Got a mani/pedi here. Went with a friend and her daughter and we were split up in separate "pedicure rooms" so couldn't even talk to each other. The nail tech was not super friendly and DID NOT WEAR GLOVES. Not to mention the bag in my pedicure tank ripped and was not changed. She was touching so many things then my toes. My polish is super streaky on my toes. Then when she did my fingers she gave me attitude for wanting regular polish, not gel. I prefer to do my own nails and pick at gel polish which ruins my nails, so I only use regular polish. The whole time she kept wiping her runny nose, which again she did not wear gloves. They either like you or they don't. The hairdressers there do an amazing job. However, once they decide they don't like you they will cancel your appointments and suddenly be unavailable. Fell in love with a hair stylist who did my hair regularly for 3 years and suddenly decided for whatever reason to continuously cancel our appointments the day before. Not sure if it was a case of mixing me up with another patron or what the case was. The ladies at the desk would schedule me, and the day before my appointment they'd have to call because the stylist canceled. I tipped very well and never complained so not sure without confronting her what happened. I gave up and went elsewhere after seven cancellations. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences in customer service (not just nails) I've ever experienced. The attitude started when Mykell (the nail tech) had to call my name twice to find me, above the noise of a Saturday salon. She proceeded to complain about her client asking to come back after her shellac started to peel, saying it was the client's fault for checking her cell phone during her manicure. When she asked how I like my nails shaped, she made a snotty comment (square with rounded corners - nothing wild). She spent most of the time talking to the tech behind her, never asking about me or the "standard" questions - what do you do, kids, etc. building no rapport with me at all. She then saw her next client coming in and proceeded to talk garbage about them, their dress (they were dressed too nicely, which she then insinuated they would be stuck up), she continued to assume they would be rude to the other nail tech because she has an accent, and commented sarcastically, "Oh, I'm sure they will be SO much fun!". Makes me wonder how she spoke of me when I came in or left! My shellac manicure ended with me asking if I could use some of her hand lotion and applying it myself - HUH? I've NEVER had a manicure without the tech applying hand cream or lotion at the end. I have tried this place maybe 2 other times in the past when my normal nail tech (elsewhere) gets sick, but next time, I'll just go without. read more

Precision, precision, precision. The pedicures here are perfect and they take a lot of pride in their work here. The owner runs a tight ship and the work shows it. They offer quality service every time. I joined their mailing list and they periodically have some really nice specials, which is great when you are a bargain following salon hopper like me. VIP is awesome for a solid pedicure or manicure experience. They have a ton of techs on hand so you can get in no problem and a wide variety of price ranges from basic to deluxe, I really like that. Plus, they have great pedicure chairs and even neck wraps yay. They offer european and organic facials, a variety of body treatments (wraps, scrubs, detoxes) and a whole list of massages too. So far though I am just a pedicure girl. It is a hike from my house or I would be here more often, I usually only stop in if I have something else in the area. I absolutely LOVE this salon! Here is why: 1. Sherry is one of the best hair stylists I have ever been to! (She is really good with highlights and she knows how to "trim" hair when you want to grow it out). Plus, she is super friendly. I mean, I fly in from San Francisco, California for her. Enough said. 2. I've had my hair done in an up-do for a wedding, Loved it. 3. I've had my nails done there & no one talks about me in another language with another nail tech across the room. They pay attention to you :) 4. They use Moroccan Oil products in the salon. 5. The staff at the front desk are always friendly & helpful. They also do make-up and massages here. And, they provide coffee, tea, or water for free. I'm having my wedding party of 10 get their hair done here next summer. Here is one last tip: Bring cash for tips, you can't add it to your credit card when you pay. If you forget to bring Ca$h with you, there is an ATM inside the salon. read more

