He sat me down and started working on me for my fill, and halfway through working on me he switched me to another person. I paid about $45 plus $10 tip for these and I feel just meh about it. The overall atmosphere of the place looks clean but no one else talked at all when I was there and it didn't seem like any of the employees were super thrilled to be there. If you need just a quick fill, this place is fine but don't expect anything extra like a hand massage or towels. He just put cuticle oil on me and called it good. I've been going to this nail salon for awhile now. It's a small place with a warm vibe and…read morefriendly staff. However, I've run into a recurring issue with my current nail technician, Mia. She spends nearly an hour meticulously applying powder, shaping, buffing, and adding lacquer, but refuses to let my nails cure under the light lamp for more than 60 seconds. As a result, the lacquer starts peeling within a day or two. The ONLY time this doesn't happen is when Mia gets distracted, and I sneak extra time under the lamp--then the lacquer lasts 2-3 weeks! This issue persists whether she uses my own lacquer or the salon's. I typically get one layer, but last time, Mia insisted the peeling was due to using just one layer. So, I let her apply two layers, which made things worse. The thicker coating needed even more curing time, but she still limited it to 60 seconds, pulling the lamp away and saying, "That's enough." By the time I got home, the lacquer was already peeling! The acrylic base holds up for up to 3 weeks, but it's pointless if the lacquer doesn't last 3 days! I came in around 2 PM, and the salon was not busy, yet I still had to wait about 15 minutes. During that time, they kept trying to upsell me on nails and extra services multiple times. I understand it's a business tactic, but after a while it becomes frustrating and pushy. When I finally got taken back, the eyebrow wax was done poorly. There was still so much stray hair left around my brows, which completely defeats the purpose of getting them waxed in the first place. To make matters worse, I had a birthday coupon for $10 off any service, and they initially tried to tell me I couldn't use it. After going back and forth, they finally accepted it, but the whole situation was unnecessary and uncomfortable. Despite the poor service, I was still planning to leave a tip, but the technician turned her back and walked away before I even had the chance. What makes this even more frustrating is that they act like they are the best nail salon in Woodhaven, yet when you look up lists of top nail salons in the area, their name does not consistently stand out the way they seem to claim. There are several other salons in Woodhaven that are more prominently listed alongside or above them in local directories.
