Just finished a major remodel of our kitchen, as well as a remodel of our master bath and the building of an attached walk in closet. Simon (the owner and general contractor) Jorge (the amazingly talented in house designer) and their supporting team of long term workers (like Misha, Tigran and Ken) made the construction process a wonderful experience. Everyone involved spent hours listening to what we wanted and offering suggestions on what to do to accomplish our goals and to stay within our budget. Jorge helped throughout with everything from color schemes and design, to meeting us at the various stores to select/approve everything from flooring and countertops to appliances and hardware. The end results are amazing and makes us smile everyday. The quality of the work was first class. Professional, responsive, helpful, honest, detail oriented and all around nice people. We have used other contractors through the years, but Designer Kitchen was far and away the best overall experience. We were sad when the jobs were finished as it felt like old friends or family were moving away. Without a doubt we'll hire them again if we have any construction needs in the future. read more

Very interesting response from Simon N. I had a full agreement for the cabinets and the work, and then as the cabinets were about to arrive they called me in to their office again "to go over a few details", which I found very odd since we were all set with the work. They were suddenly trying to renegotiate the rate for the work. But none of the parameters or scope of the work had changed. They suddenly wanted to double the cost of labor. Of course then, I was furious, so I immediately cancelled the work part of the order and upset that I had to find new workers to do the job when the cabinets were about to arrive. I had gone to them because they were able to give me the cabinets I wanted and I thought they would do a good job. Why would I want to have to shop around for other workers when I wanted my kitchen install to be smooth and seamless? That makes no sense. I see that this is part of their game, where they have you thinking you are all signed off on everything and then call you in to talk about some new things to discuss. If they do this with you, and you read this ahead of time, don't say that I didn't warn you. I did not expect this treatment from what I thought looked like an upscale establishment. Sorry Simon, your excuses here just don't add up. You probably don't remember me as clearly as I'm one of your hundreds of customers from long ago. However I clearly remember your game and the fact that I felt a need to photocopy the paperwork from the guy who came to my house to give me the quote. I had a very odd feeling about the quote he gave me because he was writing certain things in pencil and other parts in pen. Very fishy practices and now instead of just apologizing for your pricing game, you are trying to say that I only WANTED to buy the cabinets from you, instead of being FORCED to look for new workers at a standard and fair price. We had agreed to what I thought was a fair price and then when I was called into your store as the cabinets were about to arrive, you were saying the cost would be almost double what my original bid from you had been. read more

In addition, they protected our downstairs area from dust and were watchful of our pet needs in the process (we have indoor cats). Really bad experience. They estimated 2 months to remodel my kitchen and took almost 4 months. The divider wall they made was not straight, tiles were not installed as per my request (diagonal pattern), they scratched the brand new stove and did not assume responsibility. Then I got a water leak in the brand new pipes they installed inside the walls. They said it was not covered under warranty. I had to pay $2,500 to another contractor to open up the walls and fix the leak. Worst contractor ever! read more

Worst customer service ever!!! I do not recommend at all. Usually I don't blow up at a business. It takes a lot for me to leave someone a bad review. I just called them for the 1st time to make a rather large order. I had part numbers and everything picked out. I was in need of their services. After the 2nd ring a lady picked up. I told her my name and asked how she was doing.. She answers with "busy..." . I countered with a slight joke... "Well at least it's almost Friday!" I told her. Immediately in a frustrating manner she said she is very busy and had two calls waiting on the other line and said very abruptly what do you need... Mickey mouse. SO MANY PROBLEMS! I hesitated to write a review, but I feel buyers should be aware. Designer Kitchens remodeled my kitchen many years ago and did a decent job. Then last year I hired them to do my medium size master bath. It took 9 months. On every level it was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE that no one should have to endure. I have dozens of emails, texts and photos documenting the process- Lack of proper and timely prep or communication, failure to show up for weeks at a time, misrepresenting and lying about things. Virtually everyone in the project screwed up time and time again -not checking their work; saying they would fix it and of course each time they touched anything, it would only get worse. They rarely showed any sign of caring about their work. Many things were "jerry-rigged", made up as they went along. Mickey mouse. $60,000 for a straightforward remodel. I almost pulled them off the project and threatened to file complaints. I can't believe it was the same company that did my kitchen. read more

