Carl, Estimator, Project Manager came to my house this week to look at a water issue on my porch overhang. While the issue, thankfully, was not as serious as I had thought and feared, Carl was thorough, thoughtful and respectful. Being an older single woman seems to present some people, especially "servicemen", with the opportunity to speak to me and treat me as if I am an idiot and assume they can take advantage. This was certainly not the case with Carl. He made helpful suggestions for how I could follow-up with a different type of service and left me with useful information. While my issue did not require the scope of work done by Chronic, I would definitely reach out to them in the future if I ever did need their services. read more

Our family recently worked with Cronic Disaster R&C to follow up after my nephew had major water damage from the January 2023 storms in Redding, CA. Ultimately, the ceilings of the master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room caved in in varying degrees. Asbestos was found and CDRC worked closely with the abatement company to be sure they could begin reconstruction as soon as the house was abated. They were timely and began work immediately. Their work is meticulous and their communication, which includes promptness and follow-up, is superior. They were a pleasure to work with. We HIGHLY recommend the CDRC team and will use them again at any opportunity. Thank you to Frank, Kala, and everyone. Job well done!! read more

Just wanted to thank Cronic Disaster Restoration and Construction for their EXCELLENT service. I had a rat eat through my dishwasher and I ran it, not realizing I had a problem. It flooded the entire kitchen, Requiring full demolition and remodel. I called Cronic and they came right out and made a plan, The next day they sent out Adam Rosetta to make it happen. Adam was so professional and very knowledgeable of what needed to be done and how to get it done quickly. He was very much a perfectionist as if he was working on his own home. Everything he did looked great. I appreciated him answering all my questions. My kitchen is now so beautiful. I thought this remodel was going to be a nightmare but thanks to Adam, is was very easy. Great Job! I will recommend Cronic to anyone who needs any remodel or repair, you won't be disappointed Barbara C read more

Let me share what I've learned from all of the marketing courses and seminars that I have attended over the last 3 decades: #1 - People will speak about a good experience for an average of two weeks. People that have a poor experience, will speak about that experience on average of about 11 years. #2 - Social media will reach more than 89% of your current and future clientele. #3 - One bad apple spoils the whole barrel. J&H Restoration Inc. dba Cronic Disaster Restoration and Construction is a State Farm preferred vendor or contractor. It was explained to me that this meant that by using them, it would reduce the stress and streamline the repairs needed to our home after a storm loss on March 13, 2023. The last day that Cronic Disaster had workers on site was May 16, 2023. 8 weeks ago. Today I was notified by a Cronic Disaster Salesperson during a telephone conversation that they will not be returning to our home to complete work remaining on the contract and to correct work that was done incorrectly or unsatisfactorily. An example of work done unsatisfactorily is the attic insulation that was to be replaced in the attic. Building code and the written contract state that R-38 insulation was to be installed in the attic. R-13 was installed instead. The supervisor of Cronic Disaster was notified of the error, but covered the work without inspection or replacing it, regardless that it was done incorrectly. Some of the corrections to the shoddy workmanship would be the third attempt to get it right. Why is there never time to do the work right the first time, but always time to come back and do it again? Another point of contention is that there were items listed in the scope of work that were redundant charges, or in some instances, the work and materials never existed in the pre-loss condition of the home. Thus far, I have managed to have several thousand dollars of this doubled up work and errors removed from the scope of work and contract amount. No thanks to my insurance carrier. Cronic Disaster was made aware of the errors prior to starting the work. Cronic Disaster tried to appease me by stating that it all would be worked out during the course of the repairs. It has not. Maybe, just maybe, they will come through and we both move on to better days. Unfortunately, from my experience thus far, I do not believe that Cronic Disaster is going to keep their contractual and business and professions commitments. Fortunately, there are an abundance of resources available to consumers that can help correct that lapse in action. One is here. If you have an insurance claim, you DO NOT need to accept the proposal provided by your insurance carrier or their preferred contractor. Get multiple proposals from as many contractors as possible until you meet one that you feel confident will complete the work expeditiously and in a workmanlike manner. You don't need to be besties, but you should be able to get along with them in a professional manner at minimum. Being a contractor is hard, but it doesn't need to be complicated with negligence. read more

Last January 80 mile winds split a tree in my back yard. It caused damage to my log home porch and the roof in the great room. Three 24 foot beams were damaged on the roof. My home was considered a hazard and I was moved out that night. I contracted with Cronic Disaster in Redding California to handle the project. Bruce Nidever was my project General Manager. Bruce and the entire crew with Cronic did excellent work. All the sub-contractors did great work and were very professional and hard working thru every phase of the project. I highly recommend Bruce at Cronic Disaster. He always kept me informed thru all the stages of the project. Great work ! read more

