I've been going here for about 20 years, very convenient location. The ladies that do my nails are always so kind and caring. Not necessarily the best job though and the atmosphere does not give spa or relaxing vibes. It's very bring with techno and old chairs. I've been going to this salon for almost three years and I am really surprised at the poor reviews. But as we know, people are more inclined to post a less than stellar experience. I have never had a bad experience here. And I'll be honest, I am pretty particular. I like consistency, I don't like thick nails and I like a technician that listens and tries to give me what I am looking for. Everyone at this salon has been great. I started going to Kim specifically and love her work. My husband even started going for the pedicures! I would HIGHLY recommend this salon. I made an appt, I usually go here because it's close and I usually have no issues. But this time the lady who did my nails was either was having a bad day or something. I showed her the Inspo pic, she said pick the color, I showed her the blue I wanted for the tip, and told her I wanted the pink in the picture for the base, it's more natural, She said I can do this but idk if we can do the flowers let me ask. We sit down and she's doing my nails, I told her I wanted square square like in the picture (I kept referencing) she repeated it back and said okay, She then rounded my sides... For the tip she painted a straight line and used the brush to wipe away, she asked how it looked and I said I want the blue along the sides more, like in the picture. She wiped with the brush again and said okay. When it came time to paint them she only put one coat of everything, it looked so splotchy and there was a literal spot missing out of the paint, and she said oh I can't figure out why that happened...... At that point I gave up. They didn't have the flowers so I compromised with rhinestones. When it came time to pay, the lady said "$45" I said Okay! They started talking to each other in their language then when the lady rings me up the reader said $65. And I said "$45 or $65?" So she looks at the reader and said oh! $65! But you had to manually input the price so why are you acting confused? I paid and still tipped $10. Went home and I hated my nails , so I called them the next day and told them I wanted them to fix them, they said okay I went back in and this time when I was looking for the color she was getting irritated with me, they were ALL talking about me, I wasn't rude I didn't say anything I just kept my head down and let her fix my nails. She asked me what's wrong with them and I told her "they just don't look good, you can see right through my nail things not pink, my edges are round, my tip is wrong..." I found a pink I liked and I didn't attempt to have her do the tip again because I just didn't want to deal with it. When she fixed them they looked a lot better. But they didn't charge me and I definitely didn't tip. If they weren't so rude I would've tipped her for fixing them at least. But I didn't like they they were being disrespectful when they messed up. Oh well. If you want cheap nails this is your place. But if you actually want quality just find a better spot. I'm never coming here again. read more

They just did a remodel and raised their prices a lot. I asked to have my cuticles trimmed which did not even include a soak and they charged an additional $10. A pedicure a fill, and a dry cuticle trim was $85. I will not be going back. I will be finding a new nail salon. Very disappointing for sure. read more

I have gone to this place a few times and the customer service is terrible and the pricing isn't consistent. I got my nails done two days ago and the pricing was way higher than the time before I went, when I had gotten gems and designs... One of my nails had broke the next day, so I went in to get it fixed but they were too busy so I made an appointment for the following morning. When I got there, she was already running behind then when it was my turn she tried to do someone's full set before fixing my ONE nail.. I super glued my nail back on until I was able to get it fixed so instead of actually fixing my nail she tried to just paint over it.. After all of that, she charged me 10$ for a nail that broke within less than 24 hours of having it on. All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Go elsewhere read more

Pricing and service is inconsistent. The last time I went, I felt as if she was rushing. French tip was not straight. Looked at my toes when I got home. They were uneven. Went in yesterday to get two nails repaired. One was extremely lumpy tried to have her fix she just layered more polish on top. Safe to say that was the last straw. Won't be returning. I can't speak highly enough about this place! I've been going to them for years for pedicures along with my entire family and they are always so welcoming and do a wonderful job. On top of that they always try and squeeze me in even when it's very hectic hours. I recently started doing gel nails and designs and they always exceed my expectations and the shellac last at least two weeks! So you really get your money worth. You know that Angelah Johnson nail salon video about the nail technicians talking crap about you? Yeah that was EXACTLY how this experience was. If I had an option, this salon will be rated no stars. It was my first (and last) time here. The technicians were rude and clearly didn't care about the quality of their job. What kind of nail tech has never heard of ombré? Even after I showed them a picture of what I wanted, they kept telling me they cannot do it. No other alternatives or options. It was just a straight up no we cannot do it. I've been to other salons that are capable of doing dipping powder in ombré. I came here to have a manicure and while this technician was filing my nails, she almost took off my pinky nail too. I literally jumped in my chair and said "ow". She filed it too low to my actual nail that whenever something brushed against my pinky nail, it was sore. Then she complained to another technician about me because I was reluctant to give her my hand to file my other nails. Another lady had to come to finish her work. Obviously I didn't want some that didn't know what they were doing working on my nails, especially if I'm going to be paying money for the service. I told the second lady what happened and she said she will be very careful with my pinky nail. She was better than the first nail tech, but the quality was absolutely terrible. She was rushing through the job that at the end, there were bumps in the polish. I could've just painted my nails at home and saved myself the trouble. My friend even took a look at it and said I shouldn't even pay for it. One of the other nail techs even had the nerve to look closely at my manicure and tell me "oh it looks so good". Seriously? It looked like a 13 year old did it. So at the end of the day, I didn't end up getting what I wanted, the job was terrible quality and I almost got my nail chopped off. Wonderful nail salon with incredible service! I tried going to other salons in hopes of a shorter commute but coming here is definitely worth the drive for me. I have never left disappointed and have asked for incredible designs that I have photos of on my phone and they have been able to perfectly match them. They also do an incredible job on basic dip manicures and I always leave very pleased. They have definitely gained a loyal customer. Only issue I have ever had is that the pricing is very inconsistent. read more

