Desi District is a casual, modern Indian street-food style eatery that mixes traditional flavors with more contemporary presentation and menu items like biryanis, chaats, curries, and tandoori dishes. The concept emphasizes fresh prep, bold tastes, and desi hospitality. Tried Chicken Mandi which is a fragrant, Yemeni-style rice dish with succulent chicken slow-cooked until juicy and infused with rich spices. Also tried Masala Dosa which is a crispy fermented rice-lentil crepe stuffed with spiced potato filling, served with chutney and sambar. Overall a great place with yummy and tasty food. A must try spot.

Went to this new place and I was excited to enjoy it as it is so close to my place. I understand that they launched recently but I had an underwhelming experience. Here is the summary of my experience: 1) Ambiance 5/5 : Since it is a newly opened place, you can feel the vibrant and exciting atmosphere. The place has ample seat to for people. This is a new place so not sure if they will have some outdoor seating as well in the future 2) Service 3/5: I was a little disappointed by the service. When I entered the place, I had to ask multiple people about where to pickup and order. They all asked me order number which I did not have since I ordered a to-go on phone. I had to be in the regular line to pick up my order. 3) Food 2/5: I was excited Gobhi manchurian on the menu as I love it. I phoned them and they said they do not have Papadi chaat so I ordered an aloo tikki chaat instead. I speicifally asked them for mild spicy flavor for both. Here is the summary of what I received: 1) Gobhi Manchurian: I ordered it for my wife at the lowest spice level but when she tried it, it was very spicy. She had to have a glass of milk with it. I was disappointed but it was medium spicy for me. I was disappointed that even after tellin them, it was made very spicy. 2) Aloo tikki Chaat: This was really bad a after telling them a couple of times that I want Aloo tikki chaat, I was given Samosa chaat. Chaat is supposed to be an explosion of flavors but this felt like samosa with chickpeas. The was very little yogurt and not red or green chutney flavor. On top of this, it was spicy as well. 4) Value for Money 4/5: The prices are really good on the pocket but what ood is it if there is no flavor to the food. I really hope I can change my review and experience soon. Since they are new, I will try again when in a few weeks an update the review.

Came here for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely. The food was nicely seasoned and freshly made. I got the idly Vada combo, Vada pav, masala tea, and fresh lime soda. Everything was tasty. I ended up eating the Vada pav the next day, and it was delicious reheated even. It's exciting to have more authentic South Indian veg food in Dunwoody! They are still relatively new so should just get better with time. The chaat options are only available late afternoon. Will def be back!

Empty parking lot of Hyd House which used to be way too crowded.

Move over Hyderabad House! There is a new star in town. 100x better than Hyd House or Bawarchi! This place has been asking for one nice Indian restaurant for ages. I used to go to chillis and got sad when they shutdown. But glad to see an Indian restaurant opening up here. Lets start with my fav Mysore Bonda: Excellent price Vs Value. Hyd house wants $11 for Mysore Bonda. Ridiculous! It is $5.99 here, tastes way better, served with 3 types of chutney. Bawarchi sells it for same price but it sucks. Tried puri, mirchi bajji, dosa, idli. All of them tasted nice. Idli: soft and a bit spongy. Seems like made with Rawa. But very soft and nice. For $5.99 it is the best in Atlanta Perimeter Area. And that sambar is so heavenly. I dont know what they put in there but it tasted amazing. Dosa is good in size, price and taste. Served with 3 chutneys and sambar. Easily my go to place for dosa and idli now. Mirchi Bajji is amazing. Tastes just like in India. Yet to try other items. But lastly the chai. It throws the Hyd House chai out of the window. Hands down best Irani chai in Perimeter area. Ambiance is great. They completely revamped the dark setting of chilis and made it bright and soft. I think it will be an eatery and assuming it will be very crowded once they open it fully. Clean, simple no nonsense design and interior is eye pleasing. Nice chandellaires and decor. Restrooms are nice and clean. Perfect for groups and office lunches. People are nice and friendly. Cant comment on service as they are not officially fully open yet. They are about to see massive crowds and hope they are ready. Expect delays in service I guess. Welcome to Dunwoody, Desi District and thanks for choosing this area. It is been a long time we have been waiting for something like this. Oh last but not the least: they open at 8am for breakfast and close at 12midnight for late night biryani cravings. The restaurant is not even open officially until this morning but a fellow yelper decided to create a page and write a negative review. That is sad.

Another famous franchise from Texas is here in Dunwoody and with some really good food and an amazing ambience especially the lighting and atmosphere. Welcoming in every sense in this soft launch phase. THE FOOD: We ordered and tried several items ranging from appetizers till dessert and drink. So we started off with Veg Manchurian Medium spice (the cashier recommended to go with that instead of Gobi Manchurian) and a my friends took a box of Chicken Pakoda. The Manchurian was superbly cooked and tasted very well. Heard the pakodas were good as well. Later we had Malai Kofta (Mild spice) which was excellent with just huge 3 Kofta balls. It was creamy and delicious like any other restaurant which serves this; nothing new though. We got Rumali roti and Garlic naan as our bread. They didn't have plain/ tandoori Roti. The Rumali roti was good but I felt the Garlic naan was just simply Naan with very little Garlic sprinkled on the top at the last moment. But was cooked well. Later we tried out Pani Puri, Rasmalai, Jalebi and Goli soda. Heard the Pani puri was good. The rasmalai was a single piece item and was very good. The Jalebi was too sweet but they make hot live ones like the Live Dosa. The goli soda was sweet as well and was decent. Got to know that Vijaywada Boneless chicken biryani was spicy despite being a Medium spicy one. So just be careful with spicy level. All of them were decently priced. SERVICE & AMBIENCE: It was not crowded for a Saturday night but they had ample room for everyone and probably the biggest restaurant I have been to with so many tables and chairs lined up. The ambience was excellent. Well lit with some amazing interiors and was bright enough. It's basically order first and served at the table. The biggest downside I feel is that they don't have any silverware. They serve hot food in plastic containers which is a big deal for me. Conveyed this to the owner (Mr. Nirmal), over there who was humble enough and was willing to make changes soon. The menu was limited at the moment due to soft launch and had just 10% of entire menu which they are planning to open up in the following week. Looking forward to that. The service was fast and smooth and the staffs were courteous. BOTTOMLINE: With amazing ambience and some quality food, barring aside the fact that they are currently serving in plastic containers (except for Mandi & Thali) instead of silver ware and soon hoping to change, I would definitely consider visiting this. If they don't plan on changing to silverware in the next few months, I would think twice before visiting this place. Hopefully they consider this seriously. Recommend sticking to mild spice if you are not a spicy food lover.

A very happening place with great lighting, ambience and vibe. Gives a feel as if you're having street food, except not on the streets. Although the place looks electrifying, food seems to be mediocre. Right from Veg Manchurian as appetizer, Malai kofta for entree and Garlic naan, Rumali roti for bread, everything tasted fine - not so good, not so bad. I couldn't taste anything outstanding or remarkable. They do have a limited variety of menu right now as it seemed to be a soft launch for the restaurant. We were told that they would be rolling out a full varied menu after two weeks. Also they serve hot food in plastic boxes, which I'm totally not a fan of. Again, we were told that that was their whole idea- to be swift and on-the-go. Honestly, one could just order takeout if they want to eat hot food in plastic containers. That's totally not a point when you go to a restaurant! Overall, if you're hungry and need some quick Indian food which won't really amaze your tastebuds, this place might be an option !
