Now with this COVID-19 pandemic at it's peak and a mandatory mask wearing as a possibility. I was searching for a place where I could purchase a reusable face mask for going out for essentials.( I am not skilled in sewing in the slightest) I heard that Alterations & More were making them for a reasonable price. I placed the order for five face masks for my family Friday, the estimated finish time would be Monday, but to my surprise they were ready today. They are sturdy and well made, and can be hand washed. Plus very nice patterns for men and women. They also shoot you a text when they are ready. Another thing to note more family members were interested in a mask so I asked if they had a few extras and they had plenty of options available. Laura and her employees at Alterations & More are fantastic. Professional and timely and really take pride in doing the best job. Recently, I went in to hem pants that were done by another local alterations, but very badly. Even to my untrained eye, I could see the hemming was crooked (on jeans), scissored badly (on a pair or pleated pants) and the current pair of jeans I had on, were also hemmed crookedly. Laura was kind enough to fix the previous seamstresses bad work and even offered to fix the jeans I had on for no charge. I went back last week for a belt buckle on my favorite fanny pack that broke. As long as I provided the buckle, they would replace it, and they did a fantastic job. Now, my jeans, pleated pants are all hemmed meticulously and straight and my fanny pack that was retired is back in use. I've used Alterations and More several times. The last time I took 3 pairs of dress slacks to be hemmed, cuffed and have the waist taken in. One pair of pants was completed accurately but the others were a mess. Waist was too tight and the length was too long, to the point that the slacks dragged along the floor when walking. This place is not inexpensive. They want top dollar but made a mess with my order. Beware with this business. They are not consistent. Professional service! You may pay a little more, but the work is good quality. I took something here a couple years ago that was almost ruined by another tailor, and they fixed it perfectly (invisible hem!). Recently got another pair hemmed that were not so jnvisible but still good. They wear masks during COVID and have a giant plexi-glass screen between you and them. It is very refreshing to see how they take the crisis seriously while continuing to give good service. Lastly, they text you when your item is ready. Very convenient. read more

Expensive and on July 15, the day that the work was supposed to be completed I received a phone call telling me I had to take the cushion to have it cleaned before she would do the work. Why did she wait to tell me this. She saw the cushion the day I dropped it off on July 8 and said they could do it. She also told me I could just pick up the cushion and that would be fine too. She sounded a little rude. Hopefully I will get my money refunded or the cushion finally fixed. I have never used this place. Getting the full refund of 47.00. Not the best way of dealing with people. It was the way I was treated that gave the review one star read more

I brought in a sweater that needed work on the ends of the sleeves--either re-weaving or some other way to bind the ends that were fraying. I left it to them which they would do, and they were clear they could accomplish this one way or the other. The first time they returned the sweater completely untouched. They had charged me anyway. Once I noticed, I called and they had me bring it back in...I picked it up. All they had done was run several long rings of thread around the ends of the sleeves that fell off of the sweater sleeves and just ended up tightly wrapped around my wrists the first time I wore it. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted with a smile and asked what they could do to assist with my needs. I was given a due date for the work preformed, advised by text message when my order was complete and a follow up call was placed. These people do what they say they are going to do. I have a busy work schedule and it's not always possible to get to their location during the week, but Laura worked with me and made arrangements that met my schedule. This place is very over priced. I went in to get a dress hemmed and the bust taken in a bit. They charged me $68 just to do that...more than I paid for the dress and it did not even seem like they took the bust in at all.they didn't call to tell me how much it would be until after I had dropped it off too. I've had two things altered here- a dress and a tweed blazer. She did a great job on both. I noticed that the shop has expanded and now has rooms to try on clothes for pinning. This shop is great as I met the owner and she is definitely a hard working lady and you can tell. I think this is a hidden gem in Santa Fe. I needed a new zipper put in a favorite cycling jacket, and, it's my favorite for cold weather, and it isn't made anymore. So, crisis. Well, the new zipper is perfect, indistinguishable from the original. That went so well that I took in some favorite cashmere sweaters to have some holes darned. When I cut the scratchy labels off the inside of the collars, it made holes in the almost-new sweaters :(. Very nice repairs, not quite invisible, but just fine. One star off for how long I had to wait to get this work done, but I think that is just a testament to the popularity of this place. Fair prices, too. read more