I wish the menu explained the differences between Deluxe and Regular manicures/pedicures. My manicure lasted less then a week, so that was disappointing. If I could rate on service, this place would be 5 stars though! The owner and staff are very friendly and engage with you while providing your services. I'm always nervous to go to nail salons because of my past experiences with rude workers, but the girl that did my Pedi was amazing! She was super sweet and very helpful. Have gone for years they have gotten so bad I won't return. Have gotten sloppy rushes and do poorly job. You would think being a regular for years they would be better with you, but no they cut your fingers when they file shape is bad they don't listen pedicures are rushed also. Their more eager to move in to the next customer than give good service to the one they have. Even when know ones there they still rush you . Don't listen they just don't care. I've been here about 8 times and only had 1 good experience, but I was desperate. A new low today, my nails look terrible!!! She hurt me with the sanding tool, made me bleed and gave my nails about 3 swipes with the sanding bar; and they are rough and look awful. She left to work on another client and I had to call her back to apply top coat. They were rude to almost everyone, including a woman who walked in they said "we're pretty busy right now" without telling her how long the wait was or when she could come back. The cashier took my card and walked away, I had to reach over and grab my card myself so I could get home and try to fix the mess they left me with. This used to be my favorite place, but my most recent experience was a bit disappointing. I got a gel/shellac manicure 6 days ago and 2 of my nails have already chipped. Previous gel/shellac manicure I have gotten have lasted for 3 weeks without chipping, so I am sad that this one lasted for such a short time. The nail grooming part of the pedicure was very good. I am really picky about how my toenails are cut, and they did a great job! On the flip-side, my feet still felt a bit hard and dry when leaving and the polish on one of my toes is chipping after 6 days. As previously stated, this used to be my favorite place to go. After my last experience, especially with the gel/shellac manicure, I probably won't be going back. The women working there are wonderful and extremely friendly, but for me, the quality of the service is what is most important. On a positive note, this one of the few places that gives a very nice massage along with manicures and pedicures. read more

I love this place! It is always clean and pleasant, smells good and the staff is always friendly. The space is brightly lit with natural light. The electronic massage chairs are comfortable and the foot baths are clean and warm. The nail artists are always gentle and cut your nails just the way you want them. Ok guys I decided to give this place another chance I believe everyone deserves a second chance and this is the last chance they get I got there super early like when they first opened up make a long story short my nails look horrible I stayed in there for like an hour and my nails did not dry good after they told me they were dry then my nails are different shapes not all the same shape the only thing that look good is the color. The kicker was they sign said one price and they charged me another never again last but not least customer service they had like a tense angry vibration in there. #dontkillmyvibe# this is not the place to go if you want to get your nails done and look good. I came here because it's close but I wish them well on their business not worth the money or the time my money deserves a better place to be I love my money and it loves me . You get what you pay for is not true no matter how much it cost if a person love what they do then you will too. I walked in here today for a fill. There were five techs and one customer. Two of the techs were snuggled together behind their stations watching videos on their cell phones and laughing and chatting in Vietnamese. Mom was sitting behind the counter doing nothing except maybe babysitting. Another was polishing the only customer in there. I was directed to pick a color and sit down. I knew there would be problems when the tech started filling before she had removed all the loose and lifted acrylic. When I expressed concern I was told it would be fine. Needless to say, I just received the worst fill I've ever gotten. My nails are misshapen, and pitted and lumpy. (See photos). I even told the girl after the first coat of polish that they were terrible and she just kept polishing them. She said they'd be fine when she was done. They're not fine. They are a mess. I prepaid before the polish and included a nice tip in advance. As I normally do, I paid in advance and included a nice tip. That turned out to be a huge mistake. Today's service did not deserve a tip. Unfortunately this is very common around here lately for some reason. I have yet to find a nail place that will do a fill that leaves me with perfectly shaped and smooth nails. The typical quality that is out there right now is very substandard. I'd love to find a place that puts out quality work consistently. I'd never go anywhere else. But I have yet to find a place I'd go back to. This one was one of the worst. I'm getting tired of paying for fills and having to strip and rebuff them smooth myself when I get home. If you want the loyalty of quality customers who return again and again, you need to put out quality work. What I got today was the worst service I've ever gotten. I will never go back. I love going to Des Moines Nails! I have been to many other nail places in the area and always find myself going back again and again. They know EXACTLY how I like my nails done and don't let me down. If there is ever a problem I will go back and the ladies are more then happy to fix it. HORRIBLE SERVICE!! No others words to put it. Was told to take a seat and waited 2 hours only to be told last minute to comeback tomorrow. I proceeded to tell them I could have been told that from the start and not have waited. The staff of lady's continued to talk to one another and after a minute told me they will do them quickly. My nails turned out HORRIBLE and looked nothing like what I asked for. I asked twice if they were capable of doing a ombré affect and they said yes , I also showed a picture of what I wanted and at the end it turned out that they clearly didn't know what they were doing. At first they said a full set of acrylic was 28$ then later said 33$ only because I got them a little longer, That makes no sense ! My friend also was told her set would be 33$ then before paying they said 46$ because of the nail polish they used ...... They kept changing the prices and they told us last minute before paying . Not only was I rushed, but she also was telling me how I wanted my nails done the whole time as well as telling me she did not have time to do any nail designs for me.
