I cannot enough great things about Vinny from Derow and Sharma. I was in Sacramento for some business meetings, visiting from Orange County. After checking into my hotel and opening my suitcase I realized I had packed no dress slacks. This was maybe 3:45pm or 4pm and I had meetings early the next morning. Walking downtown Sac I saw Derow and Sharma and figured, let's see what happens... After finishing with a previous customer Vinny found a near perfect match of charcoal gray slacks that needed only a simple alternation. When he asked "when do you need them"... my reluctant reply was "can I get them right now? Tomorrow by 8am at the latest?" He smiled and noted it was already past his closing time (I hadn't even realized) but he said sure... and within 30 minutes I had my perfectly fitting slacks. This place is a gem! Great find for North Bay residents. My fiance and I came here needing to get the final pieces for his wedding tux. We mistakenly got the tux elsewhere because we didn't know about this place - for the future, we will always come here! The service was incredible and so attentive. This place is our new go-to for any suits and alterations! After going to Men's Warehouse and DXL where they try to upsell you on everything, Sharma was a big breath of fresh air. We wanted mismatched gray suits for our wedding, with the groom in black, and Sharma knew exactly which suits would fit our needs. Was recommended this place by a close friend after I bought a new suit from an online store (unrelated). I was told this was one of the best tailors in town. And he did a good job; adjusted the jacket sleeves for me, and made the pants a more appropriate length. Unfortunately, when I first went in to drop off the suit, he didn't seem to interested in helping me. He rushed thru the measuring, made some folds/marks that seemed off, and as a result the pants are too short. it's not the worst job In the world, but I sort of expected better from someone so highly praised. However, I will take some responsibility: I didn't know how to ask for what I wanted, and I wasn't wearing the proper shirt, shoes, and belt underneath to begin with when he was measuring. But I feel like this is a common occurrence and should've been taken into consideration when measuring. Overall was a good first experience, and it's not like my suit is FUBAR so 4 stars. read more

Took my suit in to get tailored. I should have just walked out after the first 2 minutes but I didn't because they had such great reviews. I took it in and said I needed to get my first suit tailored. He had me go out it on and then just said, "well what do you want me to do to it?" Tailor it? I then proceeded to have to tell them that I needed pants hemmed and the sleeves shortened a bit. I needed the jacket taken in at the waist and the shoulders adjusted a smidge. Came back to pick up the jacket and he'd only shortened the sleeves and hemmed the pants! Then charged me $75 dollars for fucking hemming! Didn't do any of the other work I requested and didn't do the things he did do well. Bullshit and now I need to find another tailor to fix my suit. One sleeve was shorter than the other and had to pay twice for the same job. read more

I have been in here several times, and always been treated very well. The service is old world excellent. Let me explain. I'm a kinda big, ugly, tattooed hooligan-looking character, not the type of guy you'd normally see when you're out a-shoppin' for a suit. The old Indian (?) fella who runs the place always remembers me, and is very friendly and professional, never condescending or disbelieving like I sometimes get in other places . He obviously believes in good customer service, which is what I meant by old world excellent service. When I called him today at 5:15 to see what time he closed, he said he was already closed, and then asked me where I was. When I replied that I live just a block or so over, he said "come on over then!" So, I walked over, and he let me in. I felt like honest-to-god VIP customer sneaking past the steel gates already closed over the glass doors, and in spite of it being after normal business hours, I didn't feel rushed at all. He fitted me for a spiffy new suit, helped me pick out a couple of shirts, and when I thanked him for sticking around, he said it was no big deal, that he rode the bus to work, and would just take the next bus home. Kickass. Admittedly, the selection can be a little crazy - some of the suits and shoes are pretty over the top - crazy-colored, garish outfits that I would expect to see on an abnormally well-dressed clown, or maybe a pimp, but there's usually a good selection of more conservative stuff too. I like basic black suits with a classic cut, and they've definitely got these. Lots of shirts, ties, belts, and sort of thing as well. Great place. The extremely good service puts every other clothier I've been in to shame, so I really have no reason to go anywhere else any more, and lucky me, it's a block from my place! I came here for a simple fixes on my pea-coat. To my surprise, it was fixed in a manner of minute with great workmanship. As I waltzed along in the store, there seemed to be quite a bit pf suits, shirts, shoes, socks, and ties for sale. Everything could be alter to fit you. I cannot speak of the fabric quality or workmanship, but they did have some really nice dress shoes. I loved the fast prompt service I received for my jacket. Listen, inventory and aesthetics aside, you will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgable and diligent tailor in town. I've been coming here for 15+ years and have never had any work be less than superb. No hems or seams have EVER come apart/undone or loose. And the prices are always fair. From the outside looking in, you may think this isn't the place for you, but trust me - the work is top-notch. Now, I honestly can't say I've ever purchased anything from them, but I have brought EVERY article of clothing I've needed tailored to them. And have been VERY happy. This Tailor is excellent...FIVE stars. I brought in a suit that was too large, and I was able to get the pants width narrowed, hemmed, and waist size tailored from 38 down to a 36. Funeral and need a suit? Come here and get a dark suit at rock bottom price. Even the shirts he sells are cheaper than everywhere. We were leaving for a funeral the next day, and my husband remembers that his one suit was losing the zipper in the pants. We dropped by the chain store suit shop and were dismayed at the cost of suits, and resolved to just get the zipper repaired by a tailor. DeRow and Sharma sold us a suit, did the alterations, and replaced the zipper in the other suit for $170 less than the chain store suit shop, and had all of the tailoring done before we left on the plane the next morning. I have a feeling that this is how tailoring a suit selling is supposed to happen. read more

Good work here on the suit tailoring here. Fits great! From the outside, the store seems a little....run down? Inside, the place looks more like a warehouse rather than a store. Racks of jackets, not in any color order or anything. As another reviewer mentioned, about 50% of the stuff you see in here would be worn by a pimp or someone like that. I'm talking bright teal 'crocodile' skin shoes, yellow and purple ties with designs that make you dizzy looking at them. That being said, I still give it 4-stars. The selection is pretty inexpensive, and the best part is the workers. Especially the older gentlemen. Knows what he is talking about and doing. Great work! Overall good alterations, but you have to explain exactly how you want it, and then check it when you pick up because Veni Sharma is not well organized. Veni also needs to make his two-way mirror available also, so you can see the back of you pants/suit coats, etc. Once he makes the two-way mirror available again, he'll get the fifth star.