Being a pedicure virgin - (who would have thought??), I made an appointment with a friend. I can't say I was honestly looking forward to this, but I gamely showed up. What struck me first was that all the nail techs were right there smack in the face when you walked in, along with the acrylic smell...... But the receptionist was very friendly. We had a private room and let me tell ya, the chair alone was worth the $40! I was a mass of limp noodles 10 minutes into the visit. My poor neglected tootsies jumped for joy at the warm foot spa. Next came a wonderful foot massage and all the normal pedicure treatments, finished off with a mini-leg rub and moisterizing..... Rachel was WONDERFUL and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!!! This is the only place I can go to get my eyebrows waxed. I've had my eyebrows waxed since I was around 13 or 14 years old, and let me tell you, I've hated the turnout more times than once. I'm always very specific with what I want--defined arch, not too thin, not too much off the sides--and until I found VIP, I'd always walk out of the salon with eyebrows that were too thin and too short. I hated it. I've never had a bad experience at VIP. They always look exactly the way I want. The girls who work here know what they're doing and they're knowledgable. I've tried to find other places because it's a tad pricier here than other places I've gone to in the past, but I don't mind paying an extra 4 dollars for great looking brows. I've also gotten my hair done here many times and have had no complaints. :) Bottom line, they only hire well-trained people here at VIP. So I go there to get highlights and I was told she wouldn't work on my hair because it was dead even though I've only gotten highlights once and dyed my hair back brown half a year ago. I tried telling her that I have naturally curly hair so my hair is very coarse when it's straight but she didn't listen and tried telling me to come back every week for a month for hair masks when I do that once a week at home. I'm very disappointed with this. I went to three other salons that are aveda brand and had a hair consultant and every other salon said my hair is perfectly fine to get highlights and it's only coarse because of my curls. Owner, Renee, is a wonderfully savvy and classy business woman. I have had several wonderful experiences at VIP including a half a day of services with a friend before a trip, a small birthday pedi-party with a friend, and they were fantastic with the request in ordering food and wine to give the experience that extra special touch. I scheduled an appointment here after a dreadful experience at Pure NV Salon in Taylor (head over to their page for my review). As soon as I walked in everyone was extremely friendly and had great personalities. My stylist, Sam, was available right away and took me right back. I came in because I had long hair that was cut the day before by the long-lost sister of Edward Scissorhands (who hasn't yet figured out how to use them) and resulted in my hair being about an inch shorter on one side than the other, as well as chunked out layers that went all the way to my shoulders. Sam told me several different options, and I ended up going for an inverted bob style at shoulder length. I wanted to cry because I was cutting off about 8 inches of hair, but figured might as well go for something new if I was going to have to make a big change anyway. I absolutely love my hair. Sam did an excellent job, and even showed me several different easy ways to style it since she knew I hadn't had short hair in years. It's rare for me to go into a salon and leave absolutely LOVING the results because I am a picky brat and stylists never seem to understand what I want. However, this place is perfect. Everyone was super nice and my hair turned out EXACTLY how I wanted. She didn't take long at all either, which was nice. Aside from the great style and customer service, they have one of the best selections of products as well. One of my favorite products for my hair is Moroccan Oil, and there are only about 5 places in southeast Michigan that sell it. VIP has the whole line of products, along with a huge selection of other brands. They even have jewelry, purses and flip flops available for purchase which I thought was a fun addition. Had my hair done here for 2-3 years. Very nice in the beginning and always professional . However in the past six months the atmosphere has not been the same. I do not ask for special treatment but I expect to be treated as special. I tip very well and I do not appreciate being hurried out of the salon. Also, the gal who had been doing my hair became very lackadaisical about covering my roots. The end was when my "touch up" lasted 5 days. I then went to a different salon where the gal asked if I had let my hair go a little longer than usual (like 32-34 days). I told her it had been 9 days! Also, you really need to get some decent help when it comes to washing the customer's hair. These ladies do not like to dig in and wash your hair or get underneath in the back. If you want to protect your manicure then don't do the job of washing hair. Useless. Needless to say I am now going elsewhere. I actually saved $20.00 this last time for the same services--except the people at this new salon actually did a thorough and great job. read more

I first want to start off by saying that this salon is very clean and the employees are very friendly. I had my eyebrows waxed here and they were perfect. However, a couple of days later, I got my nails done. (A full set of acrylics, to be exact.) I did not like the way they looked. You could see bubbles underneath the acrylic and they were unusually thick. The nail tech also did not clean up my cuticles, like they're description says they do. It was $50 for a mediocre nail job. I think that is VERY overpriced. I got red tips to my french manicured acrylics and the paint was not very clean looking or straight. My sister also got her natural nails done with shellac and mentioned the same thing about the bubbles underneath. I was not impressed read more

Too expensive. I had a partial highlight on my hair today. The girl did a good job, and the cost of the highlight was what I expected ($70). However they charged me $25 to "style" my hair, which was actually just a blow dry. I'm sorry but that's crazy. You have to dry your hair after a highlight to see the color. I'm not going to go home and realize my hair turned green. They should dry your hair when they color your hair, but if they don't want to, they should at least have an area where you can dry it yourself. I don't think they can though because they have already crammed too many stations in such a small place. It was crowded and chaotic. I won't be back. Other places are not like this. I've been highlighting my hair for 15 years, and I can't remember ever being charged to dry my hair. read more

I left a review about my negative experience here but the owner called to remedy the situation! Both reviews are below!! Unfortunately this place does not line up with it's name. I was not treated like a VIP today. I had a simple hair trim appointment for my ten year old daughter. After waiting for 20 minutes the stylist let us know that she would be an additional 30 minutes behind due to a color correction. I had my week old infant with me so I left. On the way out the manager apologized and offered to reschedule for another day but did not offer any incentive, gift card, or gesture to make me feel cared for - she didn't offer any alternative option for that either. We will not be back. Since this incident I received a call from the owner apologizing for everything and asking to please return because she would make it right. She took the time to explain their current nightmare of a situation with their computers and that particular day everything falling apart! We went back, my daughter received a beautiful cut for free and was even treated to a birthday gift as it was her birthday. Thank you for making it right VIP salon! read more

Everyone at VIP is friendly and try to make your time there a pressure. Ive had a few services here and I wish I could give them five stars but... I had a Deep Tissue massage and was VERY disappointed. The lady who gave me my massage was very friendly but she was an older woman who is small in stature. She just isn t strong enough to give a deep tissue massage. It felt more like a Swedish massage. Im a woman who works a VERY physical job. When I get the chance to splurge and do something for myself this is what I like to do. I want somebody who is able to dig into my muscles and release the tension and soreness; and for the entire massage, not dig in for 10 minutes and then do soft strokes for 10 minutes while they rest. I had a facial that i Loved! No complaints I had the Microdermabrasion / Photofacial - I liked the tech, she was wonderful! I enjoyed the microdermabrasion but as far as the Photofacial...I thought that was a IPL and it wasn t. I still don t know what they meant by Photofacial unless it was the cream they put on after? I felt they misrepresented this one. All in All, I will go back to VIP but not for a Deep Tissue Massage. read more
