ordered a fender for a 66 impala and was told they would finish it to primer ready to paint. I asked about its condition and was told minor surface rust and minor dings, no bondo. It was received in the time promised but had been patched in one place and in another place a hole had been poorly covered with bondo. I certainly would insist on seeing a pic or two next time and would insist on sending it as is, it had to be striped and refinished anyway. read more

This is an ongoing issue with this place. They advertise on their website parts available and then you go there and low and behold they do not have them! What a waste of time. Update your website or do not have it! No apologies - no real concern. Old cars are a dying breed but we are trying to keep them alive and on the streets. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I asked Tyler or whoever it was to send me pictures wanted to charge me $80 for a little piece and more if I needed more. Which is fine but all I asked for was pictures he sent one and I told him I needed more and he said he would get back to me and never did until I called him and he blamed it on me. Then I asked to send me another picture of the part he was going to Send me and he refused. And hung up on me. Ended up getting it closer to me. I do not recommend going here they are overpriced and rude. read more

First, let me say right off that I haven't bought anything from dvap .... yet ... but I just got off the phone with one of the most pleasant and informative people I've ever encountered while hunting for auto parts. If you, like me, have have always had an old vehicle, and have always dealt with salvage yard employees, you know that finding someone with social skills above that of an angry ten year old is as rare as a yeti riding a unicorn. Sorry if I'm getting carried away, but I live in Las Vegas, and not only does no yard carry parts for my '68 Ford truck, but the thought of having to deal with angry defensive people (if they did have my parts) makes me want to run my truck off a cliff and go live in a yurt. I will be submitting the online parts request with dvap, and (given they have many trucks in their inventory with compatible parts) I'll be driving to Phoenix with a wad of barely expendable cash in my pocket. Really cool place. I was helped by Brian super nice guy. I live 6 hours away I called him and set up a day to come out and buy some cores from him. when I got there everything was set up. Even though you could see the staff was super busy pulling orders and checking on things. They were super helpful and friendly. Our transaction went smooth and I am a very happy customer. This is where the phrase " buyer beware" is very appropriate. I went there to purchase a pair of wiper arms for my old car. The parts runner pulled them in matter of a couple of minutes I went to pay for them I asked the counter person how do they determine prices since they deal only in old cars. I got a couple of hem haws . No definitive answer. I was shocked at the $50.00 price tag. Believe me my old car is not an exotic or rare muscle car. I was expecting $25.00 tops. Since this place is out in boonies and having invested time and gas I went ahead and purchase them. I left there walking funny and decided no ma's for this junk yard. It a shame that prices at this place depends on who the part man is and how he's feeling that particular day read more

Although I only have one check in here, I've been on a number of occasions and I love this place! As someone with an addiction to classic American cars, DVAP is heaven. They have a lot of rust free donor vehicles and also project cars. Since becoming "famous" in the show Desert Car Kings they do charge for a wander around but it's understandable I guess as it's a working yard. Ok, they don't always have the cheapest prices but they will work with you to source the correct part & hand it to you or send out. This is not the sort of place you turn up with your tools & crawl around (& given that I was there in 115F heat one day, I wouldn't want to anyway). I do get that some people feel they should be getting the parts cheap because they are "old" but try getting some of these parts aftermarket first & then decide... I'll admit that the first time I dealt with them (about 7 years ago), I almost gave up because it was so hard getting an answer but they have improved the customer service side of things out of all sight. I've met the owner and he is passionate about old cars. DVAP is always the first place I look when I'm trying to find something. I've bought both a project car & parts from DVAP. Pretty sure I'll be back again when next in Phoenix, even just to take a look at what new stuff they have :) read more