They do beautiful work and they are by most patient and sweetest people you ever want to work with. I am very difficult, and if you can please me then you must be doing something right. This designer kitchens is owned by a man named Shimon and he always takes perfect care of his clients. He gives a professional written proposal and always sticks to his word. He would never write a proposal in pencil. So if I were shopping this company I would not pay attention to the other reviews. You can see the more reviews in "filtered reviews" and then you will know how good Designer Kitchens are. They have a fantastic designer by the name of Jorge. He will give you great ideas ad help you design the kitchen or bathroom of your dreams. Shai after a year and a half has yet to finish the work for which we paid. And as of today he has said he will not finish and will not work with me as I am pregnant and irrational. Yet I am on the contract and he keeps asking for money. He does not follow up to make sure containers are shipped on time. He does not ensure that all necessary materials and parts are in said container. This extends the delviery time and requires numerous shipments which further extend delivery time. He does not follow up on anything and can go missing for months at a time and not answer phoen or email messages. Shai does not measure properly. We had to lower our cabinets an inch to compensate for this. He then inform me that I was to get rid of my sofetts (impossible as wiring and piping run through them). And this is after he tells me that the sofetts were not there (yes they were as per photos of when we purchased the home). He has also told me that my measuring tape is off yet cannot explain why his is off too when we measured the freezer versus fridge and the cabinets are different sizes while the appliances are the same size. We had to pay our granite guy to further compensate in other areas for Shai's incorrect measurements. The installer causes damage to the cabinets, does such a poor job that he needs to return again and again, and does not finish his work. The quality of the Pedini product is not first rate. Panels are not finished, veneer is not correct, hinges fall off, doors and drawers do no close properly, and it is just a poor quality product that Shai orders that is not typical of Pedini. All in all it is one lie after another after another. DO NOT USE THEM! SAVE YOURSELF MY AGGRAVATION!!!! read more

In 2013, based on the strength of its bathroom design plan, we selected Designer Kitchens - and, true to form, Jorge, the company's designer was utterly brilliant. He was creative, engaged and supportive throughout our remodel. We can't recommend him highly enough. If only the rest of the experience had been as professional as the design phase. Let's just say the delays in the job - which were so substantial we felt compelled to withhold the final payment - weren't the half of it. Let's see; among other things: o Toilet placement was too high by several crucial inches o The DK crew had to re-do the (costly Porcelanosa) tile around the toilet after someone forgot to allow room for the wall-mounted flush mechanism o The pebble treatment in the shower obstructs the drain, making it impossible to remove the grate in the event of plumbing issue o And the custom bamboo vanity very nearly collapsed. About that last point: sometimes, it takes awhile for problems to surface. This latest one took about two years to show itself, but it was a doozy. Several weeks ago, we realized that DK's floating vanity was separating from the wall. Turns out that it was never installed properly and was on the verge of literally falling off, taking with it the plumbing and very likely flooding the second floor of our architectural house in the Hollywood Hills. The workers we hired this past January bolted the vanity to the wall, secured the pipes and added legs to the cabinet, thankfully averting disaster. It's telling that as we parted company with DK over that last payment, the company advised us that, should any problems arise, none of the work would be warranted. Good thing we held back; these recent repairs cost a bit - though not nearly as much as we would have spent had DK's shoddy work gone unaddressed. Caveat emptor, folks. read more

I had Simon and the crew from Designer Kitchens do my kitchen in Hancock Park and Dining room they they laid out the kitchen, ordered the cabinets from Italy (of course I had to wait while they came from Italy) and then they were installed perfectly to my complete satisfaction, Ken has been out to my place a couple times for adjustments and minor repairs, all with no additional charge for me. My kitchen won an award for best overall design and layout in a major architecture magazine (even if I never used an architect, Ken did the whole job) my kitchen has been used for several movie shoots, because the studios love my location across the street from Paramount Pictures, I would recommend them HIGHLY for their professionalism, service, pricing and honesty. I am now doing a new home in Atwater Village and I will be calling them again when I get to the kitchen. read more

I'm an avid Yelp user and was referred to Designer Kitchens by past customers who were thrilled with Simon, the company owner and General Contractor. We interviewed 7 General Contractors and made a massive spreadsheet to compare the quotes from all 7. Simon came in right in the middle but more importantly than that he's a trustworthy, upstanding person you can rely on. My husband and I expected the best and we got it. Simon is incredibly professional, detail oriented, helpful and goes above and beyond. We've been working on our full home renovation for 6 months. Simon guided us through the process, helped us deal with our shady architect and structural engineer, caught mistakes and helped us through the city permit process. About halfway through the process we decided to hire Jorge, Simon's in-house designer. Jorge is incredible. He listened to our vision and guided us to make sure everything would come out just right. If it wasn't for Simon and Jorge I don't know how I would have made it through this house process since it sucks up so much time and energy. I will only use Simon and Jorge for any construction and design needs. I look forward to our next job because it was truly a pleasure. They became part of our family. Were installed poorly and they do not hold their contractors accountable. If I had the energy I'd take them to court. But I will follow up with the BBB. Use a different material. They have terrible customer service response. I have made repeated calls. I was initially told my Astra Hinges in the cabinets have a lifetime warranty. Now I am told By Shimon that the lifetime ends when they no longer work! No effort to replace even for the cost of new hinges. No followup. Over time I have noticed the poor quality of workmanship. Panel colors dont match, Lower end material. Better to use a custom cabinet shop locally for better installation and control and timeline. I will pay a professional to do the work! read more

We decided to remodel our 1930's Spanish style home. I looked on Houzz and Pinterest and had plans drawn to meet all of our needs. I had a few bids but one day while walking to the landmark theater I stopped by Designer Kitchens. I met Jorge, their designer and he immediately understood the design of my home and understood my desire to keep the original design integrity while updating the home with modern conveniences and larger closets. The next day he came to our home, reviewed our plans and made some changes that would better utilize our space and create additional storage. When I met with the owner and general contractor Simon the deal was sealed. He gave us a written quote and a time estimate.
