Workmanship, attention to detail and cleanliness are all lacking at this business. I caution you against trusting them with your clothing! Uneven, crooked seams, clothes returned wrinkled and covered with lint, inside seams not pressed flat and open before sewing over them, incorrect thread tension. Once an old converted car dealership, now a 'mall' ? Well at least trying to be. An eclectic group of vendors that seem sentenced, to hell in there. Weird smells, mixed with strong garlic, doesn't make a good ambience for a restaurant . The outside looks nice but when you walk in it a whole other story. Cold n dumpy with the most disgusting floor, which has not changed in 10 years. I was told it has something to do with all the gasoline products that seeped into the floor when it was a dealership in the 70's. I like some of the food there but can not sit and enjoy it, also the bathrooms are a bit rank, as it seems to be a popular spot for the homeless to use. read more

I came to Maria in desperation with tears in my eyes when a week before my wedding another tailor ruined my dress. My bridesmaids and some groomsmen were getting alterations with her so I decided to come to see if she could save my dress. She was extremely busy that week and could not take any more work as they were already rushing, but Maria saw my desperation when I came in through her doors, destroyed. My expensive wedding dress was ruined by Seams Unusual, and even though she was busy she accepted to take on the hard work (once a dress is ruined by another tailor, it's extremely hard to fix) was able to re design the dress in a way where you would no longer see the tears on the illusion neckline and back by doing beading handwork all over the dress, take it in 2 sizes, fix the horrible sewing and help with the pencil marks the dress had from the other "alteration" in THREE DAYS! She saved my dream dress that took over 60 try ons to find. Her and her team are extremely professional and talented! Take your expensive delicate stuff here, it will be in great hands. The Design Center is one of the coolest places in Santa Fe. The building is beautiful outside and in with a comfy feel and an eclectic mix of artsy, fun shops. The upstairs section is growing and coming into its own. Great restaurants and sweet treats are available. Its an easy walk from The Plaza, Guadalupe Street or the Railyard District. read more

I am very pleased with the quality of work performed by the Santa Fe Seamstress. I had hems altered on a batch of 15 pants. The pants were all altered perfectly in four days time. Not only that, her price was by far the best of all alteration shops in Santa Fe. Very pleasant to work with, too. read more

I don't believe ANY of these ratings. I was outrageously charged for hemming a new pair of shorts. All she had to do is fold up to the hem in the shorts. No measuring involved. She charged me $46.91 for them. The a small room with no ventilation and 5 sewers without masks! I sent hubby to get my clothes out of that unsafe place. She didn't alter my clothes yet and he got charged for them. Family and friends wrote these reviews. read more

Customer beware. The worst alterations experience ever! The owner thinks she's an expert in garment construction and alterations. She's far from it. If you're taking up a hem on a $20 pair of GAP chinos, she might be fine but she destroyed a $300 pair of trousers of mine and took no responsibility for it. read more

I had some serious alterations needed on a couple of complicated blazers and the women at Santa Fe Seamstress not only gave me good advice on how to fix some of the issues, but the end result looks absolutely amazing! when I returned to pick up my mother of the groom's dress the assistant could not find my dress with the ticket I gave her - she looked in the back and did not find it, but I followed her and found it myself - it was not done even though I was there a week beyond the time Maria said it would be done. she advised me to call in an hour when Maria would return. I called and to her credit she said it would be done the following day. I returned with my daughter and it was done -$43 for a simple hem. she never apologized and was very unfriendly (and was equally unfriendly when I dropped my dress off but I chalked that up to being busy) despite what I thought was my cheerful greeting ( i did not disparage her for the delay as I things happen and she did get it done for me by the next day). I asked my daughter if I was being over sensitive and she affirmed she was quite unfriendly. the work was mediocre but acceptable. I will never use this business again. read more

Ok. I am so excited I don't know where to begin. Maria used to work at another alterations store that I used to take my things to. In fact she was the one who worked on my garments. Well around the time I had encountered horrible customer service with the previous shop, Maria was transitioning into this shop (Santa Fe Seamstress). I was having the worst luck finding someone to do alterations. I went online to see what was out there, and I had the strangest naggy feeling to come here. I can not even tell you how excited I was to see Maria!!! She is such a lovely person and I was so excited to see her that I hugged her twice... I trust only her with my garments. read more

Excellent job on repairing my zipper on a beloved pair of shorts. And a fair price too! I took the same pair of shorts to another alterations business and they were not clear on the price over the phone and when I dropped them off, the cost was 7 times the price they told me over the phone.
