I want to say Design Time and Tile is a wonderful place to buy Flooring. This company did flooring in 2 of my homes. I would like to say that Leslie O. Her review is questionable. I know that it was me that took Nancy T. To 3 different flooring places in the Redding area. I was with Nancy T. When the sales people helped us. We looked at many floors. We were there on two different occasions. Nancy was very happy about the flooring she picked out. I was also there at Nancy's home when the 2 men came and installed her flooring. I could see Nancy had very large deep cracks in her cement floor after the carpet was removed. The men spent a few days repairing her floors then putting down moisture barrier down on the floor, I ask the installer what he was doing and he explained it to me. All the people, in the store and the installers were very nice and respectful. I will always go back to Design Time and Tile to have my flooring bought and installed there. I cannot say enough about how amazing it was working with Kevin at Design Time & Tile. I was remodeling and needed both quartzite slabs and tile, and honestly, I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Kevin spent literal hours helping me choose tiles that coordinated beautifully and fit the overall design. I made my tile selections late in the process and wasn't sure they'd even arrive in time--but somehow, he managed to get everything in record time. The pricing was more than fair, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Finding the perfect Taj Mahal quartzite slabs turned into a bit of an adventure, and through it all, Kevin was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind--not to mention fun to work with. DO NOT USE DESIGN TIME Design Time installed my floor, Design Time hired DJ a flooring contractor to install the floor, DJ and his crew did an extremely poor job my installing the molding on my stairs it fell apart immediately after he left. DJ also left behind a large pile of garbage on my front driveway for me to clean up. DJ and his crew also used my driveway as an ashtray and left cigarette butts for me to clean up. All my DEWALT tools also disappeared when DJ left. When I called my salesman John Barns to let him know of the poor quality of the workmanship and the missing tools. He brushed me off and DID NOT CARE. No one cared about my issues until I left a negative Yelp review. Design Times IT Guy called and was only concerned about the negate yelp review. John Barns sent me a typed note (he could not be bothered to write it in his own handwriting) with 2 logan steak gift cards as an apology for their poor workmanship and customer service, After paying Design Time, I am suck with the cleanup and finishing the job properly and replacing about $500 worth of name brand tools. I will start by saying the quality of this product is nice and the prices are decent. What has left me with a sour taste in my mouth was the customer service from the owner... Ron was our first sales rep he came over and took measurements of our entry way, hallway and bathroom which were the areas we were putting new flooring in. After the install we were confused how we ended up with SIX (almost 7- we used one plank out of the 7th box) extra boxes and two end caps. My installer believes he meant to order a "stair nose" and not the extra room dividers. The sales rep did not return my phone call to clear that up so I'm just assuming and the owner would not return/exchange out the item (see attached photo). I called the owner to voice my frustration as each box of flooring was roughly $80. She was extremely rude to me and pointed out the customer is responsible for extra material. If we ended up with an extra box or two it wouldn't be a big deal but six boxes is unacceptable in my opinion. Long story short she ended up returning the flooring (with a bit of a fight) but she refused to refund the end caps. We paid $100 extra for no reason basically. Had she been a little nicer I wouldn't have posted this review as a 2-star but working with a local small business instead of Home Depot the customer service should have been better. Next time I'll do measurements by myself and order direct from the company. I will not be returning when we decide to remodel our kitchen. If you decide to do business with them I would ask questions about left over materials and do a few different measurements. read more

Would give negative stars if i could. To start, its actually shocking that Costco would endorse a company that operates like Design Time. The communication is spotty, at best, and once they have their fees the won't care about the quality of their work! The contractors that came did not care about damage that they caused to our home or to our baseboards (that we painted and labeled for them then they scuffed completely), they put a dent in a fridge, didn't bother sweeping after the install so we came home to a dusty disaster and now two years later we have boards pulling up in multiple places. Some boards were so bad that the vinyl was peeling away from the board. After attempting to fix the problem twice, once leaving footprints and glue ALL over the house that we spent hours removing, they STILL have yet to fix the issue. They just expect to do spotty band-aid jobs when the entire flooring needs to be replaced. After our third complaint the OWNER told us that its our fault and we need to have our house looked at first. (Because there is a crack in the foundation that has been there PRIOR to us signing any contracts, it was built in the 90's it happens). The contractors failed to install a moisture barrier that the manufacturer had instructed them to do so. But of course, since they can't make any more money off of us it's now OUR problem. So Sylvia, if our house has so many issues why did you take our money to begin with?? read more

