I came in to GCO Flooring Outlet in Reno to look for carpet for my new home. After working with Owner Stacy, I decided I wanted to create an oversized rug for my living room and runners for the entry and kitchen. I didn't know this could be created? I had 2 bedrooms carpeted by GCO about 7 years ago. They had gotten a little loose over the last year or so. I called GCO to get them re-stretched, expecting to pay for that service. Starla helped me and got the fees covered by the manufacturer, which was above and beyond what I expected. GCO Carpet is an excellent well stocked and well staffed store. My wife & I first went to the carpet store across the street and then saw GCO. The difference was night and day between what a good carpet showroom should be, GCO was clean and had a huge selection of carpet rolls and samples. She gave us time to ourselves to look and make some selections, we chose samples to take home. GCO - Reno Location When walking into this location, the store just had rolls and rolls around the store of carpet. There was no types, no labels, no prices, and no employees available to talk too. It took upto 5-10min for a man to approach us asking if we need help, we were looking for hardwood floors that are waterproof the man just pointed an said those are waterproof an then told us "oh those, over there are too" I'm like "Overwhere?" He was pointing but was pointing towards the back of the store. He did not even offer to walk us over to it, he just walked away an then never came back til about a few mins from us leaving the store. The man seemed like he was not really wanting to be helpful, he didnt have answers to questions we had nor other customer questions he said we would have to come back on Monday to talk to another associates about what they have to offer. For an outlet store as they say they are, the prices are extremely higher then other stores in the area an without many price tags except for some hand written signs. So I'm not sure if I will be coming back to this location. I'm not saying this place was bad, but without a knowledgeable staff and proper signage or even what color certain carpets are. read more

My experience with GCO Carpet Outlet could not have been any better. Their selection was big enough to provide a wide range of materials, colors, textures, prices and quality. Stacy helped me make the decision based on our needs. The price was similar to two other places I went to for bids and I received a discount because the carpet was already in stock. They work with McGiver's Carpeting for the delivery, removal of old carpet and installation. They were superior. They arrived on time, worked really hard, cleaned up after each step of the process and carried away all the mess. (Who would have thought that carpet installation would produce so many little pieces of the carpeting!) They were very careful when moving our furniture out of the rooms and remembered where it went when they put it all back. It is very rare that you find customer service like this anymore! I looked at 4 different business before choosing GCO. This is a family operated business and it was because of that that I chose to have my flooring done with them. Bob, the owner, was so helpful when I came in and answered all my questions and helped me pick out samples. His daughter set up my installation and Alex came out do the install. Unfortunately, after the installation was done, it was obvious that my concrete slab had flaws in it and we weren't happy. Just had flooring installed last week. Wood floors in hall and bedrooms and carpet on the stairs. Stacy was great in making recommendations. We are quite happy with our floors. Starla was our salesperson and she was excellent with her knowledge of carpets and pricing. We found a carpet through Starla that was was of equal high quality to one we found at a big-box store, but the difference was she could have it installed in less than a week (not 6 weeks) and at a cost of over $ 2,000 less than the other place. I went to Gco trying to use a locally owned business and avoid the big box stores. I met with the owner and picked the carpet and one of my specific questions was do you have your own installers, I was told yes. I should have asked if GCO was the employer of the installers because they are not, they use sub contractors. Subcontractor 1 over measured by 250 sg ft or $800 on a 700sq ft carpet job. I called GCO and disputed the measurements since i have the blueprints and they sent out subcontractor 2. He got the measurements correct but charged 200 more than #1. So we went with #2, GCO was unable to explain to me the measurements differences or the cost difference since it is charged by the ft. Then install day. Installer showed up at 1130 for a 9 am appt. Didn't finish that day, dah. Said he would be back at 8am for day 2, made it at 930, closer but not to standard. If my house wasn't half carpeted I would have fired him that day. To be fair the carpet came out nice and met our expectations but what a circus. I can only imagine if the was an issue if GCO has the ability to resolve it. read more

I went a lot of places all over Reno trying to find LVP flooring for our home. GCO was THE BEST! I worked with Stacy, and she was SO helpful! She was honest, knowledgeable, and prompt. She helped me narrow down my options, and after borrowing several samples to take home, we decided on Armstrong Luxe with Rigid Core (20mm, 8mil, 7x48" planks). The price for this product was cheaper than anywhere else in Reno (I know, because I made a spreadsheet and compared prices on several major brands from stores all over town!) We just finished installing it ourselves, and the process was smooth, and we found no broken/damaged planks in any of the boxes we opened. Great service at the store, and they carry only quality products (Stacy said she'll stop carrying brands/lines that cause issues, because she only wants the best for her customers and installers.) I am already planning to return next year to purchase upstairs carpet from GCO. I highly recommend GCO and Stacy or Starla. read more

I'm nervous with contractors new to me but then had no choice but to go ahead. I visited GCO store and Stacy took my request. She sent Dan to take measurements. Next day, she called with a very reasonable price. So far, so good! Then Dan called to set up an appointment for install in a couple of days. I have bought carpet from this company back before the new owners took over. Been buying carpet here for rental homes for at least 20 years. I bought a full home of carpet back a year ago for a rental and all was completed well. I was not sure of the crew that came out to install because they looked worn out (50+ yrs old) but they did an okay job. I went back recently to talk carpet for my home and I was shocked to be treated so rudely by one or the owners / family members. She talked down to us like we had rocks in our heads and we have been in Real Estate and Property Managers for most of our lives. It came to an issue about the way a carpet was made and I think the problem was the term we were using. She was so rude to us that I should have just walked out. Instead I let her walk through the store pointing out which carpets were best for us. Now, exactly how do you remember the 30 styles she pointed at during our tour? We were looking at rolls of carpet that were not marked with the issue we were trying to avoid. I left exasperated and walked across the street to get a quote. I was amazed to get better quality carpet at a lower cost. Easy to deal with and ready to please, this is the best way to go. I doubt I will ever recommend GCO again to my home owners. read more

I chose this place based on Yelp reviews, but GCO didn't live up to them. The employee we dealt with was friendly and tried to be helpful, but she didn't seem to know much about the merchandise. I'd never bought flooring, and had some questions about quality and durability that she couldn't answer. When we settled on a pattern, she wasn't sure if it was in stock or when she could get it. Turned out it we could have had it in three days--but her installers were booked five or six weeks ahead. We arranged an independent installer, gave GCO the exact size of the room and ordered as much as they said we'd need. That turned out to be 20-25 percent more than the job took, so we have a big leftover roll of 12-foot-wide vinyl flooring to store. Love the new floor, though.... read more
