When I tell you this is the cutest dentist office, it truly is. The waiting room has tablets with fun games, little dentists practice sets, puzzles and the cutest decor. The staff is so incredibly kind and patient with my littles. They were so attentive, took their time and answered our questions and concerns. And they made it FUN, the kids got new electric toothbrushes as new patients, T-shirts that if they wear they get extra tokens for the prize gum ball machine. My daughter has been a patient of Dr Cam at Desert Sun Pediatric Dentistry for the past year and a half. We first brought her to see the dentist before she was 2 and I was very nervous how that would go at that age sitting still and not screaming. Let me tell you, Desert Sun Pediatric is amazing. All the assistants are super sweet and Dr Cam is so good with kids. I love that you can he is a dad and he is so real with his advice. He will tell you what he has done with his kids and he gets it! He doesn't rush you out and listens to any questions or concerns. The office is setup with kids from the moment you walk in and when the kids are laying down, there is a tv on the ceiling playing a Disney show. The first time we took my daughter, they gave her a T-shirt and an electric toothbrush. Each time my daughter goes, she gets to pick out a toothbrush and they put it in a little bag with floss and toothpaste. My daughter also gets a token for the prize machine on her way out. Dr Cam even hyped up the prizes if my daughter had no binky the next time she came in and my daughter was so excited to tell him she has no more binky and got two prize coins. Such simple prizes, but it works! Overall, great experience and I would recommend for anyone in the East Valley. read more

Our kids really love this place. The staff is so nice. They are so accommodating for kids that are nervous. They make it so fun that both my kids love going. My son had to get some work done. As a first time mom, this was my first experience dealing with a pediatric dentist. Of course I did some research before and saw this place had good reviews so figured we would try it out. I must say they lived up to their reputation and my son and I had a great experience all the way from scheduling, to having his teeth cleaned, and to seeing the dentist. We were also able to get in for an appointment relatively quickly and their hours are pretty flexible to accommodate working parents. We also didn't have to wait long after we arrived and pretty much were in and out within about 30 mins. The hygienist was great and helped advise me on how to best position my toddler for the cleaning (I was able to hold him and lay him down on my lap). She was very patient with him despite his squirminess. Dr. West was also great and I loved how he didn't just look at my son's teeth but also provided me with a lot of education on how I can best care for his teeth at home. There is plenty of parking on-site in their lot as well. One thing I will mention though is that the new patient paperwork is fairly lengthy (especially when trying to juggle with a toddler in the waiting room) so I would advise trying to print & complete at home before your first appointment. They mentioned this over the phone but I didn't realize how helpful it would have been (hindsight is 20/20). read more

Dr. West & all his office staff are top notch. A couple years ago my wife & I were really worried about finding a dentist for our kids that would be patient with our little ones & that our kids would be excited to go see & we found Dr. West. All 3 of our kids love going to the dentist (like they ask to go at least monthly.) My wife worked as a dental assistant & dental office manager for about 10 years & gives this place her seal of approval (& she is super picky when it comes to anything dental related.) Anytime our 6 year old sees another dentist (any office that has like tooth logos) she says that that is "the mean dentist" (have no idea how she came up with that conclusion but she assumes anyone other than Dr. West is a mean dentist haha.) On our 1st visit our kids were amped because they all got to pick an electric tooth brush with a cartoon character on it. Our 2 oldest (6 & 4) have done awesome with their sweet assistants doing cleanings & even x-rays. They love that they each get a token at the end of their appt to use to redeem a tiny toy in their tiny toy gum ball machine (even though they sometimes get bummed & cry if they don't get the toy they were hoping for.) We don't think they did it last year but we love their Christmas party with free Santa photos, Frozen Characters walking around for photo ops, donuts, treats, & hot cocoa. We've been coming here every 6 months since he was 2 but I will be looking for a new dentist. No interpersonal skills and did not make my 5 year old feel comfortable. No patience whatsoever. Refused to use laughing gas bc my son wouldn't sit still. Instead suggested my son goes under sedation which I refused to do for two small cavities. Aren't you specially trained to deal with these types of situation? It would help if you make small talks and make them feel comfortable instead of hello, ok open your mouth. read more

Took our 6 year old daughter and it was the most comfortable experience for her (and us). Because of the coronavirus we called when we arrived, they told us we were good to come on in and when we entered they took all our temperatures to insure safety for all. The staff was friendly and made our daughter VERY comfortable and at ease which is awesome as she does not like to go to the doctors or dentist. My daughter said she actually enjoyed the dentist visit and asked me to remind her to wear the t-shirt that she received for her next visit. I work at a general family practice however my daughter was terrified to get her filling done. I researched a good pediatric dentist and came across this office. I can't say how happy I am that I did! Dr. West is a fantastic dentist and obviously I'm going to have high standards because I've been in the dental field for a while. My daughter was put to ease from the front office to the back. He wasn't pushy and let me take control of her needs. He left it up to me how I wanted her dental treatment completed (with/without nitrous or sedation) and said that I was more than welcome in the treatment room. This is now my daughter's dentist and we are so happy we made the switch. I even referred my sister-in-law for her little one and she loved it as well. Everyone was so courteous and professional, and we appreciated all of the nice little touches and additions to make our experience wonderful.