By a fluke, I ended up at DVAP looking for a master cylinder and brake booster for a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. My father in Iowa owns the car and had the ordinal part split while being worked on and was able to track down a similar year model at DVAP. In comes his favorite child to the rescue! DVAP is like a candy store, they have acres of American-made cars ranging from the 1960's to the 1980's and have another location in Casa Grande. They have an EXTENSIVE inventory and are very thorough with their inventory knowing what car is where on the lot. Several people called in looking for specific parts while I was waiting for them to pull my part and they were able to confirm over the phone if that had that car, or that part. They also allow visitors into the yard to look for parts at a $2 charge (Bring cash, they have a minimum $15 CC/Debit charge) but they don't allow tools on the lot. If you find what you are looking for, they will give you a price quote, then radio a tech to pull the part for you. The guys in the office were very knowledgeable and helpful. My father had talked to Tye over the phone to secure the part and he made sure I did not leave until I had the right one. He even had an image he was able to share with the tech when he accidentally brought back the wrong one. These guys know their stuff! Kudos to them and a BIG thank you for helping us keep our baby running, or at least in this case, able to stop. read more

Please be cautious when dealing with DVAP! They do not care about providing good customer service whatsoever. I now understand why their TV show was cancelled after one season, they are a bunch of hacks that are focused on money vs. quality products and service. I called the Casa Grande location to verify if they still had the parts I saw in pictures on line, I was looking for steering knuckles with all brake components still attached and coil springs. They were busy and I can understand that, so they said they would call back. No call back after a couple of hours so I called them back. They said they were too busy to verify the parts availability and I was to call back the next day. They already had my number and knew what I was looking for so why do I have to call them back??? The next day, to my surprise, they did call me back so I was pleased with that. They had all of the parts I requested on the vehicle so I made payment and said they would transfer the parts to their Phoenix location for me. A couple of days after they were supposed to transfer the parts I called the Phoenix location as I hadn't heard any verification the parts were shipped. Ty answered the phone and looked for my parts with no luck, he only found the paperwork. He told me that I needed to call the Casa Grande location to see where my parts were. This is an issue between their two locations, why do I have to make calls to figure out their lack of organization?? Reluctantly, I called The Casa Grande location and explained the situation. The gentleman called the Phoenix location and determined the parts were indeed shipped to Phoenix. So, I made one more call to Ty at the Phoenix location to verify he knows where the parts are at and he did say he found them after the Casa Grande location called him. I went to pick up my parts and this is when the disappointment really set in. The steering knuckles and coil springs were there but only the brake backing plate and a couple bags of springs were there instead of ALL brake components which I ordered. The paperwork clearly states that the complete brake components are to be included so not sure where the miscommunication was. I told the gentleman whom was helping me that I'm missing parts and ordered the knuckles complete with brakes. He asked the manager to come over and the manager agreed that the paperwork said I was supposed to get the complete brake components. I told him that since I was missing parts that I would like the charges reduced. He said that the parts I didn't receive were likely to be worn out anyhow so they are worth nothing. It's very possible that the brake components could have been worn out but maybe not. I paid for them so I should have gotten them. The manager and salesman I was dealing with would not budge except for saying I could call the manager in Casa Grande to see if they could send the remaining parts. By this time I had enough of doing their customer service work for them. I took the spindles and coil springs, left the bags of springs and was on my way. I'll never say never, but I'm extremely unlikely to go back. read more

I needed an inner fender for my 67 Cutlass hardtop so I used the DVAP website. I received an email 2 days later from Justin explaining pricing and shipping. I agreed and got a call within 30 minutes. Buying OE classic car parts couldn't be easier. An email was sent with pics showing the part and now it's on its way to me and they even saved me money on freight. This junk yard is more interested in making a TV show than they are at selling used auto parts. When I called to buy a fender and a door for one of my cars, I was told that he would call me back. After a week, I called again only to hear that the parts were located in another city in Arizona and that it would take weeks for me to get them. I ordered my collision shop to fix my fender and door. I will never waste my time calling this junk yard again. read more

I checked out there online website, sent in aa request, waited 2 weeks with no response. I called today , the guy was very rude , I told him I saw some pics on their current craigslist add and website, he said the pics are 5 years old and they don't have those same cars anymore.. Then I let him know I did request parts online and HHS's response was he brushed it off and said they get lots of e mails and they only have one person doing them. No apology or any concern about the website not being accurate as well as the contact info system obviously not Customer driven for service. Finally he called back he found a bed and said he was going to send pictures, I'm still waiting for pictures since 9am this morning and now it 10pm, not getting the pictures I assume. Watching the show a few years back, I would have expected better service. We will give someone else our business who wants to sell parts. read more