After a heavy wind and rain storm our gutters were inundated with water spilling onto a window seal with poor sealing causing water damage in our home via the window frame. The water caused dry wall and window frame damage. The contractor Bruce responded quickly to our Insurance Claim request, I want to say within 48 hours or less. Bruce was friendly and able to identify the cause and provide information to eliminate further damage and describe the work needed to complete the repairs. Bruce seem highly competent and personable which I appreciate. Cronic's carpenter Rusty was also very friendly, explained the work plan and was on task as he laid out on the first day of the job, finishing kn time. Rusty knew what he was doing which was apparent by the quality of workmanship. I was satisfied with the job Cronic provided and would therefore recommend their business. read more

Don't use....Don't use....Don't use! If you are looking for help with a disaster or emergency on your house or business, you better not use these people. They do come out fast no doubt but the way they do business is horrible. James had me sign paperwork, but they were hired directly by the insurance company to do emergency work. I had a tree on my house. The tree service was great. Cronic charged my insurance $16,400 for the tree removal which was one day and the company left the wood and the chipper debris. The yard was a mess still. I would guess the tree company charged about $8000 and maybe $2000 extra for the excavator. I asked the tree company what they would be charging. They had two guys on the roof cutting up the tree and two older nice men feeding the chipper. I think they were here about 7 hours. My husband has taken care of cutting up the wood and splitting it. They did cut it into chunks, but they would have had to do that to haul it off if hadn't wanted the wood. My insurance has been angry about this bill. They haven't paid them yet. This is a long time since Jan 5, 2023, and this is March 16, 2023. However, James asked me to give him $1000 for my deductible the day the tarping company came which was the next day. I did. The tarping company asked for $4500 for a very small amount of tarp and 2x4s. 17 sandbags. The area tarped was about 30 feet by 20 feet. Maybe 600 sq ft total with the material wrapping around the boards. They were here maybe four hours. My insurance company said they had no business taking any money from me. They refuse to give it back. My insurance deducted the $1000 already out of what they paid me for the permanent repairs to the house and the roof. We are still sorting out the amount they have sent too. We will have to get more estimates too. The estimate that Cronic sent to my insurance was double what another roofing company quoted me. Double plus $20k to remove the old roofing which was in the estimate from the other company. James told me no roofing company would guarantee their work for more than one year, if I didn't go through them. That is another lie the roofing companies all said they couldn't stay in business with that lousy guarantee. I told James to refund my $1000 and he said they mailed out last week. Lies and liar. Today the woman that answers the phone, Natasha, said they were not sending it back to me and said they were using it for the repairs and were going to file a mechanics lien on my property soon because I was responsible when the insurance has not paid them what they asked. She said you signed the paperwork. Again, I didn't call these people my insurance did. I didn't put them in charge, my insurance did. Cronic called the companies that came out. They try to insert themselves into all of this and say they can do all the needed permanent repairs too. If you saw the estimates you would choke. They did nothing but be someone that acts like a broker...you don't need a broker. AGAIN, I did not hire them...my insurance has been holding their payment because they are overcharging by about double. You don't want these people I am telling you. If you are a senior, you are prime for them. I will continue to deal with this and if I need to so will my attorney. I never got any paperwork that I signed when they first came out nor did I get a receipt for what James said was my deductible. I have a folder with stuff about their company and in the back is a form that says they can file a mechanics lien. I didn't see it before, nor did I sign it. All of you that have had claims know this is pure crap and he had no business lying about that $1000 or telling me it was my deductible. I have discussed this with my attorney, and he is ready to get involved if we need him. This company also is in Chico and a few other places. I always wondered about them when I saw their vehicles out and about...and then just the other day I heard from someone that had a family member that had worked for them state that they were the worst. I say run...run fast. Talk to your insurance company about your rights to get your own people to come out and how you are protected with emergency work. Make sure you get an estimate first before they come out and try to hog-tie you up with their lies. Trust me my husband could have cut that tree up and tarped the house. There was a serious issue with the hot tub under part of the tree, but it could have been drained and moved. I was told by the insurance they would take care of it all and they probably had no idea what they just got into with this company either. The adjuster that came out from the insurance company said Cronic was so off the mark of with their estimates and charges. What has happened now is that we have been delayed for months because of Cronic in restoring our roof. read more

I work with Cronic Disaster in this community and have nothing but raving reviews for this company. Not only do they do a thorough job with restoring houses from fire and water damage, they have been helping repair homes that have been damaged due to exploding vape batteries. We called Cronic company to give us a quote for a drop in bathtub replacement . The quote was very vague, figures just dropped in without explanation, and the end resulted in a ridiculously high quote. When we called back to have them itemize and explain the quote, we never heard back. I could not recommend them with them because of these reasons. read more

We can't thank Cronic Disaster enough for their assistance with putting our house back together after a plumbing leak we had. Jeremy, Mike and his crew were great to work with. Our house was in the path of the Dixie Fire and was under mandatory evacuation orders, however they jumped right back in when they were able to get clearance to go. We live over 4 hours away, and I never got to meet Jeremy, but I felt I was in good hands the entire time. He was responsive, and I appreciated that. Thanks again for all of your help! read more