Shopped all over town just to see what was out there, Peter Hurst at Design Time had the Mohawk Laminate I was looking for and at a great price. I even considered installing it myself after many you tube videos, I'm glad Design Time and Peter had Kyle install it 408-806-1638, he is meticulous and its amazing the timeframe. I recently needed a houseful of carpet for a former rental I was moving into. I checked several carpet dealers in the Redding area, and Design Time was far superior in terms of both product quality and price. Kevin was the representative I worked with at Design Time. Did I mention that the house smelled overwhelmingly of cat and dog urine? When I was ready for installation, Design Time's installer removed the old carpet and pad, and lo and behold the upper particle board layer of the subfloor was saturated with pet urine in spots. Although the carpet installation was scheduled for the next day, Kevin agreed to delay the installation to give me time to deal with the problem, and we re-scheduled for the next week. After a week of applying products to kill the smell, it was still there. Kevin was very understanding and we deferred the installation one more time. I then replaced some of the particle board, applied Original Kilz paint in other spots, and got rid of the stink. The installer (Mick) then came back and installed the new pad and carpet. He did a great job, and now the house looks (and smells) terrific! Kevin, thank you for working with me the way you did to get the problem solved. I don't think many companies would have gone the extra mile that Design Time did... I highly recommend them. read more

This place laid LVT flooring in my apt. And so far it has been a disaster. They have been back at least 6 times to replace some of the floor lifting up. Which they blame on using the wrong glue. Now about a year later I have more flooring lifting at the seams. I was told About 2 months ago. They would have no problem replacing the lifting floor planks. But still no results. I'm still waiting for the floor to be fixed. I am disabled and use a walker because I have a hard time walking. But Design Time don't care about people. read more

We dealt with Peter Hurst there and he took an amazing amount of time with us selecting carpeting, flooring, countertop laminate, and tile backsplash than we could have imagined! He showed us why our wanting commercial carpet was not the best and gave us better choices on carpet and padding which turned out to be luxurious to walk on and beautiful to the eye! We also upgraded the kitchen and dining vinyl flooring, and again had a wide selection of styles and quality from which to choose. There are plenty of samples which we used to take outside to see the colors in the sunlight. I even got down on the hard floor with a carpet and padding sample to see how they felt together when on my knees! The installers did a great job as well. read more

I decided to go through Costco for the installation of 1260 sq. ft. of Shaw vinyl flooring in my home and was referred by them to Design Time to do the work. The original work order (contract?) drawn up by Design Time was a hodgepodge of errors. A $680 "discount" was added to the total cost of the job instead of being deducted. I was charged $832 for the removal and replacement of 410' of baseboard when there was only 250' involved. When the job was 40% done the installers requested leaving the remaining baseboard intact and finishing the job with quarter-round toe molding. When I agreed, I was required to purchase the 250' of quarter-round for an additional $170. My request for a refund of a portion of the $832 I had paid for work not done was denied. The original work order called for $2,128 for demo of existing wood flooring. Halfway through the job Design Time determined that the demo job was more difficult than they had anticipated and charged me an additional $500 for labor. I was also presented with a bill for $400 rental on a machine used to aid in the demo work. The machine was owned by Design Time and I had to rent it from them so they could use it to complete the job that I had already paid them for! The original quote for the job of $17,491 ended up costing me $18,561. Costco offers a 15% cash card rebate on the total cost of the job but none of the extra fees I paid seem to have made it to Costco to be included in that rebate. Buyer beware! read more

Purchased slab from them, and paid in full..Salesperson wrote it up as Prefab ..so of course that wouldn't work for my kitchen. They had to re order at that expense since HE made the error. I honestly believe they called their supplier and said give us seconds or the cheapest slabs you can find. They were horrendous and Mike and Sylvia would not stand behind their product. Mike even paid a visit to my home to view and agreed they werebad. DT &T kept saying fabricator should have noticed and not installed. I PAID THEM for the product not the fabricator..They should have some kind of QC in place before they release THEIR product ..Totally disappointed and they could honestly care less. Good news is my fabricator replaced it at his cost because he was truly sorry the way these people were treating me..Never again will I enter their establishment or recommend them to ANYONE read more

I thought I was making a good choice by working with Design Time and Tile, especially since they were awarded Best of The Northstate. Boy, was I wrong. The service and help was spot on when they wanted to get your business, you would get calls back within minutes. However, after installation (which was hap-hazard and sloppy) no one wants to return your calls to get it fixed. Don't get me wrong, the products they carry are high quality and that part I am pleased with, its the lack of effort that goes into your installation. TERRIBLE. After the first day they installed the baseboards and left, you could stick a quarter between them and the wall. I had that fixed the following day, luckily. They left cut marks on the baseboards without filling and painting them, the corners don't match up, and the paint job is so sloppy, they even managed to paint a nice coat all over my driveway in the process. After TWO weeks of unreturned messages to my salesman, I finally had to call the manager to get someone out here to work on this. When they showed up, they went to painting the baseboards with no drop cover or painters tape.... on my NEW $10K flooring job. I will never recommend this company or do business with them again. Its such a shame that this is the service I paid top dollar for! read more

