Finished our downstairs tile remodel with tile obtained from Design Tile. Kristen was awesome to work with. Very precise, accommodating and responsive. They gave us amazing service and beat the price of rival stores and even beat Lowes on some bullnose. Ultimately disappointed by the fact that the shop overestimated the amount of tile needed and now we have boxes of several different kinds of tile that went unused (for the subway tile on the walls we have 7 boxes left!). This ended up costing us hundreds of extra dollars for nothing. We trusted the shop to sell us the right amount--we gave them the measurements of the two bathrooms and they worked out what we needed. We also wish there had been better communication since we had some of the same tile left over from our other bathroom, which they also did the estimation/ordering for. read more

I am grateful for Design Tile and Stone. They truly went above and beyond. They were so patient and friendly. They had a wide selection and were accommodating with getting out several slabs to ensure we were happy with our selections. Their staff was knowledgeable and helped us pick the material that would work best for our needs. They stored our slabs for about 5 months until we were ready. I didn't measure correctly and had to pick up another slab at the last minute on a Friday afternoon. They dropped everything they were doing and still took the time to get out the slabs so I could choose the one I liked the best. I don't know too many businesses that would handle your poor planning emergency with such grace and kindness. My husband is in the service and the owner was kind enough to give us a military discount and we really appreciated his generosity and support. The business is family owned and they provided me with top notch service. You can even check out tiles to take home (at no cost) to see how they match up to your design choices. We were recommended by our tile installer , when we got our tiles there's so many of them are broken and we can't return the special order items. We've had a better services at the Home Depot buying $1 dollar items than this place, so much for helping local small company. Not recommend,NOT RECOMMEND!!! They don't deserved one star! Update Nov 2016 Owner Randy stepped in and personally delivered replacement tile. He showed up and unloaded it all himself. Be aware of what is ordered a back it up in writing on the order form. We just recently completely renovated our master bath. The staff at Design Tile and Stone were as helpful and friendly as possible! We bought a granite counter top the first day we walked into the shop and then proceeded to build the bathroom around that. Kate helped us out tremendously as we worked to get tile for the floor, backsplash/accent, and shower. We worked for months to get the right color from our cabinet maker to match in with everything else. Each time we come in, the staff pulled our counter top out enough so we could see if we were on the right track with the colors of the tile, cabinet, and sinks. We could not be more happy and will be using the same shop for our guest bathroom. Thank you for all that you do!! read more

I just finished remodeling 2 bathrooms - we had to go down to the studs and redo them completely. My contractor suggested Design Tile. I am sooooooooo glad he did. They are incredible people who are helpful, kind, patient and care about their customer. I told them my price range and Kristin kindly pulled out samples that would fall within my range which I appreciated - I didn't want to fall in love with something I couldn't afford! She helped me put together the tile, flooring & shower flooring. It looks spectacular! When the tile came in, low and behold some of it was damaged and they had to reorder more. Kristin was awesome communicating the problem and apologized profusely. The thing is, they can only control so much. They didn't personally break/damage the tile in the box - unfortunately it was broken in transit. She went above and beyond to try and get it replaced as quickly as possible which is all you can ask when something is beyond someone's control. She tracked it and kept me posted. Having a company that will stand behind their product and see the purchase through to the end is 10 stars in my book! How a company deals with hiccups is huge. They are stellar and I would recommend Design Tile to anyone in the Reno area looking for beauuuuuuutiful tile, reasonable prices and a conscientious team! Thank you all :) read more

We are in the process of building a new house, and I scoured this town backwards and forwards looking for tile. I talked to just about everyone at every store, and must have looked at thousands of styles of tile. When it finally came time to buy, there was no question that Design Tile & Stone was absolutely tops in every way. First of all, they have a wonderful selection of really gorgeous tile -- stuff you won't find anywhere else. They are also extremely competitive with their pricing: We ended up with truly beautiful, high-quality tile for not much more than the blah stuff we were considering at Floor & Decor. Total no-brainer on that decision! Last, but definitely not least, the owners and staff at Design Tile & Stone are stellar. Not just knowledgeable about tile (and helpful with design, too), but truly nice, caring people who go so far above the norm in terms of service and just all-around kindness that the term "above and beyond" seems inadequate. I came to them at a time when our build was stressing me out in a huge way, and they did everything humanly possible to help me, even when it was clearly not going to make them much, if any, money by doing the things they did to save the day for us. There is one more thing I would like to say: I read the one negative review here, and I really wonder if the person who posted it might have this store confused with another, as it is simply impossible that the people at Design Tile & Stone would ever treat anyone that way at all. These are wonderful, conscientious, and generous people who give absolutely top notch service, have great prices on fabulous tile (and some lovely granite as well), and will make sure that you are very well taken care of. Really, this is the place to go -- and believe me, I went everywhere, far too many times, so I know! : ) UPDATE: We had picked out prefab granite before I ever started looking for tile. Had found a place in the bay area that sent us a sample we thought would work, and the price was very good. We had not actually seen it in person. We were just about to go pay for it and pick it up when we discovered it would not fit in our horse trailer. As we were now DESPERATELY short of time, my husband sent me on a mission to find something locally. Once again, went everywhere, and the prices in our area just about gave me a heart attack. Design Tile & Stone had one piece of prefab that was really nice, almost perfect for our color scheme, and the price was reasonable for how pretty it was, but the colors were just not quite right. Fortunately, Randy, the owner, came out to talk with me about it, and he said that he would go granite shopping for me if I told him what I was looking for. I emailed him some pictures, and wouldn't you know it, he put in an all-day driving trip and found me something about as perfect as could be! Yes, it is somewhat more expensive than the stuff in S.F., but I have since learned that the place we were going to buy from in S.F. has a bad rep for selling poor quality stone, often flawed or damaged. Randy, on the other hand, personally and painstakingly inspected every piece for me, making sure it is all good. Plus, he is transporting it personally, so I have no worries about it getting damaged on the trip. I seriously can't believe how far (literally and figuratively) he was willing to go to help us -- and I know he is making little, if anything, on this sale. AND, compared to what I saw elsewhere in town, this granite is far prettier at a much lower price than anything even remotely in the same ballpark. Randy, if you are reading this, THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH! Bottom line: If you have a certain look in mind for your granite, talk to Randy and he'll go (nearly) to the ends of the earth to try to find it for you. Just amazing! read more