Called Chronic Sunday morning to request help for a hole in my roof from the snowstorm here in Redding. I explained to the lady on the phone that I have a tarp over the hole but with the expected heavy rains for the next week I was worried about water damage in my house. She told me they could show up on Monday, they would not respond out on Sunday. Weird because as a fire fighter I have had them on scene all hours of the night including Sunday at fires and other disasters. Oh well, called their competitors and they were on my driveway within 1 hour. Don't think I would use or recommend Chronic. read more

Recently my parents garage and the back of their house burnt down. Hoss from Service Master came out right away and boarded everything up, locked the house up and gated the yard. We had looters going through my parents belongings and after such a horrible event the last thing you need is people going through what's left of your memories. Hoss made sure that everything was secure, he was personable, caring and very respectful to my mom; he made my mom feel better about her home and that's what truly matters. Scott really went to bat with my insurance company to make sure all our damages were addressed and Neal handled those unexpected challenges (double glued down Hardi board and a misaligned vanity) This is our 3rd time using this company. Sorry have to edit review. Toilet installed Thurs. leak discovered Sat. after flushing for first time. Had to shut water off to toilet. Baseboard soaked behind toilet. Update: gasket came loose (probably when toilet was moved during dry-out and repair) But not their problem. I will be repairing, drying and repainting. Live and learn. read more

Cronic came to my house after I had a fire, and it was obvious they were "in-bed" with the insurance company. They told me my fire would take 2 weeks to clean up, and I would be back in my house. In December of 2018 a tree fell into my house. Huge hole in the roof and insulation EVERYWHERE. My insurance recommended Cronic for the repairs. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating for the first 3 months. But once we finally got a few day of nice weather, Ryan stepped in and took over all matters of the repairs. I can't say enough about how thankful I am for Ryan. He got things moving fast and he didn't stop until the very last day all the repairs were done. He was very responsive with texts and phone calls and kept me updated on every aspect. I am very happy with the final results.Thank you Ryan and Cronic read more

Have a disaster? Matt is the person to request on YOUR job. He worked on my house after a devastating flood in my kitchen/bathroom and wall in between. He is very professional, skilled, and extremely meticulous about the job he performed. The walls look brand new, the floor is fabulous, but the attention to detail, was what stood out the most. Matt is awesome and easy to work with. He shared his knowledge and never left a mess. He cleaned as he worked and all the work he did was perfect. He also worked above my expectations. Matt had a helper to move furniture. I believe his name was Neil. They took great care of the brand new floors when moving the appliances back into the kitchen. They made sure the water line to the refrigerator was not leaking and the gas line to the stove was tight. Thank you Cronic for hiring young men with great character! I have dealt with the "other guys" but went with these folks because they work closely with Hartford, my insurer. The task was to rebuild my polycarbonate patio cover, which was damaged by hail back this Spring. I was really impressed with the personable way these guys operated. PLEASE DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE THEM. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!! AND SCAM ARTIST! They do not care about the customers. They work with insurance companies and under bid to get the job then add on then try and add more money so insurance will pay for the work. They came out in September to bid our job after a fire and they underbid the job so we would not able to hire someone else. They wanted us to sign the contract before seeing the bid. I contacted owner of the company on 10/31/19 and he sent in a copy of the bid the beginning of November. It is 2/4/20 and the work is still not complete. They hired a 3rd party plumber who quoted and charged 2300 for a water heater and invoiced me to 2700.00. This company is a nightmare and they need to be investigated. this was the worst repair experience I ever had. Took them almost 3 months to complete one small project. They would send someone out and I had to be home for this all they would say was yes there is a problem we will send someone out to look at it. someone else would come out and say yes there is a problem I will send someone to give you an estimate. They left equipment in my house for weeks and never followed up with appointments. I finally had to get pissed enough to go off on them and it still took them three weeks from that point. it is a horrible system they use. when they were done they left my walls dirty from all the work had to pay someone else to come clean the walls. read more

This is the worst company I have ever come into contact with. I had someone die in my rental property and used this company to do the clean up and remodel.OMG they screwed my insurance company and me to the tune of $90,000.00.+ Mostly everything they did was cheep, cheaply done, miss quoted, etc etc , etc., (example: all windows had to be taken out. They quoted $10,000.00 to "replace" all 13 windows. I GOT RETRO FIT WINDOWS AND THEY WERE THE WRONG SIZE AND LEAKED!!!!!!!! FOR $10,000.00.) REALY... You might say this is my fault for not overseeing the job. I lived at the time in Southern California they told me that they would do the job as if they were doing it for their wife. (guess they were getting a divorce, cuz I got screwed) There was so much wrong with what they did I am so angry I cant even put it into words.