My flooring installation was guaranteed by the salesman, Jim, to be a 3 day job. It was completed 46 days after it was started. The beginning day of installation was postponed once by me and 2 times by Design Time. Not an issue because once they began it would take a maximum of three days from start to finish. They started the job on July 31st 2017. Design time promised installation would be completed by August 2nd. I was returning to my teaching job in a neighboring county August 3rd. On August 1st I asked the workers what time they would be finishing the following day. They laughed and told me I'd be lucky if they were done by August 3rd, it would probably be complete on August 4th. Not good news. Sure enough job was not complete on August 2nd as promised. The morning of August 3rd I received a call from the lead installer letting me know that the baseboards that design time had painted and delivered to my home two weeks prior, were all stuck together. Not a single piece was salvageable. The installer told me that when the boards were painted they were not allowed to dry or cure long enough. He informed me he had had this same issue on a design time installation before. Yet, Design time failed to check the baseboards until the day of install. The installers ended up leaving my house with a gallon of paint I had purchased to paint my interior doors and door frames. The call from the salesman did not happen that afternoon as promised. Instead the salesman called me the following day while I was back at work teaching. It took Design time a month to paint a new set of baseboards and make an opening in their schedule to finish the install. In the meantime 95% of my furniture was packed in the garage and on the outdoor back patio. The baseboard installation date was set. I received a voicemail from the salesman 2 days prior to the set date. I had already scheduled the later date as a day off so I could supervise the installation. I couldn't take off the earlier date so I left my house unlocked for the installers. I came home to a mess in the house and baseboards throughout my house with up to 1/4 inch visible gaps between the walls and baseboards and nail holes not patched. After consulting with a contractor and a carpenter I called Design time yet again to ask why they had neglected to apply caulk to the gaps and also where corners met. For a job quoted at over $14,500.00 dollars and over 30 days behind schedule I expected more. By this time I had already made a formal complaint to Costco. When the salesman called me back he seemed surprised that I wanted the gaps caulked. After he spoke to the lead installer the salesman told me that they hadn't caulked anything because 2 of my 8 rooms had darker wall paint and they were concerned, "The caulking would make my painted walls bleed." The walls had been painted 4 years ago. Design time said their lead installer would come back in a week to caulk my baseboards. At this time the salesman told me I had to pay with a credit card. Before I'd singed the contract he had said I could pay with cash or check. Now I had a week to obtain a credit card with a $15,000.00 dollar limit. I contacted Costco again to ask for help in getting the job done and arranging payment (Design Time is a Costco vendor and their salesman had approached me from a booth within the chico Costco). I became aware of two previous complaints against Design time and given the number for Costco corporate in Washington State. Bad experience with Costco corporate, my husband and I both spoke to them. And an even worse experience with Design Time. I paid a total of $14,511.00 to Design Time for a less than 1, 400 square foot laminate install. I would not recommend this company for flooring installation. read more

My husband and I had the WORST experience with this business. We are in the process of a remodel that involves new carpet, flooring and tile. We went in on the recommendation of our contractor and was helped by Bob K. He seemed interested and looked at the plans and we picked out all the things we liked. He promised he would have an email the next day with detals and prices....no email. My husband called and he seemed to "forget" who we were and what we wanted. We gave him the benefit of the doubt, only to find out weeks later he has done nothing...and doesnt remember what he was suppose to do...We are finished with them...POOR customer service. We went through Costco on line and immediately, we were contacted by Kevin. He offered to bring samples to our home or we could go into the store. We chose to go into the store and made an appointment to meet. He is extremely patient and showed us all of our options. We took samples home. They have a huge selection. We made another appointment and took more samples home. Kevin was never pushy. He gave us various options and always found out answers to our questions if he did not know. We love our new floors and highly recommend Kevin, even if you are not going through Costco but the rebates and rewards were great! read more

I contacted Design Time and Tile through Costco services. After a couple of weeks, I got no response. After recontacting Costco, I got a call from one of their salesmans. Later after my flooring was installed, I had chosen another pad to be installed instead of the padding they recommended. I asked for an adjustment since I paid the installer directly. After several calls to both the salesman, the store manager and costco, I finally received my payment about two months after the job was completed. The store manager never returned my call. As I see it, they are very interested in selling you the product, but there is no followup on the issues. Not sure it was worth going through Costco or dealing with Design Time and Tile after all I had to do after. read more

We bought granite for our two new bathroom vanities from Design Time and Tile and it looks beautiful! Mike Zearly helped us and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He showed us many pretty choices in different materials. He showed us higher & lower cost choices for the changes we wanted to make. He let us know what the estimated costs would be for having our granite prepared and placed. This was immensely helpful to us. Mike also helped with tile choices for our master shower. Jack at Design Time in Redding, CA representing Costco carpet sales came to our home in Paradise, CA with samples and information. Jack knew the carpet business.! Jack measured the areas we wanted for new carpet and gave us a quote. We signed the Costco contract on 6-14-13 and Jack scheduled the installation for 6-25-13. The two man team arrived before 8:00 AM and finished about 7:00 PM. It rained all day long. The installers moved all the heavy furniture to one side of the area and completed the new carpet and reversed the procedure to complete all the carpet. They cleaned up everything and hauled away the old carpet. We are very happy with our new carpet and the great installation. read more
