I absolutely fell in LOVE with this coffee shop in the city!…read more My friend and I decided that after lunch we would find a nice coffee shop to sit and enjoy the rest of our work day! We were on the hunt for a place that had a lot of seating, a good coffee menu and also sold pastries, and Otto's checked off all the boxes! I always say that when you are able to find front parking, also, you are exactly where you are meant to be, and somehow some way, we found just that! We both ended up ordering their wedding cake latte, that we later found out that changes colors based on whatever wedding they are hosting in the hotel they are located in. HOW COOL! The latte was FANTASTIC! I love when a coffee shop serves it in glass when you are deciding to sit for a bit! It felt so welcoming! I also decided to order their pound cake which was FANTASTIC! SO moist and perfect with my latte! However, the true star of the show has to be the ambiance! It's located in downtown in the Adolphus hotel and it is STUNNING inside! You truly get a city coffee shop experience at OTTO's! They had plenty of chairs and tables, as well as plugs! Which made our visit that much more great! Overall, I highly recommend it, and I will definately be back!

We came here for breakfast while staying downtown, walkable from the hotel which was a big plus. I…read morewould not recommend driving here, parking is a nightmare. Walk if you can. Coffee was decent, nothing to rave about. My cappuccino was served in a paper cup which I was not thrilled about. We were eating inside, not taking anything to go, so there was no reason for that. Paper cups influence the flavor of a hot espresso and I drink mine with no sweeteners specifically because I want to taste the actual shot. The espresso was also slightly burnt, which tells me the machine needs a good cleaning. Iced coffee is a different story but for hot cappuccinos, ceramic makes a real difference. My husband's coffee was good though and he was happy with his. Breakfast sandwiches were the toaster style, similar to what you'd expect from a place without a full kitchen. I genuinely enjoyed mine. My husband was not impressed by his. Overall it was a good enough time. We would not go out of our way to come back but if we were in the downtown area and needed a reliable spot in a pinch, we would stop in again. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not, the stars reflect that.

I visited this spot while I was in Dallas and wanted to support another Black‑owned business…read more Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype I expected. Ambiance: The setup was a bit odd from the start. Coming in from the parking lot, the signage makes it seem like you have to pay for parking, but the hostess explained it's only enforced on event days. After checking in, you're asked to wait in the patio area before being allowed into the main dining space--where you can already hear the music from outside. Once inside, the music was turned up to level 10, making it nearly impossible to enjoy a conversation with my party or even hear the wait staff clearly. Service: Despite the noise, the service itself was good. My waiter did what she could, but the volume made communication unnecessarily difficult. Food: Since they're known for their chicken and waffles, I wanted to try them and form my own opinion. Unfortunately, both the waffle and the chicken were just okay. I was hoping for more seasoning and less of that "cooked in old grease" taste. Overall: As much as I want to support this establishment, there are several changes that need to be made before I could recommend it.

We started with skinny fries and dynamite shrimp to share, both were sooo good. The tempura shrimp was perfectly battered and the sauce really set it off. The fries were perfectly seasoned too, and the dipping sauces were delicious, especially the honey mustard. For my entrée I got the lobster roll, which came with more skinny fries (yay!) My friend ordered the fish tacos, which came more wrap-style instead of traditional taco shells, but she said they were still really good. We ended with the key lime pie and it was so good I had to order a second one to go and enjoy at home. 10/10

Unfortunately, the salad was extremely salty--so much so that it was difficult to enjoy. I'm not sure if it was the dressing or seasoning, but it was definitely overwhelming. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. Jacob, our server, was great--attentive, friendly, and professional. Management was also very responsive when I mentioned the issue with my salad. The manager personally brought out additional fresh lettuce to help correct it, which I genuinely appreciated. Even though the salad missed the mark this visit, the way Jacob and management handled everything made a difference. Great customer service goes a long way with me, and because of that, I'm willing to come back and give Hudson House another try. Hopefully, next time the food matches the level of service!
