage and this lady had the nerve to say "excuse me, it's $15 minimum for 1 hour massage" NEVER IN MY LIFEEEEE has someone told me a mandatory number for a tip. I have been to MANY, and this is the best bang for the buck at $45 for a full set of lashes (meaning she will put as many extensions as lashes that you have) with no limit as to how many like they charge you for in the city. Tina is the owner whom I absolutely adore, she's so sweet, cracks me up, and has the most adorable daughter who will be with her sometimes at the front desk. I've gotten a few standard facials here too and it's simple but the extractions are the best part, they are extremely thorough with that and to me, the most important part of a facial. I purchased a groupon for a $38 1 hour long deep tissue massage. IT WAS FABULOUS. I will be coming here at least once a month because they were so good. She did my whole body, really relaxed me. I went with my wife for a dual massage , the massage was thoroughly done, I was impressed with the vigor and strength yet they knew when to back off. I was only supposed to get a massage and then my wife suggested a facial. Completely amazed my perception of spas. I have never had a facial but now I'm addicted. I'm indifferent about this place. I got the Swedish couple massage with my boyfriend and I walked out 80% satified mostly for the nap that I took while getting the massage. We got out of the massage room and we showed her the groupon voucher that we bought an hour before we purchased it. She was super nice to us before we showed her the voucher telling us we can only use the voucher after 24 hours of purchasing it. It just doesn't make sense to me. Either way, I can't turn down a massage for $40 that takes appointments last minute. I don't think I'll be coming back. I recommend going to King Spa for massages. Honestly the only reason im leaving two stars is because despite the things i disliked, i did leave this place feeling like i just got a massage- which is the point. So i found a groupon that allowed me to get an hour swedish massage for 35$ which i admit is a fantastic price. On the outside this doesn't necessarily look like a high end place but when you walk in everything does change. Theres a beautiful small waiting area and nice relaxing music playing. It was odd, i walked in and was greeted by a small 12 year old girl sitting behind the desk in her school uniform. I suppose it isnt so weird, many people have their children help in businesses, so it didn't bother me, but was definitely a slight shock. Before my massage, I asked to use the restroom which just like the front area, was very beautiful. I came with my friend and we requested to be massaged at the same time in the same room, so we could be finished at the same time. One woman led us to the back and we were in a room, kind of a tight fit but no complaints because it was at our request. Everything seemed perfect. Heated beds, sweet calming music, great smells, but all great things come to an end. I read so many other reviews and so I'm sure it was just this particular time, unfortunately for me, that the experience was bearable and minimally enjoyable. Two women came in to the room, i noticed my friend had a towel put over her head but that was not done for me. BUT THEN, it began.... These two ladies would not stop talking. If i wanted to go somewhere and pay to have two women speak a language i didn't understand, i can do that at home for free. Turn the tv on to a channel i don't understand, and shove a heating pad under my back. It would have literally been the same thing. It was really frustrating because just as i felt my most relaxed, one of the women would pick back up and start speaking to the other. The worst part being, they were whispering. We were in a 4x4 room.... Whispering was equivalent to yelling. Aside from the non stop speaking, the women didn't ask either of us for pressure preference, and although the massage itself felt nice, it was by no means a Swedish massage. At one point i hear my friend say three times "ouch thats too hard please stop" but of course the woman giving her a massive couldn't hear her over the voice of the woman massaging me yapping away. The woman massaging me had uncut finger nails and she kept scratching me with every motion of her hands. There were just many things i didn't like and i felt the massage i got was unprofessional and done with no care. Maybe if i got a massage in a room alone it would have been more relaxing because there would be nobody for the woman to talk to. I don't know if i would ever come back, but i would consider it. On our way out, we did receive complimentary water bottles, but that's standard in all massage places. To make this place better i would definitely have the staff ask how light or hard we would like our massages, demand no speaking, have the workers cut their nails, and just to be more attentive. read more