I had been looking for a right vent window for my 65 Ford Galaxie convertible. I put in a on line request for the part and they called me to tell me they had the part. called last Wednesday to order a couple of simple parts from dvap. here it is Saturday and not only did i not get pics from them (as they promised) i can't get a hold of randy to get the info to him to send the parts out! he is never around when you call, and no one else knows whats going on. i guess they have enough business to worry about my 2 humble parts. if you want to waste your time calling and begging them to send parts, go ahead. me, i got a car to put together and do not have time for this crap. they have enough money, they do not need your business for sure!! read more

Reading the other reviews,it's obvious ,I'm not alone.I signed up to Yelp, just to hammer these losers.I call for a seat for a 75 olds. Nothing fancy.Guy tells me 150-350 dollars for a front seat only. O.K. I figure 350 is primo and 150 is pretty roached.I make the hour long drive and after paying to walk in the yard ,I start looking. Everything in the yard is junk.Wrecking yards usually preferred to be called wreckers. This place is a JUNK yard.You would think if there were nice parts on a car,10 years ago,they would have tried to protect them somehow. Not here.Its all left to rot. Out of 25 cars I looked through,I took 2 pictures of seats,that I felt I could maybe do something with.They were still pretty roached.I walked back to the office,where some inexperienced, young , hillrat is too busy on his phone, to acknowledge my presence. I show him the pics of the car for the seats,and he tells me "those are 350". I tell him they are not power seats,(which was supposed to be the distinction of 150-350).Doesn't matter, they are all 350. What a joke .What a waste of time ,gas,and money.I deal with many wreckers in the valley and most are clean and ,organized, American auto ,comes to mind as a professional place.This place is the epitome of what a cheesy movie would portray as a scumbag junkyard from the 70s.Coincidentally, I found both front a rear seats ,just recoverd for my car for 400, from a wrecker back east.I'm gladly paying shipping,for a decent part and service.Good luck selling your garbage. read more

If you're looking for an oddity part, this is the place to check first. I deal with customers who own "extinct" models, and salvage yards are sometimes the only place for certain parts. Being in Florida, our salvage yards pretty much only cater to newer models, and routinely crush the older, obsolete models. Ask for Willoughby, you won't be disappointed ! read more

If you ever saw their show on Velocity, you know all about these guys. They are total hacks and have no ethics or concerns about selling quality vehicles. I can't say anything about their parts business, but I can say they have no business selling cars. I bought a car at auction where it is hard to do a complete inspection. Once I actually took possession of the car I almost got injured just driving 3 miles. Here is a punch list of what was wrong with the car: It has a cracked windshield which they conveniently put an auction sticker over, the car had an obvious blown head gasket, the radiator was shot, the thermostat blown, and the water pump leaking, the doors were sprung, the speedometer broken, electric windows did not work, seat was not bolted down correctly, and best of all the rear tire fell off in my driveway. Upon taking it to a tire shop they notified me that the tires were extremely old and beyond dangerous DVAP should be completely ashamed of themselves and I warn all buyers to inspect any car they sell with a fine microscope. They are the definition of a "used car dealer" Beware and be safe. Stay away from these guys. read more

I should known beter after looking at all the mixed reviews online. My first call Dan made it seem like it would be a week or two before my parts would be ready to go which I understood at the time. After no call or anything back from them after two weeks I called back and it was that they were swamped and bad weather in the area so my parts weren't even located. After a month of waiting they charged me the $1500 for parts and that was when the mechanic finally went out to get my parts. At this point I was so fed up I canceled my order and Dan informed me they were keeping 20% ($300) just for a set of pictures they sent me and that was it. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Not only will they keep your money but if you want to be kept in the "loop" during the whole process expect to make a lot of phone calls because they won't get in touch with you. I will never try ordering anything from them again! read more