Went here today for eyelash extensions and I LOVE how they came out!!!! It's a cozy little spa with private rooms. There was soothing music playing and they have you lie on a heated bed during the application. The girl doing my extentions was a sweetheart. I was so at ease and relaxed I actually fell asleep! They really massage every part of your body, paying special attention to any tense areas you may have. The massage itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. My best friend and I bought 2 deals for $35 massages of our choice from Groupon, but their standard prices are much higher. The masseuses didn't ask us which massage we wanted before starting. My best friend and I shared a room for a one hour massage and the two ladies massaging us were talking non-stop. They weren't that skilled. I doubt they had licenses. She would rub my left arm and forget to rub my right arm. On the bright side they gave us free water bottles when we left. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GIVE THIS SPA NOR GROUPON YOUR BUSINESS TO PURCHASE ANY SERVICES FROM THIS PLACE. I write this review as I sit in the waiting room of my doctors office after the first allergic reaction I have ever endured in my 34 years of life of every day experiences and facials. I came across their Groupon for the one hour massage and one hour facial and decided to treat myself while on a budget. I mentioned the deal to my friend who purchased it as well and we both went yesterday. We decided to get massages together and were praying that the reviews we read of the girls non stop talking weren't true. They sure weren't because they didn't say a word. Not even to ask how we prefer pressure or what not. I had to ask her a few times if she could use less pressure. Massage was okay but definitely did not relax me. Then the facials started. Tried to up-sell us but we requested what was offered with Groupon. Again, didn't talk to us, ask or inform us about what skin type we have. I will take accountability this time for not asking what they would be using as far as product, but I never had to before as the aestheticians usually know what they're using and how to use it. Once the services were completed they give you a Costco brand, room temperature water bottle and you square up. I tipped my girl $35. My friend didn't tip as graciously as I did and they had the audacity to call her out on it. Not only did it embarrass her but completely pissed her off. Maybe that was the last few dollars she had to her name. About an hour after I started to notice my eyes were swelling and turning red. My face was blemished but that's usually normal. As the night proceeded I had to take two Benadryl and went to sleep. I woke up looking like the loser of a boxing match. I had to call out of work today. I returned to the spa to see what they used on my face as I now have eyes that look like bees stung me and a face of a puberty ridden teenager. I take pride in my skin and normally never have blemishes, the girl even complimented how nice my skin was. The manager advised me she has no idea what the girl used on my skin and she was off. They called her 20 times trying to get her to answer her call. They don't keep a log of what products they used on you, but they keep a log of the amount of tip you gave them. After sitting there for 30 minutes and having a few customers question me and suggest I go to a doctor (Good idea, why didn't I think of that) the manager's resolution was for me to allow her to give me another facial on top of my injuries. Not to reimburse me or to apologize. I reached out to Groupon to file a complaint and maybe a reimbursement because they're not parting with it at the spa, so I'm sure I'm out the $100 which includes the tip I paid. Just very frustrating that you want to treat yourself and how we're all struggling to stretch a dollar in this town, but the ramifications of a discount is a mangled face, loss wages from not going to work, a doctor's visit with a co-pay and hopefully a prescription that will make me look like me again in a few days. I did a sea weed wrap for the first time. It's not 90 or 75 minutes as they advertise but, it was long enough to be wrapped up in plastic. It was definitely working. It felt tingly after I left. Deffinitley did something. They first ask you to disrobe. They give you this disposable bikini to wear. They rub sea weed cream on you shoulders to ankles. Then they wrap you with plastic and put some heat lamps on you so you sweat in there. After about 45 minutes they come and get you. You put your robe on and head to the shower where the lady lays you down on this bed and showers you off. Don't be shy they say...lol. It was all good. After going back to the room and getting dressed they give you a bottle of water and tell you to get hydrated. I felt a tingly sensation through out the day. I used to come here for over a year for lashes before I knew all information about them and how they should look. I stuck with Tina because of the quick service and cheaper price. After going to a new place I have come to realize cheaper is not always better!! Her lashes would fall off me so fast within a week or would clump up and hurt. I loved my massage, the woman (i forgot her name, sorry!) asked about pressure, made some small talk in the beginning, and all around did a lovely job. My facial was also excellent. I felt as if the woman who provided these services was personable and carefully took her time. I would definitely go back. I've had numerous appointments at Athena spa for facials and eyelash extensions. The facials have been typical. They extracted the black heads from my face and covered my face with several layers of mud masks. My face felt tingly and clean. However, the last time i went for eyelash extensions, the woman placed the eye pads beneath my eyes and i thought it was the beginning of my relaxing beauty regime. A few minutes later, A customer came in, the woman left me to go attend the new customer. I was able to overhear the conversation as she answered the other customers questions about making a future appointment. I patiently waited 20 minutes before removing the eye pads and walking out. This is not how customers should be treated. I can't and won't patronize any establishment which does not show any respect for my time and business. This has not been the first time this has happened to me here but it will definitely be my last. read more
